For all art, stories, queries and conversations relating to Rifts, Palladium Fantasy, Heroes Unlimited, or any of the other "minor league" titles like Dead Reign, Splicers, Beyond the Supernatural, etc... hey, the last one went alright, so why not another?

Some questions to get us started:
>How do we make combat magic more viable? Would dropping the P.P.E. cost down by a factor of 10 make attack spells better? Seriously, fuck Kevin's insistence that mages should only be good for puzzles and not combat.
>Does anyone know what the hell pic-rel is? It shows up in D-Bees of North America as a Zenith Moon Warper, but I'm sure it appears in other books too...

Okay guys, I want to take a robot dog from New West, & give it a TW Golem Heart, a Transformation Circuit & TW power source from Rifter 84. What's the coolest/most useful vehicle I could turn the fella into? I already plan on making it a sentry gun robot body too so I can have a cool little puppy sidekick follow me into town without too much suspicion that can morph into a mini-missle packing gun implacement. But I also want him to turn into a vehicle for quick escapes.

Just looking at the "Rifts Ultimate Edition" corebook: is there any difference between the Shifter presented in this book and the one presented in the Megaverse Builder, apart from the fact the Megaverse Builder version can make a pact with a greater elemental and the Rifts Ultimate version can't?

Do True Atlanteans have gods? Do any D-Bee or alien? All I can find are the classical earth pantheons & Palladium's pseudo Egyptians & racial pantheons. Plus Aco.

My current character is a literal normal human. An Astronaut who was locked in a stasis pod. Now he's trapped in what was North America. Not gonna lie, he's underpowered compared to the rest of the party who're just a bunch of uppity D-Bees but that's alright. Isaac Clarke had to level up too.

"Where is everyone?" Batty wondered as he looked around the empty space port. The windows were broken, and the buildings covered with so much dust and grimme it barely resembled what was Atrotech's most cutting-edge installation.

"I don't know," Smith answered, "I can't reach anyone. Anywhere. Mission control, the international space line, even RES isn't picking up- so much for their emergency line. I can't even reach my wife for God's sake, and she's in orbit!" The Comm's officer tried every emergency line on earth, and there was nothing but static. Static that was cut off by something that sounded like a scream.

"Stay focused gentlemen," Roy ordered. The captain turned and watched Clarke saw down the double iron plated door with his torch. Clarke was almost done, and Roy needed his men alert. Something was wrong, very wrong. They only went into outer orbit for four hours for some routine maintenance on an old relic from the 20th. While most satellites from the now long defunct American Republic were decommissioned as apart of the UEG's unification accords, radio beacons were kept around by radiological archaeology enthusiasts who used them to transmission old tunes.

Pirate radio never died, Roy had chuckled. "Alright," Clarke reached the base of the door, "It's done." He stuck in a jack and tried to pry it open. Roy quickly supported him, and the metal plates screeched as loose bits of rusted debris cracked from the ledges.

"Goddamn it, this bitch won't give!" Clarked snarled as Batty and Smith joined in.

"GRAAAH!" They snarled as the door finally tore open. "Finally," Batty snarled. "Guess we-" They were dead, all of them. Every astronaut, every single ATC, security agent, technician... Even the suits were dead. And, the men quickly realized as they wandered into what was mission control, they were long since passed. This wasn't a spaceport anymore, it was a mausoleum.

Then they heard something roar in the dark.

What do we think of Rifts Australia? How would you rework it as a concept?

Me, I'm surprised that Palladium didn't use it as an excuse to port over the Pleasure Bunnies from After the Bomb 2e and/or add some kind of sexy fox furry race - Australia *does* have a long history with those animals being pests...

>>94252152
Rifts has never really been much of a pantheon builder, not like how D&D was obsessed with giving us lots of different gods and pantheons. Religion is only ever mentioned in passing, and if you want deities outside of the ones from Pantheons of the Megaverse or Palladium Fantasy's Gods & Dragons, then you pretty much have to come up with them yourself.
>>
>>94253036
I remember the Demons or whatever hiding Earth from the Chinese pantheon so I wouldn't be surprised if that was very much the case world over. The implications are pretty bleak. I wouldn't be surprised if all souls went to one of the numerous hells.

