Lava gnomes, earth gnomes, crystal gnomes.
Deep dwarves, sky dwarves, abyss dwarves.
Cloud elves, northern elves, sea elves.
Orcs of iron, orcs of bronze, orcs of mythril.
Vampires, undead.
Harpies, minotaurs, fishmen.
Yes, no humans. Be creative.

Although I must admit, stating so many races makes placing them a lot harder.

The undead lands are relatively pristine, but there are some healing sites of desolation where the humans they once were stripped the land for their own need. There are also big, slightly glowing solar craters where the lava gnomes historically landed their invasion arks. The undead leaders fucking hate lava gnomes, almost as much as they do iron orcs.

Vampire lands have had their beauty enhanced further by their magic, but sometimes the laws of physics break catastrophically and a mountain turns to beef jelly.

A more elegant way of magically improving the land is what elves do. They actively and passively make the spaces they inhabit more orderly, but as a result become more uncomfortable venturing outside their long-settled territory. You can find their communities all throughout the sub-polar north, typically set apart by their gentler and more bounteous surroundings. There is even rumored to be a secret elven emperor who keeps his people hidden on top of the clouds!

Gnomes were the only race more advanced than men, which allowed them to survive even the surface of the desolate pole by building vast, magically-shielded cities connected by highways placed only slightly underground. Orbital lenses are deployed to grant the sun's nourishment to fields, gardens, and even certain prestigious buildings. Intriguingly, rumors persist of a lost gnomish kingdom apart from the realms of Crystal and Earth.

Dwarves and orcs, on the other hand, must make do with what they have. I will continue this later, so someone can just move onto culture for now.

Dude, you're supposed to describe the landscape. Definitely not whatever this was.

The western subcontinent and two great islands are distant from the primal chill of the pole, and life flourishes more readily there as a result. The minotaurs' island, however, takes this to the extreme. Verdant valleys and plains give way to jungles and wetlands in the far south. The minotaurs, being optionally omnivorous, can survive from foraging alone, albeit at a lower population level than what they currently have.

The interior of the isle of bronze orcs (and the entirety of the isle of mithril orcs) is a dry, rocky places where temperatures can rise to heats rarely seen in this world. The rest of the island and its northern archipelago are fertile enough, although barrier mountains isolate eastern seaboard somewhat.

Although not as harsh as the rest of the landmass, the western subcontinent still makes life a challenge. Much of it is less-fertile highland, which makes the presence of orcish cities rather impressive in its own right. Unfortunately, most of the land's best natural harbors are located on the northern and southern peninsulas.

Culture: It is commonly known all races came from the same common ancestor, and diversified and niche'd to the civilized races we see today, each of these races worships these precursor people differently. example. Bronze orcs believe the precursor were massive warmongers and worship thru ritual war and sacrifice.

This will answer the question of where the humans, are while also leaving them aside completely.

The undead forsake life for immortality. In their barren lands, ghosts and mummies spend eternity in the pursuit of art, magic, craftsmanship and petty drama. But most of them just gave up and wander aimlessly in the ruins. They do not expand, but they guard the remains of their past with ferocity.

The vampire's solution to mortality is less efficient and much more depraved. To keep their strength and sanity, they must gorge on the flesh of the living, and there is not enough for everyone. A small elite of pirate lords and slave owners constantly competes for each other' ressources, lest they turn into one of the degenerate strigoï that lurk beyond their cities' walls.

The harpies clans were too proud to integrate their neighbors, and rejected the gith of undeath. They spend their time in cattle theft, small can feuds and the occasional raid in undead lands, quickly followed by a desperate defense against the inevitable retribution.

The northern elves fancy themselves the heirs of the past empire. Their king expands his domain in glorious conquest. One day, the entire world will bow to them and recieve enlightenment in return. They just need a bit of convincing.

The orcs of iron are a mosaic of republics and princedoms locked in a complex web of trade pacts and simmering conflicts. They are competitive, industrious, smart and quick to adopt new technologies Many enterprizing young orcs try to build new colonies and trade outposts on foreign lands.

In contrast, the orcs of bronze are stuck in a past age. Large hordes of nomadic herders have to share this harsh lands with god-kings ruling from their gargantuan ziggurats. They are supersticious, and their oracles are the true masters of the land.

The mithril orcs, as they are called, are neer seen outside of their majestuous armors. To the bronze orcs, they are a people of supernatural being who sometimes visit them. To everyone else, they are a fairytale.

Minotaurs are lonely savages. Their lush land and their immense strength means they have little need for social interactions. When they do meet, there are usually great displays of strength, and music to establish hierarchy. Each minotaur owns a large teritory that loosely connect with others, depending on their proximity. They tend to build rough stoneworks to disorient intruders.

not very inspired by the others. If anyone wants to fill the gaps, they are welcome.

I'll do religions:

Gnomes, being disgusting savages, just venerate primitive tribal totems while they shit in the rusted remains of what a glorious human colony. These totems are based off the oral tradition describing human made artifacts as no gnome can make his own. They can only steal.

Dwarves, a true successor species, worship a pantheon of deities eerily remiscient of higher human cultures. The Allfather, in particular, is a figure of import to the Dwarves who traded his eye for knowledge.

Elves worship nature or some dumb elf shit, stuff to take Elfen 'mens' mind off the She-Elves and Dwarves.

Orcs are battle thralls. They worship degenerated figures from their broken oral traditions. Among them is the vile creature Asher.

Vampires fear the light, but they do venerate this 'Caine' figure that appears from time to time. Vampire religion portrays them as the cast off creations of a vengeful singular god. Or 'Gods,' if you believe the Nephitic cycle.

These guys worship deities not far off from our own mythologies.

Nah. The religion one feels too much like a dorf player shitpost. Especially when he implies Elven men are effeminate cuckolds.
>>
>>94401382
We honestly should just start over from scratch or at least from when the map was posted.
>>
>>94401855
Agreed. Maybe make the posting rules less stringent so we don't get a shitpost like
>RAEP Orcs
or whatever as the defining religion or culture for the setting.
>>
>>94402351
>Maybe make the posting rules less stringent
How would you change them?
>>
>>94402626
It's this:
>First post decides races.
I'm not against said system in principle, but all it takes is one guy going
>Piss wizards only
To make the thread go haywire. I'm fine if the races are decided on but all it takes is one shitpost to send things toppling over.
>>
>>94402626
I gotta agree with this anon.
>>94402733
You already saw conflicting views for the race post because the time stamps were very close so the strict rule, while I agree with it as it enforces consistency, can result in situations like this.

Agreed. It was honestly as uninspired as on can get I'll let this thread die and make a new one with a different map so we can start over.
How should we decide on which additions to pick in your guys opinions?
