>go to 4 NPB games
>venues are all spotlessly clean, trash pickup done between innings
>fans are completely into the games, each team has unique chanting and cheering that goes throughout every inning
>cute, slim Japanese girls wearing some of the coolest and creative outfits themed after their favorite teams are throughout every crowd
>concessions are a fraction of the price as MLB games and just as if not more tasty (takoyaki, beer, lemon sours, whiskey highballs, karage with a lemon slice, buffalo chicken, sushi)
>customer service is extremely polite and helpful, cute beer girls with backpacks bringing drinks right to your seat
>fans were all super nice to me as an obvious foreigner

I started with just a Yomiuri Giants home game vs Yakult Swallows, and ended up going to Orix Buffaloes vs Fighters in Osaka, Swallows at Hiroshima Carp, and finally Hanshin Tigers at Swallows where it rained hard and was still a blast. how come you guys didn’t tell me about NPB being Based, I thought we were friends?

I had simiar experience at the Yahoo Dome for the Hawks. I just found it a bit too ordered compared to the KBO which has a bit more of an atmosphere of chaos to go along with the cleanliness, affordability, and engagement of the fans. Sajik Stadium is something I still wish I could attend on the regular like I did back in the day.

This girl got put on the arena screen, her jersey was insanely cool.
>>154666261
The NPB is strict about copyright? I believe it considering most Japanese companies are.

KBO seems fun as well

I’m trying my hardest to not weeb the fuck out and idealize a place I’ve only been to on vacation but I’m simply in awe of how much more respect there is over there and how people consider others instead of being hyper focused on themselves. It was clean and safe everywhere I went in Japan. They took such great care of public spaces and all of the customer service was first class. Even at the convenience store at two in the morning or at places where I didn’t even buy anything.
>>
>>154666644
They are. Not even the OOTP (baseball management sim) mod community was able to escape their notice or wrath. Their soccer league is pretty legal eagle too
>>
>>154666655
Just Japan tho, are you korean or chinese by chance?
>>154666927
the whole thing vs thing, Japan isn't a meme, Japan is genuinely nicer than the west in many regards.
>>
>>154666106
OP I’m insanely jealous and I hope one day to catch a baseball game in Japan. Everyone always has the same opinion. I’m especially interested in catching a Baystars game.
>>
>>154666981
I don’t know why the NPB doesn’t try to capitalize in the west, especially how popular Japanese players are in the MLB. I think some sort of “NPB “Network” would be great for the brand globally

>I think some sort of “NPB “Network” would be great for the brand globally
10-15 years ago I saw an English NPB brodcast on cable tv. It was late at night, on a weird channel I'd never watch for any other reason, and the resolution was very low. The announcers they got weren't very good, either. Just a very low budget production and might not have even been sanctioned by NPB. Like you I'd like to see NPB games on TV here, professionally produced.
>>
>>154667314
because it'd be a direct competitor to the MLB? keep in mind the "world" baseball classic is nothing but a marketing gimmick for it. they know a japanese product would mog them and are afraid
>>
>>154667314
i think that might be changing. apparently japans version of mlb the show is releasing globally for i think the first time in english this summer, look up ebaseball pro spirits
i'm gonna check it out even though i don't really care about NPB just cause i want to play the show but i don't want to buy a console

>Japan is genuinely nicer
It’s nicer because their rules are so strict. It would probably be okay to live there because you’d get used to the rules, but I wouldn’t want to visit because it’s just so easy to ruin everyone’s day just randomly. You can’t ask strangers for directions because it’s rude. You can’t cough or sneeze on public transport. I think I would rather be the nicest and most polite person in my shitty filthy ghetto than be the nigger of Japan.

>I wouldn’t want to visit because it’s just so easy to ruin everyone’s day just randomly
who cares? it's not like they even know your name, just treat the place as an amusement park while your there and then go back home.
>>
>>154666106
The cheering and spirit looks fun for a one-time thing but I think I'd rather stick to the much more slow burn energy in America.

Uhhh those are involuntary actions.

>>154666812 Hiroshima Carp games are amazing. The park is beautiful, for example there’s flowers around the reserve boxes and the fans come with a lot of energy. The team is well under 500 but they were still completely invested into the game.

In the seventh inning the fans pump up red balloons, and release them. it looks like a bunch of red dragonflies taking flight Seeing all the red balloons fly into the air all at the same time.

Some unique things about the park that I saw are that there is a row of treadmills hanging over the team shop and facing the field, so there’s people exercising while watching the game. Below the exercise bike windows, they have misters set up, it gets hot there so every couple of innings they turn the misters on and kids get really excited to run around in the mist, and even adults get to cool off as well.

There’s a lot of really cool art around the stadium as well. In the room behind the team shop on the walls they have of gorgeous, red and gold painting of a bunch of carp, and there’s other art adorning the stadium like above the names of the different concessions booths. They seem to value art and making a beautiful space a lot more than we do.