I really do wonder at the logic behind whoever wrote D-Bees of North America. You have what is basically the Rifts equivalent of a Player's Handbook-type book of nonhuman PC options... so WHY would you include near-mindless "mostly suitable as enemy" type races like the Deer Horn Tribesmen or the Crab Warriors?

Found a crazier way of stacking damage than a Boomgun with a bunch of tech & Alchemy.

The Laser Mage has a spell to amplify damage by x10 & fuck with light frequency. So we can take an Arkhon tri-beam tech, mix in some spacecraft level HI-Lasers & the same alchemist upgrades like double damage to Evil.

So you can take something like a 2d6x100 damage cannon, add the laser upgrade for x10, & the tribeam tech for x2. Let's not forget double damage to evil.

That'd be 2d6x4000. Still looking at tinkering on it, if anyone have some cool laser weapons to recommend I'd love it.

So, I hear magic in Rifts is actually not so good, and Kevin is in denial of how bad it is. What's wrong with it, and how could we fix it?
>>
>>94269859
Magic is... fine, but tech tends to out perform it. What people don't realize is that tech needs a ton of industry, maintenance, & money. Magic is cheap as fuck. Plus, technowizards can kludge the best tech with the best Magic & make it all run on Magic. RIFTS is largely written by scifi military nerds so they trend towards writing tech & gear cause that's what they like/know.
>>
>>94270505
Speaking as an Arcanum player, that's actually pretty cool as that's how technology interacting with magic in-setting. Going by that game's rules, Humanity has gone from an age of technology to a reborn age of magic. A character from an Arcanum lite world would genuinely reflect on the great irony of it all even as he trades gunfire with Robocrabs.
>>
>>94271033
Then you have stuff like Dominator Tech which they just tell you is so advanced it's both tech & magic & you won't even really see the line between the two

"Earth really was nice, Roy." The astronaut looked down at Earth, it's brown and sickly lime green land, with its blue oceans and their high carbon dioxide. It was beautiful, the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

"Yeah," Roy turned towards Shannon and smiled, "there's always something about seeing your home planet."

"Are we going home, Roy?" Shannon asked. "There's so much we have to do. So much work to be done."

"Yeah," Roy nodded towards the empty shuttle. "But I gotta build something first." He turned back towards the cockpit. "Gotta build something... For you." The ship moved towards the moon. Although it would take a day or two, that was fine for Roy. He had time, plenty of time, all the time in the world...

There is a whole faction in paladium fantasy that were so popular they were made into a faction in Three Galaxies. Like in PF they are also broken and can dominate most other characters in their settings.

In South America there is a city of cat people who are blessed by like three different cat gods. They have many RCCs but Kevin did the artwork so they are all incredibly ugly

>>
>>94290803
I love to kludge things like that together, its not so much that im a munchkin though i do tend to find out the most broken shit, its that i just like fiddling with different mechanics & stacking stuff together, mixing things around, etc. If you really want a nasty weapon though, get a Vemonblade Enchantment of Blood Poison XX from Rifter 12. It's a save or die poison with -4 to the saving throw. You could even theoretically put that on a ranged weapon with a lot of spread & just fuck up entire squads of dudes. Now, it's arguably one of the rarest things in the world with very few people able to interact with it, but that's what giving handies to your GM is all about.

So, the 1e Rifts corebook says something about letting mutant animals take a Rifts Psychic Character Class instead of using the "buy psychic powers with Bio-E" system from TMNT & Other Strangeness or After the Bomb, but did this ever get examined in greater depth? It's definitely a good idea, since Bio-E's psy-powers are kind of awful compared to Rifts', but the corebook itself points readers to the Rifts Conversion Book...

So, I studying vampire kingdoms. By page 15 they have beaten home that vampires are irredeemable threeways to sunday and are not the people they were.

