So, is Titus now the face/main character of 40K? This is very odd.

2/3 of the playerbase lost in less than 2 weeks isn't good, especially for a live service game
>>
>>93936475
It isn't aiming to be live service
It was just released unfinished.
>>
>>93936475
You're a retard. This happens to literally every triple-A game. People hop on to try it out when it's new, then move on to other stuff. Those numbers are still alot higher than most other live-service games. Destiny 2 wishes it could pull half that many players anymore.
>>
>>93936475
It isn't a live service game, though. It's a single player game with a couple of extremely dated multiplayer modes and some modern DLC season pass garage bolted on, and publishers have been doing that for twenty years already.

Like, I know you learned a new buzzword from the Concord debacle but please at least learn what it means before you start repeating it. It doesn't mean. "any game I don't like," it is a specific subgenre of always online multiplayer games.

Helldivers is a live service game. DRG is a live service game. Overwatch is a live service game. Space Marine 2 is not.

The current all-time peak is 225,690, and as of typing this post it's got the 16th highest current player count on Steam Charts (ahead of Stardew Valley and War Thunder)
Besides which, it's a cross-platform title and has apparently just crossed 2mil sales combined between PC, Xbawks, and PS

>>93936514

200 mill, considering it spent a decade in development hell that's pretty reasonable. Especially compared to other big games like GTA 6 with an estimated budget of over a billion

Well in what is it now, 7 years? Yeah in about 7 years, GW have still completely utterly failed to "sell" Primaris as a concept to the core audience. Oh lots of people buy the models, they have little choice if they play the game and want to collect a Marine army that doesn't suck balls, but the only parts of Primaris design and fluff anyone's ever had any genuine praise for have been things that make them more like classic Marines.

SM2 is their big chance to win people over, but it'll never work because in the end the knockoff will never be as well regarded as the original - even people who weren't there to appreciate real Marines when they were the only Marines will still regard them as superior, the same way most people look back fondly on how their country used to be in decades before they were even born; most people may be *simple* but they're not *stupid*, and are capable of comparing two things and discerning which is superior.

Interesting, considering there's no such fucking thing as a "AAAA" video game.
>>
>>93936442
As a general rule the number of reviews x 25 equal the number of sales of a game on steam.
58,971 x 25 = 1,474,275
1,474,275 x 60 = 88,456,500

I wouldn't call an estimated 88.5 million in revenue a flop. And that's just the steam sales too.
I wonder how much GW will make from the licencing of this. And how much they make selling space marine models.
>>
I'll probably get the game on it's first discount, for some reason I'm willing to shill out more for a box of gaunts than a video game.

High Fructose Corn Syrup(HFCS) is a sugar dense liquid so it is easier to transport and incorporate into a production line than a powder.
Organic powders are a notorious fire and even explosion hazard
>>
>>93948191
It's more to do with corn being cheaper than dirt thanks to wildly generous government subsidies. Anything you could use corn or a corn byproduct for will be cheaper 100% of the time. Sometimes it's even cheaper than not having anything at all.

"Primaris" isn't a problem, the dogshit force org and unit org is though.

Just gimme primaris as trad tac squads, etc, and I'd have no issue.

Although to be fair they DO seem to step on the toes of decades of some pretty neat chapter lore. Girlyman has really damaged the whole point of the setting, that humanity's glory days are far behind it and even the marines are basically just fading shadows of better times.

Primaris would have been better as 30k marines.

Although irl they were just an excuse to sell new, upscaled models, which didn't require any lore rationales at all. Literally just start selling them.
It'd hardly be any more jarring than gonig from those old school monopose minis to the more dynamic pose ones for example.

Concord cost 200 million dollars. SM2 is not fucking Concord people. You know what this game would've looked like if it had had a 200 million dollar budget? It would've had 600 dollars on release. They could've modeled and sold a full cosmetic pack for every first founding/HH legion at launch, I can't even BUY a fucking Night Lords helmet.

Where do you people think the money goes? 200 million dollars would be enough to pay the entire team of Bethesda to do nothing for 20 years.

So is that game canon or not? People started to discuss it being canon but I thought it was officially not canon? Also it sounds insane that Titus wouldn't be canon now that he is by far the most famous and popular space marine even though Cato Sicarius is the de facto protagonist
>>
Why didn't Roboute Guilliman just make Cato Sicarius, the greatest ultramarine and hero of mankind who isn't Roboute Guilliman himself a chapter master of his own super-marines, the Catomarines?
>>
>>93964743
Because Cato is the strongerest but he's also the dumberest
>>
>>93964716
The SM game series is alt canon. It's very close to real canon but there is no Captain Titus in the real 40k.
>>
>>93938192
Maybe he was recruited from a fashion conscious biker gang?
>>
>>93964716
Everything is canon. In the past SM1 was in an alternate timeline where sicarius is captain of a different company. SM2 is now in the present timeline, and Titus was captain before Sicarius, which causes a few timeline issues but theyre just going to brush past those.
Also Titus is now the protagonist of 40k.

What has Cato really done? Killed one warboss (with help), jobbed to Tau, jobbed to Necrons, irrelevant against chaos in the ultramar invasions. Titus 1v1'd a daemon prince, he's easily chapter-master tier.
>>
I hope Titus and Cato end up like Batman and Robin or Obi Wan and Anakin with Titus as the mentor/former commander, their personalities would fit well
