In short, I'm a physically powerful Lunarian combat genius with both the power to access any future version of myself I think is possible (which is even more useful in Animlondo than regular One Piece due to the expanded kitchen sink) and the ability to basically reality warp anything I touch as long as I know it's name. Any and all of my powers can be modulated on the fly to suit my needs. Sarrista will protect us while we train, and we'll simultaneously go on a quest for the Dragon Balls to heal her. You don't full-body teleport to different planes, you have to have a body there to sleeve into. And you've got to manage and take care of bodies you're not inhabiting.

Then there could be lots of different ways to get bodies. Magical, technological, psionic.
Maybe there's a technique to quickly grow a temporary body that only lasts a few days.
Maybe you've got god-like power, but only on a particular plane because that's where you invested in a god-like form.

It would also contribute to blending in on any plane, because you belong to one of the local races/phenotypes.

Personally I doubt Eidolon was at fault at all. It's again and again shown that the shards exist for conflict. I don't believe for a second if someone else less action-minded had gotten his shard that something like the Endbringers wouldn't have come about. They might have acted differently, but hell without Eidolon's shonen protagonist attitude they might have just gone straight into killing the world.

How unique does a setting have to be to count as homebrew?

Let's say I create a world inspired by classic heroic adventure TTRPGs.
I make it so the world is a giant maze and people forage and live within giant rooms but the maze is mostly unexplored only the bravest adventurers venture far and mysteriously the maze seems to shift so mapping it is only useful to try and decipher a patter to it's movement.
Is that enough?

Pretty much. That sounds like a great idea.

My issue with franchises being incorporated in to planeswalking CYOA's is that the settings exist in their own bubbles. There's too much established that separates it from the other franchises/planes. It makes the CYOA as a whole very discordant and breaks immersion.

But if you take franchise settings, file off the serial numbers, and bring them closer in line with each other in terms of powers, items, tech, tone, whatever, then it's fine. Because it helps suspend disbelief.

Next, Magi Case wizards are limited to only one or two schools of magic, whilst “conventional” wizards can cast spells from any background.
Lastly, Omniarch candidates seem to be Auctor level, minimum.

Overall, the Magi Case setting would be one of the most impressive worlds that the Convention comes across, but they’d still lose because The Convention is just operating on a much larger scale.

Their biggest edge against Magi is a Negation spell that isn't any of those things, that simply deletes any spells targeted at the caster if it's timed correctly. And then, most other Negation spells only affect Blood magic. ToT and BM both also emphasize that Blood mages are entirely possible to counter with skill alone. Their main edge is having scrying or cursing attacks that don't need a direct line of sight
Conventional magic is a whole other beast. It is absolutely a capeshit/vidya type casting system. Any of its elements are also stretched to the most versatile reading of its theme (unperceived/hidden things, spacetime, or neat imaginary concepts with murky physical representations) except for Entropic which goes all-out with energy and material manipulation. Most Conventional mooks are still mooks, they only know a handful of different spells in its spellcrafts, and they do not have access to the notorious "sorceries" that make a majority of the Convention's scary factor.
I think that the /Covenants/ from Blood Magic using Conventional magic would be successfully resisted or stalemated by the Magi Case Clans, but the Convention itself would only "lose" by retreating to cut their finances - and we know how much of a sucker that they are for sunk cost fallacies. The NPC factions from Ouroboros are the only other planeswalker factions that come close to the Convention in power, as far as I know.

Bring more focus to the different locales than the player character's superpowers. The second worst (first worst being Jumpchain by any other name) of planeswalker material is just a power picker with interdimensional travel powers.

Just to clarify I'm not the guy that asked the initial question.
In regards to powers and equipment you get them before starting the adventure what each world offers are allies that share the local power system and the unique resources of each reality.
For example the 3 kingdoms one has one of the leaders as a companion and their most important resource is that their power system is relatively easy to teach so you could train regular troops even if they are from outside the setting in it.
Other settings will offer high tech weapons, access to great quantities of rare materials, etc.
And each world will also have different challenges and forces opposing you.
But in general what you get at the start will be the best you can personally get.
