Tomorrow, he dies.Tomorrow Pioneer reborn.
SELL SELL SELL
>tqno changes to all formats is my prediction but I do hope I'm wrong
>>93145452>DecissionWildgrowth banned>ExplanationForced ties weren´t fun
>>93145452>TQI reeeeeally want they ban Treasure Cruise, Amalia and Sorin but the question is... Will they unban something?
Fuck Eldrazi
>>93145605>Phyrexians>Eldrazi>Some sunday cartoon bad guys like BolasWe need new villains.
>>93145561I hope they do. Release Leyline, it's ok now.
>TQI don't believe they are banning anything, in the last Q&A they said they didn't want to touch Pioneer because of the RCQ season, which still hasn't ended as far as I know, they also said something like they wanted to revaluate the format after Bloomborrow comes out.Modern and Legacy just got MH3 and there's a Modern PT happening soon.
>>93145634no, it's not, this bad girl on the other hand... it's time.
>>93145028>YOU'RE A TROLL IF YOU SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE I NEED MY SAFE SPACE SOMEONE PLEASE BAN AND CENSORE THESE PEOPLE AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHMost sane person that is still playing this game.
>>93145672>THE VOICES ARE SCREAMING IN MY HEADYou sincerely need to take your meds
>>93145613>We need new villainsTrust Bloomkino
>>93145656ballista would be such a cool unbanmono white midrange has been tier 6 for like 2 years now, if ballista came back it could at least exist somewhere around high tier 3 or low tier 2
>>93145656ok, ballista unbannedleyline too
>>93145686I'm not taking any goyslop concoction, shill.
>>93145705If you unban Leyline Nykthos rapes the format so hard it becomes the new Scam Rakdos.
>>93145634>>93145656You both are wrong. Unban Kethis or Inversor of Truth, that would make Pioneer actually fun.
>>93145736>>93145801Nah, spirits keeps G in check. Trust me bros.
>>93145694Damn, at this point I really hope Bloomborrow is like old Lorwyn (=pure soul). If they fuck even the guaranteed success then there is no hope for mtg.
>>93145859I kept your mom's ass in check last night lmao
Dual sided cards were a mistake.
>>93145694idk, I'm not impressed by the cards we've seen so far
>>93146041that's because you're an incestuous degenerate
>>93146056They deliberately didn't show off any cards with new mechanics, so we have very little to go off of.
>>93146074right, I'm not saying it's fair to judge the entire set from just looking at just 4 rares but they don't look particularly interesting, that's not a death sentece, just an observation
>>93146056I trust this bat will be incredible, i wanna believe it so hard, and i want to believe in the Mice tribal too.
>go to play magic the gathering tournament>people r stinky>trannies>x-3 drop Picrel
>>93146187Trannies single handedly ruin so much of the /tg/ experience these days. Nerd hobbies have always attracted loser men but suddenly so many loser men insist on wearing dresses and being called ma'am
>>93146205Tbf I’m only bothered by it because I’m also a tranny .-.
>>93146246Gross. Consider therapy
>>93146187>losing to low IQ, mentally I'll people>>93146246that explains it
after MH3 rotated every format is DD or Lands the better deck to play in legacy?
>>93146403I lost to normal people!!!>>93146329If therapy worked I wouldn’t be an adult complaining about a card game on the internet
>>93146420Nadu time sieve
>>93146056Look again
>>93146056Two of those cards are starter deck cards.
>>93146544SOUL
>>93146056It's commander shit.
I’ve beat a lot of trannies. black trannys control trannys rdw trannys prison trannys but nothing feels better than beating boring ass braindead mono white human trannys. How after 30 years is no one tired of that shit yet?
>>93146544my wife....
>>93146708Get a job.
>>93146056>Name, Title
>>93146848Well they are the main characters of the story.
>>93146056>Other creatures you control have ProwessHow crazy shit that simple ability can lead to?
>>93146964Not very?
