Is Sex Magic REALLY worth 2 points? I don't think it is but the author's own test build took it, so I don't know what to think.

I've been clicking through the homestuck story for 40 pages and I understand nothing. Did I get trolled for 40 pages straight or is this really homestuck?
>>94128832Act 1 is very slow and boring, but sets up the main four characters. Once you hit the end of Act 1 things ramp up quickly.
>>94128838How many pages left? I can't take much more of this.
>>94128844*Pages left in act 1.
>>94128832What the fuck is this, lmao
>>94128844Act 1: The Note Desolation Plays is approx 247 pages. You can skim through it until you reach the Meteors.
>>94128869>247 pagesAHHHHHHHHH>You can skim through it until you reach the Meteors.Good.
>>94128883Yeah, most of the pages up until them are just building the characters, them dicking around, and explaining the mechanics of the game and setting, like how their inventories work.
>>94128899Does it actually get good?
>>94128902It gets really fucking good, sadly it is a little dated, as many of the animations previously used flash which is no longer available, so you don't get the full experience and instead get youtube videos lmao, unless you use the homestuck collection here https://homestuck.giovanh.com/unofficial-homestuck-collection/.But yeah, it has some great animations and music throughout the story, even a few flash games.
>>94128759Depends wholly on you, it's a taste thing. It's there for all coomers to enjoy with their gifts. Offering means to experiment as well, feels like it hits home with fleshcrafting as well.As you can see to me it's expensive, but i couldn't live without it. To you, skipping it might be for the best.
Vampire cyoas?
Posted in the last threadThe reason mindthread are so good is because they are some of the only echoes that boost non-magical traits that aren't just strength or minor personal fleshwarping. Intelligence and the ability to store blueprints has no bearing on your actual ability, and technology acts a crutch since you can make handheld gigasuperlasers or bioandroid super soldiers, and even magitech is fully within your grasp to emulate, as an example I keep seeing, you could absolutely make a unflinchingly loyal bioandroid like android 21 who eats magic and absorbs abilities to grow permanently in power or some shit to fight your battles for you. Other echoes like feather, shroud, horn, ash and stuff that grant magical abilities have a cap on what they can feasibly do and do not grant the same kind of utility or potential wide range of abilities. This makes hyper-specific abilities like heart and scale completely worthless, since they don't even have the magic part and only affect you physically in a cyoa where physical traits and even the magical abilities are only slightly above average at best, and far below at worst.
>>94127806It's a common atheist cope. Supposedly you'd run out of steps on the hedonic treadmill if you lived forever and you'd grow completely bored with life and want to end it all, and that's why an afterlife would be a bad deal. It falls apart because most people in any era have been okay with making a routine to fall into, especially the people who say this idea. If I can be okay with living in one way for ten years, then I can be okay with living in it for a hundred, or how many other zeros you add to it.
>>94129034That sounds retarded, why would magic be imited, but not science?
>>94129089Anon needs to sleep.>>94129034Go sleep.
>>94129089Magic relies on your own magical sources and your own power, not using intelligence to make something that relies on external power. How do you get the ability to kill more people at once with shroud? You don't, whereas this question is answered on mind by simply making a better weapon.
>>94129089In a cyoa where you yourself are weak and moat of the powers rely on you for potency, the strongest powers are the ones that allow you to overcome your shortcomings.
>>94128925Homestuck CYOA when? I miss it
>>94129210The only ones that fit are Ultimate God by Aromage and The Game by Highlander.
>>94128514>Thread Question: Do you believe humanity will survive?Yes.All the woke shit that exists in the media is subconsciously steering humanity in the opposite direction.Soon the arc of a just militaristic humanity that slowly takes over stewardship of the galaxy will begin. >>94129140>>94129151So there are no means to use external powers to boost your spells? And i keep seeing so many stargazers too, shit is boring. Quick reminder that despite what shitposters say Tok is one of the most likeable authors around. Look at EA as an example of a dislikeable author this is an incomplete list of authors who hate him:>Tok>Aromage>Cyrus>Italics>Thief>Gil>Husanon>Hyenanon And many many more. Tok looks like a saint in comparison and he's not as hated as people think just that there are a handful of shitposters jealous of him. He's not as hated as someone like Italics much less EA. Also koreans like Tok a lot and even reddit still looks for him despite their past. This is a sign of likeability and influence.

Can somebody who is less of a brainlet than me explain what Aether actually does in Power Creator Xenon? Been rereading it for thirty minutes and I still don’t understand it.
