>>94289558I mean this one. They might touch it for a second but they never get their 'prize'.>TQThey've spent the past 30 years squandering their legacy on almost literally nothing, to be honest becoming weiss schwarz is at least doing more with it then "Uhhh we have a shitty diablo clone that no one likes and died before it came out"
>what's on top of the deck... what's on top of the deck?>OH! it's 30 different functional reprints of Monstrous Rage >wow!
>>94289580Wish the vampires won, they're probably the best faction there and Wizards could have had them fracture anyways due to Aclazotz which would've prevented them from just steamrolling the other factions.

standard with red is fucking unplayable, this is like the Gorilla Channel
>>94289638I stopped caring so long ago.My new hobby is guns.
hey this is rudy from alpha investments and today wizards has rugpulled another generation of nerds by power creeping 30 years worth of your cards
>>94289638I had forgotten how gay and retarded Mark Rosewater's voice is.
>>94289587Jace and Vraska cucking Nissa would be funny, at least they have personalities.
Remember when we actually liked this game and made original content for the thread? Now it's like everyone is trapped in hell. People claim to like this shit but it's "I'm proxying. I don't pay to play this. I play ____ cope format only. I only crawl out for preleases." People who used to live for this game, now avoid playing the game as much as possible. It's insane what we've become.
>>94289700anyone who thinks this is a financial game needs several bullets to the face
>>94289749speak for yourself I came here for the weekly lore threads and the ccgboth of those are dead now though
>>94289749It is what it is man.If current point of magic is to play a different license, I might as well move to games that are actually based around those licenses. So right now I'm playing Digimon and One PieceI do like Vehicles tho as a mechanic, so I'll keep an eye on Aetherdrift to at least draft it on Arena
>>94289816I've seen some people play OP but it's presentation looks like dry milk, how does it play?
>>94289827same as 99% of the other jp tcgsboring as fuck and the only reason anyone plays it is because it has luffy on the cardif you replaced that with jace no one would play
>>94289827It's okay. Presentation-wise it has come a long way from the first like two sets filled with anime screenshots and now its like 99% original art (plus manga panels in the event cards). The card framing is still like very bland tho ngl.Gameplay-wise is another DualMasters clone but I enjoy their take on the resource system.
TQWeiß Schwarz is based, any hopefully MTG changes their broken land/resource system by taking notes from WS
>>94289773Here's the some custom cards. The Strixhaven lore is there used to a lot of violence until the 5 dragons stopped. They banne all destructive magic only allowing their chosen students to learn. The Oriq wish for magic to be free for anyone to use and attack the school.
>>94289841Magic is mechanically the best TCG and nothing else comes close. They know it which is why they think they can get away with shitting directly into the cardpool nonstop. For a long time, they have been able to do it freely, but people are hitting a breaking point. Magic is completely dead where I live, and I live in a place where tabletop is fucking huge. The only form of Magic that still exists here is literal high school troons playing commander. It's actually over.
>>94289861harry potter plane sucked yeanot exactly news
>>94289871I liked their attempt at a new identity for Boros
>>94289874Lorehold was nice, shame about everything else.
>>94289875no
>>94289874White/Red as archeology studies would have been a lot more interesting if the plane felt like it had any actual history or nations outside of a single college campus.
>>94289882>1 Waifu>1 good schoolShame about everything else.
>>94289875I think the Boros one was nice and the orzhov one was aight. The other two failed at their attempt at being new.The other three just feel the same color as always.
>>94289891They kind of had that, but it was also one of the places that had all multiversal shit and I think they looked at that too
>>94289891They did make the elephant a Planeswalker so he could do the indiana jone things in other planes
>>94289908He also formed the crux of an incredibly stupid bullshit deck
>>94289895There were quite a few qt 3.14's.

>>94289559Give me less bearscape and more attractive lesbians and magic can turn into whatever the fuck it wants to be
>>94289992there
>>94289935Even Zimone is a better choice, too bad Wizards is too chicken shit to give pregnant black teenager girls the representation they deserve.
>>94290002This is a massive improvement over the secret lair
>>94290006I'm sure they have an actual large field of bears somewhere in yuri kuma but I'm not looking for it.
>>94290004Tyvar was inside of ZImone, technically
>>94290012Like I said, Wizards is too cowardly to do it.
>>94289902>They kind of had thatThey really, really did not. They make constant references to a Blood Age where there was a lot of war, but all of the magic from the Blood Age is forbidden, but the Lorehold are also free to animate spirit statues of people from the Blood Age to ask them questions. All of the potential locations and landmarks are little more than footnotes, which give the faint impression of a wider world, but lacks enough depth to make the magical archeology seem interesting. >>94289908Yeah, having a historian shines a lot more when you're able to put them in a place with depth and history. They probably realized that printing cards ala Thrilling Discovery where Quintorious makes an amazing archeological find that was never foreshadowed and will never be mentioned again wasn't very interesting.
>>94290023>and will never be mentioned again wasn't very interesting.Wasn't that the Fomori? He brings it up in Caverns of Ixalans story, he calls them the Coin Empire since the only proof of their existence he has at that point in the story are the coins they left behind on multiple planes.
>>94290035the card he's specifically talking about is the last ancient city of zanzibart (on archaivos or whatever the plane is called)>>94290023I said kind of, it wasn't great.
>>94289559>TQThey kept hiring retards that kept making their IP less and less relevant by the year, the day fast approaches that the special weird set will be the once in a blue moon "universes within" set telling you who the superfriends are fucking. Love or hate this move, after the events of the last decade, it simply made sense.
>>94290009This is the best we’ll get for a while I think. It would take serious leadership change at Hasbro to let them put beautiful women on card art, even if they only ever ship them with other women
>>94290078we pretty regularly get good stuff in the anime arts don't we
>>94289864magic, as it was intended to be played, will survive in some form, as it was intended to be played, in low power games, with one ofs of everything but commons, played in school library backrooms and family gatherings. Wizards can never take that away.
>>94290035No, I was referring to >>94290061Which really just makes my point that there isn't really enough on Arcavios for Lorehold to work with. There's potential there in theory, but Lorehold is wasted on Strixhaven.
>>94289559>those titsThat's too much, aqua is cute as is without being overly sexualized. MtG does a good job at portraying attractive women without resorting to low-effort coomerbait
No bans needed btw.>TQFear over success of competing TCGs like Lorcana, One Piece etc.
