>>97791105>>97791142lovanderbros, where?
Why does this game treat their main payers (metafags & waifufags) like dirt while giving the fujos & faggots (who don't pay much or at all) royal treatment?
>>97820344Girls generally buy cheaper merchandise like standees more often, and guys generally spend their money on more valuable items like figures or cards (the reason Bushi made LM)
>>97820472And now you wake up
>>97820472Because the actual meta players who cared about the long term health of the game made up only a small fraction of the community and Bushi recognized that early on. Most people who enjoyed the game were casual players who didn’t want to use brainpower to play card games and just wanted to play with shiny cardboard while LARPing the anime. These were also the kinds of players who were more likely to build and collect multiple decks/clans, rather than focus on competitive play. As a result, the game leaned toward simplicity and a heavy reliance on luck, which was further reinforced by the introduction of the Overtrigger even though many players hated it. This approach also explains decisions like best of 1 tournaments with no prizing and the lack of a playtest team, which led to some really shitty and unbalanced metas. It was also part of why the game went through two poorly received reboots. That formula worked for a while, but once more popular IP card games like One Piece and Digimon entered the TCG scene, many of those casual players moved on to other games. In that sense, the game’s earlier success wasn’t necessarily built on a strong competitive foundation, which raises the argument that it may not have truly deserved a place among the top 5 TCGs and today, it’s sitting outside the top 10, where it arguably belongs.

So what are you working on?>Why should I homebrew?/tg/ products are fairly unique in that it's actually pretty simple to make them these days, with a plethora of products to assist in making and playtesting your game. Making your own games helps understand why games are made the way they are, as well as being fun to do.>What you should postIdeas for games, games you're currently making, updates to your own games in broad strokes, and any homebrewing for existing products that don't get much attention. Discussion about the above is welcome. Post good, be good, and look over others products, they care if someone looks more than anything.Had to remake the thread>Resources for the aspiring developer>https://anydice.com/ (A fantastic resource for checking probabilities)>https://miro.com/ (A online whiteboard with tools to help organize yourself)>https://www.notion.so/ (Similar to the above, but in a bit cleaner format for those who work in larger teams)>https://rolz.org/ (Impromptu playtesting at its finest)>https://www.youtube.com/user/georgephillies/playlists (Game Design Lectures)
>>97819846Hell yeah. Dude knows, whats up. I figure if I keep giving this mutt estrogen and eventually I'll have a set of g-cups to bat around.
Doing all of this.
>>97818983Working on a crunchy tactics martial arts system. Combat uses a independent tick based declare/resolve mechanic where the tick cost is how long before it resolves rather than a cooldown after.Having a weapon changes the tick cost of attacks. Previously different weapon size had different costs with small weapons (like daggers) having 0 change. I am considering a universal "if weapon, cost +1" mechanic which will be cleaner but will lose "realism" for lack of a better word.Is this a level of crunch worth giving up if I cant balance it correctly anyway?
>>97818983>So what are you working on?A homebrew setting that I can EASILY explain to players who literally showed up to the table that very night (so I can run this at conventions). The rules I have already blatantly stolen from a published setting (and will credit them as much). It's basically cyberpunk, but instead of being street criminals, the players are mercenaries who can get into military conflicts that may involve tanks, airstrikes, and artillery (but of course much lower powered conflicts and heists as well). Inspirations include GI JOE and the Metal Gear Solid series.I need something I can fit onto one page of a handout I can literally just hand to a new player who bumbles up to my table at a convention and is looking for a near-future game that resembles cyberpunk. The fastest one-paragraph explanation I can think of is something like "The world is a dystopian shithole where the gap between the rich and the poor is a fucking Grand Canyon but it's become so divided and balkanized that law enforcement is only for those with money - everybody else is subject to the laws of the Wild West. That's where you come in, and you get paid for it."
>>97820239I work in education and have to design shit like this all the time, maybe I can give you a little advice:> You put a pic into your post because it allows you to convey information. Put a pic on your handout as well, along with the text.> Your one-paragraph explanation is solid. That really puts me in the mood to get to playing, it creates a clear moral and material conflict, it creates my place in your world, and it leaves plenty of opportunity to have a few quick thoughts of how I want to position myself in this lore, what kind of character I would like to play. As I said it really gets me going.> Structure this document for use at the table, don't plan it to be something they read once and then keep all the info in mind when playing. They will forget and have to read it again, making everyone choose between disrupting play or ignoring the handout. Make it a sort of mini wiki / reference sheet, not the first page of a book. Well structured headlines/sections, precise information that doesn't have to be perfectly clear (you are at the table and can explain things to them) but has to be dense with information, and preferably nonambiguous. If you really want to go apeshit with this, include a small blank writing space with a question about their character in which they need to use the lore information you provided. Brains don't recall information and don't fill it with meaning unless they are forced to use it.
Gearhead thread but for /tg/Part of why I like to play ttrpg's is the analog aspect. I prefer to keep all digital things out of the experience. No laptops, ipads, phones at the table. Well, an exception can be made for googling something quick, but other than that, keep that shit in your pocket.I like to do my gm prep, world building, drawing maps, in notebooks. npc and character sheets etc.on paper.I really like MUJI stationery. Their notebooks are really nice, and their pens and pencils are amazing.I recently found some hex paper notebooks on amazon. That was really nice to use to draw some hex maps.Do you have any neat stationery or other analog "gear" that you really like? Could you share some of your cool items or showcase your note taking system or maps or whatever?
>>97817358It is for the players.

