We're going to have to come up with a phrase for the new era of Warhammer 40,000 ushered in by the Amazon TV show, DoW 4 and Total War 40k, and increased market value of Games Workshop.

nu40k isn't going to cover it. nu40k is already bad enough for many of us from headier days like 1st through 4th edition. You are going to see horrific debasements to the thing you know and love that you will still see with your eyes closed. Every 80 IQ person with internet access will have an opinion on Warhammer without knowing what a Tau Remora Drone is.

Frenopolis is a gamified tetragrammaton clothed in the memetic zeitgeist.

This thread is for discussion and development logging.

It's easiest to learn with YGO/MTG experience.

It's not for sale, but you can request a free physical 2-player 90 card set by following the instructions in the description of this video:
https://youtu.be/oPoBUoagO_k
(No payment or identifying info required)

Playmats have arrived and will be sent out with the playtesting kits. Anyone who already received a set with the shipping label name "Current Resident" should be receiving one by 1/10/26. If your shipping label was not sent to "Current Resident", email or DM me on telegram so I can send you one.

Shadow of the Demon Lord cuts the six stats down to four, so it's just Strength, Agility, Intellect and Will. All attributes are desirable for everybody so it's a meaningful tradeoff, and it means things like being a fit and strong mage or thief are actually worthwhile and not trap options.
While it's theoretically possible for somebody to be a roid-raging jacked power lifter with horrendous cardiovascular and immune health, vs a tiny Japanese housewife who can't lift 40 pounds but will live to 106 and never gets sick, the separation between CON and STR in fantasy games is largely irrelevant because the fantasy archetypes who have a bunch of one also have the other, Conan does not get winded running half a mile and his heart is stronger than Secretariat's. Fantasy enemies that are really strong are also really tough as well, like dragons, giants, orcs, trolls, vampires, werewolves, etc.

Separating Strength from Constitution pretty much just exists as a way to make playing a martial character more difficult, since it means if they want to be strong AND tough they need twice as much ability score luck or investment, while spellcasters are fine having the strength of a commoner but the constitution of a hydra.

Why would anyone want to play anything other than a witcher in a The Witcher game? Whether TT or vidya. That's the whole pull of it. Why would you want to be, say, a dwarf in the witcher world?

>Parties made up of people who would never actually cooperate
Player characters by default are always exeptional people who are beyond or above the regular norms, standarts and expectations of their kin.

So player charcters being all from people who usually wouldnt go along but do in this instance is playing as intended.

>>97355437

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

I've run Dark Tower. I found it perfectly serviceable. The dungeon itself didn't blow my mind or anything, but the opening setup with the village is what really led to a lot of memorable play, as the players found themselves determined to save the poor villagers only to slowly figure out what was actually going on. My crew had a good time with it.

>How is the advanced mutant companion?
Personally, I don't like it. It adds a bunch of player-facing character options, backgrounds, and feat-fagging that feel like a 3e-ification of Mutant Future.

It's the opposite of what Mutant Future would need, IMHO:
1) More monsters and expanded tables for wilderness and dungeon encounters to make the environment a bit more varied and interesting.
2) A dungeon generator.
But buildfagging is what sells, and often it's all that people who publish booklets understand, as seems to be the case here.

I took a quick look. I'm curious to read it, but the maps seem substantially less interesting jelqed than the Thracia ones. Isn't what I presume to be the last part, Set's Tower, a bit too linear?

It's not a 3.5 lite imo. It's more like B/X with feats and a Traveller 2d6 skills with a sensibly compressed list of then. To me, it scratches the 5e itch of "more customization than OSR, but similarly fast to onboard players and prep" better than 5e, and especially 5.5e.

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

Vampires also start as people just like you and me, and I doubt they're the only ones.

You're avoiding the question. Is there some inherent property of the supernatural that makes people evil?
>>
>Vampires also start as people just like you and me
Not from what I know
>You're avoiding the question. Is there some inherent property of the supernatural that makes people evil?
It's the corrupting aspect of it. These things stop being human, some pretend they still are like you or I and others don't even bother. I have never met a creature that didn't deserve death. There always was something that they've done.
>>
>>97356525
Don't tell me you believe that "they're demons running around in people's corpses" nonsense. Regardless, in summary you do believe that there's something inherently corruptive to the supernatural, that it strips away one's humanity. Where does the buck stop on that? Some people here have been claiming to have the ability to do "magic". Is that going to strip away their humanity and make them a monster?

