My issues with this upcoming novel.
1-Orks are not that interesting as antagonists they are the most throwaway of factions.
2-It's a standalone story set on a nowhere planet rather than part of the metastory. They should have written a novel about his current involvement with the Tyranids
>>
>>93926686

I'm still shocked by how they had the opportunity to introduce leontus as replacement of a lord solar that got assassinated by the norn emissary's first appearance in the fluff and instead they decided to have the norn emissary fail an assassination attempt on him with no info at all on the previous lord solar.
>>
>>93926813

>Cypher
Characters whose entire point is to be an enigma that does mercenary does what he himself wants to do, you don't know what his end goal is. Is it for Chaos? For the Imperium? For himself?
Who knows.
>Lelith
Literally a Dark Eldar, a race of people who are known for being most depraved fuckwits in the galaxy.
>Huron
Literally a leading CHAOS lord of his own chaos marine warband the Red Corsairs.

There's a good reason why all of these characters are portrayed the way they are.

Yeah, I started almost 20 years ago when I was about 9 or 10. I've had many breaks from the hobby but I still kept up with major developments and read a book here and there. Dante was one of my first models. I've repainted this piece of pewter many times.
>>
>>93927076
I get that but is it hard for Lord Solar Leontus to be the guy in charge after the last lord solar is killed? Inhereting his horse, and him standing on ruins on his model is the moment he climbed onto the horse atop the rubble created in the explosions to kill the norn emissary. Like the model is THE moment he makes himself Lord solar. If I was 40k I'd have one of the arms of the last lord solar severed and still clinging to the reins of the horse
>>

>>
>>93927032
>I can only assume this wasn't down to not dampen the deux ex machina of the Custodes coming to the rescue
If I have to guess, it was timing more than anything.

They had arranged the release of lord solar leontus months before the release of 10th edition, so they would have had to either delay the release of the imperial guard models, spoil the arrival of the tyranids by mentioning the assassination of the previous lord solar, or don't mention how lord solar got into the role or when until further notice.

Technically it was doable, especially if they did the latter, they could also have kept the golden boys' spotlight by having them stop a successive assassination on the brand new lord solar, but GW's release schedule is so packed and seemingly reshuffled at times that I think they have very little ways of coordinating shit unless it's some campaign books series like ark of omen.
>>
>>93926959
No. Eldar are a WAACfag army and anyone pretending otherwise is either coping or in denial. GW specifically tries to make them unlikeable so that you know to avoid Eldar players, bevauze they're not going to be fun to go against.
>>
>>93927028
yeah I've been involved in it one way or the other for like 20 years now. I first painted a mini when I was a young teen but my parents moved and I lost contact with the guys that got me into it so I stopped. Stayed a secondary for a while with dawn of war and some occasional lore reading. Painted a couple kits when I was in university, regressed back into a secondary and now that I have some spare income I got into it pretty seriously 2 years ago. I have not played a single game in my life, I only enjoy painting the minis[/spoiler[

I dont, sorry. He's been caked in shining cold and dipped in ogryn flesh, painted in dark flesh and overbrushed with blood red, dipped in ultramarines blue and ice blue, primed black and drybrushed in boltgun metal followed by a series of test of the first range of citadel washes, painted with thicc craft paints and many more paintjobs beyond this. Poor Dante has been through a lot.

No, that would be anything involving primarchs. Eldar are for people who like high mobility and the ability to have multiple paint schemes within a single army via aspect warriors, as well as anyone who religiously masturbates to Jes Goodwin's designs (including Jes)

Something to try out painting, and can play out of the box. Seems like a franchise I would enjoy overall but I don’t want financially over commit to a faction I might not like the play style to. I’ve been deep in the lore for a while but was too cautious about getting into another tabletop hobby and Space Marine 2 tipped it over the edge.