Don't don't make stationeries like this where I'm from, so fragile, so refined
>>97817973Countries that love stationery usually fucked up moving to the digital worldGermany and Japan love sending faxes
I got myself a binding machine so that I could print out pdfs and have physical stuff at the table. It's a good way of saving money if you tend to hoard a lot of pdfs but don't want to constantly shell out for things you don't know if you can get to the table. Also very satisfying to use.

>>97822231the aldamon is insanetamer is also incredibly strongI was surprised how strong they were when I tried them, insane cards.>>97822120hoang and zero says a lot of really questionable stuffI don't think imperial is t1, but lmao it isn't t4its a tier 2 deck, if you really value not bricking ever, I can see calling it t3 but its hardest to find piece, pail, just got a second copy you are happy to run 4 of and now became its easiest to find piece, and it was always the piece you needed to find the most copies of for most of its combosthe discussion they had about DGO was really strange, its like neither of them knew what it did and understood how it works in imperial, zero literally not knowing what the card did and hoang saying playing it still gets you a rookie played down, no, it doesn't, it misses that timings. I don't think either of them have ever played either of the decks and I find it especially strange how they talked about how little value you get off DGO to find pieces when they have more than 1 tamer in the deck, DGO > bt3 davis is a lot of fucking search that provides instant value AND is still enough to do your DNA comboprobably the most egregious thing was the hudie glazing and them talking about how strong it still is and how it can still kill you just as fastno, it simply is unable to kill on turn 2, if it giga high rolls and you don't play on board, it can kill on turn 3, but that requires it finding an unsearchable 1 of and a searchable 1 of, AND having way more setup, AND finding multiple hudies, AND getting down multiple tamers, which is simply unrealistic, id have to math it out to see if its even possible at all but its incredibly unlikely its even possiblethe deck can kill on turn 4 at the earliest minimum now, its a chip deck now, as was intended, no OTK, and for how much they raved about OTK and then said hudie is good is absurdthe loop got killed, that was what made the deck strong.
>>97822302the deck i am most afraid of bar none right now is hudie with imperial top end. Like they alluded to in the video there are at least 3 or 4 ways you can play CS hudie.I think they assessed this deck pretty well. I am an imperial main , picked veedramon in 1998 so other kids on the playground could be greymon and i never looked back. Picked veedramon before v-mon or imperialdramon existed. Picked up DCGO when bt16 pail came out. Most people who are talking about imperial are valuing 16 pail over ad paildra which is just incorrect. Last thread someone was talking about the value of return of the ancestors ( can't print that card name in america lmao) - new paildra is 4 copies of return of the ancestors. I do think that their discussion about digital gate open was correct in regard to imperial. I am running a single copy of the card right now which I did not have when i was playing gold imperial last patch. They posit that DGO was less of an imperial buff than it was for omni or shine and that is absolutely correct, even more so now that tamers are less necessary. mjyoner has won me more games on this imperial build than it has at any point in the past when I have tried it. splashing the virus fighter mode is quite good in this meta too, imperial crimson blaze+ hates on alda and hudie. Its pretty difficult to scale this deck up from here, the list is very full - we would need a lighdramon/yasyamon ( my dream) with an evade inheritble or something similarly relevent, pretty much the only slot with suboptimal cards is level 4. No protection + only having good draw power when you are ahead. If sting was not on the banlist right now this deck would be truly absurd. I want to explore the +1 mem pail he has been quite good in other builds. Much harder to recur daiken searcher rookies than when the game came out.i think their assessment of gaiamon is the most incorrect take overall. 'its really bricky' not in my experience. Double Charis is tippy top protection
>>97822120This is a tier list coloured by personal preference and hatred. Hoang Zero bitches bitches a lot about the decks he thinks are for bitches. But he forgets that meta shifts weekly even within format and 90% of players are just copying the latest winning decks. The fact he has rocks at tier 3 is hilarious. And alter S now wins games on turn 2 again with new GAS. The new blitz and cres are fucked.
>>97822619i agree that omni has really scary level 6s now, scarier than their level 7s. its more constructive to explain why than to just call out. Why do u feel the way u feel about rocks and why? relevant decks that could be on this list but are not include Lucemon, Invisimon, DM Justi ( for some reason I have a really high winrate vs medusa on this deck ) mexichink purple hybrid and heavy metali will also say that the trick to playing zeed into medusa is to discard off a gizamon played out by cheatose i think they are right about gallacticmonthey overrate bees a bit imo. hornet eraser is fucked and so is tiger vespa ace usually but I rarely get high rolled by this deck - it is very enjoyable to win through 8 security though. I wonder what kind of permutations they are playing to get those speedy RK wins too. Single coolboy into stuff? I know its possible but idk what the line is. I am quite fond of new dynas in this deck.
>>97822666oh and the new hisaryu deck is very underrated and underplayed. you have so much scry its insane.