> 'expected for the species' is not a biological fact, it's a socialised determination
No it isn't. It is determined by environmental factors. The inability to lift and carry your infant child is obviously below the bare minimum threshold of physical fitness for any reproductive success at all, ergo the inability to do so is undoubtedly weakness.
>everyone is weak in some way or another
Yeah, everyone is flawed. This is common knowledge. Everyone has a weakness. Depression is such a weakness. Missing an arm is a weakness. Being deaf is a weakness. Being fat is a weakness. All of these things reduce your reproductive fitness. Being physically fit, smart, motivated, tall and handsome are all strengths. This is basic knowledge.
>You cannot distinguish someone who is 'weak' from somebody who is 'genuinely impaired'
Correct. There is no difference. That's the whole point. Re-read my posts until you understand this.
>you are entitled to your opinion - but it is not objective.
There's no such thing as an objective opinion. I've never claimed mine was. Stop imagining things. The rest of your posts is just strawmen and passive aggressive assumptions about my intentions, and since you don't make me dinner and do my dishes, I'm not gonna bother correcting them.
I wish you the best of luck in acquiring sufficient strength to overcome your weakness with as much sincerity as anyone can on this godforsaken Swiss trout farming forum.
>>
>>97356749

>It is determined by environmental factors.
Again, this doesn't position you in the way you think it does. Environmental factors produce variance. They do not define obligation. If drought causes half a population to be undernourished, that does not make malnutrition a “weakness” in the moral or dispositional sense—it makes it a constraint. You keep sliding between descriptive evolutionary outcomes (“this trait reduces reproductive success”) and normative judgment (“this trait is weakness”).

These are not the same thing. It is the naturalistic fallacy warned against by evolutionary biologists. You are thinking, in your own terms, like a woman.

>Inability to lift your infant is below the bare minimum threshold of physical fitness for reproductive success.

This is demonstrably false because humans have evolved to be social and cooperative animals, like other simians. Reproductive success has never depended on solitary male capacity and injured, ill, elderly, and disabled individuals have reproduced successfully for tens of thousands of years. Human fitness is not solely about individual robustness.

By your logic, a man with a broken arm during infancy is “weak”, a man with malaria is “weak” or a man injured in a hunt is “weak”. But these are expected, common and survivable states precisely because humans are not lone wolves, regardless of what your favourite podcasting bro thinks. Your “bare minimum threshold” is a fantasy projection, not evolutionary reality.

>“Everything that reduces reproductive fitness is weakness”

That isn't a meaningful category, it is loser labelling after the fact. Natural selection is not a moral tribunal. It does not assign fault. It filters outcomes. Calling every disadvantage “weakness” is not hard-nosed realism—it’s category vandalism engaged in by women and leftists.

>“Correct. There is no difference. That’s the whole point.”

If weakness = impairment, then weakness is not corrigible by exhortation, is not evidence of character failure, does not imply responsibility for onset, cannot be “fixed” by willpower alone. Your rhetoric has relied on exactly the opposite being true, so thanks for proving my point for me.

You don't cure deafness by listening harder, paralysis by wanting to be able to walk more, or depression by redefining it as contemptible.

Either depression is an impairment and so your strength rhetoric is meaningless OR depression is a moral weakness and so your equivalences make no sense. You can't have both, but you want both.

>There's no such thing as an objective opinion. I've never claimed mine was. Stop imagining things.

This is a dodge, not a defence. IF your claims are merely personal evaluation, then they have no explanatory authority, nor grounded in biology as you seem to think. Your half-arsed musings aren't a corrective to hundreds of medical studies. They are a story you tell yourself.

>weakness in the moral sense
You're the moralfagging retard, not me. Moral weakness (which I have not brought up even once) is a subcategory of weakness, not the other way around.
Re-read my posts without assuming that I'm a moralfag like yourself until you understand this.

You have received sufficient information, and you are presumably running this through some AI, assuming you aren't one, since you spit out vacuous quantities of monoculture moralizing without being able to grasp the point. No more (yous).

Okay love, if you can't spot the logical fallacies you've made then at this point, then there is little point in making plain to you that you can't claim not to be moral fagging and still prescribing self-contempt as insight.

>You are presumably running this through some AI

Woman moment.
Stop (inaccurately) guessing what I'm doing and just engage with the post. (Besides, you don't need to use an AI to spot the reasoning of a moron.)

Have a good evening!

The Last Church was a cool little vignette, but I don't think Emps really fits inside a Christian eschatology.
What that story represented was something far worse for a Christian than the fulfilment of Revelations.
He represents the obsolescence of religion.
But bear in mind, The Emperor is a liar.
He knew the Chaos Gods were real.

The PCs must restore the power of the four crystals to defeat the Dark Lord. What should I base the four crystals upon, instead of the four elements?
