>>157290090I am not exaggerating when I say nobody has done more damage to American motorsport than Jim France, at least Hulman's useless bastard grandson only killed one series and didn't kill his own race in the process, Jim let Brian run NASCAR to shit because he was more interested in running a fraudulent sports car turf war that made the 24 Hours of Daytona a backwater race for 15 years, outright fucking murdered AMA pro road racing, and is still actively running flat track into the ground. He has done nothing in life except inheriting a shitpile of money and a stake in Bill France's empire.
>>157290218The alternative was nothing. Faggot.
>>157290320There is still a functioning sports car alternative in America to this day let alone if it didn't have to compete with NASCAR loss spending to squash any rivals and he turned an 11 event, 4 factory team series with a full TV package for multiple classes into literally nothing in 5 years of ownership. Let me make this clear, AMA Pro Road Racing STOPPED EXISTING in absence of any events, entries, or coverage and a completely new European backed organization had to be created just to give America a national championship. (then he had the Daytona 200 run by a club racing organization instead of letting them do it for nearly a decade just to be a cunt)Good promotion and organization can make a difference, but fundamentally as long as people want to race there will be racing.

>>157290471>Let me make this clear, AMA Pro Road Racing STOPPED EXISTING in absence of any events, entries, or coverage and a completely new European backed organization had to be created just to give America a national championship. This sequence of events did not occur solely because of France. Ducati, Kawasaki, and Honda all withdrew as factory teams before DMG bought the rights from AMA. 2009 was an awful year for motorcycle manufacturers and racing took a backseat, keep in mind in the background this is roughly when MotoGP went to 800cc bike and would later introduce the CRT bikes just to get the grid #s up.

>>157290869I'm not saying they did nothing wrong, but suing a supplier is not at all an uncommon technique for a large company to avoid paying what they owe to a smaller ompany. Even if they end up losing, they can cause the smaller company to go bankrupt and dissolve and thus still avoid payment. They will often do this even if the legal costs exceed the price of simply settling the debt properly. Oi vey!

>>157294949>I had 8 sets in a row on my Tracer 900 pick up a punctureFuck, man. At that point, I'm guessing it's your road conditions or your ability to read them (jk). I've run out of fuel, had electrical failures and put the fucking thing in the ditch on 129 the Dragon, which was absolutely on me and super lucky it was on the uphill side. But our roads around here are really fucking nice (we pay tax out the ass for them) so picking up punctures isn't a huge concern for me.I have fucked a couple sports car tires on pot holes because my dampers were shot... what are you running as far as those are concerned? Can you soften up your jonce settings? What kind of punctures are you getting? Side wall failures or tread punctures?

>>157295139>I'm guessing it's your road conditionsIts exactly that, the local council is dumping stone chippings all over the mountain back roads i usually drive on, the thing ive found is the michelins and pirelli's aren't able to deal with it, those chippings are getting through the inner carcass, but so far even with a load of surface cuts and holes none of these chippings are getting through the bridgestones (On my second set)This is why i come on here being a complete nut job about tyres, Its costing me thousands on new sets and tyre repairs for years, so far the bridgestones seem to be bullet proof.

I know the fat tread blocks suck ass on smooth roads and they wear faster, but they suffer abuse much better, ir so I understand. Total Fraga dominance
>>157302457No. There's been a lot of cases they've begged for gravel. Some paved runoff can be good where there's tons of room so they don't get ragdolled but when walls are any kind of consideration whatsoever they need gravel, otherwise even with air fence the rider and the motorcycle are probably going to hit it in the same spot so they either hit a very hard motorcycle or get hit by a very hard motorcycle. The reality is track owners like pavement because it's cheap and easy to maintain and promoters like it because you no longer get beached cars out of the race but whenever the car racers complain they say it's for bikes and whenever the motorcycle racers complain they say it's for cars. If you look at the tracks really specialized for motorcycles like Jerez they have almost no paved runoff except for little overruns for blowing corner entries.
Even a track memed for being a painted parking lot like CotA, having been built with motorcycles as a primary consideration has gravel on very turn before you get to the fence.
>>157302141Thats the same thing that happened to Zarco in GP, except 10 times worse.
>>157302697>>157302738What we need is a a type of gravel where you can press a button, and it becomes solid, so cars don't get beached. Then you press another button and it goes back to loose.Business idea

Whats so ridiculous about the Toyota's this year is how every car in GJR and 23XI has top 10 pace week in and week out, and only get shuffled down from errors or getting caught in wrecks. When was the last time one of those two teams had a car(let alone multiple) that was just off pace all day like what you see from the HMS or Penske chevy and fords? Its like an 8 car team just always jamming up the top 15. When Corey Heim(Good driver but still a rookie who is only doing a few races this year) can just hop into the 4th 23XI car and just live in the top 10 is nonsense.>>157307319They definitely need blue flags at Indy, it was such a sham that Palou won a couple years ago from drafting a pair of lapped cars.
Blue flags are stupid when pitting can put you back out right in front of the leader
>>157307319>given IndyCar does not allow cars to regain their lap under caution. You get free laps back if the leaders pit thoughever.>>157307481Traditional wavebys always accounted for that anyways, if you dropped off the lead lap because of pitting earlier than the leaders then naturally on the next yellow they would need to pit and you wouldn't and you would go back around to the end of the lead lap. It might cost you some relative track position between out of the points backmarker shitters but that's what you get. Current rules let you then pit again too.
>>157306710HUGE CRASH