EVERY MATCH ON MTGO IS REDTHE GAME IS RUINEDRUINED
>>94290130Switch to arena we have the leyline banned
>>94290144only in the joke mode (the whole client is a joke but you get the idea)
I think a problem I have with the Universes Beyond thing is that at the end of the day its very likely we will end with like multiple different ips all crammed in a single deck without much thought besides mechanical one. It's a problem I already had with Universus. No I don't want to play as Ryu, who is using's his inner Godzilla's Roar to combo Scorpion's Get Over Here into All Might's Detroit SmashI think it probably works better in something like Commander because you're building everything around a single card, but something like a standard deck???? It just makes the game feel like a bad mugen game.Weiss Schwartz and Union Arena dodge this issue by making you deckbuild only with the same IP if I'm not mistaken and I think that better represents and protects the spirit of the IP
>>94289891The Arcavios set will explore more of the plane as a field to gather data on the Phyrexian aftermath.
>>94290130I don't know if you're talking about pauper but I've had enough of red, I'm not touching the format until they do something about it
>>94290153>It just makes the game feel like a bad mugen game.every game is made better if you add mugenrivals of aether was a fine enough game but it only got really big when it became smash mugen
>>94290153People love MUGEN though. When are we getting a ronald mcdonald card.
>>94290110that's how that cow looks in the anime. It's the definition of "on-model".
>>94290085>implying I look at art on game pieces I will never play with or against Probably, but I’ve never seen one
>>94290158I mean to each their own, but I think it looks hella fucking ugly. It's so plastic and lazy. Every character lives in a fucking island of their own IP and then you can attach like Captain's America shield into it.The best use of crossover I have ever seen in a card game space was Teppen, that one digital card game with the capcom IPs that I'm surprised is still alive, because the characters actually interact with other in the art. In the Ghost n Goblins x Resident Evil 8 set, you can actually see Arthur interacts with the Resident Evil 8 bad guys and it feels much more lived in and earned, alongside the other like smaller substories they somehow managed to convey.
>>94290206>the fucking re7 babykek
>>94290206well that's your answercapcom owns those IPs so they can do whatever the fuck they want with themany time you add in multiple IPs interacting you run into a thousand lawyers per IPwhen wreck it ralph/2 came out there were endless arguments from IPs about what character could do what and how they would interact with competing IP
The teams won't be tribal based.
>>94290219i hope lorwyn 2 has the return of kindred/tribal
Any Pauper gamers?I'm wondering about Pauper Elves. It seems like it shouldn't be good anymore but it still shows up in top 8s, and the deck is fun to play and so cheap it might as well be free (6 tix lol)
>>94290156I really like this card, both the effect and the art
>>94290153>>94290206>anon doesn't want to feel the thrill of attacking with Spodermen, master of sweg and Chudbob, squishy renegadengmi
>>94290219wtf which plane is getting its own racing team?Team Phyrexia shows up with biocars?
>>94290218Yeah, just saying. Seeing the characters actually interact with one another just sells the thing better. Ryu being transported into the Megaman.EXE internet to stop a Bison virus is better when you get to see Ryu fucking clueless about what the fuck is going on>>94290216It's RE8 bro
>>94290261like with everything, it depends, on how it's handled, on which characters/games/shows/etc. were talking about, how much care has been put into it, just on so many factors.
>>94290261Is that how you're supposed to hold chopsticks?
>>94290275No.
Now that we're bigger whores than smashfags (but for the rest of time), which "NEVER EVER" would you want to see? If Kumagawa was printed on a commander only product, it would get me playing that shit.
>>94290275Ryu was trained wrongas a joke
>>94290275The answer lies in the heart of the battle
>>94290287We already got final fantasy but for big ones pokemon or yugioh. It's a shame kyogre would be some random control card but I could still play with zigzagoon maybe
>>94290153I pray for Hasbro's quick death and a quicker buy.Hopefully not by Disney.
>>94290231>but it still shows up in top 8sanon that's a league dump, the order in which the decks are presented doesn't make any difference, it's just a curated pool of lists that went 5-0 in a league, they're barely above FNM level in competitiveness this is a challenge top8:https://mtgtop8.com/event?e=61039&f=PAUto your main point, elves is definitely a fun deck to play but I wouldn't play it over broodscale or goblin combo
>>94290296
>>94290287Street Fighter was the one but I didn't end buying any of those cards. One Piece next I guess. Or a SNK IP like KOF or Fatal Fury
>>94290296It'd be something like Tencent, and you're kidding yourself if you think anyone in the position to buy wouldn't be pushing for the exact same thing.
>>94290293I think Pokemon would be an odd fit, Pokemon likes sets of three while Magic like sets of 5.Who would you even put alongside the weather Trio if you picked them?
>>94290314Jirachi and DeoxysThe regis are a cycle of colored artifact creatures and gigas is colorless
>>94290313>>94290306Fuck you two I'll keep coping till the day I die.
>>94290153I hate to be THAT guy, but you can arguably already do this in mtg (with all of the cutesy shit in the game lately contrasted with the eldrazi), and the union arena solution is lame. Maybe if they just print less overtly "THING YOU REMEMBER" names for cards, this can be largely avoided (although you will still be casting gigaflare on the Rhino, but what can you do...)
Regirock is GreenRegisteel is RedRegice is BlueRegieleki is WhiteRegidrago is BlackRegigigas is colorless (maybe even anus if you want to gimmick it up a bit)
>>94290314Just give them wedges/shards.
>>94290219>>94290256I'm not sure if there are even that many planes that could compete in a motor vehicle race.Kamigawa, Kaladesh, New Capenna, where else? Ravnica might be able to scrounge together a car. A lot of the others really don't seem remotely industrialized enough for it. Though now I'll almost be disappointed if some gigachad from Theros doesn't show up in a god-blessed chariot and win it all somehow.
or WBURG or something if you want, do they still do the cheating thing where they slap WUBRG onto a card's activation for edh players
>>94290318I feel like Jirachi is a mispick, it's just some nothing mythical compared to even Deoxys who got story relevance in the remakes.>>94290339There are 10 of them? Even if you pick three legendary trios, you have one spot left over.Although I guess you could put Arceus there.
>>94289861>just one treasureNowhere near jewish enough for the Krab
>>94290345Vryn is probably going to be the third plane alongside Kaladesh and Amonkhet. Dominaria could field some magic mech car. Ravnica could absolutely join with some Izzet vehicle. Thunder Junction isn't really it's own place, but it could do it. And yeah, there's nothing to say a magic chariot or something like that couldn't be part of it too.
