There has more drama series than movies

Movie wise I think is Kano and Drucker in the Dug-Out / Moshidora, there hasAgain 28 Nenme no Koshien but it is about a tournament for boomers relive their high school days

Series wise there has the live actions of Rookies and yhr TV Series Gekokujō Kyūshi that is based on one of biggest koshien qualify upsets ever

Yugakkan (遊学館) is a private school from
Ishikawa Prefecture. This will be the schools 8th Koshien appearance, and first since summer 2015. Their best result at Koshien was a quarter-final finish in summer 2002. It was an all-girls school until 1996 but ever since the school became co-ed, they've have decent success in qualifying from Ishikawa.
Media ranking: C

Aomori Yamada (青森山田) is a private school from Aomori Prefecture. They have appeared at Koshien a total of 16 times, with their most recent appearance coming in spring 2025. In 2011, the school was involved in a serious incident in which a member of the baseball club was killed by his teammate. As a result, the school was absent from Koshien for several years during the 2010s, though they’ve since managed to recover. The school's soccer team is more successful than its baseball team. Depends of the school

If you are a power house that is supposed to go deep into tournament, its a shameful disastrous loss

But if you managed to pull a upset in qualifiers and be in Koshien, then be there is already the prize, win would be a bonus
>>
>>157291965
first game

Nitta (新田) is a private school from Ehime Prefecture. This will only be the schools 4th appearance at Koshien, with Nitta last making it in summer 2021. Looking at Ehime qualifying, it seems most of the big schools got knocked out early, giving Nitta an easier path to Koshien.
Media ranking: B

Hanamaki Higashi (花巻東) is a private school from Iwate Prefecture. This will be their 20th appearance at Koshien, with them having appeared both last spring and summer. Despite never winning, they are considered a traditional Koshien powerhouse. They are perhaps most famous for being Shohei Ohtani's high school, along with Yusei Kikuchi.
Media ranking: A
>>
>>157294262
I looked it up and ironically Ohtani never even won a game at Koshien. Might've been for the best considering what they do to pitchers.
>>
>>157294441
yeah, hanamaki lost in the first round in both summer 2011 and spring 2012. ohtani probably still got worked to hell and back in the qualifiers and regional tournaments though.

Okayama Gakugeikan (岡山学芸館) is a private school from Okayama Prefecture. This will be the schools 6th Koshien appearance and their third consecutive summer Koshien appearance. Their best ever result was reaching the 3rd round in summer 2024. The schools soccer club won the soccer Koshien in 2023.
Media ranking: C

Tottori Johoku (鳥取城北) is a private school from Tottori Prefecture. This is Johoku's 12th Koshien appearance. Tottori is the weakest prefecture to qualify out of, there were only 21 schools in this years summer qualifiers (down from 23 last year) Johoku is better known for its sumo club, which produced former yokozuna Terunofuji.

i didnt actually notice, was it during the inning change? usually if theres a delay it's for injury reasons, could also be related to the heat

Nah like the first batter, some weird alarm went off for half a second, the umpire called timeout, ran over to the side for half a second, then came back and play resumed immediately
>>
I really don't like bunting when you already have RISP. If you can even get a fly ball to mid outfield, that's enough to accomplish the same thing, with the added chance to actually get a hit. Just feels like when you're 3 runs behind playing small ball in the end of the game is just thinking too small.

Naruto Uzushio (鳴門渦潮) is a public school from Tokushima Prefecture. This will be the schools 13th appearance at Koshien and first since summer 2024. Tokushima is the only prefecture where public schools dominate, in fact, Tokushima has not sent a private school to Koshien in its entire 108 year history.
Media ranking: C

Hachioji Jissen (八王子実践) is a private school from West Tokyo. This is the schools first Koshien appearance. Definitely the Cinderella story of the summer, Jissen managed to qualify for Koshien on the school's 100th anniversary. Their coach is a Hafu named Christopher Robert Kawamoto Boothe, he bounced around in the minor leagues and Taiwan before returning to Japan to coach his alma mater to their first ever Koshien.

the final game for anyone still awake or waking up:

Chukyo (中京) is a private school from Gifu Prefecture. They've been to Koshien 13 times, most recently in summer 2019, when they reached the semifinals. Gifu is a prefecture where both public and private schools are competitive, with neither consistently dominating the other.

Kasumigaura (霞ヶ浦) is a private school from Ibaraki Prefecture. This will be Kasumigaura's fifth appearance at Koshien, with their most recent coming in summer 2024. Meitoku Gijuku (明徳義塾) is a private school from Kochi Prefecture. By far the strongest school in Kochi, Meitoku have made it to Koshien 45 times. They are a boarding school so they suck up talented athletes from around the country, causing them to be much better than their local rivals. (also, 1/3rd of the students are international) They won Koshien once in summer 2002 and have made the semis a bunch of times. Participation in club activities is mandatory.
Media ranking: B

Nichinan Gakuen (日南学園) is a private school from Miyazaki Prefecture. This will be their 15th Koshien appearance and their first since summer 2018. Nichinan Gakuen is historically the most successful school from Miyazaki Prefecture. Their best-ever result was reaching the quarterfinals in summer 2001. No team from Miyazaki has ever won Koshien.