>>93145736Who fucking cares at this point. There's a dozen broken decks in every format at any one time. Just let it all buck, any sense of balance or uniqueness in this game has been gone for fucking decades.
>>93145499>test with necro today>about 40/60 vs ur wizardsSeemd like a bad matchup but jamming necro is just powerful when you can, so really seems like your only having a bad tome against counterspell decks.I think this means necro is pretty good if it comes down
>take a break for 3 months>come back and I can kill people in Timeless and Historic with janky energy decksOkay this made magic fun again
>>93147158also>timeless is unironically the most interactive and fun Eternal format>unlike Modern games actually require decisions and aren't all about snowballing an unanswered threat>fairly diverse metagame>even Scam feels like a fair policeman deck that controls comboPaper bros...not like this
>>93147167>Timeless seems fin->AlchemyAaaaand it's gone.
>>93147196Honestly this is just a dumb opinion. The alchemy cards aren't even that good in Timeless, and the ones that are played tend to be fun. I don't care about irrational hatred of digital only cards
>>93147030Absolutely buck broken by a card game, god damn son.
>>93145452>tqPioneer set legality changed to include only sets from Kaladesh, forward.
>>93147829just wait for pioneer (aka intrepid) in a few years
>>93147888stop pushing this meme
>>93145452>arclight phoenix gets looting banned for muh design space>nothing even close to phoenix has been printed in 6 years of powercreepArclight phoenix is hilariously overpowered and should have been banned in every format. Fuck you for ever thinking otherwise, I never did.
>>93148053>entire deck folds to a single exile effect Lmao
>>93148085Phoenix isn't too strong in pioneer yet but its existence stops them from printing fun cards. Also, overboarding on hate against phoenix is a trap because the deck plays around it pretty well.
>>93148118Mtggoldfish says it's 15% of the meta so I would assume it's very strong.
>>93145985Any plane of existence and they just went with boring earth animals. They didn't even combine them or go with cool uncommon picks. Funny little furry alien creatures going up against primal force of destruction dragons (eh, not unique but not the worst) would of been cool but fuck creativity I guess. Death race could be a cool concept if it was like all the planeswalkers having to race to a macguffin or something but there's some worrying portents that it's going to be literally just wacky jacers. If the set after that is more retarded costume shit and nothing new and cool then yes, mtg is dead.
turns out AC is actually getting fully implemented on MTGOgiven what happened to Dr. Who and Fallout I was under the impression this wasn't going to happen, so the digital and paper modern meta won't have different card pools just yet
>makes your elf tribal deck unstoppableHeh, nothin personal kid
>>93148206Death Race did apparently use Wacky Races as inspiration, but I'd wager that's likely moreso for the aesthetic of it than the overall tone (though there might be SOME goofy shit in that tone as side-stuff, goblins and whatnot).
>>93145605>blocks your path
>>93148223They're so good and nobody I've played EDH with realizes how huge of a threat they areI paid $1.XX for mine before it was reprinted in MH3 tho :(
>>93148223ELVES T2!
>>93148287It provides protection, but more importantly you pair it with an arch Druid or a priest of Titania and a skyshroud lookout and you get extra mana and a free elf. Such a good card
What if in set 2 it turns out the furry little creatures are actually the bad guys and imprisoned the primal titans for nefarious reasons?Look, >>93146056, Mable is a white/red mouse supremacist, Burke is literally anti-black, Bria thinks only people born with prowess should have rights and Lumra is giant fucking bear.
>exile has finally fully become graveyard 2can't wait for this to definitely only be done once and not become a recurring theme in the future!
>>93148206>>93148238>Angrath piloting a race car with the siren and goblin pirates from ixalan trowing explosive against the other cars>Finn and the Blue Kaldhelm god using that Norse-God-chariot-with-those-giant-cats, Finn trowing poisoned tooth while the god guides them into the omenpaths>The nu-Weatherlight crew losing and getting cucked by all other racers>Ajani and Brimaz racing using a ferrari>Kaya, ghost-Teysa, and Tyvar racing using a magical tree that is pushed by a bunch of not-slave-ghostsGod please make wotc go bankrupt!
