>Thread question:
If you have squatted models, are you proxying them, and if so what as?
>>
>TQ
Most of my stormcast are sacrosanct but I was already kind of done with this hobby in general so I'm just gonna keep using the legends rules until someone says no and then I'll just do something else. I'm not gonna sit down and make a guide for myself/opponent about what model is what every time GW decides to delete a bunch of shit
>>
>>93659737
1 out of 4 what?
>>
>TQ
GW left in the Dreadspears, so my Eternal Guard have a cover, and I'm re-doing my corsairs. The hard part is coming up with a new theme. The events that goes from being pan-elf alliance builders to like 50/50 humans and dark elves. Because what used to be a quarter of my army is now half.
>>
>>93659849
Of the heroes on the cover, Stormcast has been squatted, as has the Eldritch Wizard. The Cogsmith is in TOW, which is a death sentence. Only the Fleetmaster, as Dark Elves aren't anywhere near close to being added to TOW(Vampires, Skaven, Ogres, ect), is safe.

Got some Empire handgunners that i'm using as Fusilers (ordering some 3D shields as well)

it like the only model im sort proxying as the Fusiliers are the only model from nu-CoS i just don't like would have prefer them just kept the Arquebus or the Swivel gun the fusilier-major gun uses

so my CoS army is just bunch of the new models (Steelhelms, Cavaliers, Command corp, Warhulk, canon, marshal on horse, Steel rook) and the Karl franz which i will proxy as Talhia Vedra once that gets send back to TOW
>>
>>93661134
Karl Franz isn’t getting sent back to Old World because it’s set way before his birth. Old World is set earlier than Warhammer fantasy battle was. You have elf characters and others that make sense ( Settra ) etc, but none of the same humans. It predates Archaeon.
>>
>>93661397
the kit is still going back to the old world seeing as how it can be built as two generic lord options.
>>
>>93661397

Karl Franz Sr.

Checkmate. That'll be $120 USD please.
>>
>>93661397
What a dumb call that was. At least half of all the people who clamor for tow are total war secondaries who aren't gonna like not being able to spout elector count memes. Which sucks because I think those guys and the people who just want WHFB should get their game and have fun with it but GW fucks everything up all the time.
>>
>>93661475
They can still spout elector count memes. IIRC it’s set during the Age of the Three Emperors. If they expand on that angle for the empire then it should be a more diverse empire setting than TWW. Considering the central theme of the civil war/strife is the conflict between the Cult of Sigmar, who deify Sigmar as a Godchild and the Cult of Ulric ( ancient wolf God that predates Sigmar ) who claim Sigmar was merely a man blessed by Ulric. Also adding to this you have the Emperor supported by the cult of Taal. Do you have a setting that allows for massive diversity and three effective broad flavours of Empire armies based on religious civil war.
Although they did say that Asavar Kul will be featured as the big bad so that would date the setting to the very end of the Age of Three Emperors and the reunification of the Empire under Magnus the Pious. But you do have wolf priests represented in Old World. So Empire will probably at least get the Cult of Ulric models back.

There is no Imperial expedition if that is what you are asking. But you already have many human cities founded on the coasts of Lustria. None of them are officially within the realm of the empire. Towns like Swamp Town and Port Reaver are more like free cities, they harbour pirates, exiles, traders and adventurers looking to raid inland for gold. Within them you can find men of the Empire, Bretonnia and the various border princes. None of them save for spies are there in service of any nation. Then you have the old Norscan settlements further north, which are also human but not really deep into chaos like the Norscan tribes. More Viking explorers and raiders. They have the longest foothold in lustria of any of the humans.
>>
>>93662157
I don't think that's the intention. It's not a passive ability, so the ability isn't supposed to do anything unless you activate it. But they seem to have forgotten to have written its "Declare" condition on there, so it reads confusing.
>>
>>93662195
I am treating it as every combat phase until they FAQ it because RAW it seems like there isn't a choice involved you just take dmg and get attacks. This is kind of nuts because it doesn't say anything about even being in combat for this to pop

I mean sure, I would never turn down a clarifying faq, and it does seem to lack a proper declare call out, but I don't think the raw or rai currently force you to use it, and I doubt anyone would try to make you play it that way either. If they try to argue with you, you can cite the 3rd edition warscroll for intended function since it's an identical ability just ported over

My sacrosanct will be heavily played until squatting, after which time my sequitors will become Liberators, my Dracolines will be Dracoths, my evocators will be Reclusians, Knight incantors become knight arcanums, Lord arcanum on gryph charger becomes lord vigilant on gryph stalker and Aventis Firestrike becomes Ionus Cryptborn.

