Their high-leverage relief sucks -- literally just Scott rn. I will say, Dodgers playing cute at 2025 deadline is what got them here now. Coulda gone after the likes of Miller, or more reasonably, Duran or Jax. Instead, they played it safe with Stewart and Call and got pidgeonholed into signing Diaz. It worked out for them last year and I'm still of the belief that it could work for them again this year. Much like Tucker signing, it's dumb af to flex your muscle exclusively in FA; Dodgers should be targeting the pre-arb guys and blowing teams out of the water with their farm talent and then dangling massive extensions over their newly acquired MLers. Unfortunately, they're a bit locked-in on the position side until the current wave of deals expire.

I'm much more worried with Cronenworth, although his salary is relatively peanuts and they desperately need left-handed bats. He had a couple injuries this year including the long concussion, so I'm willing to give him a little line. Padres did very well with Merrill and Tatis extensions so I imagine after 2027/2028 if they have a couple down years they'll be able to bounce back quickly. Long-term, the pitching will be a huge concern but Preller does a pretty good job with the BP and courting BOR starters and bounceback candidates to work with Niebla. New owners and CBA will be an interesting wrinkle.