Hey Tok, if you're around, I have a question for you, actually. Revisiting Dragonfall right now.The Pocket Dimension Tier 1 spell allows you to create one portal to your pocket dimension, and creating another one collapses the first. But can you also close the portal early, and thus have no active portal to your pocket dimension? I'd like to make sure that it can't get invaded while I'm away from the portal and/or that I can use it as a completely safe and unassailable place to recover if something goes wrong.
>>94131985Tok...
>>94131999Shut the fuck up retard, not everyone who plays Tok's CYOAs is Tok and I would actually like an answer to my question.
>>94132003Tok...
>>94131985It would make sense for it to work like that. Just consider it your own headcanon, Tok is such a profound retard that he'd tell you otherwise for no reason just to be annoying.
>>94129545I agree that it’s most clear on how that combo can grow, but I don’t know if I would really say it’s the only winning combo. If you take enough techie allies, I think your individual contribution doesn’t matter quite as much. The stargazer heritage minions seem like they’d do a good job. And presumably, each heritage had some means of improving over time outside of just recruiting more strong people, though it’s not as clear what that would be. Pathfinders I guess make increasingly more fucked up deals?
>>94131985Tok revealed the answer to me in a dream. He said: Simón.Whatever that means
>>94129034>i can really make this Magic eating DBZ character Nah lol
>>94132096does he ever say anything other than RAW?
>>94132120they really treat technology like magic.>I have good iq so i can make tech>that must mean I can make anything with tech, ignoring time, logistics, that i am 1 person, how the fuck do i discover things how to make a bio android loyal decently powerful and capable of eating magicYeah, they are in for a surprise
>>94132135Simón and RAW. I think he uses Simón as a yes and RAW as a no. I have to confirm it
>>94129034bro thinks he's doctor gero, ignoring the part where gero got killed by his stronger androids
>>94132140He's got that rick and morty brainrot
>>94132120If it's a magic system, and you can experiment with it like any science, it's not too improbable to use it as fuel.If it's the kind of whimsical fey magic you can't understand, I don't think you can sci-fi your way through it. In both cases you have to think of the things >>94132140 quoted, find a way to miniaturize your discoveries enough to implement them in the biodroid (which is another project entirely), make sure the manaeater module is correctly working, doesn't overheat and explode, don't bother the rest of the biodroid. All that while you're being pursued. Science is fun, but sometimes magic is better.
Is Gateway actually bad?
>>94132179Did you like it? I've tried to read it, but couldn't get a grasp on its identity compared to Ultimate God and Children of Ski. They look and play too similar for me.
>>94132140That and it's a no-limits fallacy where anything he can imagine is a garuntt3d success
>>94132188Beyond retarded. This is nothing like ultimate god. You must be brain damaged to think so. The better thing to say is that it is just nexus all over again.
>>94132140>>94132178>ignoring time, logistics, that i am 1 person, how the fuck do i discover things how to make a bio android loyal decently powerful and capable of eating magicWhy are we acting like the rest of the cyoa doesn't exist? Time/being pursued are the only valid limits here.
>>94132206It's an impression made from cursory glances, anon.
>>94132210I still think the android 21fag will fail tho, not because what he wants is impossible but because he'll probably try to do it too early or get the Dr. Gero treatment like this guy said >>94132155
>>94132179It's alright. I like it better than most of her other cyoas
>>94132140That's actually how perfect mind idea supposed to be limited in luminary.Something that I'm explaining with more detail with Earth's companion that's a cyborg. She is a prototype supersoldier created by Kleidi with the idea of creating an army of them. But she saw that the cost benefit was too low.It took al ot of time and resources just to build one.So she eventually opted to try to find a Luminary to use the artifacts for her.You also have to take into account that most people in earth are not nearly as intelligent as you so even giving maintenance to your creations might be too much for them let alone repair them. There are many things to consider with technology.
>>94132258>Not letting me ignore the logistics of uplifting earthwhy do you hate techGODS like this?
>>94132178>>94132140>everything anon quoted is on the lower end of tech in the setting and has already been done beforeErm its not possible even though you have quantum intelligenceSorry jobber, you lost to mindthread.
>>94132285I don't I just want to have a semblance of balance in the CYOA.besides many of the drawbacks can be solved with other artifacts.Like Chu to for example build a giant factory and then create a terrestrial god to inhabit it.boom you have a fully automated factory that needs no maintenance or repairs and the god can easily reshape it to be easily updated by you in the future. He would only need some worshipers similar to 40k tech-priests.
