People, and /f1/, enjoyed a race
Brazilian speculation to a Spanish outlet leads a Japanese outlet to speculate on Ocon being replaced this summer
They logically name Hirakawa, Doohan as they are with Haas, but a /f1/-poster retardedly speculated it'd be Yuki
There's also speculation on Hamilkek retiring, and speculation on Bearman going to Ferrari, so let's speculate more!
Lando wants to do Le Mans, hopes he has kids who get into racing, says he's still young (he's closer to 30 than 20 but ok)
No speculation yet on what going to happen to George even though that's more pertinent
Carlos drove on the Madring
Piastri, Albon, Bort did some karting
Apple pretends more people watched the first three races this year than last year in the US, doesn't release any actual numbers
F1®Academy was told they couldn't, that they didn't belong, and are now sponsored by 'Dirt is Good' laundry detergent

I think I fixed everything
F1 needs to lure in as many engine manufacturers as possible, ideally a 1:1 ratio with the teams. Then they have to have them sign contracts they can't get out of, no matter how stupid things get. Then they take little pieces of paper and write things on them like
>V12
>fully electric
>hydrogen
>biofuel V8 turbo
>wankel
>single cylinder
And put them in a hat. Then every manufacturer has to pick one piece of paper each from the hat and that's what they get for the season. Next year they do it all over again.

No. That's not peak performance.
The whole purpose of every sport is to find true peak performance. All teams/athletes have their own approach to accomplishing peak performance. The winner is usually the one that's achieved true peak performance. You have to let each team/athlete do their own thing.

>what about competitiveness
All teams are required to make the physical aspects of their technologies public frequently (at most once a year). This allows all teams to be somewhat in the same engineering level.
>only the physical aspects?
Yes. They are entitled to keep the performance specifications private in order to respect innovation. Basically, everyone can see what parts your car is made out of, but it's up to them to figure out what each part does and how.

synthetic fuels are a meme and objectively suck even more than battery EVs
for racing they are fine, but not for mass adoption, and as long as manufacturers insist on "road relevancy" they'll be secondary to whatever hybrid system comes in the cars
>>
>>154752172
combustion engines will never be irrelevant for as long as we dont have magic battery/charging tech that eliminates the considerations of range/charging times and if we assume those exist then we also have magic ICEs that pump out fresh oxygen and run on synthetic fuel that is carbon neutral and cheap enough to use in your lawnmower. the inherent inefficiencies you have to assume with current battery tech are too much and battery tech isn't developing at a rate that's fast enough where anyone could say for certain EVs won't be dead in the 2030s
>>
>>154752313
>battery tech isn't developing at a rate that's fast enough
i agree, but synthetic fuels are even further away
there are niche applications for which i don't see us getting a better alternative than internal combustion in the next couple of decades, but for 99% of consumer cars, battery electrics will be enough

No it's not faggot. I'm tired of dipshits pretending that Tesla is "le good for the environment" because it doesn't release CO2 into the atmosphere. You idiots NEVER take into account that mining for these lithium ion batteries does damage to the environment, then producing said batteries does MORE damage to the environment... honestly dude, i never truly bought into the "EVs will save the environment" grift. i've known they weren't net zero clean cars since like 2010 when they were making the waves again with that nissan leaf car and tesla's lotus roadster. it's the same shit with hybrids for me, remember when dipshit a-list celebs from california tried to gaslight everyone by telling them they were "saving the enviroment" because they drive a car with better fuel economy? any idiot with half a brain should know that it's not the case when it belches fumes into to air. there's not a single car that's environmentally friendly and i've known this for decades. i just like evs because they intrigue me. if that makes me a faggot then so be it. i still love muh V8s though.
side note, jeremy clarkson was getting shat on for saying electric cars like the tesla isn't saving the planet and this causes so much evfag seethe from a decade ago. they hated him because he told the truth. elon even eventually said evs aren't good for the environment either. fell for the conman.