Don’t get me wrong, I love MLB and there’s nothing like an MLB game but there’s also an inescapable feeling that they’re trying to rake you over the coals and squeeze as much money as possible out of you while offering as little comfort or amenities as possible. There’s no MLB park that’s gonna mist off the fans to make them more comfortable. It just feels like NPB and Japan in general are more accommodating of people and more thoughtful. You don’t feel like you’re getting bled for every penny you have.

im going to a ball game to drink beers and relax i dont want to be singing and dancing in time with some cheerleader. like the other anon said it might be cool for 1 game but not for 160+ games.
>>
I've seen a lot of NPB vids on youtube and most of the seats look weird. Some stadiums have those half-seat things that only support your extreme lower back, and others have a lot of bleachers. Do they have normal seats with high backs too? How much do tickets cost compared to MLB?
>>
>>154666106

Been to 4 LMB games. It’s the exact opposite and that’s what makes it better.
>>
>>154666106
I will be heading to Japan soon, I've never watched a baseball game but it seems kinda hype. Since you been to 4 games any reccomendations what team in the NPB has the best atmosphere and accesible by any form of public transportation? Long shot but any English speaking accesibility in games too

Kyocera Dome was easy to get to, but truthfully, they all were, Hiroshima has a bus stop outside.

They’re pretty used to foreigners, but it helps a lot to say at least a little Japanese. For example, when you’re at the concession stand, if you don’t know how to say what you want, you can just point to it on the menu and say.
‘Kore’ which means ‘this,’ (so if you want multiple things, say ‘kore, to kore’ which means this and this as you’re pointing to the items) and end your order with ‘kudasai’ which means please. When they finish your order, if you say ‘Arigato gozaimasu’ for thank you they’ll really appreciate it.

Glad you had fun OP. I've been to 8/12 of the NPB ballparks (all of the PL ones, 2 of the CL ones). My favorite parts of the game are the Lucky 7 and the elaborate postgame ceremonies if a team wins. NPB goes all out with the fan service. Don't know if MLB ever will take notes or if they should..
I'll be back in Japan next month for the Seibu Lions X μʼs collab. Did you do other fun things besides baseball in Japan?

As long as you're not the Seibu Lions (my favorite NPB team) you shouldn't have too much a problem accessing games. But thankfully all can be accessed by train, it's just that networks can be complicated and Saitama and Chiba require multiple stops as they're outside the proper. To get to a Lions game you need to go all the way to Ikebukuro which is in Western Tokyo and then take another train around 30 mins to the dome. Furthermore, Hiroshima does not have a subway, but they do have trams, they're easy to access and there's a stop right by the ballpark, but I've never been, want to though.

I did so much. I went to the Hiroshima Peace Museum to pay my respects to the victims of the atomic bomb, I visited castles and shrines in Kyoto, I went to Dotonbori in Osaka just to lay eyes on it in person, and I went on a tour of different pokemon centers in every city I went to. I also saw the big boxing match at Tokyo Dome between Naoya Inoue and Junto Nakatani. My guy Nakatani lost but I was still enthralled by the experience.

The first morning after I arrived it was raining and I walked to Family Mart to try the famous Famichiki. In front of me, a guy put his umbrella into a stand outside of the mart and walked right in. It stood out to me because the guy had complete trust that his umbrella wouldn’t be stolen, an American that umbrella would’ve been gone by the time he got out. People left their bikes unlocked on the street. There is was a river running through the middle of Tokyo near the Tokyo dome, it didn’t have one single speck of trash in it. I really can’t say enough about how beautiful of a place Japan is. I’m truly humbled by it.

I also met a lady and her husband sitting next to me at the Orix buffaloes game in Osaka, a few days later she happened to be in the Hiroshima peace museum at the same time as me. I couldn’t believe it.

Kyoto also had a river running through the middle of the city that was very clean, I had a Japanese friend who was showing me around and he said “yeah but you can’t drink it. “ he was largely unimpressed by the river being clean, because where he’s from near Kanazawa, you can actually drink the water out of the rivers running through the city.

Tickets cost a fraction of what MLB cost. The hardest ticket to get is Hanshin Tigers, they have the most fans and they take over the most stadiums. And their home field is considered sacred ground in Japanese baseball.

I haven’t been to enough games to speak on how all the seats are, but you can generally assume that if it’s in Japan, it’s gonna be smaller than what you get in the US

Visiting now and can confirm pretty much every post in this thread. Not a boreballfag but I did catch much of an Eagles game on in an Izukaya we stumbled into here in Sendai.

Did see a crowd of leering Africans when we checked out Kabuchiko but that's to be expected. Still found a very cozy bar that was more our vibe. Also Ive seen more jeets than other white tourists.