>>94132327You're forgetting that the player is narratively meant to be a jobber, everyone can make that stuff except you because you're still not smart enough
>>94132258Or just. You know. Have simple robots give maintenance to themselves and the infrastructure too? Humans are not needed anywhere in this equation. As much as people try to cope against technology, that is all it will ever be. Cope.
>>94132258>people aren't as smart you>so you can't teach people, or god forbid, you leave instructions and a detailed blueprint on how it works and how to fix it>you also can't make maintanence drones which are easier to maintain themselves while everyone else catches up worst case>all of this is assuming your android is somehow so indecipherable that even with bith of these the hyperautists cant understand them stillTechchads only lose if you have no creativity.
>>94129942>hate himI don't hate Tok. I just don't care for him, I wouldn't wish him harm or anything since that would be wrong since he never harmed me. But I just don't care about him or what he does.
>>94132384This is even forgetting that we already, in real life, can automate so much stuff. In reality, all you need is a better AI and then you can automate everything.
>>94132380As far as the cyoa goes we're only behind the actual peak sophons and egregores in raw intelligence. Anons like them haven't read the cyoa nor the other two and so don't realize shit like continent superweapons and space habitats are low tech. Or that exactly what i've said about the bioandroid has been done already. Mindthread ia indisputably the ruler of the cyoa, nothing else comes close.
>>94132384>so you can't teach peopleWell it is a bit of a spoiler but there is a way for you to teach others how to use powers you have mastered. As I said there are ways to deal with the logistics. But you are still ignoring the material limitations. That's a huge deal.
>>94132409I know bro, I'm just joking around >>94132416>there is a way for you to teach others how to use powers you have masteredtech route just got so much better
But why do you need this super robot solider that is not cost efficient to make? Is this robot blowing up a city with a single punch or something? else, it does not matter. This is like in ww1 and ww2, retards bringing up old tactics thinking times have not changed. Similar to the war nowadays with expensive tanks being 1 shoted by the 35 dollar walmart drone from a civvie that just learned to fly it 5 minutes ago.
>>94132381>Or just. You know. Have simple robots give maintenance to themselves and the infrastructure too? those "simple" robots are already more complex than any technology we have nowadays. And you are ignoring, again, the time to make them, resources, trial and error, discovering things. We don't cope against technology, but some retards think technology advance is like fucking Doraemon thinking in this century we would have time machines, flying carpets etc... Technology advances by baby steps the great majority of time. Also, if Husanon says an android supersoldier is already not worth in the setting, you thinking "then do simple (thta are already very complex) machines" fails to see the point
>>94132430It's 40k and really most every Ci-fi setting logic my friend.
>>94132434So what, retard? There is already space civilizations and you are telling me the setting does not have this technology? are you stupid?
>>94132434>an android supersoldier is already not worth in the settingmaking an army of them isn't worth it
>>94132447See >>94132258>>94132449>But she saw that the cost benefit was too low.It took al ot of time and resources just to build one.
>>94132430>But why do you need this super robot solider that is not cost efficient to make?because it's coolmost anons will come up with a thousand cope reasons for it but most anons go by rule of cool instead of logic
In luminary it may not be feasible to actually be doing supertech right away, because even though you're really smart, that's it, you're just really smart and you're one person. In gateway you literally have a super-boosted supercomputer that can do quantum calculations millions of times at once and can store blueprints of objects just by touching them and shit while having nanites that can create them from nothing if you have white-gold heart. There's a wide margin between the two.
>>94132459The fact that an android super solider is something that can exist already tells you how advanced AI is in the setting. You do not need to put the AI on a stupid android body. Just have that AI control drones which are cheap to make. We already do this in real life.
>>94132472>Cyborg meaning a human enhanced with tech.
>>94132467The rest of the cyoa also has you get started on empire-building to make up for being a weak bitch so you're not just one person anymore.
>>94132258>It took al ot of time and resources just to build one.How much time are we talking here? A year? Ten? The average smartphone takes about 9-12 months to make. Damn near anything can become time efficient and worth it if you just apply it in economies of scale. And what resources are you talking about? Even now in the modern era our latest technology still doesn't take anything absurd like unobtainium nanocrystals to make. NVIDIA's latest AI chips are still made out of roughly the same shit their 2010 chips were made out of, the motors of today that are far smaller, more efficient, and more powerful than the motors of 1920 don't use exotic helium-3 to accomplish that, etc.Always felt that "resources" was a nonsensical cope when it came to technology.
Is Italics really hated here?

>>94132498No.