I even converted my Ionus into a vampire lord in preparation for Aventis replacing him.

It's honestly James's fault for writing an army around 5 distinct clans each with their own micro ranges (pestilens even had a separate battletome at one point) and basically telling each of them they can run each clan as a self contained army

Being a new player I have a question about future. I have been told that GW, sometimes, removes armies from play for various reasons. Now I was planning to start Stormcast Eternals as my army, as they are the closest to medival knights and I like italian gothic armour. But now I am worried that after Stormcast losing so bad in their event, GW will think that they are not popular and not give them cool new rules or worse remove them from the game, by the end of the edition. My question is, are my worries valid or are their just a product of my mind. I don't have a large hobby budget and would rather pick a safer different army, then one that could potentialy be gone by the time I finish collecting it to play.

>>
>>93663435

Removing Stormcast will only happen the day Age of Sigmar is nuked off the face of the earth. They are THE faction for AoS branding. That's like asking if Halo would get rid of Master Chief/Spartans because Arbiter is cool too.

Welcome to AoS. Just avoid any of the old stuff (Sacrosant Chamber, I think?) and you'll be golden.
>>
>>93663435
>remove them from the game
This will literally never happen. Stormcast ARE AoS. They may lose units, but they ain't going away.
>>
>>93663424
I think it will be resculpts of the rest of warrior chamber mostly and some more ruination chamber.
>>
>>93663435

>>
>>93663424
Doubt it. If that was the plan then they would just have discontinued those models along with sacrosanct.
>>
>>93663452
>I think it will be resculpts of the rest of warrior chamber
Honestly, what's left? They did liberators and Prosecutors. Paladins and Judicators are phased out. Most of the old heroes are either already replaced or expendable, I expect to see a new Lord Celestant and Lord Relictor and not much else.

At this point, it'll either be more Ruination, or resculpts of Vanguard or Extremis.
>>
>>93663377
Their objective control ability is overvalued. Most objective control abilities are
>>
>>93663474
Sticking a sculpt in legends means nothing. Paladin with X and Judicator with x is a different scroll then a new unit.
>>
>>93663446
>>93663451
Is there a way to know which units are the removed ones? Like is there some sort of a mark on the box. I don't think there are any , at least in my country, that have sacrosanct in their name. I don't want to fall for a "last minute super offer" to find out next day I can't use the models.

The model I like the best of all the Age of Sigmar range are dudes with hammers and large hoplon like shields, and others with large two handed hammers.

>>93663454
thank you for being helpful.
>>
>>93663443
Why is there so much nuln oil on the flat panels?
>>
>>93663474
Why not make sacrosanct resculpts or a chamber that looks just like sacrosanct, so that people who have been build their armies around them don't feel like GW took their money and then kicked them in the nads.
>>
>>93663490

Not on the boxes, just on WarCom.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/04/04/whats-leaving-the-warhammer-age-of-sigmar-range/

Liberators? They're safe. Worst I think is they got a new look since most of the refresh is essentially new, slimmer armor on everyone.

Take it with a grain of salt. I don't play Stormcast, never have and never will. I don't know the names.

Oh that is very helpful. Bit sad about the ape ridders, but gone is gone. Looks like most of the units I like are not sacrosanct and maybe in the future they will add some sort of mounted heavy infantry.

I like this guys the most. If it was possible, and I could afford it I would make an army out of just them.
>>
>>93663518
Because someone who lost 400$ after saving it for 4-6 years is going to run off and start buying another army to collect it for another 4-6 years, so GW can remove it too. :thumbs up:

If they gave a fuck they wouldn't have removed them in the first place, its not my fucking logic you're questioning. Their model is to make stormcast every couple years to fund the rest of the ranges but they don't know how to stash them so they tried range rotation to see what the backlash would be like.

you could also easily do evocators on foot as reclusians, and possibly sequitors as liberators although the grandhammer count might be off, sequitors could manage to squeeze 3 grandhammers in a 5 man unit from what i remember, so maybe it would be better to run only the grandhammers and use them as whatever new 2 handed reclusian variant comes out.

evocators on dracolines also easily could just be either palladors or some new gryph crow cavalry ruination unit when that comes out.

the stormcast shit is all on the same size bases, and all extremely similar in appearance, its probably the easiest counts as army in the game. and after seeing the kinds of heavy conversions some of the best players in the world run at tournaments, it should be no problem

I WISH I skipped Realmslayer, it fucking sucks. But no, Gotrek giving up on his attachment to a dead world is a different thing than settling the question of why Felix is not in the Realm of the Dead even though Snorri was. They left that door open on purpose.
>>
>>93664434
Except for the usual edgy retards necking themselves because she's a guuuurl ewwww I saw nothing but praise for her back in the day. She had good chemistry with Gotrek and a good dynamic, even if it was wearing out it's welcome a little bit by Soulslayer.
>>
>>93664445

There's no winning with Felix. It's best they just leave him nebulous.

