How does one create a new sport?I’ve designed a new game with some friends and would like to test it on a large scale. Can I just gather a bunch of volunteers and establish a global federation for my new sport that would have legitimate authority?

You can set up a company and call it the global authority, but it would only ever have authority over teams and players that sign a contract to give it that authority. If your sport takes off and becomes really popular, someone else could set up a competing company that also claims to be the global authority, and you would have no power to stop them. It would just be a question of which one the athletes sign with. There are non-FIFA football teams, for example.
The sport has to be properly tested because it's not the rules you're looking to determine but the META.For example, an unfortunate meta in association football is that diving works. Even if there was contact, a player will stay down for a long time as they have been coached to do so.Another example: in cricket a big meta is a batsman scoring half-centuries (50 runs) or a century (100). There's huge psychological barriers on those two figures - despite the fact that there is absolutely no gameplay requirement for a batsman to reach 100 runs,And of course in American sport the meta is black people.