>>94132485>Always felt that "resources" was a nonsensical cope when it came to technology.just means fantasy sci-fi tech needs fantasy sci-fi material to do its fantasy sci-fi shit, common way to balance tech in settings. you dont want gravitational beam emitters to be common or everything goes to shit
>>94132501>SHITALICS-SAMA DON'T DELAY LUMIN-ACK!
>>94132472>You do not need to put the AI on a stupid android body. Just have that AI control drones which are cheap to makeCheaper to make, how much cheaper? it could still be not worth it. And aesthetics is probably the thing that cost less in the whole android, you could barely make it cheaper making it still not worth it.like>Making titanium bottles to store water is too costly!>Just don't make bottle caps and its cheaper lol>Great! now instead of 100000000000000000, it now cost only 99999999999999900!> already tells you how advanced AI is in the settinghow advanced can it be, the cost and time of creating one didnt cross your mind?

>>94132510>you could barely make it cheaper making it still not worth it.What is this stupid reply. Making a human body that can move like a human can would be incredibly costly. Specially when the drones only need the specific parts to only do their specific job. Hell, many of the infrastructure on earth can already be controlled by an AI.>Great! now instead of 100000000000000000, it now cost only 99999999999999900!Strawman>how advanced can it be, the cost and time of creating one didn't cross your mind? You only need a few AIs to control all production. Isn't that the same with literally all new radically different technology? Phones were difficult and expensive to make (with the first cell phone in 1983 having a price of $3,995), now you can get a smartphone for under a $100. Seems like Kleidi wasn't willing to bear the R&D cost required to make cyborgs a staple of her army. I'd also argue that with some critical automation technologies this problem wouldn't exist but ehAnd doesn't Chu kind of trivialize some of these? Terrestrial spirits lets you make machines that operate themselves with no AI or maintenance required. They don't even need to be particularly advanced, you could turn a life-sized doll into a useful worker, much less some specialized robot created for a specific task. Gateway is pretty much the epitome cyoa at this point that asks the question:Do you want to have cool powers, or do you want to pick the options that actually allow you have a semblance of strength? Aesthetics vs power is such a painful choice.
>>94132842>Seems like Kleidi wasn't willing to bear the R&D cost required to make cyborgs a staple of her army.Correct, she saw it as not cost effective as her main plan.So she went to extplore other possibilities and one of them worked (You) she has potentially gained a game changing advantage with considerably less investment. She is curently in quite the desperate situation. That she hopes you can help her with with a mutually benefitial agreement.>And doesn't Chu kind of trivialize some of these? Many powers were created to be used in tandem with others to be synergistic.>Would Master Craftsman even see something like engineering as a "craft" anyways? The rule of tumb is that if you are forging or building the thing yourself it counts, like Tony Stark building his suits.

>>94132973>>94132974I don't even know how you would fix it desu.
>>94132974This is why I only play Living God. Every other CYOA would require me to be weaker than it, so there is no point.
>>94132990The problem is being capable of creating stuff from nothing.
>Living god out of nowhereObsessed
>>94132990Spelling out how the other heritages kept up with the stargazers probably. If they didn’t have their own (faction level) growth mechanics, they’d have been btfo by the stargazers once they advanced their tech sufficiently.
>>94132990>>94133002No the real problem is that most of the powers like horn, feather, shroud, etc give you magic abilities and nothing else, whereas mind, thread and divine all give you mental boosts. Magic doesn't matter when you're weaker than most of the companions, all that matters is what you can play to your strengths, of which most echoes cannot do.
>>94132990The problem is personal strength. Since aro wanted you to be weak. That means that things that personally boost you are a waste. It is that simple.
>>94133028That only personally boost you, I mean. It also makes the gift section a section for your allies rather than for you and I don't think that was the intent.
>>94133018They do have their own growth and stuff, and for the most part they could also have super-intelligence. and whatever. It literally is, normal planeswalkers are playing nexus while we're playing gateway, which doesn't have a lot of the freedom and stuff that nexus has. I like the companions (Well, really I just like the daughters of light and the dragons) but gateway is just a nexus that forces you to get non-planeswalker companions instead of railroad you into getting planeswalkers you don't care about.
>>94133039That's another true part yea, stuff like the giants gauntlets I considered integrating into power armor for a companion or something since like, wtf am I gonna do with it?
>>94133046Basically this. The companions being so much better than you means it is better to focus on making them even stronger by giving them all the boosts, items, magic, tech, etc... This translates to the whole cyoa being more of a 'be the support' cyoa. Specially since you are paying legions to work for you by giving them resources and help them with their expansion. Key word being 'their' not yours.