>>94290384That reminds me, is Jace's dad dead? The flavor text from him has him prepping to overload and presumably explode some Mage-Rings, and we don't see him when Vraska and Jace go to Vryn.
>>94290405I feel like he was mentioned in the story but I can't remember
>>94289170It also helps that both Warhammers have better writers.
>Standard and Pioneer legal LathrilFuck, feels good to be an elfchad
>>94290436It will only get better with the Lorwyn set. Pioneer Elves is already feasting with rhe archdruid reprint. I can only hope for a wirewood symbiote or birchlore druid reprint in standard but thats way too much
>>94290301well one also top 8'd the recent Magic Con Las Vegas tournament. I posted that league because it had a 6-tix deck and multiple 5-0 lists.was mainly wondering if it would be a viable infinite-league grinding deck anyways.the winning Tireless Tribe deck in that Challenge is funny as fuck by the way.
Is there any scenario where one would ever play this face down as a morph and pay 3 mana rather than pay 2 white mana and play it face-up? I mean, besides trying to pull a bluff, but even still, I can't see it pay off.Am I just stupid here or what's the deal with premodern players doing that?
>>94290314The poke mythology circle from the leaks.
>>94290384Thunder Junction seems like it still just has trains and stagecoaches, for whatever reason. It feels like they have the tech, but at the same time that tech is from elsewhere anyway.Though really, my point is more that if you tally it all up, it feels like there's barely enough participants to have 10 racers in total, let alone 10 factions of racers. The only one I can think of that would have a sufficient quantity for a bunch of drivers all from one plane who would form a team would be some sort of Kamigawa biker gang. I dunno. I'm just really confused what WotC is even going for with it. Like the idea of having 10 teams just seems at odds with how this sort of race would go. Surely you'd have random people from all across the multiverse showing up to take a crack at it who wouldn't be a part of any of those major teams. And just in terms of flavor, I'm way more interested in the solo racers who show up with their wacky one-off contraptions than any sort of organized team. A bunch of Kamigawa engineers showing up with dozens of identical hoverbikes sounds really boring.
>>94290521Yeah, I'm aware of that. It probably makes things easier from a crossover since we now know where everybody fits.Kyogre and her(?) supporting gods would probably be easy since water = psyhcic power is already a thing in Magic and I find their ancient Atlantean civilization much more interesting than Gorudon's nothing and Rayquaza's Draconids.
>>94290512First off, you never play ONE morph creature in your deck. That's the whole point. They're supposed to be AFRAID of flips, because they don't know when you're bluffing and when you're for real.Second, by playing a tapper face up you telegraph your future moves. Spend an extra mana for morph, what until summoning sickness wears off, then flip & tap on opponent end step for a surprise attack after untapping.
>>94289942It's tragic when people consider this hot, Vivien would be better if she had a personality.Too bad being a green fag strips away any personality you have in favor for tree fucking.
>>94290405>>94290415Him and Jace's mom divorced but besides that not much.
>>94290604Nice to see the zero iq spaniard herself. She's pretty attractive for an incompetent.
>>94290512Before they brought it back in Tarkir and enshittified it, Morph was very much designed as a mindgame mechanic and not 'kicker, but delayed'. You could put your whipcorder face down and bluff it was a different, bigger morph creature in your deckAt least, that was the intent if not for the fact Battering Craghorn(?) assfucked the design space on morph mindgames so hard that they cite it as the primary reason the stat lines of most tarkir morphs as very middling because Craghorn flat out beat every other morph that flipped for 3 or less mana outside one or two cards that had notable drawbacks or alternate flip costs like discarding. So basically you play it face down to pretend it's Battering Craghorn
>>94290628>3cmc reanimate in standard
>>94290644with a 1 turn delay
>>94289864IDK I live near one of the largest gaming stores and magic seems to be doing just fine. We are able to hold draft nights and FNM standard at the same time with 0 issues of players running out. Well over 50+ people per night. The one piece card game seems to be picking up here, but I have 0 interest in that. Otherwise magic is king still
>>94290512I know nothing about premodern but looking at the deck it's run in and the other Premodern decks I'm guessing it's run since it's the largest 2 cmc rebel with a useful effect and has the niche use of answering creatures with protection from white.
>>94290682>I live near one of the largest gaming stores andNo shit retard, it's smaller stores that are dropping Magic as the profit margins thin and the choice between 'run MTG like every other store' or 'run a niche game but have a monopoly on the local area for said game' becomes more enticing.
>>94290521What the fuck am I looking at?
>>94290718Profit margins will only get thinner as Wizards proceeds to print more and more product at a faster rate.
>>94290293Nintendo has bad blood with both Hasbro and WotC. Theyll never be a pokemon one.

>>94290721Legitimate internal documents from around the time they were worldbuilding gen 4 came out after some dude from gamefreak got phished. That's the (filled one) tree of life thing they had back in like 2006 for the arceus event
>>94290287>which "NEVER EVER" would you want to see?Kamen Rider, possibly with meld cards that combine the belt and protagonist or some sort of tweaked meld where the protag can combine with a number of versions of the belt/gimmick item for different forms/textboxes

>>94290929The only reason to tap something right after it untaps is to deny the opponent its use - or to force it to be used during upkeep. This is smart if that something taps for a sorcery speed ability, or might attack you. Otherwise, it is much smarter to tap something (and use fast effects in general) at the END of the opponent's turn. You know what creature and sorcery-speed threats they've brought online, you can see what their biggest defender is, you can tell what crucial mana source they have left. Most importantly, if they start doing shit to counter your shit, you're both tapping out, but YOU get to untap immediately after. If you're tapping their stuff at the START of their turn, you've already shot your wad, and they get to make choices without having to consider the potential threats you're holding/bluffing.>>94290829When foils were first introduced, the vast majority of players treated them like shit. Stores/dealers/repackers would offer to take foils at a penny ($0.01) each, and people would gladly unload them. Even for relatively expensive cards, the value of foils didn't really become apparent for decades. There were definitely fans of them, but by and large demand came from commanders and investors.
>>94291417I pretty much only play edh (and limited) and have since 2010 and I always thought they looked like shit.
>>94290628mono black Valvagoth reanimator?
