Did it really justify all the seethe it caused? It's frequently cited as a contributor to why the game was a commercial flop.
>>154682991who's that
With this the game stopped being a serious game which pretty much killed it for the competitive scene they were trying to buy. And then they doubled down on it with the other guy and people had to face up to the fact that Saudi money wasn't going to save video games.
>>154682991did snk's saudi overlords unironically think that people would find this cool and it would help sales? even latino brownoids, snk's biggest supporters, thought it was lame as shit
>>154682991How was it a commercial flop?
>>154688377I thought it was dumb because guest characters don't belong on Capcom or SNK fighters just because if you end up liking the character, in future the rights are more likely to be an issue or a nightmare to get. Also Ronaldo was an European thing mostly. Also Latin American is poor and most probably couldn't get it. Euros should of had bought the game but most Euros are old fags so nobody got it.
>>154682991yeah because sportsball makes everything worse
>>154689713It didnt really sell the numbers SNK was expecting, i think they sold a little over a million copies which for all the money the Saudis spent on marketing stunts like featuring the game as a giant ad on a UFC final or adding Cristiano to the game, is a gigantic failure.SF6 sold like 5 times the copies of City of the Wolves. One of the other factors of this game failing to me its the fact it might have a unique artstyle but its not that appealing, and that SNK doesnt understand that Fatal Fury is a cult franchise, and not a globally renown one like Street Fighter, their chance of it becoming a global fenomenom sailed decades ago. The only reason it worked for Strive is because they put the presentation and accesibility above all else, SNK didnt do that.
>>154682991This didn't piss me off as much as the literallywho DJ they included bc he was friends with the prince. Ronaldo as a brand I can at least understand. But the prince using this game as a marketing vehicle for his faggot personal DJ felt so disrespectful. As a big fan of fighting games and the FGC it's hard to describe the feeling of disgust I felt. It was partly the realization that anyone with enough money can just infiltrate and completely subvert your community run by passionate amateurs for their own ends, and partly the feeling of seeing an icon's corpse puppeteered and fucked on-stage by some arab piece of shit
>>154697280The DJ was actually part of making the game, being both a collaboration music advisor and contributing a few tracks himself.