Maybe save him for a commemorative model or some FOMO shit.
>>
>>93664401
And even if he's brought back, what the fuck they are going to do? Find Makaison and fly with kharadron overlords, looking for something that Gotrek can try to kill himself against?
Felix lost everything while getting Gotrek to the shrine of Grimnir in the endtimes.

There is, just bring him back but as a stormcast that got his identity erased along the way.

You get gotrek to move one and do something else, you get what's essentially a new character and you get to do any sort of fanservicy interactions like gotrek mentioning a past adventure in the hope felix remembers it, or insulting him because he's a shitty rememberer.

Based on what?
This is nonsensical of the fact that center and pillar to literally every stormcast story is them reconcile being reincarnated as a new person with their own lives and the friction that comes from those two rubbing together. And weather or not they accept it. Do you think GW would turn Felix into a stormcast to not make stories about him?

I need advice, how should I finish up the weapons on these Mountain Dew flameseekers?

Also, any tips on making the gold runes pop more?

Faux wood and brass fittings.

I'm assuming this doesn't have rules anymore does it
>>
>>93670033
I wouldn't. Shit like that can get you fired, and I certainly wouldn't risk it for someone. Maybe once in a while for family or I'd let my girlfriend do it if she got into Warhammer, but not regular people or even friends. Too risky. I'd honestly say just apply to be an On-Call since they're needed and necessary and you can get a pretty relaxed job (when you work) and your own discount.
>>
>>93670793
I don't mean to be insulting, but I already have full time work and I both cannot be on call because of it, unless they would be paying $40/hour or near there it wouldn't be worth my time value. I would prefer to just befriend, maybe even legitimately if he's cool, a redshirt so I can use the discount.
>>
>>93670865

"I'd rather risk someone else's job than maybe work once or twice every other month."

For shame.
>>
>>93670946
Don't worry I know where GW puts the trackers in the plastic, ill carve them out with a hobby knife. No risk to him.

does the skaventide rat ogres kit have any posability or customization?

You don't need more than 3 poses. Stop being a grog.
>>

You get head swaps.

Just wait a few years and there will be another 3 monoposes for variety if you really want it.

okay, thanks. i looked online on the website but they dont actually show the sprues so i couldnt tell.

i've been trying to decide if i want to run 1 unit of 6 or 2 units of 6, but if they are that limited i might just stick to 1 unit. i can stomach the odd repeat here or there but i dont like attack of the clones on my minis

There's tons of STL's and even people you can buy from that print STL's of rat ogres.

>The diseased ones in the Warcry warband are too big of a design change
What. They're nigh-identical aside from the tentacles. Remove those and show them to anyone who doesn't play the faction and 90% of respondents would tell you they're probably from the same box.
>>
>>93671904
I dont think you even need to remove them? On the leader they look like vines stylized to look like hair, and its barely noticible on the rest, only model where those parasites are a problem is the spite revenant with a whip

so uhhhhh......what exactly do freeguild.....do?

im looking at them because i've been kind of interested in the models, but looking at their warscrolls and army traits and shit, its a whoooooole lotta 4+ 4+ - 1D with like kind of not a lot of impressive buffs or synergies, the wizards dont seem to do much in the way of support, a TON of +1 to hit bonuses that dont stack.

im struggling to actually find an angle here as to how they play, is it just weight of dice and cheap dudes? they dont seem to have anything going for them in the way of gameplay gimmicks or tricks. i feel like im missing something. specifically talking about the humans here, not the elfs or dwarfs

