In a setting founded on hyperbole, they remain one of the most unique factions in terms of looks and appearances. They are the worst aspects of all dwarfs and, as another anon commented, take on the role of Tolkien's orcs with their industrial mindset that degrades the world around them. I'd also like to take the time to shit on Cathay since they contrast the chaos dwarfs entirely in quality. Cathay looks like it was designed by a chinese mobile game company and its lore feels like it was written by the CCP. China has a long history of tyrannical emperors (Mao Zedong being the most recent) who decimated their populations with their insane mindsets while also maintaining order. We're talking about individuals who had servants tortured for fun and were obsessed with immortality through alchemy. The dragon siblings could have been insane variations of that, figures who fight chaos but are completely unhinged. Instead we now have a faction that ultimately just appears to be the best place to be in. The Empire is rife with insanity and disorder, the high elves are arrogant and dying, the dwarfs are too stubborn, sensitive, and are dying, Kislev (which is already a mangled mess in lore) is constantly being beaten down by the forces of chaos, but then there's Cathay. Their dragon rulers are mostly fine, they have a big wall keeping out chaos, and not only did they invent gunpowder, they perfected it. They're shit. Chaos is also filled with retardation and nearly every warrior fighting for them are just equally retarded. At least with the chaos dwarfs, its purely transactional and there's a benefit to working with Hashut since he doesn't just randomly mutate his followers for shits and giggles or fuck them over because he just feels like it. Unlike the Dark Elves, who serve Chaos and are in denial of it, the chaos dwarfs are honest with their behavior and they also look better.
