I prefer using FASERIP for Sanic since it's just furry superheroes anyway.
>>92554058>Website implies parties are hard-capped at three membersNot that I'm complaining, but it's certainly a choice to make.
>>92554136Oh, we're posting statlines? Here's Rouge in Genesys.>Rouge the Bat (Nemesis)Government intelligence agent by day, professional thief and treasure hunter by night, Rouge prefers the finer things in life. With a keen mind and eye, martial arts training, and a silver tongue, there's practically nothing that escapes her sight or ambition.Brawn 2 | Agility 4 | Intellect 3 | Cunning 4 | Willpower 2 | Presence 3Soak: 2, Wound Threshold: 12, Strain Threshold: 16, Defense: 0/0Skills: Charm 4, Deception 3, Negotiation 2, Brawl 2, Computers 3, Cool 1, Coordination 3, Perception 3, Skulduggery 4, Stealth 3, Streetwise 3, Vigilance 2, Knowledge 2Talents: Adversary 2 (upgrade difficulty of all combat checks against this character twice), Natural (once per session, reroll any one Skulduggery or Stealth check).Abilities: Bat Wings (Rouge can fly and hover unassisted [see Flying sidebar on p.100 in Genesys Core Rulebook]), One Step Ahead (once per round, after an opponent performs an action or maneuver, may spend one Story Point to perform an action or maneuver as an out-of-turn incidental).Equipment: Bat drone (remote camera that provides a closed audio/visual feed; can only operate within Extreme range of the owner), thieves' tools (when making a Skulduggery check to open a lock or latch or otherwise assist with breaking and entering, add one Advantage to the results), encrypted cell phone.Motivations:>Desire: Wealth (noted weak spot for gems and jewels)>Fear: Humiliation/Expression (she has an image to maintain, and given the stakes in her career, she doesn't want things to fall apart if she fails)>Strength: Independent (rarely asks for help, and for good reason)>Flaw: Greed (selfish in the name of acquiring wealth, whether stealing from others or running a casino/night club)As a high-tier adversary goes, Rouge is well-rounded. She's a silver-tongued scoundrel who can talk, tech, sneak, or (if necessary) fight her way into or out of trouble.
>>92554136>>92554806I love how all these years later people just embrace their Sonic cringe now. I'm honestly surprised there aren't more homebrews or even an official attempt at a ttrpg from sega considering how loose they are with the IP and how they capitalize on fads.
>>92555764I'm not a Sonic diehard myself, but I can see how they manage. Sonic as an IP refuses to die, no matter how much people fuck it up. It is famously resilient, buoyed by good releases to make up for the bad ones. When your fans learn to laugh at the dumb shit, on top of marking out for the cool shit, they will stick with you forever. That said, getting Sonic fans into the TTRPG space is not something you see courted often. Translating an IP that builds its entire identity around speed and high-octane action into a more methodical format is a delicate process.
I miss Chao Garden.
>>92556081We all do.
>>92554712To be specific, the rulebook says 1-6 players is fine, but the golden number is 3, to fit the Sonic Heroes Speed-Flight-Power archetype trinity.
>>92554058I have my own games to work on, but I'm happy for the people who need this.
ded thred
>>92556081Don’t remind me…
>>92556081Don't we all...
>>92556081Maybe someday it'll be back. And we'll all rejoice my friend.
>>92554058https://www.sonictth.com/post/technique-type-first-lookApparently, the developers are workshopping a fourth character archetype - the Technique type, a role for supports and other niche cases that don't neatly fit the original trifecta. Exemplars include Sally Acorn, Chris Thorndyke, and Whisper the Wolf.
>>92564002Bringing in IDW influence does not bode well
>>92564327It was described as "while Speed-Flight-Power are the combat powerhouses, Technique will cover everything else."
>>92564327>>92564335In other words, Technique is for those who want to specialize as the skill monkey or the face, or want to use a relatively non-standard playstyle. While Speed-Flight-Power can dip into support roles in different ways (e.g. Tails is a Flight type with an additional specialty in intellect), the Technique goes all in on what are effectively the non-action skills or are otherwise versatile enough that they can fill any gap in any team and can better accomodate the aforementioned niche playstyle.
>>92554058Truly autism is the blessing and curse of the Sonic fandom when they make stuff like fan games and even a tabletop fan game. And then that weird fanart.
