All things considered, it was a wildly successful event on an active military base. Security and lines will always be a problem at an event like this, for obv reasons. Busch race got a little wonky with the manhole, but I thought the racing was awesome. Truck race was my fav.

Road America is always a great time, just sat down finally after everything. This year we took my fiancé's 14 year old nephew to the race, and he had never been to a rac of any kind, nor to RA. He picked Santino as a favorite after Saturday's qualifying so this morning we bought him a Ferrucci jersey and told him we'd try to get it signed. We spent probably 30 minutes pre race hanging outside his trailer, but had to leave eventually to get back to the inside of turn 5. Watched the entire race there, but made our way back to his trailer after the race, waited at least 10-15minutes and decided to walk the rest of pit lane. On our way back, he spotted Ferrucci talking to a group of fans outside his trailer, waited patiently, and after a few minutes he waved us over and I got pics of him signing his jersey and posed with him (I'm not posting them here). He was super happyAnyway, that's like, core memory stuff and now he's asking about the IMSA race and wants to watch them on an oval at some point after he heard me talking about it. The racer in me would always rather fail, which happens unfortunately, whilst leading, but I am extremely sorry to Marcus and the valiant MSR team, just heartbreaking and we are extremely sorry for distress caused to Marcus and the team. We will investigate and find out what has happened. We push things to the limit, so we are always managing risk with very highly stressed components. We will find out what went wrong, learn and come back fighting. We win together and we lose together.

I mean they dingled dongled Goodyear/Dunlop for a while there but it's not like that's really an achievement either. Bridgestone/Firestone has pretty much annihilated everyone in every open tire series they have shown up to for decades except when Michelin had a "more aggressive interpretation" of the grooved tire rules in F1 for a while.

What's nice about Pirelli anyways is that besides them occasionally introducing a preproduction tire in WSBK you can buy everything they race in motorcycles including bringing an SCQ to a track day, while Bridgestone has 3 or 4 tiers of tires just within the Suzuka 8H from the factory teams to regular customers that are worth seconds a lap. They are forcing them to make special tires for MotoGP though lest the plebs think they are too close to the television gods.I think Sumitomo is starting to get there now that everything is in Japan rather than the Dunlop brand being split between 2 companies and 3 factories.