My problem is that there isn't one single interesting production EV for me. It's 75% crossoverslop, 10% overpriced luxury sedans, 5% trucks (including that gay cybertruck abomination), 5% vaporware, 4% performance sports cars, .99% anything interesting, .01% something that doesn't make you look like a queer driving it.

>>154753150
EV trucks are cool (trucks as in semis, not the stupid burger mobiles). You can leave the AC on without having the engine idling while you take your break or go for a run with your doggo in the cab, and the charging is 0-time because you combine them with the mandated break times and play a little minigame where you plan your route around how to maximize the amount of time you are on break while charging the batteries.

IDK Fingol, this one actually looks pretty nice even though it looks like a knockoff 80s Toyota.
EV tech in semi trucks are retarded because we simply do not have the technology for long hauling with current batteries. That's why diesel stays king for that type of job.
>>
>>154752671
>"3 ton, massive EVs will save the environment"
yeah, I don't buy it either. lel.

I just don't want any of my money ever going to abduls no matter what. My entire life is planned in a way that none of my money can ever go to abduls. When you buy an EV, 0 (zero) % of your money goes to abduls, that's why it is in my opinion the best solution by far. There are no legitimate counter-arguments because whatever you may come up with in favor of gasoline engines will always be outweighed by your money going to abduls.

>I like the sound
yeah but your money goes to abduls

>>
>>154752511
>You idiots NEVER take into account that mining for these lithium ion batteries does damage to the environment, then producing said batteries does MORE damage to the environment...
Because this is literally just a meme that people like you have been parroting since Clarkson said it on Top gear like 15 years ago.
Especially since as lithium recycling improves, the need to mine any new lithium (and the basis of this entire point) also begins to vanish.
>THEN charging them does EVEN MORE damage to the environment because of our stupid outdated coal powerplants providing the electricity to charge your stupid Tesla/EV.
Not sure why anyone would even bring up this point when it completely falls apart if you live in an area that wasn't designed by coal burners.
>Oh here's what going to blow your mind... Tire degradation and brake dust. EV's aren't guilty from this. Not so environmentally friendly now huh?
The way you phrased this I can't tell if you're trying to claim EVs produce more tire degradation and brake dust or less.

The best arguments against them 10 years ago are basically the same now
They look like shit because they're all designed for maximum aero efficiency
They're slow to charge and have limited range (unless they're a premium model in which case they're fine for probably 90% of people)
They're more expensive than an ICE car while still needing lots of tax incentives
>>
>>154753625
>EV tech in semi trucks are retarded because we simply do not have the technology for long hauling with current batteries
you can do 400km+ on a single charge while pulling 50 tons, and you spend less on electricity than diesel. it's absolutely over for any sort of non EV truck even in 2026 as long as you drive where you have infrastructure.

>you can do 400km+ on a single charge while pulling 50 tons, and you spend less on electricity than diesel.
Is there a source to this? The only "claim" I found was from a Volvo press release from 2023 about electric and autonomous trucks.

Unironically seen people use the Ford Lightning for truck things unlike the regular gas powered F150 owners that like to be in a microdick waving contest at a mall parking lot. The fact that it doubles as a generator/power station was cool too. Wish more electric cars in general could do that.
>>
>>154757959
i think it made sense for the niche it was trying to fill (worksite, remote work needing tools, etc.) but either the price was too high (they couldn't meet their initial suggested price of ~40k iirc) or it wasn't a good enough replacement for what's already being used in those fields
but that's just my perspective from the outside ig

That is true. Another one is the Transit vans, companies aren't too satisfied with them due to their short range that they're switching back to the ICE ones. I thought about one as a produce hauler with an refrigerator unit in the back, but those vans cost significantly more than just the regular V6 Transits. A hybrid Transit would be nice, Ford already has a hybrid F150, it would makes sense to put that tech in the the Transit.

It's funny how the Lightning was revealed five years ago today believe it or not.