I did like that Erin Tarn was being a cute little meddling grandma and shit went so sideways that she had to use a level 10 port the hell out and redact her own work because her pruny ass and cyberknight boytoys ended up on a human blood ranch awaiting to be a caprisun for a family of fang heads.
>>
>>94320185
>I did like that Erin Tarn was being a cute little meddling grandma
Yeah, her stint in the Vampire Kingdoms kind of wakes her up from being a meddling grandma, and you SLOWLY start to see her figuring out a bit about why Prosek does the shit he does the more she ends up seeing and hearing about in her travels.
>>
Question; why does the Asgardian High Elf from Pantheons of the Megaverse use the same EXP table as the Demigod? Is the High Elf really that powerful?
>>
>>94320185
Erin Tarn is just her alias. She's really Lady Prosek who was rescued by the Cyber-knight guy & then she went & did her little world tour, being a meddling liberal grandma. Then during the gathering of heroes she realizes that Prosek was right or at least not all that wrong & returns.

Lady Prosek & Erin Tarn both grew up as country girls in the early CS. Both have intimate knowledge of the Chi-Town library & the Prosek family. Both have two biosystem fingers on their left hand. Lady Prosek was captured by Lord Dunscon & held for a considerably long time until freed by the cyberknight Winslow Thorpe. Now, what if instead of spending that entire time as a captive, Lady Prosek was rescued far sooner, & decided to take the opportunity to travel around & study everything she only dreamed about while in the Chi-Town library? In typical white woman fashion she runs off to alien & D-Bee shitholes & talks about how they are just so wonderful. Eventually she goes to Africa & has a wake up call cause theirs no way she can justify that place as being good in any way, so she returns home to her conservative husband, now blown out by D-Bee dicks & her midlife second wave feminist crisis has run its course. Now she wants the protection & status she had back in Chi-Town.

my friends and I campaign started forever ago and we pull anything from all the existances in all of reality. if its possible its possible. so what started the rifts megaverse has been travels to all sorts of dimensions gaining power and untold new forms of magic and all sorts of stuff. and we have such a lax campaign that we just kinda of get away with alot of things and find ways to 4th wall shit with magic or tech. now we operate out of earth 0 dimension gotham city from the dc comics multiverse as a 20 person group of all sorts of professions and occ and classes and whatnot and are super massively high level in everything its so cheese but its fun. so now gotham has this power armor magic casting reality bending whatever team running around terrorizing gothams criminals and shit talking them constantly. we do all sorts of bullshit stuff like using magic to summon the person to us and than all the evidence we need. than we put them to sleep and magically restrain them and off they go teleported to jail with it all and remove them from the campaign for a few years or if we want them back and have them escape. crime has drastically dropped and batman and the bat family and other heroes are all oh no we gotta do it this way and stuff. thats not even getting into the whole true gods sending a bunch of copies of things from all of existance and reality into some super expaned earth 0 dimension change that made the old earth 0 dimension the size of a penny and the new version about 6ft by 6ft in size. anything you can think of has a copy there including star wars and dragon ball multiverse and so on. I could type up a 500000 line reply talking about all the stuff we've seen and done in the campaign over the last 17 years. we've been anywhere and everywhere you can think of using anything tha6t exists or ideas or thoughts and gone there and done whatever. its just so cheese and it brings the group much joy.

I wish there was more to have a PB over 30. Pleasure Bunnies can reach 50 with a good roll & access to the Phaseworld cosmetic surgery machine, & that's before looking into Physical Skills & otherniche ways to boost it. I'd love to see how high i could crank it. A Pleasure Bunny with a 100 PB utterly mogging all the love goddesses that barely hit 30 would be hilarious.

