They're on Scribd, they're not updated, 90% of their content are dead links and empty folders, the guy in charge does a lousy job, and our best troves were showing up in Google searches. So, solutions. Here are a few.

* encrypting the links in Da Docs twice, once with abbreviations and leet speek and once using base64 encryption. Put the key in Da Faq to re-emphasize "if you do not read it WE WILL KNOW."
* start another document with the same purpose and call it something else, so it takes a few weeks to months for the leeches to catch on and they keep hanging out for a new edition of Da Docs that never drop.
* create a document with easy instructions on starting a trove, along with the stats on each storage option, so we can readily encourage fledlging trovekeepers.
* Start a misinformation campaign, bombarding large companies with emails reporting innocuous shares full of junk .zip files labelled to look like the real thing, so they spend all their time taking down chaff instead of the real stuff.
* change the nature of Da Docs so that they only contain links to OOP materials; expired license materials; freeware games, and anything the publisher sees us sharing and nods approvingly (believe it or not, everything by R. Talsorian - ever wonder why Cyberpunk troves never get hit?). Then, start a FIFTH document with the illicit stuff, with a completely different name. Preferably something so common it breaks attempts to google it.

We have to work smarter, not harder. At this point the worst case scenario would be multiple Tabletop companies forming an industry body and leaning on copyright breaches like the American Recording Industry Association do... luckily they couldn't collectively organise a snort of cocaine in a West London council estate.

You're right, I misunderstood what you were conveying. You lay out many good points, but a lot of the negatives you do list are precisely the point of da docs in my opinion. The cycle of reuploads and new faces is a perk, not a weakness. You are completely right on the difficulty of maintaining the individual troves, but public monetary aid would no doubt blow our cover even more. Not that that's the only solution, but you no doubt understand encryption and the like are going to need much more organization. Which inevitably leads to exclusivity. We may not know the severity of the takedowns entirely, but lets be honest, if it was that severe I'd assume a collection on this scale would have never taken off. Trust me, anon, I appreciate the opsec concern and the ideas, but that's leaning into a much bigger and more organized group of isolated hoarding. For the sake of preservation, I completely agree for the change, but if preservation was the real goal this thread ain't doing it. That's from my admittedly short experience, so maybe we're just gonna disagree. You're obviously much more in the know than I am but I do hope you take into account the good that we currently do. If you want to get organized to that degree, you do you. Constant trove reuploads tend to beat a big public hoard in terms of longevity if I had to pick. Then again there's probably some absolute lad with a dedicated server rack for all this out there so we'll be fine.
