How important do you consider it to use background music with period-appropriate instrumentation?
I use dungeon synth or ambient shit during exploration and metal during combat. How could you tell?
>>92615820It really depends on what the group will tolerate. I like bagpipes while the group does their shopping or daytime urban area activities, string instruments for taverns or after-hours sneaky shenanigans, brass for combat, and metal for traveling. Typically once the campaign's tone is set I just drop the soundtrack routine unless it's early in the day and some of the players are sleepy. For horror games, I usually stick with ambient tracks or custom soundscapes if I've got the time.
>How important do you consider it to use background music with period-appropriate instrumentation? Not at all, because I have no idea what instruments the people in my game worlds would come up with.
>>92615820Not.
>>92615820period? what period? this is fantasy, anon.

>>92619094>3-4 minute tracks Ain't nobody got time for that. Just flip on something like this https://youtu.be/E0VCNB9Ep2M?si=UwvF3vkjC88pMxzS and let it ride for most of the game session. Switch tracks for in town, combat and special occasions but return to ambient track for most gameplay.
