Friendlies are used by the FA president to make easy money.
If the match is at home, he looks for someone willing to play for peanuts and then sell tickets to locals at a high price.
If the match is away, he looks for countries desperate to have Messi and charges them a lot of money to show up.
The plan only works if Messi is there, hence why he begged him for one last match.