>>94291426When I said "commanders" I meant "people looking to bling out their decks." Maybe Modern as a format increased the popularity of foils, because you could have your entire deck foiled? Definitely wasn't the case for Type 1 (Legacy) way back in the day, given that there were no foils of anything before the middle of Saga block. I even recall some of the pros at my FLGS mention that if you ever ended up at the top tables of a televised event, they'd make you remove foils because reflected light fucked up how the cards looked on video. Never found out if that was true or not.
>>94291426the biggest reason to hate foils was that they curved like pringles
>>94291474Oh I mean that's a good reason too, they make the card shit, I just always thought they looked like shit aesthetically
>>94291474I rarely experience this and I buy plenty of foils. I'm mostly stopping however because M15 foils are lazy and don't look as good as original or modern frame ones.
>>94291478The state of Magic foils is embarrassing. One Piece is a mediocre IP cash grab, but they use color coordination and layering to produce beautiful foils for their chase rares.
>>94291509That doesn't look too badThink I've seen some pretty good pokemon ones too iirc.
>>94291513Yeah, Pokemon knows that being collectable is one of the three pillars of being a TCG , so they make some crazy foil variants.

That's the basic monocolor creatures on which you build the sets' identity, and can expand from there.

I had an idea of drawing a MtG comic at one point, not in-universe or anything but like a YuGiOh type setup. But I'm so bogged down in competitive lists and netdecks that it would be all The One Ring decks and I'd never have a chance to ever use actual fun cards like >>94291561
>>94291732Trust me as someone who played at the time stormtide is peak timmy bait, it's not an actual blue wincon, and there aren't too many timmies in blue. There's the official(?) manga destroy all humanity which is from I think right before urza's destiny. It's very yugioh-esque, pretty good.
>>94291738Well YuGiOh was a very Timmy series, all flash and no fire. Nothing in the decks in those shows is remotely playable, but they're cool. There's nothing cool about turn 2 Bowmasters, cards like Stormtide and Form of the Dragon are peak fun
>>94291751at least in destroy all humanity they do a pretty good job of showing off decks, they even use meta (for the time) decksMC uses mono black aggro for a while and then starts doing other stuff
>>94291710Are you honestly that naive?
>Universes Beyond: Magic: the Gathering What year does this happen?
>>94291710You know why.
>>94291751>Well YuGiOh was a very Timmy series, all flash and no fire. What's funny is that yugioh, the anime, is the most johnny magical christmas land thing ever, and that's why it was popular.Yugioh, the game, is 100.00% Johnny and it's just people comboing off of combos off of combos that would make vintage or cedh blush.Since it's a recent topic, that's why mtg was never broadly popular, and why the "brand" is so lowly valued. There is no fandom for the game so there is nothing to draw in other players unless they are already a nerd who likes TCGs or are directly friends with someone who is a nerd into TCGs (I started playing in 2009 because a friend wanted to play edh)."Hey you can play this card game with Spiderman, Blanka, Spongebob, and Sephiroth" is infinitely more appealing than literally anything wotc has ever done in its entire history of the game.I also think it's way too late TO have any brand/fandom, even if we didn't have UB. Every time they've attempted to 'broaden' the story has been a colossal disaster that literally no one, new or existing, has liked. In the past month or so they did confirm that that netflix series is still somewhere in development hell and isn't officially cancelled, but I have the lowest of expectations for it.
>>94291786that first johnny should be timmy, obviously

>>94291786>I also think it's way too late TO have any brand/fandom, even if we didn't have UB. Every time they've attempted to 'broaden' the story has been a colossal disaster that literally no one, new or existing, has liked.I attribute this more to poor execution than the lack of possibility, although at the same time I believe internally there's a lot of issues that prevent a genuinely fleshed-out story from developing. Namely how R&D hashes out cards and that process taking priority over any story by necessity. Pretty much any story given time to develop on its own would have to run independent of a set which naturally isn't something WotC wants to do, since it would mean drawing people in with a story then telling them it was about a set from X years ago and it's not depicted on any of the cards.Right now the way we get "story" is R&D makes a planet of hats (yes, this was the case even in the early 2000s with block structure), then the author gets told to make a story fit it. That's why so many stories are concluded horribly and everywhere exists in a perpetual status quo. Because R&D isn't used to writing stories, they're used to making settings that rarely hold up to scrutiny.
>>94291880It was pointed out earlier today but Wizards failed to whore out its IP properly in the 2000s and so never got a Dawn of War (AKA the bedrock for which all of the 40k fanbase not directly playing the game spawns from) for itself.
>>94291880>Pretty much any story given time to develop on its own would have to run independent of a set which naturally isn't something WotC wants to do, since it would mean drawing people in with a story then telling them it was about a set from X years ago and it's not depicted on any of the cards. It was fr from an award-winning masterpiece but I was happy to see Kellan get a half-decent character arc throughout a year of sets, some focus on him, changes, then he retires with his hot vampire gf.(At least in post-weatherlight magic) any story is immediately gutted by it being cut short and "Hope you didn't like those characters because you aren't going to see them again ever (early on at least) or in 5-7 years (most of 'modern' magic). Teysa was one of the biggest victims of this but there are countless others.I do believe they could, at least hypothetically, iterate on the Kellan idea and just have A Main Character again and have them do things throughout a few sets, and with omenpaths that also heavily eases up on the "Hope you didn't like those characters bucko" aspect. That being said what is 99.99% likely to happen is the current story structure will remain and will make middling to sometimes ok stories and we unlucky few who consider ourselves vorthoses will be on the wayside.>>94291905This time, 40k gave its IP to any random dev who would accept it and then like 2-3 of those ended up good.
this too*
>>94291786>"Hey you can play this card game with Spiderman, Blanka, Spongebob, and Sephiroth" is infinitely more appealing than literally anything wotc has ever done in its entire history of the game.Sad but true. Magic was always destined to become the Gathering of IPs.
>>94291786>>94291880Magic gaining a story and a recognizable identity would require a hard reset on any existing lore and for things to be planned out more than a few months in advance. It's definitely doable, but would require a writer to have full creative control, a game designer who shares his vision, and a show runner who can handle making a 12 - 24 episode animated series every year.