Does this look okay for 1000 points? I had Celestine already and now want to start a 40k army around her. I think I have a grasp on their codex but no ideas on practicality. I wanted a lot of resurrection but I don't know if the units will even live long enough for the sisters and zephyim to be revived. admech is such a letdown man. being a lorelet and casual fan, i assumed admech/mars had all this insane tech and dangerous weapons, that they'd have really strong units with high armor, and be able to wield heavy weapons since they're all cyborgs with robot arms, highly specialized for specific tasks, but instead its just a bunch of steampunk losers in their dune-inspired aircraft. The mechs are ok, i can appreciate the russian cold war era robot man, and the kataphon destroyers or whatever they're called are neat, and cawl is such a cool model, i just wish the rest of their army wasn't so lame.

Is there any trope in romantasy womens smut that isn't embodied by the dark eldar? The bar is so low any basic character arc would be seen as genius
>Deldar archon trueborn heir is super grim and serious and has he gets to know the psyker mc girl he lightens up and becomes more cheerful
>Gets Scourge surgery to fly her around and he often has to defend her from the predations of other deldar, male and female
>all to the background of him feeding off her sexual energy and pain, she physically suffers for him, he politically suffers for her in his kabal politics
>His own father and mother, his Kabal and all his friends reject him and everyone in the dark city wants him dead for bringing a psyker into the city
>He's smiling and grinning through it all and his life is saved when he gets recruited by the Harlequins

As an example:

Admech collector with 3500 points of models here

Is it the new combat patrol? Or the old one? The new one has pteraxii and serberys (dog-cavalry and winged jetpack dudes), the old one has a Dunecrawler (crab tank) and kataphrons (tank tread guys). Which one it is will change things a bit, as well what you're hoping to get out of the box.

The old one is better for getting started with good variety of unit roles, with a tank, an infantry squad, a heavy infantry squad, and an engineer (not a great leader, but you'll want at least one and you can run him as a technoarchaeologist). Kataphrons are good right now, as is the Dunecrawler. You can't go wrong with the old combat patrol.

The new one is notorious for having a shockingly low amount of points worth of models in it. Infantry, light cavalry, and the fliers don't add up to a well-rounded force, though they do get you a lot of mobility. THAT BEING SAID: If you're really interested in starting an Admech collection and are treating this box as simply an entry point and want to paint those models: the box contains models that you'll want some of eventually. Pteraxii are our only jump pack troops, and are a good tool for accomplishing sneaky objectives. Serberys are good for messing with the opponents movement around the board. And the Manipulus is one of our 2 big tech priests, you'll eventually want at least 1.

In either case: combat patrol is a ok game mode for learning the core rules and getting used to the way movement works, the way attacks are resolved, etc. but the combat patrol boxes aren't well balanced against one another. The new admech box has no solution to fighting something like a tank, as it lacks any big guns to deal with them. The old one has its own issues. But both combat patrols come in under 500pts, and like >>93927768 said, you're better off playing 500pt games, so you could buy either and add add some other stuff to grow to that.

Hope this was helpful.

It's supposed to look like the trim you see on Knights and titans.
Many of them have those spiky extensions in the trim that goes over the armor plate.

But yes, it does look like chaos trim.
In general, scions were a mistake. They were GW's attempt to primaris-fy guard, but it never worked.

Conceptually its fine its just GW being fucking morons about any sort of scale and undermining themselves from the outset.

A PLANETS worth of tithe for ammunition is 5 small cargo ships? Whose capacity combined is less than a modern C17? A joke. I struggle to give a shit.

and before some tardlet defends it as simply being a small part of the overall effort that would even justify the travel of a large warp travel capable Cruiser, the Sergeant in charge of the mission (lol) is clearly reporting the overall effort at the end.
>>
>>93928414
>why does gw hate kitbashers so fucking much bros
I think it is the execs that hate kitbashers. Mostly because if the models are designed with anything modular in mind then it means that third party resin companies are going to produce third party model bits for conversion purposes and that offends the top brass at GW.

