We can have all of this and a full home and away double round robin. I think we should combine indigenous round with magic round and have it in the pre season as part of the pre season competition
>>
It just makes more sense to have the welcome to country at the start of the season and more importantly at magic round where everyone has travelled far and wide to it, bring the multicultural round into that too and it’ll be even better

thoughts on the world cup so far?

i started watching league this year so im the target audience and its been pretty demoralising seeing how one sided games are. really makes the sport look niche and and a glorified afl world cup for ausnz the same way the world seris is just american teams. at least when i would catch the union world cup it was competitive and even small nations didnt get completely blown out.

i think most of the nrl money coming into super league should be put into the french teams and italy and the other home nations. using all the money to make us as good or better than ausnz doesnt really help the sport worldwide. the super league are already doing a big match in dublin so they agree it seems
>>
>>158477494
everything going as expected to be honest
>>
>>158477494
I think if the world cup was tiered into two separate tournaments it would be much more enjoyable. But I enjoy watching rugby league at any level, whether it's NRL or Toyota Cup.
>>
>>158477494
>makes the sport look niche
Rugby league is basically a sport played professionally in 2 Australian states and the M62 in Northern England. Though if you're good at it in PNG, you'll be worshiped as a god.

Before the 1960s France were good. England started declining in the 1970s.
Australia nearly killed itself (financially not footy wise) during the 90s super league war, but survived and has now grown to its current position.

This is so far a great world cup tbf, since with Tonga and Samoa there's 4 competitive teams. Fiji's getting better and PNG will be a giant once the PNG Chief's player pipeline comes online. The focus is spending some of that tv money on international/ethnic development so the international game isn't a joke anymore.

If you want to watch England be competitive. They're ranked 1st in the wheelchair event by a decent margin.

Dictator PVL should've tard wrangled moses to remain a lebo this cup. Then lebanon might actually be decent and the footy gods wouldn't have had to break his hammy at training.

Nothern Hemisphere is a dead duck mate. NRL singlehandedly saved international rugby league by inventing Tonga and Samoa out of thin air, whilst every NH nation has gone further and further backwards.
>>
>>158478200
All the Pacific teams are just the ausnz B team. The eligibility rules in league are pretty ridiculous making teams full second string foreigners just so a nation can compete. Ireland did this for years with English players and it wasn't until they invested on youth development and fielded an actual born and raised in Ireland team that they had success. A bunch of aussies and kiwis putting on a Fiji and tonga shirt doesn't grow the sport there. Look at Lebanon that proves it.
>>
>>158478468
NRL doesn't pay much they get about 30k to 40k a year but to be selected in the RLWC is great you get an extra 3k per game which is pretty sweet in these times plus french etc teams get a free trip to Australia (why do you think they get fatigued in 10 minutes) hint its not cause they're training lol
>>
>>158477494
this is the most competitive RLWC ever, sadly
>>
>>158478468
ehh, if the home countries watch more of the international games thats a win. Having a more competitive team makes for better tv, even if they're aussies.

>full second string foreigners
Some of these aussie coconuts are good enough to be first picks in team Aus. This is probably the weakest Aus team in 3 decades, since a few of the guys wouldn't have been picked for origin this year or were in the extended squad.

>>158478510
I think NZders gets 20k a game? You could redistribute 84k to all 10 nations and get 8.4k per player per game. Or 7k + small prize money.

If the nrl buys more quality hotels then they can house all the teams in good hotels for no profit margin when oceania hosts events.
>>
>>158475703
She needs to establish that she didn't get the joke at the same time as explaining the joke, and was too cowardly to use "this writer," as in "180 is the highest possible darts score, as this writer later learned."
>>
>>158478468
We dance to our own tune sweety. Australia is the Roman Empire of the Pacific, and Western Sydney is the metropole all its people settle in. Lebanon is grossly overachieving too and certainly won't be helped by involving the actual basket case of a country into any role in the sport.
>>
>>158478701
Emperor PVL needs child scarifies so there's enough young blood for lebo Moses's anti-aging treatments
>>
The Chiefs are going to single handedly invent a national identity for PNG out of ten thousand waring tribes. The very first week-in, week-out, in-group for the entire nation: television, radio, a uniform. Thousands of native languages will go extinct because it's not the language the Chiefs are commentated in.
>>
Lebanon are fine, they just need to be looksmatched with the right partners: PNG, France, and the Cookies (if you need an even number.)
>>
>>158478725
whats with those white players on PNG thats some american saying they're native because their great great great grandmother was a cherokee princess shit
>>
>>158478725
bit racist thinking they're as dumb as us
they have had hardly the conditioning we have over the decades
they're going to read the 1st peem pist poosday and see one token PNG player, "to make them a real png peem" and then amalgamate, march and insist on a proper REAL PNG peem not one that hides in their compound (runway included) and returns to sydney on the weekend (tax free flights)

Chappo is growing the game
>Chapman was seen sporting a white striped two-piece string bikini, while teammates also looked more than comfortable flashing some skin.
>The 24-year-old winger’s career has exploded in 2026, becoming the biggest social media figure in women’s rugby league.
>The Gold Coast Titans fan favourite’s stardom has extended beyond Australian borders this season with American sporting content accounts sharing reels and images of her across X, Instagram and TikTok.
>Chapman’s Instagram following has gone from 163,000 in February to 503,000 followers.
>According to available social media data, content posted by Chapman and shared by other social media channels has an off-the-charts engagement rate.
>That same data rates her an “international digital powerhouse” when it comes to lifestyle content and on-field highlights.

>Former NSW State of Origin enforcer Trent Merrin has been charged over his alleged involvement in a peptide operation.
>The /nrl/ family can confirm the 37-year-old was arrested and charged in Sydney on Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation by Strike Force Antree detectives..
>The NRL premiership winner has been charged over alleged participation in a syndicate that manufactured peptide supplements.
>NSW Police released a statement on Wednesday.
>“Strike Force Antree was established in July 2026 by detectives from State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad – with assistance from Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) – to investigate the alleged illegal manufacture, supply and distribution of peptides,” police said.
>“On July 24, strike force detectives executed a crime scene warrant in Shell Cove, where police uncovered an alleged clandestine peptide manufacturing facility and large quantities of restricted substances.”
>In an unrelated matter, Merrin last year avoided conviction after pleading guilty to charges relating to a $140,000 crypto currency theft from a former teammate.
>The former prop was sentenced to an 18 month community release order without conviction in December, 2025.
>He was found to have siphoned the funds from the Bitcoin account of his former teammate Kaide Ellis.
>Merrin’s lawyer Paul McGirr said his client had repaid the money to Ellis.