>>94291941>Magic gaining a story and a recognizable identity would require a hard reset on any existing lore and for things to be planned out more than a few months in advance.reminder that we used to have thisthe game aspects don't even need to matter to it (that) much, most of the plot points of the weatherlight saga are actually told on cards, if a bit sporadically, but the actual story was told mostly through real mediumsfor the amount of ire that story spotlight cards caused for mostly legitimate reasons, a tweaked version of them could possibly do something like that, but it is almost certainly a case of too little too late
>>94291786>>94291880>>94291911>>94291914The thing is that Magic did have a fandom for its story. It was just never given the space to grow into something bigger.Plenty of people look fondly back on the Weatherlight Saga and while its rightfully given shit for being a marvel ripoff the Gatewatch Era was building up a community complete with fan art, lore speculation, and shipping. Hell ill out myself here but MTG tumblr was an actual community back in the day with direct engagement from Wizard outside of Maro dickriding and the wasteland of random card of the day, and "my headcanon for X character being trans" its become. Then the transition back to novels instead of readably accessible web stories alongside the abandonment of the community on the site killed that momentum and the story never got it back.>>94291952This is why the most common answer these days is just to adapt the Brothers War/Artifacts Cycle/Weatherlight Saga as a whole. Its a complete story that has a lot of space to do things and is directly tied into some of the most iconic parts of Magic. But it will never be done because its old.

>>94291965>the Gatewatch Era was building up a community complete with fan art, lore speculation, and shipping.I actually used tumblr until about 2020 or so because I lost it somehow and never cared enough to try and get it back, but the absolute most I ever saw was this picture and not much else, at most posting an excerpt from the story (which was at the time mostly garbage with a few good spots like ixalan)Returning to novels SHOULD have been a good thing and was wotc's big push to get back into the story mattering...except they fucked that up as much as they possibly could.Reminder that there exists an entire finished and unpublished novel for theros beyond death that was outright deleted because weisman was such a fucking hack they didn't even want to have his name on another product again.Sadly, Eldraine's story was actually pretty good, but again, too little too late.

>>94292023I'm surprised they haven't gotten rid of the RL yet, many more people would have liked that avenue for jewishness over UB (I'm even fine with UB, mostly)
>>94291994Question, do you remember the "MTG Illuminati"?The circles I was in used to put so much focus on that group of randoms because they consistently posted about magic and had MTG characters in their URL (also one of them did amateur NSFW art). Then there was that bald dad guy who was always super friendly and I think made his own youtube vids for a bit if I recall. And then there was that one artist with the semi-chibi style that did a lot of merfolk and Jace x Vrasha art, or that one girl who came in towards the end and self inserted as Liliana and was really pushing Lili x Jace.I mostly bring these up to see if we were in the same circles, because the one I was in was constantly bustling with new shit to my memory even if it was mostly gayshit.

>>94292050What kind of drawback would make a zero mana draw 2 spell fair?
>>94292082Oh I didn't mean a 1:1Just make it that artifact but you can only activate it twice a turn or something, or some other random thing so it's still similar
>>94292042Then it sounds like you were mostly out of the loop in that regard. The "MTG Illuminati" were a set of tumblr users: chandra-nalaar, nissa-revane (both cosplayers and I think also sisters), Sarkhanvoltswagon, Bace-Jeleren (the nsfw art chick), and a dude with newphyerxia for his url I forget the full name of. Basically they were just a group of random 20 something users back in 2015, but because of the character name url's, constant posting, and the fact they replied to each others content all the time meaning their followers did so also, meant that they were seen as tastemakers and a "core of the community, despite them all basically thinking the whole situation was absurd since they were just a group of friends.Regardless the main MTG fandom sprung up around them. Also that merfolk artist was named Isharton or something on those lines.
>>94292082Exiling five lands you control.
>>94292091>SarkhanvoltswagonI think I vaguely remember this name too
>>94292095Yeah, also their was a nascent industry of MTG comic content in the vein of those gaming webcomics mainly focused on the game itself in the early 2010s, Carboard Crack with the biggest winner of them and even then barely.Rhystic Studies did a good subsstack article on the death of MTG as a community not jsut for lore but as a whole.Their was something there, something that in terms of tournaments echoed from the 2000s onward and along the way picked up more and more of magic in its wake. The issue is that over time it withered away, War of the Spark signaled a fatal injury for the mtg community as it was and had grown over the years. leaving it to be replaced by UB fans filling up the spaces where home grown endeavors have slowly withered and died.https://rhysticstudies.substack.com/p/who-will-write-our-histories
>>94292124I don't think the fandom circa bolas arc was anything to write home about but it was technically better, I guess.
>>94292127That's the point, it was still better and it could of continued getting better, but something about WAR and the sets after it killed all community momentum in a way mtg never even bothered trying to recover from.
This budget deck is pretty cool
>>94291965Nu-WotC already tried bringing back Urza and the Phyrexians, and it was a Pet Semetary abomination, because the current writers grew up on tumblr slashfic instead of classic lit and fantasy pulp. Asking them to recreate classic stories but with more LGBTQ BIPOCs is a mistake--that's all DC and Marvel have done for 12 years, and none of it is worth reading.
>>94292134Oh well the "something" from WAR isn't some unknown force, it was easily the worst narrative they've ever had, arguably even worse than origins/bfz which was the start of the gay balls arc.Tumblr was upset because of Decidedly Male and normal people were upset because the writing was garbage
>>94292138Most of the BRO stories were ok, not amazing but ok.They managed to have Urza as an actual character for like 2 minutes without making a fool of themselves which was something I didn't think they could have done.
actually wait I forgot like a quarter of the bro stories weren't even about the war but were just some random queen being a retardthey were ok besides that
>>94290161Well buckle up partner, it's about to get a bit Brokeback Mountain in these parts.
>>94292148I was a little surprised at how generally sympathetic they were to Urza in that story where Teferi talks to him in the aftermath of the Sylex's explosion.
>>94292142that's trueForvige me for my grandstanding but, ill fully admit, I love magic. Not just as a game but as a story and as a community and I know that there were and still are some who loved it in the same ways I do.But in the face on fiduciary responsibility love is not enough, history is not enough, a shared culture is not enough, it could never of been enough. But it still fucking sucks. And seeing people who never properly engaged with what was their through no fault of their own write it all off as pointless and meaningless in the face of Spider-Man TM is a bitter point that I want to push up against. To say "we were here" in the face of an uncaring tide.
>>94292086How about something like this?
>>94292180Yea it was half-decent, a compliment for how bad they could have retroactively messed up the story/character.