>LGS has warhammer night on a thursday night
>has the space for 4 full boards, and 2 smaller boards for other stuff
>but now the 40k night is over capacity and is struggling to try and get a game for everyone
>no one else can sit down at a table to do anything else (e.g look at phone while waiting) because the table has been repurposed as a 40k board to fit more games in
>everyone is ONLY playing 10th ed 40k
>and its all 2000pts so needs the big boards
>nobody wants to do 2v2s of 1000pts each player
>nobody is really interested in playing any game BUT 40k

whats the solution here?
i've suggested having the small boards be combat patrol only or for the small boards to be specialisy games only to drum up interest but countered with "oh but people want to come down and use their collection and shouldnt be forced to play a different game"

If you assume the commissar standing on the foot is 1.8m tall, this would be 55m tall. Probably a little more, considering the perspective. Of course it's hard to say where you're suppose to measure, as even the Imperator has a few variants with different style structures on top. Is it suppose to be 55 to the top of the highest peak or just to the carapace without all the structures counted in?

by dividing larger boards into smaller boards, you get more smaller (i.e faster) games in and more boards to play on

4 large boards and 2 small boards
thats 12 players

divide one large board into 2 small boards, and 1 small board into 2 micro boards (i.e kill team, bloob bowl, underworlds etc) gives you 3 large boards, 2 small boards and 2 microboards for 14 players
as the smaller games are faster (e.g combat patrol 40k) it means anyone who is waiting still gets a game in for the night
>>
I just bought some Support Weapons for my Eldar list

Ridiculous imperial bureaucracy would still be a defining theme, had the ending not been the waste of 2 fucking crates worth of ammo. Who cares about that?

Now, if they had done that but simply because they didn't have room, destroyed a significant number of them? Dooming an amount of guardsmen worth giving a shit about? Oh suddenly the stakes are worth caring about. The whole setting is about vast, incalculable waste and destruction. 2 crates though? oh my fucking glob

If GW made Who Wants to be a Millionaire the grand prize would be a fucking fiver and we'd be expected to care.

Sure there’s were probably a few of those after the heresy and WootB. But they’d be long dead by m41. Either purged in the scouring or getting killed by Xenos horrors.

I really like the hazard stripes. I recently came in to possession of some old-school chaos space marines and I wanted to paint them in the colours of chaos undivided, but not as if they belonged to a specific chaos legion. I think I will incorporate hazard stripes, but not the metallic colour scheme.

Why are Space Marines so fucking cool?
>>
>>93929539
Warp travel is pretty fucky, I'm sure there's been a few cases of marines emerging only to find that 10,000 years have passed and their legion brothers are all massive dickheads.

Mekshops are fairly common, though frequently the workers will take breaks to beat the hell out of each other's.

If the guy in charge of accepting blackshields judges you worthy you go in, doesn't matter your origin.
>>
>>93929501
It was more common during the Heresy era.
I could see some former traitor legion members becoming blackshields in modern Deathwatch out of shame for themselves seeing what their chapters/legions have become.

But they must be very "fresh" traitor marines, ie. no mutations or chaos blessings and whatever.
And even after it I'd imagine they would be heavily monitored by the Deathwatch chaplains and librarians for any signs of corruption or relapses to traitorous behaviour.

If they’re a new recruit they already know the deal. You don’t get secretly turned into a chaos marine. You gotta earn that shit, often by killing everyone ahead of you.

They'd never be accepted, just killed on sight. Anyone even somewhat related to the traitor legions gets wiped out.

Istvan pretty much purged anyone with even the slightest loyal predilections so there arent any "Loyalist" traitor legionnaires anymore. The ones that did break from the fold did so 10k years ago and joined the proto-deathwatch/grey knights. All dead now. The legionnaires in the 41st millennium are so corrupt straight from induction that they'd never go to the Imperium as they're drawn from Chaos held worlds and indoctrinated, or straight up grown in a vat all hopped up on their indoctrination by Fabulous Bill.