>>94132978If that is the payment I may have treated Kleidi too harshly...
>>94133039My take on Gateway is that it is primarily a faction builder CYOA, and the personal powers are really only there so you can leave your safe haven to explore.
>>94132978>>94133082She is a minor...
>>94133091I agree with this. Even when you go out, you will be accompanied and in safe zones if you are smart so not even that. Personal powers are only so that you don't die by tripping on some stairs or similar type of accidents.

>>94133119
>>94133040I don’t mean “how did the individuals grow”. I mean, how did the Wanderers keep up with the Stargazers (for example). Technology is a faction-wide boost to their power. Did the wanderers just keep working out to get more buff and just hoped their top dogs never died? Or did they develop new magic to make sure all the new wanderers got a bigger and bigger head start? If it’s the latter, the same idea should apply in Gateway
>>94133128>I mean, how did the Wanderers keep up with the Stargazers (for example).Plot magic. You aren't supposed to think about these things too deeply; the author sure as hell didn't. It's like asking how the Institute doesn't wipe the floor with the Brotherhood of Steel.
Realistically. In gateway you are the president. You do zero fighting and only go out for some important meetings and even then, you are guarded by your special forces and is in an area that was secured beforehand. You will probably not even be the one making new stuff besides ways to transport between planes. Just a bunch of bureaucracy. Thankfully, we can all imagine something less boring.

>>94133119repost>SatietySeems like a good starter boon, especially for what it morphs into later on, but it doesn't immediately help with my first challenge.>GoblinThis can easily go bad but I'm an adult and the goblin is only as strong as a pre-adolescent child. I can get stabbed but as long as it's disarmed and killed before I bleed out I'll win the challenge and get healed. That machete is too good to pass up, it makes my lack of strength much less of an issue.>Assault (Healing)Satiety once again won't help here much but armed with the machete no armor or shield can meaningfully stand up to me thanks to it's sharpness and I'm sure I can get in at least one surprise kill thanks to that. Picking up a shield or something would be nice, but as long as I can kill 4 guys I pass the test. Completion will unlock the true power of Satiety, Healing is OP as fuck and will undoubtedly be useful in the future.>MineIt seems like this one was made for people with Satiety. No mention of anything else in the mine with you, so the main challenge here is probably not going mad from being stuck in a lightless mine for a week. Which is doable... probably. Walk in one direction, talk to myself, and hope to the gods the seemingly infinite tunnel doesn't have Amigara Fault-type shit in it.>Greed (Upgraded)I was tempted to get Wisdom's upgraded insight but two extra boons is too tempting to pass up. Going to do the Zombies challenge and use my machete + healing + satiety to kill as many as possible while taking minimal breaks. Machete slices through bone, concrete, and steel like butter, some decayed zombies shouldn't be difficult at all to kill in large numbers, especially in a month-long time frame. Every 500 kills is an extra +100% of my current strength, 5000 kills is +1050%, which can bring me from average to strongest human in the world, and beyond that is superhuman territory. Can't really say how strong I would get after this, but 5000 kills is only 167 kills a day.
>>94133147Aren't you allowed to play Gateway however you please, like any other CYOA?
>>94133147Eh, that’s why I think Shroud of Night and Eyes of Reality are mandatory takes for my builds. I want to be able to go explore the multiverse however I want, and those are two of the best anti-gank tools available.
>>94133183Second boon will be the sword technique, combat experience, and general wisdom of Lord Damian. Now a machete isn't a sword but I imagine an actual swordmaster could use a machete better than I can, and having experience and wisdom like that could potentially save my life in the future.>Goblin Village (Forcefield)Armed with superhuman strength, a machete that can cut through damn near anything, fairly fast healing powers, and extensive years of combat experience, taking on even 600 goblins shouldn't be impossible. Just rip and tear until it's done. The forcefield should greatly increase survival chances and turn otherwise fatal blows into something survivable, allowing me to be a decent bit more reckless in combat.>Josephine, Lee Ho JaeJosephine is a no-brainer, that handgun of hers is near-unstoppable and can be a potent weapon against the dragon, and being able to teleport brings her survivability up a few notches. She even has a potent one-time superweapon, maybe we could drop it in the dragon's mouth or a wound in its head or something.Lee Ho Jae... uh, I guess he would be useful against the dragon too. Can use his superhuman speed to dodge and his spear to deal damage if the damn thing is ever grounded. Together we can probably overcome this foe.Not interested in trading any boons or equipment. I'll see how far the stuff I already have gets me on the other side.