Question: does ANYONE know where the Brodkil experience table can be found? They've been a "technically playable" R.C.C. since they debuted in Sourcebook 1, but I can't seem to find their Experience Table anywhere...
>>
>>94360732
Triax? Or Atlantis?
>>
>>94361397
Nope. Atlantis gives us these EXP tables:
>Ancient Dragon
>Atlantean Vagabond
>Stone Master
>Tattooed Man
>Atlantan Undead Slayer
>Sunaj Assassin/Kydian (Splugorth Overlord & Powerlord)/Splugorth Slaver
>T-Monster Man
>Chiang-ku/Zembahk/Adorak/Metzla - use Dragon EP
>Kittani/Blind Warrior Woman - use Cyber-knight EP

And Triax gives us these EXP tables:
>NGR Intelligence Officer
>NGR Intelligence Commando
>NGR Power Armor Commando
>NGR Robot Soldier
>NGR Cyborg Soldier
>NGR Robot Combat Pilot
>NGR Comms Officer/Medic/Field Mechanic
>NGR Combat Soldier/Police
>Euro-Juicer
>Gypsy Thief
>Gypsy Wizard-Thief
>Gypsy Seer
>Gypsy Gifted One

There's no EXP tables that I can find in sourcebook 1 or conversion book 1 - hell, I can't even find the "creature of magic" EXP table that the R.C.C. writeups for the faerie folks keep pointing me to in the conversion book!

At what range can an A.I. control something? Both Mutants in Orbit & Heroes Unlimited have remote piloted robots & suits. I want to build a villain who is robot A.I. that's disguised/mistaken for a meteor who sends a bunch of robots & drones to the planet to kill shit while it stays in orbit
>>
>>94361561
Any idea which one? Rifter #46 has an article offering an alternative take on the Brodkil as basically demons possessing mutated corpses, and the Brodkil Gearhead R.C.C. in that article says "use the Brodkil EXP table". Hence why I'm so annoyed I can't find it.

>>94361580
I think it usually depends on radio transmissions? Sourcebook 1 first introduced in-depth robot mechanics, and World Book 5 introduces a remote robot pilot of some kind, so maybe check those...?

I want to say yes, but I'm not sure which sourcebook it's in. The Rifter may have something along those lines... I know for a fact issue #46 has a Human Mutant archetype called the Lightwielder whose whole thing is that it can shoot (solar-powered?) lasers out of its hands.

Okay, so, the Rifts Conversion Book lists various faerie folk as playable, that's all well and good... but can they level up? Honestly I think it's just intended to be a bonus enhancement for your mortal Man At Arms than something you should try to be a real juicer. Its in Triax so really you are in a heavy combat setting so really it's more about helping with the skill bonuses and combat bonuses that you can use as you are in a power armor or tank.
>>
Anons, should Trimadores be able to take the Psi-Tech class? Yes or no?
>>
>>94378191
Yeah, what's confusing is that there's a separate EXP table for the Euro-Juicer, so I don't know if it's supposed to be a Juicer that replaces the standard juicer rig with the EJ rig or what.

Quick question; if I stick with the standard "Uteni Trader" R.C.C. for the Uteni (Rifts Mercenaries, Dimension Book 5), is there a specific EXP table I need to use? I'm guessing that if I take one of the alternative O.C.Cs, it progresses according to that O.C.C, but these "default" R.C.C. always confuse me if they don't explicitly list a comparable O.C.C for leveling up, like how the Blind Warrior Women of Altara use either the Cyber-Knight or the Juicer EXP table.

Anons? Putting together an NPC band for Rifts (don't ask why); is this too outlandish or mary-sue?

All names placeholders.

"The Kosmic Misfits"; Megaverse-traveling monster adventurers. Consist of "The Old Guard", the original escapees from the slave-pits of Atlantis, and "The Newbloods", D-bees added on afterwards.