>>97822554Contrary to what most mini painters believe, blood is not that goopy. A clean bisection won't even have organs spanning the gap, there will just be 2 bits of a dude with a couple floppy intestines and 2 pools of blood. It only gets stretchy when someone is RIPPED in half, rather than cut apart.

If DND was realistic then literally all adventurers get hunted down (by professional adventurer hunter soldiers) and hung at the execution block for being outlaw bandits.Nobody likes vigilantes in all of history (OUTLAWS!) and adventurers are basically just bandits because they make a living by killing people and looting bodies...DNDs where adventurers are hated by everyone and hunted down like witchers are extremely based. The Adventures Guild in the village? Arrested and draft conscripted into the baron's Penal Battalions!

>>97822194>If DND was realistic then literally all adventurers get hunted down (by professional adventurer hunter soldiers)Yes, that is how many D&D games are, but you have it the wrong way around. The 'professional adventurer hunter soldiers' are the player characters, with your bandits, raiders and murderhobos being the adventurers that the PCs go on quests to defeat. If your view on who is who is so fucked up, I suggest you stop playing with such edgelords.

A duck inspired Kang the conquerer which in turn inspired Spider-Man and the Hulk being created. Also Ming the merciless and Genghis Khan irl. This goes all the way back to Adam of Adam and Eve fame. Ducks are behind every great human moment. Think about it. God has a bill.

Serious question: What value do slaves actually have to your average PC? Like, I've never seen any PC / group actively engage in slavery because there never seems to be any substantial reward worth the effort. It's like crafting or running a business, there's just no *point* in engaging with the mechanics because the rewards are puny. How could you make it actually appealing to players? It's not like they can load up a ship and sail off to the ivory coast.

>>97822264I'm currently running an ACKS campaign based on the 30 years war. It took about 6 months to write and I've run 35ish total sessions across 3 tables with my primary table playing 29 of those. Plus some solo play party I ran for me. It'll never be totally fleshed out, that's just reality.
>>97822308Use history/politics stuff and mix in Conan, dying earth, lovecraft, Arthurian lore, and lotr.
>>97822308Well not using the same names and giving a fresh coat of paint already prevents most trouble occurring from people recognizing what the source is. The next step is, don't have a single source, use more than one and combine them. What helps you with that is being exposed to multiple sources of media. Books, movies, tv series, animation and pieces of art like paintings, or even music sometimes, depends on what makes your creative wheels spin. What are you struggling with?
>>97822521>What are you struggling with?I think it's mostly me wanting to improvise a lot of stuff since when I do prepare most of the stuff I write before hand ends up being really irrelevant.
>>97822550Ah, you're not alone in that, many people here and outside struggle with that. You may find good value in changing your approach to prep. Like you said, if you try to zoom in and prepare something specific you risk not using it or having to quantum ogre it. YMMV as different groups deal with hooks and agency in different ways, of course. What I find to be really effective in situations where you have to be ready to come up with stuff on the fly is having a more vague prep done, and work on the details when the time comes. You want to have them explore an area, write down just the main players, their agenda and personality. Add creatures, split them into factions. Give a basic framework of how they interact with each other, and maybe a few notable happenings that can come up if someone asks or does something. The PCs enter a valley, there's orcs there. You know that the orcs raid caravans, so that's a possible random encounter. The PCs want to look into it, you know that elves have been trying to trade, but their leader is ill tempered, so there's also a patrol of angry elves around, and maybe they blame the PCs if they loot the wrong thing or act in some aggressive way. Stuff like that. You can come up with stuff because you know what the premise is and how the world would react, but you didn't write down anything specific.
