Is the pirate bay still good?
test
I still find it rather useful.
>>1304727are there other sites that I should consider?
>>13047281337x.to or join a private tracker like torrent leech
It was never good but it served a purpose. Anyone using it after 2014 is retarded though.
"the" pirate bay went defunct in 2009, every "pirate bay" since is just using the name, and they appear and disappear at random. sometimes it's full of malware and honeypots, sometimes it's completely empty. it's not worth shit anymore. use 1337x or rutracker if you dont wanna join private ones
>>1304984not sure
>>1304984TBP, RARBG, etc are all public trackers. everything on them is accessable publically, ie you can search them, view the whole swarm, all their content is freely available to anyone.private trackers require signing up, most require some validation that you aren't a fed and some even require payment (rarely). but since it's private theres no way to get their content without signing up, even if you had a magnet link or torrent file your IP wouldn't be whitelisted and they wouldn't seed anything to you. thus makes it much more secure and private, as your ISP for example can't snoop and see what torrents you're downloading, only that you are downloading something. also means feds and DMCA can't find it and shut it down. they almost always require that you seed a certain ratio or time though, leechers get kicked really fast as it slows the whole swarm down for no mutual benefit.tl;dr a tracker distrobutes and tracks torrent pieces, a private one is, well, private
>>1304998Sorry but you don't know a lot about private trackers.>private trackers require signing upCorrect.>most require some validation that you aren't a fedThere is not a single one who does this.>some even require paymentWrong. (There would be one chinese tracker, which could be an exception to that rule.)>your IP wouldn't be whitelisted Technically wrong.>as your ISP for example can't snoopWrong. (And your ISP is not the problem.)>also means feds and DMCA can't find itWrong (See Example 1)>as it slows the whole swarm downThat isn't the reason.Example 1:Because you are so full of knowledge, this happened recently:>Last summer (*summer 2023*), Lithuania amended its Code of Administrative Offenses, >allowing media watchdog LRTK to fine pirates, without going to court.>Over the past several months, dozens of fines were handed out. The targets >were first-time offenders and all received the minimum fine of 140 euros. >The early fines were almost exclusively issued to users >of the private torrent tracker Linkomanija for sharing pirated films. >According to LRTK’s latest information, it’s also keeping an eye >on users of ‘private’ torrent tracker, Torrent.lt.As the reader the assumption is: the users of these trackers were seeding from their home connection. The thing is the change of law in this situation in Lithuania. There was the situation with Danishbits. In theory a closed swarm without an anti piracy agent is different than a public swarm.Use your brain if you want to use private trackers.
btdig.com has a lot of hard to find links but many dead as well. I think it aggregates from other torrent search engines but not sure.Any alternatives to btdig?
>>1304472That guy somehow manages to have a more punchable face than Ben Shapiro who he tries to make fun of.
>>1304472Are you?
depends on what you're downloading
>>1304472https://bt4gprx.com/ Here's one of the biggest aggregators of torrent sites. You're welcome.
>>1304472i've heard some say that the pirate bay is shady so instead i use limetorrents but idk if that's good either since i'm new to torrenting so i'd appreciate if an anon can tell me which trackers are good
>>1304728knaben.eu is a database that gets torrents from pretty much all big torrent sources. Piratebay, 1337x, some japanese shit you name it.
>>1304472Yes. It doesn't show real peers number though.
>>1304799any good ones registering new users?
>>1307725this is the most silicon valley, simplified torrent engine ive ever seen>>1307744depends on what you want but torrentgalaxy is my goto>>13047991337x lost my trust but if you double triple check the shit ur downloading then it can be viable>>1307816wouldnt count on that to be super trustworthy then
>>1305103let us not forget about what.cd either (may it rest in peace)
>>1304472Yes. It's down right now so no Homeworld 3 for me I guess
>>1304965>1337xI also use 1337x but for software like games only download from uploaders that are trusted by the community (like FitGirl and Dodi), 1337x allows IGGGames to upload torrents that are known to contain malware. I also use 1337x because QxR uploads there.
>>1304728>rutracker.net for ROMs and ISOs>pornolab for porn in general
>>1304728Rutracker and soulseek for music
>>1304728torrentgalaxy is the main one I've been using since.I also got a torrentleech account when rarbg fell that I occasionally use. I have ~90 points aquiring small torrents running in the background on my nas, they never upload but they generate enough of the tracker points that I'll never have an issue with ratio.

>>1308257It was never there to begin with and isnt there right now. I checked a bunch of others. No homeworld 3. Odd.