The Old Guard
>Zarok Azathoth
Human Male, hybrid-classed Shifter/Necromancer. Masterminded the escape. Has developed specialized summoning spells to summon party members. *Problems* with baseline humans; prefers D-bees, magical creatures, mutants, fellow mages, and true psychics. Named himself from pre-cataclysm old books.
>Rosalina
Female Pythonan Evoker (custom O.C.C.; Psyker/Mage hybrid class, like the Mystic, but focused on offensive psi-powers & spells instead of healing and sensing). Zarok's original partner. 2nd in command.
>Mr. Mouth
Male Rulian Translator. The Old Guard killed his original slave-owner as part of the escape, took him with them. Party's diplomat. Loving his freedom.
>Kazara
Renegade Staphra Female Warlord. Managed to hide her disloyalty to the Splugorth long enough to get bio-borged, but then got found out.
>Miriam 16
Renegade Blind Warrior Woman of Altara. Determined to never go back.
>Neferkiti
Female Sphinx, hybrid-classed Techno-Wizard/Cyber-Doc. Fascinated by bionics and techno-wizardry; obsessed with perfecting TW-bionics and creating magitek cyborgs (and psyborgs). Motor-mouthed, socially anxious bookworm, a far cry from the seductive, domineering, mischievous gynosphinx.
>Radiance of Spring's First Dawn, aka "Psy-Worm Jane"
Female Zebrahk. Rescued by the Old Guard literally seconds before she was going to be lobotomized. Has been TW-cybernetically augmented so she can attach herself to a TW robot body (basically a suit of Gladiator armor stuffed with TW-modified parts from Coalition Skelebots).
>Vraska
Female Were-Dragon (Monster). Insane; bloodthirsty cannibal AND also childlike. Ambiguous innocence incarnate. Loyal

The Newbloods
>Dr. Badvibes
Male Men-Rall Tech-Master. Talks like a Tomb of the Cybermen (2nd Doctor) Cyber-Man with the vocabulary of a Dalek. Likes weapons, destruction, blowing things up, shooting lightning.
>Skrapit
Neuter (Female) Aberrant Mechanoid Brute. Believes itself the last of its kind, determined that the Mechanoids should have a chance to start afresh. Ultimate goal is to create a Mechanoid "spawning factory" using its genes as the template for a new race. Close friends with Neferkiti & Dr. Badvibes. Starting to think of itself as female.
>Blitzer
Neuter Aberrant Mechanoid Runner. Skrapit's fellow Mechanoid survivor. Fascinated by magic; spends much of its downtime discussing sorcery with its party members.
>Gargos
Female Bruutasaur. Originally from Dinosaur Swamp. Thought the Misfits looked tough, so decided to tag along; was getting ready to leave her tribe anyway.
>Slicer
Male Tirrvol Sword Fist. Joined the Misfits because he believes they have a chance to do much good.
>Moloch
Male Holy Terror. Discovered mostly amnesiac floating in a dimensional limbo; probably displaced there during the interrupted migration from Wormwood. Joined the party because it sounded better than being stuck in limbo.
>"Nurse" Ratchet
Female Psi-X Alien. Psychic Healer power-set. Cranky, sarcastic, constantly belittling the stupidity of her companions, but also dedicated to keeping them alive.
>Shuulgra
Female Vernulian Psy-Slinger. Very proud of her skills, likes to show off. Has a rivalry with Rosalina over their respective telekinetic prowess.
>>
>>94409368
The worm wouldn't need to have TW cybernetics to pilot a robot. Just Telemechanics & a "cockpit" but with them being a worm you could just run a few electronic systems to a chest storage compartment.

Indont like custom classes/races when it comes to giving people a thumbs up so those ones idk. I tend to discourage custom stuff with NPCs. Most of the characters take the "goofy gang of misfits" schtick a bit too many but that's a line for your table to figure out not me

>>
>>94409368
>>94409411
That's a huge fucking band you got there. What are you going to do with so many NPCs?!?

Adding individualist Mechanoids seems a bit much to me.

Their motivations also don't seem to align with their race/nature, so you should fix that.

Can Sphinxes and Zembahks be techno-wizards? I don't think so.

Were-Dragons aren't bloodthirsty cannibals at all. Your contrarianism is kind of juvenile and ridiculous, I must say.
>>
>>94409450
They don't get telemechanics, but if you're doing all this custom shit then it's not a far cry to give them a telemechanic helmet/link like Archie or to trade one or two of their psychic powers for Telemechanics. Like, swap out the PsiSword for the Psi-Tech machine link ability.
>>
>>94409452
>Adding individualist Mechanoids seems a bit much to me.
That is literally the description of the Aberrant Mechanoids; their entire schtick is that they are mutant Mechanoids who have rejected the hive-mind and genocidal madness of the normal Mechanoids. See Rifts Sourcebook 2: The Mechanoids.