>>157306849Unfortunately, NASCAR is more interested in ruining O'Reilly and Trucks than fixing Cup.
Encouraging to see Trackhouse come off an off week with good speed. The car change seems to have hit them harder than others, tho Spire has the cheater JGR setups so there's obv an asterisk there. Ross is a top 8 driver with the car, maybe even a bit better than that, and maybe now the organization has found something. All that said I still think they need to jump on the HMS engine bandwagon in the offseason. I don't even think their issue is power as ECR has never struggled there, but a bigger bond with the only team Chevy cares about can't hurt. Either that or become the Dodge flagship, but there's so much uncertainty there that's a bad idea imo.
>>157308291How does this narrative work that all of Hendrick's setups are junk because Chevy changed noses but somehow all of JGR's Toyota setups work
>>157308332The aero nose changes have impacted all of the Chevy cars obviously, but it tells me that JGR's advantage isn't aero, it's mechanical. The body being completely irrelevant and all of the amazing JGR setups from last year translating seamlessly to Spire makes it pretty obvious. JGR knows something other teams don't, particularly at high speed cookie cutters, and especially on old tires.
>>157297875Kreepy Krall is still employed by Flo?
>>157308529He's employed by ARCA
Larson wins the Cappy!now get a cup win for gods sake
>>157308375Reminds me of that year Harvick and Hamlin were both bleeding tires and won like every race cuz they were a half second faster than everyone 30 laps into a run. And then NASCAR starting doing those rando tests where they dunked tires in water lol. Yoders simply found a way to cheat that NASCAR hasn't caught yet, and now Spire knows about it. There's not enough room to freelance on these cars to explain their across the board advantage. NASCAR obv thought it had to do with those splitter braces, which they updated rules on recently, but that isn't it. It's something in the underbody. And Rick Hendrick has to be pissed the fuck off that Gabehart hasn't shared it when them.
>>157308567The splitter trick was a decoy and straight out of Smokey's playbook. Gluck said it was "one of many little advantages Toyota has", Keselowski said it was a big deal but it hasn't hurt Toyota at all the last 2 races.
Something I'd like to see in NASCAR is some sort of roller that goes out and picks up rubber from the groove in practice. They've dumbed down p&q so much that the only chance you have to qualify well is running your lap in final 3rd, but you also can't pass, so if you qualify in back you finish in back. It takes like 15-20 cars to go clean the track, so obviously NASCAR could do that between practice and quals so everyone gets a fair shot to show their speed.

This looks fun as hellhttps://x.com/i/status/2086460466377687133
>>157307439>Toyota's this yearFirst of all, yes to all of that. >They definitely need blue flags at Indy, it was such a sham thatIndyCar does have blue flags, but it is just to inform the driver that there is a faster car behind them if they are still on the same lap. It becomes a "command blue" when they are already a lap down. So if they are already a lap down, they can't race to keep the cars on the lead lap behind them. The thinking is that IndyCar does not have any gimmick for getting a lap back beside just driving faster, so the back markers have a huge incentive to make the leader really work to pass them. I honestly think it's pretty based, even if we get some retarded results like the 2025 Indy 500 ending. I also don't really think lap traffic really changed the results of yesterday's race.
>>157310442>IndyCar does not have any gimmick for getting a lap backThey do though, they just never talk about it and then act surprised when someone gets 4 laps back at Indy without ever passing the leader on track.>>157309973Maybe in some totally fucking naive idealist world that works, but in the real world you have teammates/development drivers/setup sharers playing Roller Derby and blocking harder than they would for position because they have nothing to lose then pulling over for the next guy. The only way you can have fair lapping is for them to gtfo. NASCAR has had several races totally cancered by lapper teammates aero blocking too but they pretend you can still just bumper the guy out of the way if he's too much of a nuisance.
>>157308567>>157308700Everybody pretty much agrees it was some deal under the table from the offseason lawsuit right? Its the only thing i can think of that would cause all the Toyota's to become title winning cars with the flip of a switch. It would be one thing if it was just Denny, but when a shitter like Ty Gibbs who was unable to hang in cup for years and had that negative stuff released about him during the suit suddenly running top 3 in points its hard to not look at it with suspicion.
What are some coincidences that you find in motorsports?
>>157310800It’s all a carnival
>>157308567>It's something in the underbody.IDK, you would assume an aero advantage would be more pronounced at, but the Toyotas seem to be especially good at accelerating out of the corner (Reddick gapping SVG at COTA) and on restarts. In fact, it's a lot like the Myers Shank Acura at Daytona a few years back. Maybe they have some weird tire gimmick?>>157310681It really does feel like they are up to something and NASCAR is simply ignoring it. Aside from tire magic, they only thing I can think is that they are just straight up getting more air into the engine.

It's also not a Toyota thing, because the Legacy guys are largely irrelevant still, and as other anons have noted, Spire is suddenly leagues better than its historical performance after getting a hold of their setup. But I will also say I think Gibbs was due. >>157323774>they’ll field a Mustang GT3 in Ford Racing factory coloursOhthankGod.>Christopher Mies, Dennis Olsen, and Frédéric VervischIt's a little much to hope for a win, but that a strong lineup of drivers I already like and it will be interesting to watch them.>>157326977>100% dimensional inspection on all incoming materials

>>157330003>Not the EvoOdd. I wonder if it was an issue of getting the updated car approved in time.

>>157331704Basically every series uses them.IMSA might get away with not using them because they have torque limits and sensors that detect when the limit is exceeded.
>>157326977KWAB
>>157329866They do a ton of shit outside our borders, too. I'm probably more well read on real life spy shit than motor racing at this point.
>>157332035no, IMSA still have intake restrictors in addition to the torque sensor.