>>93146056I love how the symbol for this set is a leaf. Because Canadians love fucking animals.
Standard goes on and on for far too long before rotation now I swear I’ve been playing against the same shit for like 5 years
>>93148360For me, it’s every color having access to shitting out tokens all over the place endlessly
>>93148365>Implying they remembered the Weatherlight crew existing
Do you think it's going to be like an actual racecar race red yellow green go checkered flag and all? Surely by race they mean around the world in 80 days style race right? What being would have the power to force everyone to compete in jacekart?
>>93148430I miss them bros. I miss them so much
Did the new ral got spoiled yet? the PW from bloomburrow that gives storm to your spells.
>>93148365Didn't the new Weatherlight get compleated?
>>93148447sovl
>>93148462Everything that was compleated was magically cured when Elesh Norn got killed in the anticlimactic final battle on new Phyrexia. Because… They just did! Ok?!
Adorable furry little creatures empire forced into being evil expansionist empire because somehow they got put in a them or everything else scenario y/n?
>>93148321i'm surprised no one is doing gb shaman builds, but craterhoof is insane
>>93148504Yeah monogreen is just to OP right now. I don’t even use Craterhoof in one of my elf tribal decks. Just running 4X priest of Titania, 4X elvish archdruids, a few allosaurus shepherds, and 4X elvish war masters. Get a couple of the big mana elves down, one wire wood symbiote, then pump the team and smash. It’s a lot of fun. Picrel
>>93148504>>93148530Oops, picrel
>>93148447>ywn be a teenager living durring mirage blockSeriously there ate people who lived durring the most soulful period in existence right before humanity Fermi peridoxes itself
>>93148360Even Mark agrees.
>>93146544>mouse>3/3thats a beast of a mouse.
>>93146187Filtered
>>93148583Guess mice are stronger than grizzly bears now.
The Storm Scale was created on Mark Rosewater's blog, Blogatog, in response to a question asking for the odds of cascade being reprinted "on a scale of storm-10". It is named for the storm mechanic, which Rosewater describes as the most broken mechanic ever printed, and which will almost certainly never be reprinted in a Standard-legal set.
If this is real they're defining a fish token as a 1/1 blue creature.
>>93148673Always was.
>>93148667this is the card i was talking about
>>93148673What the hell is this art?
>>93148673That's actually a really good pongify effectModern playable?
>>93148667This will never be good. Too many things have to be going right. Combo is too slow.
Why is Felidar Guardian still banned in Pioneer? Was it ever played outside one combo deck?
>>93148712Finally more abstract goodness hopefully. Every card doesn't need a figurative and literal gay humanoid on it.
Phoenix isn't even the best deck in pioneer right nowIt's never getting touched because it just plays for board and every deck in the format is capable of fighting it
>>93148745it was too cheap to build
>>93148745>Why is Felidar Guardian still banned in Pioneer?2 card combo with saheeli>Was it ever played outside one combo deck?not really, playing felidar guardian without saheeli would be like playing sorin without vein ripper
>>93148667Expensive ults like that are usually meant to be game ending wincons. Storm on one card that's meant to be a "You win the game." effect with extra steps is fine.
Merfolk recently took down a decently sized tournament with a 10k prize poolHarbinger is a nice, consistent finisher for the deck and Flare adds a much needed extra layer of interaction Japan is also apparently really high on Merfolk in modern right now
[RETARD QUESTION]Can you discard cards without a trigger? Or do you have to have a card or requirement (greater than 7 cards in hand at the end of your turn) force a discard?Example, If I have 'Anger' in my (5 card) hand, can I just discard it on a whim?
>>93148827No
>>93148827nah, you only discard cards when something specific either forces you or allows you to do it, you can't just decide to discard a card from your hand out of nowhere just because it's convenient
How good is the cactus person deck in standard?
>>93148851Which one?