>Can Sphinxes and Zembahks be techno-wizards? I don't think so.
Zembahks are a Racial Character Class and can't "multiclass" to an O.C.C, that's correct.

Sphinxes, however, CAN take O.C.C.s, and in fact their R.C.C. is basically a hybrid of racial skills & abilities PLUS a magic-using or scholarly O.C.C, with Techno-Wizard and Cyber-Doc both explicitly called out as examples (Techno-Wizardry is even a particular area of interest for sphinxes). See Rifts Conversion Book 1, pg 158-159.

>Were-Dragons aren't bloodthirsty cannibals at all. Your contrarianism is kind of juvenile and ridiculous, I must say.
You missed that this character is a Were-Dragon *Monster*. That is, a Were-Dragon subjected to Bio-Wizardry modifications that turn them into an M.D.C. killer with the personality of a psychotic predator. See Rifts World Book 21: Splynn Dimensional Market, pg. 98-101. She has *two* of the starting Were-Dragon Monster Insanities; cannibalistic cravings and childlike mentality, both on page 100.
>>
>>94409452
Forgot to mention, the Aberrant Mechanoids entry in Sourcebook 2 says that whilst it won't be a universal goal, some individual Aberrants may seek to create Mechanoid reproduction facilities to replenish their numbers.

Also, the writeup of the Aberrant Mechanoid Runner notes that they will find magic fascinating and be interested in learning how to use it.

this is why I love rifts and all its other universes and whatnot. the art for some of the stuff is really awesome.

The amount of Shemarrian fan fiction is huge. Tons of pages of just equipment on the forums

It'd have been far better if he'd made more art for them than this headcanon nonsense.

I see. Y'know, anyone else think it's weird that despite Palladium being largely known for its setting building because of Rifts, Palladium Fantasy RPG and Dead Reign, their earlier shit like TMNT & Other Strangeness, Heroes Unlimited and Ninjas & Superspies has literally no inherent worldbuilding in it at all? I wonder if that played a role in its inability to steal the crown from TSR...

TMNT had After the Bomb which is Rifts without D-Bees and Magic. Heroes Unlimited had Mutants Underground and Galaxy Guide. Ninjas and Superspies had Mystic China, though it was mostly it's own thing.

The Ayys, after generations of probing humans, were brought low by an unforeseen consequence even Great AElonicus couldn't predict. So now they just bum around and steal shit. The Lizardmen never associated with these crackheads, yeah. Shut the fuck up mammal.

Hilariously, the real lore might be even crackier than that.

The Psi-X are illegal experiments in augmenting human psionic potential conducted by Dr. Bradford, the madman behind the Coalition's mutant animal soldiers, in his Lone Star facility. Ending up with a bunch of deformed and insane super-psis, in a rare moment of pity he released them into the wilderness of urban Texas. They've been around long enough to have at least one generation of kids, and they're starting to genuinely believe they ARE aliens.

Bradford solves a lot of his problems by releasing them in the wilds of texas. There is probably a lot of tax documents caught in tumbleweeds across the state.

Listening to legion of Myth rant about the coalition has made me realize that magic is never the problem or is misrepresented

>Atlantis tries to make a super portal and sucks the magic out as well as themselves. Magic was not the problem, it was a horrific transdimensional accident.
>The great cataclysm: Magic has nothing to do with that. That was caused by giving Brazilians nukes and having a nuclear exchange on the day the planets align. A freak coincidence
>Demons everywhere: Demons were always waiting to invade. They were at the doors and we're always waiting. Magic in fact comes later in a splat for Chaos Earth.

After that Magic is just a tool, a means for someone to do things. If anything magic in rifts is another means for the nerd and geeks to empower themselves after all the jocks figured out how to work the laser guns!

I liked the mechanoid designs more when they were more rudimentary shapes with buggy limbs. It makes them seem cheesier but also beat home that they are like snails or other mollusks. The robot is their shell. They don't have much articulated points the same way you wouldn't want your house or car to be able to twist around.