game 2

Yokohama (横浜) is a private school from Kanagawa Prefecture. They have appeared in 40 Koshien tournaments, winning six titles (4 in the spring and 2 in the summer). They most recently won the 2025 spring Koshien and are considered heavy favourites this year as well. Daisuke Matsuzaka attended Yokohama and starred at Koshien in 1998.
Media ranking: A

Okinawa Shogaku (沖縄尚学) is a private school from Okinawa Prefecture. Shogaku are the strongest team from the prefecture, having made it to Koshien 21 times. They are the current reining champions, having won in summer 2025. The school has also won twice in spring Koshien, 1999 and 2008.

game 3

Takaoka Shogyo (高岡商) is a public school from Toyama Prefecture. Takaoka is the most successful team in Toyama, having made it to Koshien 28 times. There are no strong private schools in Toyama so public schools dominate. No team from Toyama has ever won Koshien.
Media ranking: C

Takagawa Gakuen (高川学園) is a private school from Yamaguchi Prefecture. This will be Takagawa's sixth Koshien appearance, with their most recent coming this year's spring Koshien, they lost in the first-round. The school's soccer team has had more success than its baseball team.
Media ranking: B

This is the first game of the second round. Both teams had a bye in the first round, so this is still their first game of the tournament.

correct, it's a random draw. stupid system because they have an uneven number of teams (49) so some teams get a bye. they should just split another prefecture in half like they do with tokyo to make it a 50 team tournament.

Tenri (天理) is a private school from Nara Prefecture. A stereotypical powerhouse, Tenri has made it to Koshien 58 times and has won three times (Summer 1986, 1990, and Spring 1997). They have been remarkably consistent in qualifying for Koshien, attending regularly since the 1950s. The school is also controlled by the Tenrikyo cult/new religion (depending on your interpretation) which is pretty funny.
Media rank: B

Fukuyama (福山) is a public school from Hiroshima prefecture. This will be Fukuyama's first ever Koshien appearance. A quite remarkable underdog story, Fukuyama hadn't even reached the quarter-finals of the Hiroshima qualifiers before this. They even had to field a combined team with other schools in the past because they didn't have enough members in the baseball club.
Media ranking: C
>>
>>157309805
First time AND a public school??? Damn I really want to support Fukuyama. But I'm getting tired. We'll see what happens.
>>
lets go fukuyama
>>
Neat, back in time for the last match. I'm rooting for Fukuyama as well
>>
Is it me or is the field(s) used Japan really dark? Every time they do a slide they seem to get overdramatically dirty. I see they're wetting it so it's easier to get mudded up, but it still feels more than what I expect
>>
Fukayama's already impressing me.

And why's this game so packed?
>>
>>157309880
The dark infield is mainly a thing at Koshien, I think the soil is partly volcanic. Players at koshien love to slide head first into bases so it dirties up the front of their uniform.
>>157309947
The last game of the day is usually the most attended because it's not as hot as the other games. Also people are off work.
>>
Pitcher seems to have trouble controlling the ball and now the bases are loaded, Tabitha
>>
ah cant be getting picked off there

>>
>Tenrikyo (天理教, Tenrikyō) is a Japanese new religion which is neither strictly monotheistic nor pantheistic,[1] originating from the teachings of a 19th-century woman

I've read enough. No religion founded by woman can be true. Fukuyama, destroy these heretics.

>>

>>
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
>>
What made that match so frustrating was that it was actually competitive at first. I don't know what happened after that.

Also, Fukuyama's band was infinitely better. Had some fucking bangers
>>
>>157307335
Russians into baseball must be quite rare but yeah makes sense for a Russian kid growing up in Japan.
>>
>>157310451
I don't think it was that competitive from the start. Even though Tenrikyo only scored one point they always looked in control while Fukuyama had to clinch. Also they collapsed after they relieved their starter pitcher, which had way too many wild pitches through the game to continue. He had 4 deadballs. Also getting picked off twice in a terrible fashion, maybe it was nerves that contributed, but I don't see that match going the other way no matter what
>>
>>157309645
There just aren't enough teams for a proper bracket though. You need 64. A 50th team would just remove a bye for one team.

first game

Yokote (横手) is a public school from Akita Prefecture. While this will be Yokote's second Koshien appearance, it might as well be their first, as their only other appearance came in summer 1969, when they lost in the first round. This gives the school the longest gap between Koshien appearances at this year's tournament, with 57 years between appearances.

Media ranking: C

Tsuruga Kehi (敦賀気比) is a private school from Fukui Prefecture. They have made 23 appearances at Koshien and have won the tournament once, in spring 2015. Tsuruga Kehi is a big fish in a small pond, as Fukui isn't considered one of the stronger baseball prefectures. Four-time NPB All-Star and current Red Sox player Masataka Yoshida is an alumnus of the school.

All i know about shukoku is that in the sengoku jidai. There samurai were pretty weak. They called them Jizamurai or country samurai. Instead of giving everything to one son they would split everything evenly to all sons. This made their samurai so poor they had to farm their own land. Which was frowned upon in the rest of the country. Basically part time samurai. It was a backwater back then.
