the emotional energy they put in beating us ended up fucking them in the final, so it was worth losing.

plus they united the world against them and made the world see who they really are; which was perfect regarding the Falklands, because now a whole new generation of people in the world have now 1. heard about the Falklands for the first time, and 2. have seen the lunatics who believe it's their island. what was a largely unknown conflict from the 80s, has been brought to the world's attention who now will just think "well if those animals are who are representing Argentina, then obviously the Brits will be in the right".

and the final point; people now don't mock England for always being atrocious (see 2014 World Cup, see 2010 World Cup, see Euro 2016); it's a case of "oh shit, they're getting close; please God anyone stop them, phew that was a relief"... which is an energy i much prefer.
