i do hope cunha doesn't start at 9 again for this match, rashford is nailed in this since he can be clutch against city, for RW and ST i'm not as sure. you'd think Sesko deserves his start but it's like he's still gonna be staggered again.
>>
>>157714307
Only way it can be /mug/ worthy is United blowing a comfortable lead or doing what they did at Everton (being 1+ goal up with literal mins to go). Sadly both teams can't lose. If United win, 7pts from 12 isn't that bad. If they lose then 4pts from 12 is bad. If City win they're 12/12 like Arse.

Either way it's funny. United lose and their fans sneed. If City lose, their plastic bandwagoners sneed (tho they're not as numerous or popular as United). A draw is acceptable, but City losing would at least get rid of those City mongs going on about 'muh unbeaten season incoming'.

United had the easiest first 5 (City being the only tough one but it's at home and United often beat City at OT) and should be on 12/15 by the int break. Minimum. But then again, people expected Liverpool with a £420m front three to maybe score a goal against Fulham with a fading Leno in goal and literal whomst've defenders.
>>

I know you're shitposting but people unironically believe this. Everybody plays the same amount of times and Arsenal therefore had a harder one due to the schedule, way it was laid out, was harder. Add on top they played more games than any other PL team and, ta-da, tougher schedule.
>>
>>157714731
I am not shit posting, they had the easiest 38 game schedule in the prem based on the average total points of their opponents

of course it was the easiest schedule because they're better than all the other teams in the league. they have the easiest schedule this season too
>>
>>157714779

>>
>>157714746
You can only decide that post season, if we go off the 24/25 season position average then it's Liverpool had the easiest schedule for 25/26. But objectively, the team with the toughest schedule was Arsenal. Like you can't keep the PL in a vacuum and say their other competitions didn't affect that.

Was it like that one when Rashford was offside and shielded the ball for 40 yards, impacted the movement of the defender, and the goalkeeper didn't know what day it was before Bruno scored?
>>
>>157720952
I'd forgotten about that. Did PGMOL ever explain themselves for that one? Can't remember if Howard Webb and Michael Owen talked about it in their show.
But yeah, I guess? I'd say Enzo was interfering less than how much Trashford was back then, but I feel like there still was a very clear impact from his presence. Lisandro has to adjust and Lammens also has to adjust accordingly. Commentators were mentioning Dorgu's slight deflection but I don't know what that has to do with anything and tbf it doesn't seem like the commentators do either.
Speaking of, I thought commentators could hear everything the referee and VAR was discussing. Or do they only get snippets?
As I'm typing this, the coverage on Sky have just shown the official definition for offside, and the commentators think United are going to get an apology so clearly they think VAR fucked up massively.
tl:dr VAR fucked up seemingly.

They still deserved to lose and I'm honestly sure City would have managed to score soon after, they had all the momentum, but that is legitimately one of the worst calls I've seen in a long time.
>>
>>157721798
it wasn't even the worst VAR call in that game
>>
someone post the var cartoon so we can shut these doubters up once and for all
>>
>>157721833
It was, unless you are considering Foden's red not being reversed.
>b-but Bruno
Bruno should have gotten a yellow, but VAR can't reverse no bookings to yellows, only to clear and obvious reds (or not clear and obvious reds). Foden's red was not clear and obvious error so it stood. That would be fixed by allowing VAR to step in on yellows, but then we are going to have 12 yellow cards per match and people will complain.
>>
Perfect penandes game. Doing "i am le master ragebaiter" early and then getting completely out game managed by city for the rest of it.
>>
>>157721237
With Rashford I think they said because he hadn't touched it he wasn't interfering with play, but obviously you don't need to touch the ball to interfere with play. A bit like how players who block the line of vision of the goalkeeper when they're standing in an offside position are still interfering with play. I'm fairly certain they changed the rules after that so in the future if someone did what Rashford did, and what I'm assuming has happened in the match today and why United are going to get an apology, would be considered offside.
>I thought commentators could hear everything the referee and VAR was discussing. Or do they only get snippets?
I'm not sure how that works either. Usually they'll give you the VAR decision right before the ref does which makes me think they hear everything. On the other hand I've seen it when they've said what the VAR decision will be and it's went the opposite way so it's a little hard to tell. At one point I thought they were just watching replays of the incident and came to whatever conclusion seemed most likely.
>>
>>157721798
He's not interfering because Martinez never stops running to make the ball and still doesn't.

Martinez wouldn't have played it differently if he was onside.
>>
>>157722094
Martinez has to change his run and try to cover two players because of the offside player playing the ball. The opposite side of playing to the whistle is that you do in fact have to cover the offside player, hence why it interferes with the play. Additionally, Lammens has to cover both angles of attack and Enzo is 100% trying to play the ball and as such forcing the cover.
If United weren't a retarded team and this was happening up the other end with Cunha diving for a cross from offside and Sesko cleaning up at the post people here would be screaming blue murder.
>>
3 years ago Rashford scored a similar goal in this fixture against City where one player (Bruno) was offside and pulled the defender away and the goal stood anyway. This is justice for that.

And if I recall correctly, the general consensus was that the refs got the call abysmally wrong and the goal should not have stood. United paying off PGMOL, everything in favour of the red team, would have been a red card if it was Xhaka, etc. etc.
I think we would have had /mug/ with or without this bullshit goal, I think United deserve to lose for failing to do anything against a possession based side reduced to 10 men for 70 minutes, but it doesn't stop it being a bullshit goal.

Deflection is irrelevant to the offside call, whether you are on team onside or offside the deflection isn't the core of the dispute. It basically comes down to whether you consider Enzo as meaningfully interfering with the play, things that only retards would argue include Haaland being off (Dalot plays him on), Martinez or Dorgu deflecting the ball (deflections aren't considered when deciding offside) or Enzo touching the ball first (he didn't, was several inches clear).

yeh I was thinking maybe that matters but then again players could just goal hang and players crossing could try that all the time. Although Enzo is interfering in a way that should not be an issue because there wasn't a player near Haaland and it didn't make any difference to the goal. IF defenders already know a player is offside he is irrelevant, so the keeper should only have concentrated on Haaland being able to attempt to score from that angle.

nobody has a problem with Haaland being in an onside position. The issue is Fernandes who CLEARLY ATTEMPTS TO PLAY THE BALL AND DIRECT IMPACTS HIS OPPONENT WHO IS TRYING TO DEFEND HIM

the logic tho as Enzo was offside then it didn't matter even if he did play the ball, it would then be offside say if he scored or touched the ball. He was clearly in an offside position so why did the utd players care about him and instead left Haaland who scored? Why did the keeper care about Enzo when he should have cared about Haaland who was the real threat?