>>94292184fine enough though if I was gonna make a ccg post about it I'd probably make it closer to the actual thing, like it's 2+2=4 instead of 2+5=7 or something, but it's a nice design
>>94292180Urza from the end of The Brothers War up through Timestreams was always quite sympathetic. It wasn't until Bloodline that dickhead Urza came around. From the final Chapter of The Brothers War 1/Urza felt the effects of his own assault. Something had changed within him, and once the door was open it could not be closed. He could sense the world around him by more than sight and feeling. He could feel the power within himself and the power within the land that surrounded him. The land was in pain. No, not just in Argoth, but in all of Terisiare. He and his brother had plundered the earth for its riches, and damaged it almost beyond repair. Now it cried out to him, in a maddening chorus, crying for respite. Crying for release. There was another flicker of motion to his left, and he raised the Mightstone against a new assault. But this time it was Tawnos staggering out of the smoky fog, coughing and clutching a backpack. The student looked ancient as he staggered forward. "Urza," said the former apprentice. "The machines no longer obey." Urza looked over the battlefield and saw it with new eyes. Where before there was the confusion, he now saw another puppeteer pulling the strings. Pulling the strings of the artifact creatures. The strings of his brother. His own strings. "There was a demon, a creature from Phyrexia," continued Tawnos. "He ambushed me and Ashnod. Ashnod said I should bring you this." He pulled a bowl-shaped sylex from the pack. "Urza, are you listening?" Urza looked at the bowl and heard the cries of the land around them.
>>94292183The (unfortunate) thing is is that wotc is the one who made it pointless and meaningless.Even in the gay balls arc they had ixalan, one of their better blocks storywise (the stories that doug made for shadow block were also pretty good) they managed to make Jace Beleren, their supposed franchise protagonist, a real character that most people even liked, a 180 from the stain on the franchise that was dragged around as counterspell flavor text.chrThen next set they hired toeman and ruined all of that for a good few years. That was likely, if any point the death knell for any serious story going forward in the modern age.
>>942922032/"I hear," he said. "More than you realize, now, I hear." "We should retreat," said Tawnos, "get away from here. If your brother finds us ..." "My brother has been here once," said Urza, "and he will be coming back." He took the bowl from Tawnos's hands, and as he touched the sylex, the cries of the land became more intense in his ears. They rose in a deafening cacophony of pain that only he could hear. "Ashnod says you are supposed to fill it with memories of the land," said Tawnos. The scholar's mouth worked a moment, then he added, "I don't know what that means." "I know," said Urza, and he did know. The moment he took the bowl from Tawnos he knew what its purpose was and how he was to use it. The understanding flowed through him like an electric jolt. "We should go," said Tawnos. "No," said Urza, softly. "Urza, you're hurt—" began Tawnos, but Urza cut him off. "No," he repeated. "It ends here, for me and for him." For a moment, his eyes focused on Tawnos, and Urza said, "You must go and find a safe refuge. Find some place to take cover." "Urza, I'm not..." Do Not Argue!" thundered Urza, and his eyes flashed with rage. "Find the deepest cave, the furthest tree, the strongest fortification. Find anything to protect yourself and Do It Now!" Tawnos was gone, and Urza was alone on the hillside. Only for a moment, for there was a clanking and clattering to his right, down toward the valley. The noise grew louder by the moment. Mishra was returning, and he had brought a dragon engine with him. The mists parted as the great machine rumbled up the hill toward the wounded scholar, and Urza mentally corrected himself. Mishra had brought the dragon engine as a part of himself..
>>94292192I was going for the "two free cards" angle. Maybe if it cost 0 and only needed two charge counters?
>>94292211yea that's what I meant when I said 2+2=4 with the 2 "missed" draws for the charge counters and then the two extra from the effect.
>>942922103/Most of the flesh had burned away from his brother's form, leaving only a maze of coiled wire and black cables beneath, oozing fluid. The cables had reached out from within his body and merged with those of the dragon engine. This one had been the one at Korlinda, and similar cables had extruded from it to join with Mishra. Machine and man had become one entity. Mishra's face was largely intact, save for a long, burned scar along one side. The tatters of flesh flapped against the metal beneath as his mechanical jaw opened and closed, bellowing threats. There was a dripping redness along that side that might have been blood. Urza saw the abomination that was his brother and knew what must be done. He spoke a word and pulled the energies of the land to him. In an instant, the hillside at his feet slid away, crashing toward the Mishra engine. The man machine was caught by the cascading earth and dragged backward, down toward the valley floor. It would not stop his hate-filled brother, Urza realized, but it would slow him down. And that was enough. Urza sat cross-legged with the bowl in his lap. The runes within the bowl spiraled toward the center, but he did not need to read them. Whatever force now coursed through his veins allowed him comprehension, allowed him to commune with the artifact as he now heard the cries of the land. Blood from the gushing wound on his forehead dribbled into the bowl and filled the carved runes with crimson. Urza summoned his memories, the memories of his life and his studies, and willed them into the bowl. He thought of Argive and of Korlis. He thought of his towers and workshops and of the orniary in Kroog. He thought of lands he had flown over and fought over. He thought of the Kher Ridges and the Caverns of Koilos.
>>942922164/nd he thought of a small encampment, now forgotten by most living men and buried by sand, where students of an old woman dug for artifacts of an ancient and forgotten people. Where two brothers learned about the Thran. The Mishra machine had recovered from the avalanche and was now charging up the hill, its dragon head screaming. Urza looked up and saw his brother's face, half-torn from the metallic skull beneath, and wept for him. The artificer's tears joined the blood and memories in the bowl, and he felt the power well up around him. The power filled him now, flowing to him from all the lands and all the memories of the things that he had done. His regrets and pride and anger and solitude all poured into the bowl, filling it to the brim, filling it to the bursting point. And beyond. The Mishra machine had attained the hilltop now, and its serpent head loomed high above him. Mishra was grinning, the smile half-flesh and half-steel. It was the grin of a man triumphant. Mishra was screaming something, but Urza no longer heard his voice. All he heard was the land, crying for release. And Urza released the power. A flash at the base of the bowl spread outward and upward, a new sun brought to the earth and igniting everything it touched. Urza felt the flash for a moment and smiled as it washed over him. His last sight was of his brother, melded to the machine, as both were caught in the blast. The smile on his brother's face turned into a twisted parody as the systems of his body failed. Then the Mishra dragon reduced to its smallest particles, and those particles were caught by the force of the explosion Urza had called into being. They were blown far, far away. And Urza was gone as well. ...
