Anyone ever do well at casinos?

The casino

>be 18
>gambling junkie uncle takes me, my brother, and my mother to the casino with him
>gives both of us $100 to blow while he feeds his addiction
>hit a small jackpot on slots in the first ten bucks for $100
>can't ignore the gambling high completely
>set a hard limit on myself of another ten bucks
>don't win enough and eventually wind up down twenty total
>find my uncle and pay him back the $100 he gave us
>pocket the leftover $80 for myself
>uncle flushed $500 down the drain in the two hours we were there
I should've just kept my mouth shut and pocketed the other $100, I'm not sure making him look like a clown was worth it.

This. The most important part of getting money from casinos is understanding that the industry put a massive amount of time and effort into making sure the house always profits in the long run.
>>
My first time at a casino I won 50 dollars on slots on my first spin. I was briefly hit very hard with the gambling high this anon >>92619234 mentions and I decided I’d spin a couple more times, thinking surely it couldn’t be so hard to earn a couple bucks more, next thing I knew I had threw away another 10 bucks worth of spins without a single win. My brain kept telling myself I should just go a couple more times until I broke even and recuperate that 10 bucks I lost, surely I had to win again after such a losing streak, luckily I was able to realize “ah so that’s how the house gets you” and I stopped while I was 40 bucks ahead. Ended up spending half that money at the buffet though. But it was a valuable lesson to avoid gambling and I suppose that’s a win

>They don't dump CHA and put the points in LCK
Bet you don't even got spurs that jingle jangle jingle.

I made 80 bucks on the Golden Axe machine once when I walked past it in Atlantic City. Never played another game again.
>>
I once made $25,000 buying and selling a cryptopcurrency called "Pregnant Butt"
>>
I was never at a casino because I have >70 IQ but when I was a kid my dad gave me 5$ to spend on slots near an arcade section on a railway station while we were waiting for a train (it was legal in my shithole back then). I spent $1 on slots and didn't win anything then I spent $4 on a House of the Dead arcade and at least had fun.

The only time I ever went to a casino I turned $100 into $400 playing Texas Hold Em. It was pretty fun, the pit bosses shuffled me around tables until I was sitting with actual pros, and I made one of them do a double take when I slow played an Ace high Flush.
>>
Been wanting to talk about casinos. I started going to my local casino just to spend a few hours playing and build up points.
I put some money in a double diamond old school style slot machine. $.25 with 9 lines so $2.25 a spin. I hit a big jackpot I think it was $150. After a couple trips it took all my money.
The thing is I enjoy playing the machine. If it didn't cost $200/hour to play I would actually do it. Way too over priced.
Then I played Craps. I try to develop Craps strategy on Wizard of Odds; sometimes you get lucky but usually you go bust. I did get lucky a few times but lately busted.
I started out ahead and now I'm using my own money so I don't really want to play anymore.
The issue is I just want to sit in front of a machine for a couple hours and sip on a drink and listen to podcasts. But they make it too expensive.
>>
>get $20 in funbucks for staying at the hotel
>table games start at $20 a hand, fuck that
>pick a fun looking slot machine
>win $200 and immediately cash out
It was stupid, but I'll take it.

My friend just won 10k about 8 minutes ago.
>>
Everyone I've spoken to always has a story that boils down to
>"first time i walked into a casino i instantly won big"
to the point I'm convinced they rig it so new people win to get them hooked.
>>
>>92628576
be careful. I had a great aunt who won $10k (like 70 years ago, so way more proportionately) and it ruined her life.
>>
I have blown thousands chasing the gamblers high. I have hit a few good jackpots. I used to gamble a lot, so the casino would send me free credits to lure me back in. I was homeless at the time, took a bus to the casino with my 200 voucher, hit for 2k. Ate good that night, slept in a nice bed, did my laundry. Next day I went back and lost it all. This cycle repeated itself several times.

Should I just walk into a casino, win big, leave?

Table games dealer here. We have a pit that I affectionately dub the "tourist trap" that only opens on weekends and other busy nights (like major events nearby) and always draws in plenty of newbies as it's closer to the main entrance from the street. I can say with certainty that I clean the majority of them out. But "I went to the casino after a concert and lost $100 in three minutes on Blackjack" doesn't make for a good story, now does it?
Now, Roulette on the other hand, for people bold enough to get their start playing heavy across the inside? More often than not they're up at some point, at least on that table... but they stick around chasing more hits (or worse, a single number they play heavy) long enough to give back everything the house gave 'em and then some.
Nobody comes to a casino to make $75-100 profit on a single $100 bet, though. It's the financially sensible move (well, other than never playing to begin with), but it isn't the fun one.

Roulette and Blackjack always seemed the most fair way to win even though I know they are still in favour of the house.
>>
I hit the boats every so often, and manage to make $100 to $200 at the blackjack table.
For whatever reason I'm better at math when drunk, and no dealer expects the hundred fifty pound manlet who's on his third whiskey sour to be counting cards.

Roulette has some of the heaviest edge among table games, assuming optimal play. It has the benefit of not needing any strategy, though, which most other games do require to avoid making stupid plays or sucker bets.
Blackjack with optimal play has the narrowest (aside from odds bets on Craps, but those can't play alone), depending on the rules.

As the gambling ads down here in Australia are legally required to say, you win some, you lose more.

Yeah, to be honest, intoxicated players fuck with me quite a bit at times. More often than not they're just making legitimately stupid plays that may or may not work, but if you're doing that with huge money (and succeeding, especially), it's gonna draw some attention.
That said, a couple hundred bucks over a run isn't going to perturb the house too much even if it is advantage play. The sort of money you're taking isn't even enough to bother a pit boss over in most casinos or even really catch the dealer's attention unless it's incredibly bold. I see dumber plays for more money from players at all skill levels on the daily.

My wife managed to pay for our elwedding with a single $1.75 spin. Hit the machine at just the right time and we were all set from there and meant the money we would have been putting aside to cover the cost could go to other shit instead.
>>
I camp certain games and wait for dumb people to leave +EV situations on variable state games
>>
My brother in law got drunk on Anzac Day and made $600 Au at two-up.
But he's a pretty good gambler, he used to play poker professionally. Like, at tournaments.