>>93667200
My first game against someone who, unlike me, haven't even read the rules before took about an hour
>>
So, are two army kits that will be released during the 4th edition will focus on spearhead as well?
By that I mean, are they going to contain spearhead board/terrain/cards
>>
>>93671153
You have weapon hands, heads, and claw hands, there are weapons and claws for both right and left arms. Any of them can go on either arm except for the flamer. The heads are either helmet or unhelmeted. They look pretty samey still even if you try to not repeat parts on the same pose, they have that moved the skeleton a little bit in cad thing going, but they're passable if you use the paint job to add more variety and don't just use the same brown fur and green armor or whatever. You could probably get away with 12.
>>
>>93672607
>not a lot of impressive buffs or synergies
They likely have the most and best buffs in the game right now. They shoot and crush stuff with cavaliers/drakespawn knights and hammerers.
>>
>>93672991
Maybe? You know as much as we do pendejo
>>
>>93673195
Since underworlds and warcry are planned for canning, it would make sense for them to focus on pushing spearhead
Especially considering it both works as standalone game and can lead people into getting a 2k army
>>
>>93673205

Underworlds probably. I doubt Warcry would be getting cut especially with the new stuff on the horizon.
>>
>>93673205
Seems like they're keeping warcry around as a medium to release small supplemental forces for aos much like they do with kill team and 40k. Underworlds is definitely being taken out back tho as it seems like the stuff gw has the most problems sourcing is printed paper materials
>>
no one knows how much money this shit makes, underworlds could still be very profitable for all we know. If they saw a 3x surge in start collecting box sales then they'll sure as shit release more spearhead crap.
>>
>>93673219
I haven't seen or heard of anyone playing a game of underworlds in like 4 years anon. Shit has definitely gone the way of the buffalo
>>
>>93670789
Not by itself
It could count as a magical locus though
>>
Spearhead is very quickly becoming the EDH/Commander of AoS. By which I mean the alternative game mode that is almost as popular as the main game. It's longevity probably depends on how much support it gets, but it already fills the light skirmish game feeling pretty darn well. I wonder if it competes directly with Warcry for play numbers?

Yeah I'm not feeling optimistic about this.
>>
>>93673365
Warcry is dead so I imagine so.
No starter with a rulebook hurt the game, punishing AoS players who buy warcry teams moreso.
>>
>>93673365
I'm fairly certain it does. Compared to warcry it doesn't require a lot of terrain and spearhead armies consist of several units, all usable in main game, compared to warcry only giving you one unit with often questionable usability
>>
I wish leadbelchers weren't such a terrible unit
Literally make them 12"/3/4+/2+/-2/D3
>>
>>93673402

>>
>>93673440
that would be the best shooting profile in the game.
>>

>these guys are not great
>give them the best possible profile please

ogre players are fucking retards, and those fattiest being that fast is fucking bullshit enough you cock suck
>>
>>93673468
I guess rend could be reduced by -1
Otherwise I don't see how it would be the best ranged profile
In my experience with 4th edition, archer units that throw 20-30 attacks with -1 rend melt anything that has save +4 and above
Also, lots of armies have abilities to reduce hit/wound rolls or outright deny shooting like idk
I don't see how ogres can't have something fun
>>
>>93672397
That poster is obviously being sarcastic.
>>
>>93673661
It's some weird Cargo Cult thing where everyone acts scared of Leadbelchers becoming usable when in the real world they've been absolute garbage for the entire lifespan of AoS. The only thing they've ever had going for them is sometimes their price dipping so low that they were worth using as chaff.
>>
leadbelcher are perfectly fine
>>
>>93673661
>Otherwise I don't see how it would be the best ranged profile
because math, it does over 20 damage with aoa, they'd have to cost 300 for 4. With priority target reinforced they'd shoot+covering fire and just blow anything off the board.
>>
>>93673695
they really should have shoot in combat by default and Blackpowder Fanatics should be a once per game +1 to hit and/or +1 damage for all ranged attacks, as they ritualistically delve into their supply of the best blackpowder
>>
>>93673757
they just need damage 2 that's it.
>>
I'm looking for the new battleplans, can anyone help me ? Additionally I'd be interested in the new ptg rules but that's just bonus

So what are we thinking? Will armies without their own endless spells this edition or is that over?
>>
>>93673869
Probably over. Endless spells flopped in 2nd edition, had little use in 3rd and already frustrating to deal with in 4th
>>
Will Fyreslayers get a stormcast treatment someday? Will the 1st edition sculpts be replaced with something akin to 3rd edition?
>>
>>93673863
you're not getting a full shooting profile on a hybrid melee unit chum, sorry about your luck.
>>
>>93673902
we cannot possibly know at the moment, but there's a somewhat reliable trend in having hero models at the end of an edition to either close a wave of releases for that faction or herald an incoming one, and they got eggman in dawnbringer, plus the cliffhanger with their allegedly important character.
