>>92597825>filename thread starts with an entire fucking manga pageIt's seriously buffeling how absolutely terrible /tg/ is at filename threads. No, I will not contribute to this one, contributing in the past has never improved these. You suck. You do not understand how filename jokes work. Having a vaguely /tg/description of the absurd or funny image you posted does not make it a filename joke. A good filename joke is a mundane image that is turned into a joke by adding a clever filename.
>>92597825Well I for one thought it was mildly funny. Though Walmart->Warhammer is a very rough replacement. Not great wordplay, but counts as wordplay. Further, connecting how the absurd applies just as well a /tg/ topic is a perfectly valid form of filename(though what even is absurd these days). So long as the connection and name is sufficiently clever, or simply sardonic.

>>92598575I still have these threads on highlight for two reasons: One, that occasionally there is a new and actually funny filename, but two, sometimes a bad image derails the thread discussion into something interesting and I am, for the briefest time, reminded of old /tg/.

>>92616593I honestly think that the creative spirit of /tg/ was already dying before the zoomers and election tourists moved in. They might have salted the earth and made sure nothing new could grow for years to come, but the golden age was over before they got here. I didn't even like quests, but its hard to deny that the culture of the board changed after they were split off. People were made that the same quests were bumped to the top of the catalog over and over again, and all we got in return for their removal was bumpanon keeping threads alive for 2 weeks with such riveting posts as a page 10 "What did you mean by that?"
>>92619909Thank you, anon. Your commitment to my filename gave me hope.
>>92620748My original thought was, "Toyota? Is it a joke about putting the brakes on the players shenanigans?" but that seemed too obscure.
>>92620675There was also a noticeable increase in low quality shitpost/ragebait threads after quests got axed.Turns out that the narrative of “quests are pushing quality threads off the board/burying them” was literally the exact opposite of what was happening and removing them did not allow quality threads to flood the board, but allowed a wave of trash to come in.The worst part is that people still fucking unironically believe this narrative.
>>92620787Arguably the trash and ragebait wasn't even new. It was always there. It just didn't used to SURVIVE for long enough to matter when quests meant that the board was active enough that threads cycled pretty quickly unless active. Remove that level of activity and you end up with a board like /m/, where all it takes is 2 guys to keep a single thread alive for almost a year because no one else is posting. The people who thought that quests were killing 'quality discussion' were just assmad that they made threads that no one else responded to, and blamed the popular kid (quests) for their thread being ignored. When the reality was that they just didn't make a thread anyone else was that interested in.
>>92620675People were mad because quests from all boards were redirected to /tg/ regardless of subject, causing an inundation of "Anime/Show/Vidya of the Month Harem Quest #48" and other such shit. And as much as people like to argue that everything is /tg/ related (something something you don't even need the other boards) these quest threads had close to zero overlap with the regular fa/tg/uy population and consisted almost solely by posters from other boards who didn't care about other /tg/ subjects in the slightest.Really all that needed to happen was getting rid of that rule that pushed all quest threads onto /tg/ and instead allow them to happen on their respective boards instead. Unfortunately mods went with the absolute worst option (which we should probably have expected) which also banished actual /tg/-related quests from the board, which as other anons have pointed out had an even worse effect on the place than these quest threads ever did.
>>92620841Herding all quests to /tg/ was moot's idea near the end of his rule and after seeing the consequences he did actually revoke it shortly before quitting./qst/ was Hiro's idea, shortly after he bought the place, divide and conquer
>>92610316Red pill me on this
>>92620787>>92620816>>92620841>>92620886Part of the problem is that quests were allowed to remain here for far, far too long. Did you want to pose a question or otherwise discuss something about a system or a setting? Fuck you, your post is getting bumped off the first page because there's five hyper-autists on Season 4 Episode 498 of Strike Witch No Bakku Horny Loli Girls Underwater Time!! who will keep that shitty thread bumped 24/7 because they have nothing else to do in their sad, pathetic lives. And of course, they're not the only ones, so if you wanted to actually discuss a system or setting, you had to do so within the confines of a walled garden: a general. But while the quest threads finally got banned, generals weren't. The vast majority of the actual genuine discussion gets posted there, and if you don't you get harassed by a bunch of autists going "Why don't you post that in the general hurrrrrrr". So no fucking SHIT any thread that's not a general is absolute garbage these days (and the generals not much better because they're sterile communities of the same people locked in with each other slowly going insane), just because you removed the cancer killing the board didn't mean everything was just going to magically grow back. The wasteland of worthless fucking quests was replaced by a wasteland of worthless trolling and bait because we never took the steps to come out of our fucking vaults we built to survive the quests in the first place.
>>92603550why do they draw jews as blonde and with normal hair?

>>92621195>Did you want to pose a question or otherwise discuss something about a system or a setting? Fuck you, your post is getting bumped off the first page because there's five hyper-autists on Season 4 Episode 498Why is page 1 important? With the catalogue I basically never care about what page a given thread is on when I respond to it, unless its down to page 9 or 10 and then I ask myself whether its worth bumping the thread for my reply.
>>92621195>getting bumped off the first page Never figured out how catalogue and filters work, huh?

>>92622061>>92622645The catalogue hasn’t been here since the beginning, but it was added well before quests were removed, like at least an entire year, possibly two, before.I’m unsure when automatic post filtering was added, but I believe it was also a good deal of time before quests got removed.
>>92621367>>92622645>>92623091Even now, when a shitty troll thread gets posted, someone will mourn "A thread died for this." Quests were the first iteration of that kind of worthless thread shitting up the board that killed actual content. They normalized dogshit threads being the standard and people having to stick to generals to get any sense of community and creativity. By the time catalogues came around, it was already too late. Generals were already here to stay.

>>92623091Closer to four or five years, by my memory.
>>92624139So why are we supposed to hate general threads again?
>>92624139IMO, the main problem with generals is basically two things: one, the culture of the general becoming a garbage fire that people then abandon and/or raid, and two, proliferation. For a reasonably slow board with ~140 threads at any given time, having even a few dozen generals isn't really a huge burden (especially when most of them are fairly slow) but on the other hand if you have double or triple that number the board becomes a trainwreck in a hurry. It's unfortunate but given what the PPH is up to it beats the hell out of the alternative. Generals are also very handy for keeping discussions on niche topics alive. Historical wargames belong on here more than just about any other topic you could imagine but that general goes through like three threads a month; even if they were the only general allowed they'd get blown off of the board by inertia before making it a day. Many people also misuse (intentionally or unintentionally) "general" to mean "I want to talk about [topic]" instead of "rolling containment thread for [topic]" or even "rolling consolidated discussion for [topic]" and that further muddies the water. There are several threads on the board that are obviously just being constantly necrobumped with the excuse it's a """general""" as an excuse to necrobump it and that IS the kind of thing that should be dunked on. Totally different animal from /40kg/, which is an example of the former proper use case, or /GROG/ which is an example of the latter.Christ, I feel like someone looking out at a new suburb and saying "yup, over there was all orange groves before the war and on that side of the street was the dairy that delivered milk until they closed in '72".