I choose to discard Griselbrand and I will now cast reanimate on it.
How come Armageddon destroys my own lands? That's obviously not how the card works.
>>93148907I activate Karakas targeting Griselbrand.
>>93149020Karakas is banned in commander
>>93149053Gross.
From what I pulled from the lore, they just straight up neutered Phyrexia because the oil won't work without Norn and Elspeth killed herAlso why did they invade every fucking plane at once
>>93149350>they just straight up neutered Phyrexia because the oil won't work without Norn and Elspeth killed herWell it was either retcon the oil or have every plane fucked forever>Also why did they invade every fucking plane at onceIt's epic bro
>>93149053So is Griselbrand
Confess your MTG sins, anons.I'll startI only play MTG on Arena between the hours of 2 and 5 AM, since I have a night shift job and need something to fill those hours.
>>93148462>throw off to a Iconic and well loved story line>get compleated (borged)("one of us" ized)>Don't get cardsI don't know, anon. I know that people working at wotc absolutely hates the game and its story but the new crew is pretty diverse and was made by them. Maybe they aren't just bigots but also retarded (possible imo)
>>93148298The best tier that Elves should be in. If it got any stronger people will just pack toxic deluge and plague engineers. Decks like these are best left under the radar so people dont expect it.
HEY HEY HEY
>>93149504I still play the game on paper and my doomposts is ironic.
So early but I will take those as leaks because of the bad camera (leaks done with shit camera quality have proven to be reliable)>>93148667At 4 mana I think people aren't playing it outside of standard and pioneer, but it is crazy powerful.>>93148673We knew from the fish tokens before, so nothing new here.(that bag of tokens and dice from bloomborrow that will be sold for a premium price)(we also know of tokens that are copies of creatures, but as a 1/1 instead of original p/t)
>>93149350They intentionally rushed New Phyrexia's return for fear they lacked mass appeal, both in terms of continuity baggage and the gross-out factor. If you look at Dominaria United's designs, there's still a decent amount of body horror considering the current state of WotC. ONE is far more restrained, and I think that's probably a consequence of the art directors (at least if the unused concept art is anything to go by). Then by MOM they're basically just weird cartoon monsters that get shitstomped on every plane they show up to. The response I saw outside of /tg/ was pretty mixed, with a lot of complaining but also a lot of people expressing distaste for the Phyrexians visually and thematically. I imagine WotC has listened to the latter feedback moving forward and has used that to validate the game's continued descent into self-parody.
>>93148716>Modern playable?lmao>>93148667>which Rosewater describes as the most broken mechanic ever printed, and which will almost certainly never be reprinted in a Standard-legal set.don't believe his lies ( . jpg)Also they just printed a better cascade last year (and made sure to have a shit combo in standard).
>>93149350>Also why did they invade every fucking plane at onceThe fucking amazing wotc's writing team...>>93149423>Well it was either retcon the oil or have every plane fucked foreverWell they retconned the oil to fully corrupt (compleat) anyone within minutes (less than a hour).(when in reality the oil originally took a very long ass time to take effect, Memnarch entry on the book had no indication of time but even if we count it as only minutes then the oil only gave "inspiration" on him, and even after years he still wasn't full phyrexian. He had mutated to have more organical parts but that is it. The Nin were other exemple of the oil effect, and it took years to change the humans into Nins.)(The oil in march of the machines and a few sets before that was so bullshit)>>93149546dire times
>>93149546>Then by MOM they're basically just weird cartoon monsters that get shitstomped on every plane they show up to.Yeah, it kind of makes Mirrans look weak
>>93148667Maybe if it costed two mana it would see heavy play. At four its just too clunky.>>93148673Of course the white exile spell is two mana. If it was a black spell or blue spell it would only cost 1 mana.
>>93149504The only reason I even keep up with this game is in the hopes that my favorite (non-existent) tribe gets any attention in standard and/or modern. I pretty much never think about the game outside of spoiler season.
