Maybe I should go to the ELMS race this year.
>>156274405I bet it's a lot cheaper than Spa 6hour.You should definitely attend a race if you can, especially since you live near one of the most storied racetracks in the world.>Actually I live on the opposite side of the country from SpaYour country is tiny. People road trip from all over the country to go to the 12h of Sebring.

Another birthday, another Quentin Surring book.I'm especially excited about this one since the 1960s were such a pivotal time in motorsports and is the source of so many of the legends we recount today. My birthday wish is for Grosjean to have a good race today.
>>156274614I went to Spa and it rekindled my love for racing. It's also significantly cheaper, to the point where I'm considering taking the most expensive tickets just for the sake of it.>>156278229Please comment on the book, I wanted to buy the series.
>>156278431*I went to the Spa 6H
>>156278431nta, but if you're interested in car related books in general, I highly recommend 'A Quiet Greatness' if it's still available. Excellent quality, and very large set of books. My kid loves just flipping through it.

>>156278431Well, I haven't had much time with this particular book, but so far it's on par with the others in the series. Which is to say, it's absolutely excellent. Spurring had a very good way of conveying the information about the cars, drivers and races in an easy to follow narrative way that is supplemented by many quick reference charts and even more amazing photographs. If you are even mildly interested in these books, do yourself a favor and pick them up in any order you like.

So, I have a schizo theory. Palou has been cheating and Chip was at the very least aware of it. Dixon found out and out of loyalty to Chip he chose not to expose them if they stopped immediately. He also no longer wanted to be associated with CGR because of it.This would explain why Palou is suddenly human again and why Dixon ended his partnership with Chip. That might not be completely accurate, but I bet at least some of it is true.
>>156294330this checks out
>>156278431I have some of the books in this series and I'm currently reading pic related. I recommend it very much. It has a detailed account of all the teams/manufacturers that raced in each year, along with a summary of the race, detailed stats, list of entrants, track changes, etc. Pic related is particularly interesting because it has a prologue that introduces the history of motor racing in France and Europe, and also because it has interesting information on long gone French and Belgian manufacturers which are not easy to find. The photographs are stunning.

You know /turnleft/ is in a dark place when Riley Derpst is outrunning powerhouse Chevy and Ford drivers. The settlement speed ruined this season.

>>156339738I didn't even finish watching tonight's race. I literally switched to fucking soccer. It's so uninteresting when one manufacturer has such a blatant advantage over the field. I mean Riley Fuckin Herbst outran Chase Elliott tonight lol. He's a 30th place driver with equal equipment, at best. It's stupid.
Not to get all gory here, but there was a driver a while back whose head got cheese gratered by the catch fence at some 1.5 mile NASCAR track. Responders apparently found his severed head on the track while responding to wreckage. Who was he? I was talking about it with my Dad earlier and had a brain fart and couldn't remember the actual crash, just that it happened.