>>94292216Epilogue 5/7What had once been a verdant coastline was now awash with debris. The flotsam of great trees and the jetsam of huge boulders had been driven miles into shore, creating a blasted region along the shore, devoid of life. Among the wreckage was a large metal box, seven feet in length, three feet in width and height. It had weathered the destruction and came to rest among the other far-flung remains of what had been Argoth. Urza stood alongside the box and pressed his hand against the lid. The box's top slid along its casters, revealing the slumbering form of his former apprentice. Tawnos took a breath, then sat bolt-upright, gasping for air. His face was pale, and he was covered with dead skin that had flaked off but had nowhere to go within his confinement. Urza waited for Tawnos to regain his composure, standing as patient as a statue. Tawnos took a deep breath, held it, then took a second one. Then he looked around at the devastation that surrounded them. "It is over," said Urza, sitting on the edge of the box. Tawnos gulped and looked around. "This was the safest hiding place I could think of," he said. Urza did not reply. Tawnos said, "Your brother?" "Dead," said Urza. "I ..." He shook his head. "The demon, the Phyrexian, killed my brother long ago. I never realized it." "Where are we?" asked Tawnos. Urza looked around and sighed, deeply. "The southern coast of Yotia." Tawnos blinked. "It has changed." "The world has changed," said Urza, "because of what we did. Because of what I did." awnos climbed out of the box, and Urza helped him. Tawnos felt weak from his incarceration and rubbed his arms and legs, both to shake off the dead skin and to restore circulation. It was cold on this shore, colder than Tawnos remembered it as a youth.
>>94292215Like this?
>>942922316/7"I need one last task from you, my former student," said Urza. "Name it," said Tawnos. "I want you to go west. Find the remains of the Union, the scholars of the ivory towers. Tell them what happened here. Tell them what we did, and what we failed to do. See to it that they do not do the same. I trust you to do this." Tawnos looked at the older man, but it seemed to him that Urza was no longer old. His hair was blond again and his shoulders straight. But his eyes were old beyond years and pained beyond mortal hurt. "You can always trust me," said Tawnos. "Where are you going?" Urza turned from his former pupil. "Away," he said after a short while. "I am going ... away." "It looks as if we could use your help here," said Tawnos. Urza made a noise that Tawnos thought was a nervous laugh. "I don't think the land could survive any more of my help. I need to ... I need to go away. And think by myself. Where I will not harm others." Tawnos nodded, and said, "I don't know if there is any place that far away." rza shook his head and said, "There are places far beyond the land of Terisiare, far beyond world of Dominaria. When I poured my memories into the sylex, I saw them. I see many things that I had never seen before." He turned back to Tawnos, and the Master Scholar saw Urza's eyes. They were no longer human eyes, but rather two gemstones, radiating with a cascade of multicolored hues: green, white, red, black, and blue.

>>94292203>>94292210>>94292216>>94292219>>94292231>>942922377/7Mightstone and Weakstone, reunited at last, within the surviving brother. The image was only for an instant; then Urza's eyes were normal again. Urza smiled. "I must go away," he repeated. Tawnos nodded slowly, and the man with human/crystalline eyes stood. "You have long been a student," said Urza. "Now go be a teacher." As he spoke, Urza began to fade from view. Slowly the color drained from him, leaving only outlines; then they too faded. "Teach them of our triumphs and our mistakes," said a distant voice. "And tell Kayla to remember me not..." "... As you were, but as you tried to be," finished Tawnos, but he was speaking to empty space. Urza had passed from the world into greater worlds that only his crystalline eyes could see. Tawnos looked around, but there was no sign of life. He struck inland, hoping to get past the worst of devastation before he had to travel west. He recognized no familiar landmarks, and he had the feeling that he would not for a long time. Tawnos wondered how bad the devastation truly was. And as Tawnos walked inland, he was greeted by the first flakes of snow drifting down a chill wind.Hope some enjoys the excerpt. I think it gets across who Urza is before the ages take their toll very well.
>>94292235Yea.
>>94292241Yea back when mtg had actual books and not semi-disposable webfiction (some of it's ok webfiction but still) characters felt a lot more like characters and not bad jokes.Doug was pretty good at that too, thankfull.
>>94289559Did they collab with Gifting now?
We got a thing.
>>94290206I've been playing SRW games the last couple months so seeing WotC's crossover stuff feels really trite in comparison.
>>94290153>>94290158>>94290162I never understood the appeal of mugen. all the sprites by different people clashed so bad and ronald was OP anyway so no fun with gameplay either
>>94290384The third plane is Muraganda, it was all-but confirmed. We saw a very primal-looking jungle place, and Mark Rosewater mentioned it has dinosaurs.
>>94290523Well, the Brood or whatever they're called are clearly not from a plane we know of. Kamigawa, Kaladesh, Ravnica and Capenna could all easily each have their own teams, and the rest are likely sort of grab-bags or other "from planes unknown" types.
>>94290275There's no set way to hold chopsticks, just do whatever works for you.
>>94292406literal mugen was less of a game and more of a thing where you just watch NPCs act retardedrivals of aether mugen had a surprising amount of actual characters, most of which were at least as good as the "real" characters in the gamethe clashing sprites were also funny but yea if you wanted to take it "seriously' then ronald and the other joke characters weren't something to touch
>>94290597I cannot believe how much I dislike this artist. Why does his every art look like it is some shitty mobile game advert and why did Wizards hire him?
>>94292430You're confusing moba splash screen with mobile game
>>94292257>>94292257What gets me about the novels / webfiction is how ridiculously stingy they're being with it. "Sorry, only 7 stories this time because we had 3 extra last set" - what's this 10-person startup bullshit? You'd think with how much money they're raking in, they'd be able (and willing) to pump resources into the development of their own IP, even if the team/department responsible for it stays in the red for a few years. Genre fiction writers are some of the most underpaid professionals in existence, it can't be that hard to produce a solid fantasy book and shill it in a way that leads to more revenue down the line. But apparently all projects that aren't profitable in literally the next quarter get shot down.
>>94292451Yeah, welcome to capitalism. 40k having so much fiction is honestly a weird case, because I'm fairly sure Black Library stuff doesn't make much money, if any really. But it engenders goodwill and enfranchisement. Magic's had some good stories in the past but rarely have they been how people get into Magic.