>>93149546Meant to include this to illustrate my point. This could almost pass for something from New Phyrexia.
>>93149745Wow that is really good body horror. That would give someone nightmares for weeks. It almost has a sort of found footage look to it as well.
>>93149517I miss this guy and Patrick a lot.
>>93149350>From what I pulled from the lore, they just straight up neutered Phyrexia because the oil won't work without Norn and Elspeth killed herAfter giving them a billion random buffs for no reason and completely changing how compleation works every other set to the point that it was a literally unbeatable threat and they finally realized they wrote themselves into a corner. Unfortunately, it had to be done.
>>93148413It's because they extended rotation by a year in a desperate attempt to get more people into standard
>>93149745Can we expect this kind of quality for Duskmourn or will be a fucking goofy Haunted House shit?
>>93150385It's going to be pop-culture references (there will be numerous new legends based on iconic slasher characters)
>>93150405Depressing...
>>93145452>Predictions for tomorrow's B&R?Monogreen angel. Haha. But srsly, how come there's artifact angels eg. Platinum Angel but no monogreen angels?
>>93150508close-up of the monoblue Illusory Angel
Aw man I got lots of tickets and could pick up a draft token and 10 mythic cards but I don't have enough gems to unlock the ability to spend my tickets and I don't have enough gold to standard draft which I'll have to do well enough in to get enough gems to spend tickets so I can get a draft token to draft and 10 mythics.10 fucking bucks? C'mon wotc they're digital cards, gems should be half the price they are. Then I'd totally pay you.
>>93148673Wait, so this is both removal and an a better ephemirate effect? That's so pushed wtf
>>93150712>better>costs more>works only once
>>93148667>>93148673Both shit.BLB absolute shit set incoming.
>>93150719Still pushed, having 8 ephemirate is broken
>>93148716Yes.It will see play in scam
>>93148667>Loyalty counters on Non creature spells, not just instant and sorcery spells People are underestimating that
>>93150735That's not a fucking ephemerate, you dumbfuck. There are already millions of cards like that.Ephemerate is only good because of rebound.
>>93148827>Can you discard cards without a trigger?no
>>93150766Ephemirate would be broken without rebound purely because it costs one mana and can be used on turn one. Sticking ephemirate on path to exile is extremely pushed, you basically slapped the two most broken effects in the game together and made them cost one mana. Having one card that has multiple great effects is better than two cards that do the same thing. plus it's white so it goes in more decks than time twist
>>93150786...parting gust is two white mana
>>93150760if you're playing ral in a format where mishra's bauble is legal, storm spells are also legal, which defeats the entire point of playing ral, he's 4 mana, that's the same amount people pay for the one ring
>>93150806Yeah but you can put storm on more fun things
>>93150786Damn I can't believe Cloudshift has been under our noses all this time and saw literally zero play before Ephemerate existed
>>93150760You really think fucking ral will see play in Modern anon? Because you are crazy if you believe that
i need... netdecks... goldfish... winner decks... please...
The lengths I'm willing to go to to force sellsword into modern.
Ral is a 4 mana PW, you need really obnoxious bullshit for such price, like Emperor or Karn, other 4 mana PW like Vivien or Chandra are sideboard singletons at best
>>93150786Go back to mount gag.
>>93150819sure but people aren't underestimating the card, it just isn't very good at 4 mana
>>93148823Very good but people should stop forcing flare, that gard is dogshit, in all the matches I've done and seen I've only used it once...and I hardcasted it because it's basically never worth sacrificing a piece on the board, running FoN > counterspell >>>>>>>>>>>>>> flare.Other than that harbinger is good in being spreading seas 5-8 against good players.
>>93148779Which is bullshit because Sorin was played before Vein Ripper appeared, even if vampires were a blip on the meta radar. If you built a vampire deck, Sorin was in it.
