25* years for Fellowship. The movie trilogy is legitimately so good and in the sweet spot of coming out before Cinematic Universe slop, but after the booming rise of CGI getting good. It remains epic, influential, with legendary behind the scenes moments, and a common entry point for getting into movies, fantasy, storytelling, reading, or games in this case.
It also doesn't hurt that Tolkien is almost more influential to modern books than Shakespeare.

The actual game is okay. I think there is enough of a collector/player base that just buys a couple of minis every once in a while to keep things going, and the upkeeping the contract with a release like 1-4 times a year is lucrative in comparison to letting the contrast expire.

Sealed is fucked because of coalition, probably makes cube a requirement to enjoy balanced limited. If you're buying a box to flesh out your collection then it all works out in the end, but the randomization is faction stacked so you get entire packs of "play this faction."

There's collectivist angle allowing "all people" to pursue their dreams, which is pretty Lawful.
But also dependence on slave labor (drugged out of their mind to stay content and compliant), which seems pretty Evil.

It's because 5e24 is a reversion back to a lot of 4e philosophy and one of those is freely buyable and craftable magic items, they're an expected part of your "build". I've been digging more though feats and well, found Crossbow Expert. the 2024 version kinda stinks (Instead of the BA attack, it's free TWF fighting style with Light crossbows) and the free hand crossbow shot is kinda seen as OP... so part of me is thinking why not give it the same treatment that Polemaster had, just make the damage dice a d4 but also allow any type of crossbow to use it. It is a extra shot, but it's low damage no matter the weapon used.

Ability Score Increase. Increase your Dexterity score by 1, to a maximum of 20.

Ignore Loading. You ignore the Loading property of all crossbow weapons. If you are holding one of them, you can load a piece of ammunition into it even if you lack a free hand.

Firing in Melee. Being within 5 feet of an enemy doesn't impose Disadvantage on your attack rolls with crossbows.

Well its April 1st again. I return first of all to remember one of /tg/'s finest works: Dungeons the Dragoning 40,000 7th edition. Last year I gave the game a revision, stapling both books together so it could rival a phonebook.

The player character is "supposed" to have quite limited information, with the details of statblocks "supposed" to come from knowledge-related skills rather than sourced externally, though 5e doesn't have much clear framework for how good a skill roll gives what result and the bonus scaling is a horrible constraint.

It's a holdover from Gygaxian adversarial DMing where the players were expected to puzzle these things out from the results of roles, to my understanding.

Any suggestions for systems built for urban fantasy settings? I know there's World of Darkness but I'm looking for something that is more combat focused and less story telling. Monster of the Week has been suggested to me but I'm just not a big fan of PBTA, the systems just don't feel like a game to me as bullshit as that sounds.