>>92564393>are otherwise versatile enough that they can fill any gap in any team and can better accomodate the aforementioned niche playstyleCase in point: Whisper the Wolf is a ranged specialist (a scout sniper) who doesn't fly.
>>92567116Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't seen a Sonic TTRPG sooner. For a franchise infamous for the number of OCs out there, you'd think people would find a tabletop RPG as an outlet. For the record, this is the first result when you image search "Sonic OC" on Google.
>>92567794There's quite a few of them, albeit I hadn't heard of the one in the OP when I looked into them for a one shot, but here's some more examples:>Mobius PrimeBased on Cortex Prime, I went with this one and it went fairly well.>Rings and Running ShoesIt's a PtbA system, at a glance it looked fine enough. It's the most developped of the bunch.>two systems generically named "Sonic the Hedgehog TTRPG"One is an adaptation of the Fantails gamebooks and pretty incomplete, the other is a 24 hour jam thing, pretty good for purely running through zones.
There is also a tabletop wargame based on the archie comics.https://ioanmakesgames.itch.io/mobius-ttwg
>>92569688There's the autism I knew was out there.
>>92554136Got any more of these anon?
>>92554712Honestly, 3 is a good number for TRPGs
>>92578743Three is a very safe number for a party in any game. 3-5 is typically held up as the perfect party size. Also, like >>92556277 says, this game accomodates 1-6 but strongly prefers 3 to hit the Speed-Flight-Power trio from Sonic Heroes. It's in the name, after all.
I'd argue Shadow and Rouge (SA1 and 2 as a whole) did more for the proliferation of Sonic OCs than anything else up to that point. It was okay to make edgelords or sex bombs or anything else, all with more varied powers.
>>92585076
>>92580076If you want more, just do X amount of 3 man teams. And then suffer under a ruleset not built to accommodate that many player turns.
>>92555879The real reason that Sonic never dies is because Sammy is using it as image doctoring. It could lose 1000 million yen a year every year, and it would still be kept around because Being "Sega Sammy, the sonic guys" is better than being "Sammy, those fucking assholes who make pachinko machines.
>>92595114Or you just run parallel campaigns.
Oh shit Gamma, I didn't know you rocked out like that
>>92595114In the premade adventure built for a three-player team, they had suggestions for the module's boss depending on party size if it's different from the default three.>If you have fewer players, use fewer minions and even cut out one of the boss's phases>If you have more players, add a couple tougher extra minions and increase the boss's HP
Hm. I'd want to make a rabbit, but that's already treading on some mapped territory. A jackalope, maybe? Most beepable sheep unrelated.
>>92607556You'd probably want to pick what role you want first - Speed, Flight, or Power.
Is it just DnD with sonic characters or is there something unique about it?
>>92611115It's got grid-based combat, but it also has FFG Star Wars-style multidimensional dice results (including "Tricks" and "Slips") for extra flair on actions and information.
>>92569688I always wanted to field a army of Eggman's Badniks in a game. Does anyone make minis for hes robots?
>>92615970I'd be stunned if there weren't rips from the 3d games for 3d printing.
>>92607556I'll have to check the rulebook if it allows for the Robians and knight archetypes.
>>92607556A jackalope as a Speed-type rabbit might be interesting.
>tfw none of your friends are autistic enough to play this>trying to find a group runs the risk of finding people a bit too autistic It would be fun having some comfy sanic related adventures in an Adventure/Unleashed setting.
>>92623122I think people would understand characters like Coldsteel and their ilk wouldn't really function as PCs. After all, part of the contract as a player is the understanding that your character can and will fail at times, and that mindbreaks the "living avatar of Chaos energy who moves at lightspeed" breed of Sonic OCs.Now, if your character has made it his lifelong mission to bang the shit out of Rouge the Bat, that's a different matter.
>>92623305>your character has made it his lifelong mission to bang the shit out of Rouge the BatHow do you know me so well?Anyway they should put out modules for the black knight setting because that shit has so much potential.
>>92625489Retreads of the storybook series are a little out there.
>>92625489Agreed. That setting was my first thought for a trpg sonic game.
>>92630956Why did they have to draw his tail like he's got his dick hanging out?
>>92631544These rules are a both a bit complicated yet also too much freeform. They should have put it as:PowerSpeedAbilityAnd the Ability archetype should specialize in one thing like swimming, flying or other situational/terrain advantages.(I actually did make a basic ruleset separating the three main races of pastel pocket horses just like so.)
