Depends on the group. People are also way more prone to act in character in text games. Pic unrelated.

>delete list
That was retarded. You could have posted it here.
>>
>>94284953
This kind of thing would be very appreciated in a mud or similar rp text game, for sure. In person or voice though, most people get too stuck on how they sound or how what they're saying would seem to an imagined audience.

It's why some improv classes are a good idea. Even if theater makes you roll your eyes, it helps you get over the 'speaking to a group' jitters that plague even players who barely talk in character.

Alright, there are two lists, one being curses, the other prayers. It was for a WFRP campaign, and the priest being a priest of Manann (which is how I got the inspiration for the HARK TRITON HARK in the first place).
The idea was to have three parts for each, so you rolled 3d6 and see what random prattle you got out of it.
Fuck, it's actually too long for a post.

Curses
>4 Oh Manann, dein ergebenster Diener erbittet deine Segnung gegen diesen Unhold!
>6 Manann, was siehst du hier?

It's always a struggle trying to read the room with stuff like that. You could try slowly increasing the gusto instead next time. Or just risk making it awkward again if you have the balls, not like anything major was lost

The eternal struggle. I'm a rollplayer, my friend is a roleplayer so ultimately you have one guy matter of factly stating actions and one guy screaming loudly.

Some people aren't going to be operating at nearly the same level as you, for better or for worse. Further, people blindsided by what someone else is doing are typically going to hold their tongue until they actually form an opinion. Honestly, lean into it for a couple of sessions, and if you don't get any kind of response, then feel free to resent these people for being shitters.
Personally, I see this sort of behavior (passive silence) mostly come from people very new to the hobby or very new to the group, who aren't entirely certain exactly how to take a situation they weren't prepared for. Typically, such people either take a couple of sessions to get into the flow of things, or realize TTRPGs aren't their thing and leave on their own terms.

Forgive me for saying this op but I think your issue was that you got too emotionally invested in front of other germans who aren't as familiar around you as you thought. Germans and Nordic people in general tend to be very reserved so don't take it personally. Not trying to be racist it's just a cultural thing I've noticed when interacting with germans. They aren't very expressive.

I was WAY more of a melodramatic thespian when I did text-based roleplay. Back before IRC died and all those communities moved to degenerate Discord servers where everyone is a lunatic and/or transexual.
Good times.
It's way easier to roleplay via text because there's more distance between you and the cringe of actually taking it seriously, and your actual acting ability is irrelevant compared to your ability to write long-winded prose quickly.
>>
>>94285416
>>94285428
Shit's based and your group is wrong and gay.
>>
>>94290090
>long winded prose
god, please, save me from this
Any system that doesn't allow me to interject at appropriate times is one that fails at the social aspect. Nobody talks to each other in big monologues, stop it.
>>
>>94290249
>Never played text-based
That's just how it works. It's not doable unless you can get some meat on it. Generally speaking a time limit of like 10 minutes for really substantial posts, 5 minutes for somewhat meaty ones, and then like 30 seconds for one-line posts where you pretty much just say "I whack him in the face with my shovel."
>>
>>94290300
I've played text based, that's why I need to be saved from this.
Also, 10 minutes a post is SO fucking slow.
It would take you real life hours to finish a simple conversation.

>That's just how it works
Ask me how I know YOU never played text-based. The dialogues are normal, what's winded are the descriptions and intejects of character thoughts, aka things that don't work when playing regular game by regular table.
>rest of the post
Yeah, you never in your life played anything via text, thanks for sharing your Platonic ideal of that concept
>>
>>94291640
You've created a whole narrative in your head that's completely divorced from reality. Have fun in the parallel nightmare zone you've constructed for yourself, because I can't even argue with you if your starting premise is based on your own personal assumptions about how things work in bizarro world.
We'll just have to agree to disagree.
>>94290335
10 minutes is for multi-paragraph, significant posts. Openings, or significant plot points. 5 minutes is for setting a complicated scene, where there's a lot of moving parts that each need a sentence of two of legitimate consideration. This post I'm writing right now will have taken me just over 5 minutes because I'm actually thinking, for example. 30 seconds is for the workmanlike one-sentence replies that are meant to come out matter-of-fact.
>>
>>94285416
>>94285428
I would legit suck you off under the table if you did this in my group. This is amazing.
>>
>>94291708
30 seconds is an incredibly long time for a short reply, even with captcha.
5 minutes for the post you have written is fucking ridiculously long. You will NEVER accomplish anything in a text game like this.
>>
>>94291804
>>94291708

>>
>>94292217
This.
There's a reason some play-by-post games used to get like one post per involved player per DAY.
on IRC taking 5-10 minutes to crank out some purple paragraphs was not unheard of. I feel like I'm being gaslit or something, I thought this was common knowledge.
>>
>>94292427
It's just zoomers and unmedicated ADHD patients being unable to comprehend people being fine with a slower rate of progress. But when you're only expected to post once every few days you're also gonna take more time to think about what you're putting out.