This deck is doing surprisingly well. I went 12-2 with it in Historic Ranked in Diamond. Aether Revolt is actually kind of a busted card, I didn't realize how powerful it is. It combos people out insanely quickly. Played it a bit in Timeless too. That made me want to build a sideboard and play some best of 3 with it. What do you think would go good in a sideboard? Probably some kind of pyroclasm effect and a few more counters. Not sure what else, can't sideboard too much because energy synergy needs critical massDeck4 Island4 Mountain4 Harnessed Lightning4 Steam Vents4 Whirler Virtuoso4 Aether Hub4 Prismatic Vista4 Rush of Inspiration4 Aether Spike4 Tune the Narrative4 Aether Revolt4 Amped Raptor4 Galvanic Discharge4 Cyclops Superconductor4 Izzet Generatorium
>>93150806>storm spells are also legalThe storm keyword is cumulative, so it would double your number of copies
>>93150914And now he will die for WOTC absolutely shit designs... Sad.
>>93150919>Historic>ArenaOut of here.
>>9314866710 is a lot, but feels pretty doable with Ichormoon gauntlet. You probably need something else to do with Ichormoon though. Maybe a mindsplice Apparatus deck?
>>93150931Historic and Timeless are better than Modern and have been for some time. Timeless is the best balanced eternal format. A bit sad but it is what it is
>>93150937It's not, timeless lacks the legacy/vintage answers, it has potential, but it won't be good until FoW/daze/wasteland comes to the format, right now it's whoever combos 1st to win.t. mythic every season in timeless
>>93150954That isn't true though. I've played a lot of Timeless and combo isn't oppressive at all unless you consider Scam and Boros Energy aggro combos. Scam has actually improved Timeless a lot, it polices the combo. I'm not sure why it works out that way exactly but it does. That said I think FoW and Daze would be welcome additions. IDK about Wasteland, there are issues with it. Then again I haven't really played Legacy much so maybe it is better than Timeless. I was thinking more in comparison to Modern.
>>93150963There's a large number of decks that win randomly t2/t3 even with bullshit softcombos like buried alive-phoenix and they generally can't be answered pre-board, real free counters and LD would go a long way to stop these retarded free wins. Also the format is definitely not close to modern, if you had to visualize it it's between modern - legacy being 80% closer to legacy than modern.
>>93150995It's all a matter of taste but I personally find Modern unplayable and have for some time. It feels like games have no decisions, it's just "here's my unbeatable thread/value engine answer it now or die" on both sides. Totally uninteresting to me. I say that as someone who used to consider Modern my "main" format. I'm not sure how they can fix it though, the "fair" threats are just too good and there are a million of them
>>93148667>>93148673...and people were actually "hype" for this set?
>>93151026Unironically, Bloomburrow has Svl. I can already tell I will love drafting it and playing the cards in Standard. It's the first time the flavor of a set has captured my interest in years
Bloomburrow is a White man's set that speaks to the ancestral memory of the European forest and Christendom. Asian grinders wouldn't get it any more than I really get stuff like Three Kingdoms.....
>>93151036nice AI art, what free service is that?
b&r when? I need some blanket unbans in Pioneer
Friendly reminder from the card info we have right now you can already tell BLB will flop as hard as Capenna. The set will be another theme park history without any value outside of furry stuff
>>931510582-ish hours from now I think? maybe 3
>>93151058>UnbansKethisBallistaInverter of TruthVeil of Summer
>>93151085Hey man, cool it with the racially insensitive language.
why is everyone here so spiteful?
>>93151105They are old Modern players who hate Modern but can't let go and it has made them spiteful and unhappy
>>93151088I mean it as a general term for ignorant motherfucker.
>>93151105We have all spent the last decade watching soulless corporations that used to create things that we love slowly turn into leftist slop factories that actively hate us and want to alienate us as fast as possible.
>>93151083Maybe not Veil. Rest is fine. Kethis died for Oracle's sins anyway. I would put him right the fuck into my golgari legendary.
>>93150508Because angels have wings and WOTC doesn't want to give too much flying to monogreen.
