Arteta is a legend. Genuine legend. I was a teen when the signed hi. Remember wondering why they're buying a fairly low tier play from Everton and disliked the transfer. Then he really grew on me. Wasn't super into football so I just went off his performances and appreciated him. We owe a lot to Everton. That 3-3 was valiant. Everton have been brilliant to watch. They have a massive impact on the community. They deserve way more than they get. Hopefully they bolster the defence. Their attack is great to watch. Good team Everton.

Lauren -> Timber
Gilberto -> Rice

Wenger bought into his own hype about being able to spot young talent and develop them into elite players. It was that and him penny pinching after the stadium was built.

>>154788225
Jens was great and a great character, but he was always a millisecond away from doing something crazy. Kind of makes me wonder if (or for how long) Arteta would put with him given his unpredictability. Arteta didn't seem to mind Ramsdale's idiocy, so maybe he'd stick with Jens since he's much better than Ramsdale.
>>
>>154788801
>so maybe he'd stick with Jens since he's much better than Ramsdale
I don't remember if Jens was any good with his feet. Seems to me like Arteta value that and the commanding of the area from crosses the most.
>>
>>154788810
Yeah, I was thinking of a hypothetical modern Jens who'd at least be average with his feet, since he wasn't playing out from the back in those days. He was certainly "commanding" in the box since he was so quick to look to start fights with opposition players. He wasn't "mad Jens" for nothing.

>Jens Lehmann earned a bizarre red card in 2003 when he throttled and reprimanded his own Borussia Dortmund teammate, Márcio Amoroso

>He currently holds the record for most red cards for any Borussia Dortmund player, and the record for most red cards for a goalkeeper in the German Bundesliga.

Not sure, in that case you would only see the bus drive by you for a minute. While at the stadium I'm expecting there will be a stage and a party and everything, like they did for the FA Cups ten years ago.

The Eternal Arsenal Thread's culture has always been pretty tongue in cheek and a lot of the reactions back then were hyperbolic rather than sincere. Arteta wasn't a "literally who" player in 2011. He had 200+ games for Everton and was seen as one of their better players. That Everton side was consistently finishing 5th-8th while he was there - they weren't a bad side (hence why United picked up Moyes). He wasn't a superstar signing but he was by no means a nobody.

For as much as Manure ex players have talked shit about Arsenal this season they need to realise their team has no aura unlike us.

Bruno Fernandes is their Mesut Ozil and nobody cares about any of the other brown mercenaries in their squad.
They’re not scary, they’re like how we looked to them in the early 10s.
Michael Carrick was talking at Old Trafford like how a senile Wonga was talking at the Emirates. Casemiro won two Mickey Mouse cups and they were talking like he’s a club legend.

He takes great penalties tbf

You now realise heinze was the true league winning signing. That other coach that left to manage parma or some shit was our attacking coach iirc. He was replaced by a defensive coach in heinze, and it was his defensive philosophy which carried us over the line.

still not convinced that he should be picked.
in other news, unrelated to the mighty american WC, i have an important reminder for ye all.
pic rel is livramento injury history, one of our main summer targets as i understand. he's a decent player and i hope well for him but this is just NOT it.

i swear to the lord almighty that i said this when we picked up heinze in the summer, am too lazy to go through the archives to find it

What are we going to do after next weekend

Arterta said the biggest worry of the season was the International Break in March and I am happy to finally know I'm not crazy.

He's on loan to spurs right? Get saliba to tell him to change sides and be the jesus replacement

He's been absolute bum cheeks for spurs.
I personally would love it if we put all of our summer money on a killer LW signing and just get an ol'-reliable journeyman on a free as backup striker for a couple years. Hows Klaas-Jan Huntelaar doing these days?

I love a good trophy engraving.
>>
Can we even in theory win the final? I feel like PSG is on another level. Kvara is going to rape and run circles over defense

>The design of the Trophy is based on the theme of "The Three Lions of English Football".
>Two of the lions are above the handles on either side. When the captain of the title-winning team raises the Trophy, and its gold crown, above his head at the end of the season, he becomes the third lion.

>After Arsenal lost to Manchester City, Gabriel Heinze & Mikel Arteta went for a meal at La Patagonia in Camden before the win over Newcastle.

>At the time, it'd been heavily speculated in Argentina that Heinze was playing a backstage role in the club's pursuit of his compatriot, Julian Alvarez.

>Just days later, Alvarez was pictured dining in the same London restaurant - as if he'd received a glowing recommendation.

I feel PSG is a lot weaker than last season. I don't think they'll score.
>>
The opps are seething

Arsenal have the best defence in Europe.
>>
>>154793671
We went toe to toe with PSG last season despite no Gabriel and Havertz, and Rapey got himself suspended for the first leg. The only thing that saved PSG last season was Donnarumma making incredible saves, and he's no longer there to bail them out. Kvara is probably my favourite player to watch right now, but he hasn't been tested against a single good defensive team all season.

Stole a player from the city academy and he turned into Gyokeres. He isn't even a Gyokeres regen because he is a nobody player in this database with zero ability or potential.

>called Gunnars
>very similar stats to FM26 Gyokeres
>also quite inconsistent and frustrating

Universe has give me a legit Gyokeres pre-gen.

I can only imagine what fear he instilled in the players if they even sniffed at getting a red card

So our best hope is to go 0-0 or 1-1 (cause we can't score for shit and beat case scenario for scoring is a dead ball free kick or corner) and flip a coin on penalties. I'll take it

You need to have faith in the lads. I can guarantee you they've been studying PSG, their mannerisms and tactics for the last 3 weeks. The one thing that I know Arsenal struggle with that PSG is known for is when the game goes chaotic thats when they pounce, Will and Gabi could defend for their lives for 85 minutes just for them to fall asleep in one minute because of Kvara and Dembele's pace. But that can be solved by controlling the game and dictating the tempo not the other way around.

Arteta/Jover/Stuivenberg and Heinze needs have at least 2 maybe 3 backup plans if things dont go well.
>>
>>154793712
I can guarantee you also that Arteta watch clips of when PSG got demolished by Chelsea. Even though its the Club World Cup, that whole system they played I observed was a carbon copy of what they did vs Inter. The only difference is that Cole Palmer trounced on them.

If we win its gonna be the Saka/Madueke show
>>
>>154793671
Of course, PSG is 100% plastic, >we're gonna trounce and annihilate them 1-0
>>
>>154793743
1-0 off a corner