>>94291509yeah, I even got some digimon cards with my shipment as padding that were textured foils. in mtg those would be extremely rare>>94291657magic has textured foils too
Baleful Strix-er.
>>94292406MUGEN is just an engine for people to make their fighting games in, some people just made characters and explored interesting/unique designs, like for example Football (Soccer) Len is a character that attacks by controlling and kicking a football at the opponent, and can't do damage when she doesn't have the ball. That is not a character you'd see in any fighting game at the time, and quite a bunch of MUGEN standalone characters are like that. And some people like the experimental stuff so MUGEN appeals to them. It's like what I feel towards MH1, a bunch of cards were experimental (like Segovian Angel, that spell whose oracle text is just "Cascade. Retrace." and it does nothing else, and so on) and those were the most interesting cards from the set. I wasn't playing back in Time Spiral so I can't feel the same "wow experimental stuff, nice" feeling towards those cards and if you were, and are questioning why i mentioned MH1 instead, I'm jealous of you but also my condolences.

>>94292203Honestly, The Brothers War made me dislike Urza. I'm not out here saying Mishra did nothing wrong, but I am out here saying that Mishra is the more sympathetic of the two brothers.
>>94290628So you can use it on milled cards or there's a ruling preventing it?
>>94292695Why wouldn't you be able to?
>>94291965As much as the Gatewatch story was very marvely, it had the benefit of giving us that's important to get people invested in a story: central figures. While the cast was shifting a little all the time, having a core cast made it so that if I picked up the story for the next set, I'd be eased in with someth familiar. Also while it's not quite the same, being able to stay on planes for longer meant we got to get a feel for them. Also, that whole era was planned out to last a while. So the story had time to percolate.Part of the problem with the story post war of the spark, outside of the shift to books killing the enthusiasm, was that we weren't really given that. They were rapid fire switching between planes, storylines, and characters made it harder to keep being invested. And when they tried to have the big payoff in March of the Machines, it failed because they'd gone too fast and not given us a chance to actually get invested in any of this. And now they've simply given up.
>>94292695Only if the card you're targeting was milled this turn.
>>94292572>No flash.It's trash.
>>94292713Well, we just had Kellan as a link between stories. And now I guess it's Jace kinda?
>>94292392Damn shame Olivia isn't 2cmc.Could have had some fast reanimator action.
>>94292135Post decklist I like what I'm seeing
>>94292766I guess the "Beleren family" or whatever you'd call the trifecta of Jace, Vraska and Loot are the current throughline, though much less overtly than Kellan. Aetherdrift'll probably have Vraska in it or something, and then they'll all show up on Tarkir for reasons.
Here's an idea for a set, entire theme of the set is based off Heavy Metal, Power Metal, etc.
>>94289638Why are companies obsessed with lying? Do they think their consumers retarded?
>>94292819Anything goes as long as they can get away with it.
>>94292451Well you have to understand, Hasbro is up shit creek without a paddle.Wizards in just their money printer to them, even if there's benefit in building their brand they'd rather make money now and not collpase. The CEOs of Wizards and Hasbro also haven't been of the best quality and they're explicitly going with an online first business model for Wizards, trying to turn MTG and DnD into video games.Which is almost directly counter to MTGs and DnDs appeal as hobby games.

Help a newfag out please? I'm really new to magic and I've always wanted to get in but never knew how. Specially because some cards are WAY too expensive and because I don't know how to get to commander. I might buy a commander precon but that's not the point here. Yesterday I was looking into foundation and was a bit cofused what should I get, the beginner box or the starter collection. Looking into the beginner box I kinda liked the vampire deck that comes with and my gf was interested in the cats deck that comes there. Is the beginner box the best pick here or the starter collection? Is the box good to "evolve" from it? What do you guys recommend? I might get the foundation bundle later on. is the beginner box worth it? Does it have mythic cards? Are they good? I mean are any of the cards there good? Please help
>>94293027Get the Beginner Box, despite it's name the Starter Collection is meant to "Supercharge your collection" for new players, whatever that means. It has some commander staples, but only the cheap ones and a deck building guide, but there are better ones on the internet. While the Beginner Box has 2 decks ready to play 10 Jumpstart Packs, two how to play guides, and two playmats. It doesn't include lands though so you'll probably want to grab some lands somewhere, most stores give them out for free, but other than that it's good(?)Ideally there's be a 1 player Beginner Box product as well so there's a lower starting price for people who want to jump in, but that's me complaining about Wizards lack of good on boarding product.https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/feature/collecting-foundationshttps://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/foundations-starter-collection-contents
If anyone here still plays the game, how does UW Tempo w/ Oculus play in Standard? Considering it going into the next season or two
>>94293008>Flying Artifact
Thanks anon I'll go with the Beginner box. Would be a wise upgrade getting the Starter collection later on or just go for the foundation bundle?
>>94293096 was meant for you anon >>94293069
>>94293090It's more likely than you think
>>94293027Beginner box is the "I have no idea how to play and need a tutorial to walk me through a sample game" product.
>>94293096Well if you're going to buy one no matter what, the Starter Collection has an MSRP of 59.99 compared to the Bundle's 49.99. But the Starter Collection is the better deal. The Bundle only contains 9 booster packs, 20 foil basic lands and 20 non-foil basic lands(lands are free everywhere else so this add nothing value wise), 1 oversized spindown life counter, and a dekc box. While the starter 387 cards from a list 100% of the time, 90 basic lands, 3 booster packs, and some misc objects.Despite the higher price point the Starter Collection is clearly the better one value wise, everything in the Bundle you can get elsewhere cheaper or at least in higher quality.https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/foundations-starter-collection-contents
>>94293069Beginner box actually has enough lands, because you get them in all of jumpstart packs (which are unique to beginner box, btw, and all of them are legal in standard, while "normal" jumpstart isn't)

>>94292819>Do they think their consumers retarded?Looking at the sales and media, they're not really proving them wrong
>>94293084It’s a pretty solid choice capable of some explosive starts. Tends to be pretty good against black-based removal tribal-style decks because of all the redundancy in reanimation and whatnot. Depending on how much mono red and therefore mono black you expect it can be an anti-anti-meta pick
6 prizes is superior to 40 life
>>94293292Think it can stay reasonably viable in Standard for a year? It does give me an excuse to get Oculus for Pioneer and Modern as well but I'd rather not invest too hard into Standard, so this would probably be my one deck for the format
>>94293305Shields are better than prizesGiving more cards to the one in the lead is dumb