>>93150963>I was thinking more in comparison to Modern.>Timeless is the best balanced eternal format.the most well known (60 card) eternal format is legacy, eternal doesn't just mean non-rotating, it means everything is legal + a banlist/restrictions, modern isn't an eternal format for example, it doesn't allow all of the cards, it picks a specific time frame of standard sets (2003 to 2024) and adds some supplemental onesI think timeless is the most fun format on arena but it's inferior to legacy by a huge margin, even if you added a bunch of legacy staples, it would still be missing a lot of important cards, that's how massive legacy is
What are your expectations, hopes and fears for Final Fantasy set? All I know is that it will feature all mainline games.
>>93151580>expectationsThat it'll be shit.>hopesNone whatsoever.>fearsThat it'll still sell.
>>93151580I don't care about any new set, I just see if there are good cards in it when it comes out, make an order to the chinaman and move on.

The Regional Championship round for Pioneer starts September 28 and goes to December 7.I told you all, they don't want to make any changes during the RCQ season, the only chance of anything getting banned in Pioneer will be in the post-Bloomburrow B&R in august, which happens before the RC in september

>>93153244Red/Black being not lolsorandumb evil for a change could be nice. Could have something about cheating; cheating is accepted as long as you don't get caught, because creative methods of circumventing the rules and evading the detection measures shows intelligence. Also ties into RB being the two enemy colors of White, since they're going against order and authority. It's a school, so they could actually do a more philosophical and intelligent take on RB, take some inspiration from individualist philosophies like egoism rather than just making them selfish assholes without any logic behind it. Even if, in a lot of ways, they're still selfish, cheating, power-hungry assholes, they go about it all in a different way, and justify it using different means. Less "Dude fuck the system I don't care I'll cheat if I want to", more "If the system can not stop me from cheating, then I have outsmarted the system itself, proving that I've earned the right to pass." Could also take some inspiration from the "hacking" popular at universities like MIT, basically elaborate and creative pranks intended to push the limits of a system, prior to the term "hacking" adopting its current usage.
>>93153602>Red/Black being not lolsorandumb evil for a change could be niceAs much as red can be good because they're just the individuality colour, it's really hard to reconcile "good" with "power at any cost".
>>93153617Freedom and power can be a sort of philosophy of self-liberation for the sake of self-determination. It's tricky to make it seem not too harsh too.
>>93151969>Modern>"Nadu is fine because storm can win one turn faster"So easy to balance a game, if something is broken, just make something even more broken
>>93153617Black isn't necessarily "power at any cost", that's just one aspect of it. Each color is supposed to have many aspects, and combinations take various aspects from each color to create something new. Unfortunately, Black has basically always just been treated as the "evil" color, no matter how hard WotC tries to insist that it's not evil, and once the color combinations were done once WotC insisted on sticking to those specific interpretations of the combos since it was easier to just rehash what they'd already done rather than do something new with the traits those ones left out. Also, funny thing, Red isn't actually supposed to be the "individuality" color - that's Black's thing, allegedly. Red's the "freedom" color. It gets muddied a lot, since Black's just the "evil" color 99% of the time.
>>93153617There's other aspects of black they could use. Like in Eldraine, black's virtue is persistence, which I think is fair to say is a generally positive trait. Even in Strixhaven itself, WB had an asshole side but GB didn't really. If they can pivot RW to archaeology, they could pivot RB to other things too.

>>93153617The secret of the color pie is that almost anyone/anything outside of one dimensional caricatures could be represented as any color, with enough stretching. That's a good thing, the flexibility allows for creativity. Take gymbros for example, as >>93153822 suggested. They could be W for following orderly regimens, U for long term self improvement, B for persistence in a selfish goal, R for athletic action, or G for working on physical fitness.I think the main concept for Strixhaven was the dichotomy between the colors in each school, for example Lorehold had the red side be about adventure and discovery, while the white side was more about preserving history. If they're doing schools for the ally pairs, they'd probably stick with that idea. So a RB school would focus on how red and black differ, rather than how they're similar.