>High Lords realize the Imperium is screwed unless they can find some new ace in the hole
>don't talk about raising new armies, founding new marine chapters, rescinding the Decree Passive, etc.
>only idea being floated is letting Custodes leave Terra
>everyone agrees the military usefulness of doing this would be next to nil
>only reason they're discussing it is because a few of them think it would be a morale boost for non-Custodes if some Custodes popped in to say hi
On the one hand I don't like that the High Lords are shown trying to seriously address the real issues as only they can. On the other hand I like that they spend all their time debating non-solutions they themselves don't even believe in but will make for good photo ops. But on the other other hand, I don't like that the narrative still insists that they are competent and not goofy.

But bearing in mind that Guilliman raised six billion crusade fleets, give or take, within fifteen minutes of setting foot on Terra, their whole debate seems even stupider since evidently they had fuckloads of resources left to tap.

At GW?
No one fucking knows at this point.
Could be something as mundane as them just taking a break from 40k to focus on other shit.
Or could be they have some major problems at the company for whatever reason.

Whatever the reason truely is, no one knows besides GW themselves.

DG have one. WE should get one. I wouldn't be surprised if EC have one when they inevitably get added.
>>
>>93929692
>We should get chaos apothecaries besides Bile.
Not really.
CSM literally have no use for them mostly.

There's one story with a CSM apothecary that was going around on the battlefield gathering geneseed from the dead and not so dead CSM.
When he pulls out of the progenoid glands the fucking thing just mutates jaws and teeth and jumps at the apothecary, with him just pulling out his pistol and shooting it dead.
After which he grumbles on about how the geneseed of the traitor legions is deteriorating and becoming unusable due to all of the Warp corruption and other mutations they all suffer from.

This is the reason why CSM are always raiding loyalist marine geneseed stores and the like.
Original CSM, like WE, DG, EC, etc. are a dying breed and are going extinct.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if GW revealed that one of the traitor legions was extinct. But I know it wont happen because that'd just piss of the fans of the said legion.
>>
>>93929229

I've only just started working on including lighting/shading that's not agrax earthshade or the refreshing nuln oil. I agree its probably the weakest point of the model, but I'm still working out how to making it stand out/brighter that doesnt include watching a YT video explaining it step by step. I want to figure it out for myself and make my own style instead of mimicking someone elses. Here's one I finished a few days ago playing with lighting and shadow using glazes.

i thank god every day for sending that flood. water damage shattered the illusion of value around those cheap paper cards, im so glad i got out of mtg. you can water damage a mini and just wash it off if it was well varnished or strip it and start over with fresh paint at worst.
>>
>>93930083
Yeah we should. Biles consortium is full of cool apothecaries that do other things than harvest geneseed. They act more like dr frankenstien than sm apothrcaries tho, making flesh monsters and such.
>>
>>93929708
If you have two hands, at least one eye, attention to detail and a little fine motor control, you can cram out passable models on your first couple paintjobs using the right tools & techniques
>>
>>93929595
That's part of it. Also speed freek models hit like a wet noodle and die easy. And pariah nexus means having assault doesn't let you perform actions. And the huge base sizes means you can't hide, and you're getting in your own way. And there's not good synergy with the army rule. I could go on

It's not an argument; I'm just insulting you for thinking that the purpose of an apothecary can only ever be recovering gene-seed from allied marines.
>>
>>93930083
The original legions just get vat grown shit from Bill or outright use stolen geneseed a la Honsou being from Imperial Fist geneseed. The Legions care very little about purity of geneseed expression since they're all further changed by their respective worship or culture. Word Bearers will take literally anything or grow simulacra gene seed with warp fuckery. Some legions dont even have gene seed in some of their legionaries and use other methods (warpcraft, super chems) to enhance their aspirants growth.
