Was original Nagash the worst model ever put out? I still remember it getting relentlessly laughed at right through the '90s and early '00s.

It certainly had that reputation when I played in the early 00's

Worst Gary Morley sculpt certainly. Definitely not the worst GW miniature. Not even of that era. Plus, far more horrendous CAD shit has come out of the design studio in the last few years.
Definitely not even close to the worst mini ever put out, the late 70's and early 80's were full of talentless sculptors trying to get that D&D money.
For all that, there is charm in how silly it is.

Original version was rejected by marketing.
Morley made a new, less grimey head, just a huge dumb skull, they'll have to reject this one as well and accept the original head, that's what he thought would happen.
Also he just recently sold some of the casts of the OG head he still had lying around.

there's a whole bunch of mid-late 2000s fanatic specialist games sculpts that are just total crap, badly sculpted, scaled weirdly, oddly shallow detail, and multi-part metals on top of it. Fanatic necromunda sculpts were some serious garbage, and a huge downgrade from the older necromunda sculpts, however I can't decide if the ratskins or the scavvies are the worst.

Such a thing no longer exists. At least two sculptors are mandated to work on every miniature. Sometimes they would even take miniatures designed by different people, rip them apart and smash together the parts they liked, as happened with the dogshit Liche Dragon for TOW (the dragon and the howduh come from different projects, and it sure does show)

The textured surface and hard right angles are entirely at odds with all eldar models before and since. The feet and wings are especially fucked compared to the previous model.
>>
>>94675427
>right wing interferes with shape and pose, conflicting with howdah/saddle/pulpit
>head crest on monster also breaks up own shapes and motion
>tail spike is generic while rest is hyperegyptian
>tactical rocks again
That's before we even get into how retarded the howdah/saddle/pulpit design is
>>

Speaking of Jes, he must be close to retirement age, but I think he is still at the studio. Is he still the main design guy/overseer for 40K? When he did the official Warhammer podcasts he said he was. Darren Latham is listed as Lead Miniatures Designer on his IG, so I am assuming he's like second in charge, if Jes is still there? Or is Latham number one now?

Also I'd imagine there is a different creative lead for the Age of Sigmar minis, so many miniatures and the ranges are stylistically pretty different. Also I think especially this year AOS sculpts have been mogging the 40K stuff hard.
>>
>>94667946
There is definitely something off about them but I'm not sure if I can name what is it exactly. Is that the poses feel somehow very stiff and the guns are needlesly large. I mean the whole flying marines idea is pretty stupid I agree, but if you really want to go that way what would you do to improve this design?

I think that possessed are best when you have them being DIY with optional add on sprues. Other than the one in the middle and the bottom right, I don’t really care for these.

It just has a stupid design. The detail is fine but it’s so stupid to make a space sleigh. Completely out of tone with the rest of the line’s aesthetic.

Absolute dogshit. I will excuse
some of the older models because of age but this just looks lazy. It looks like a literal stormcast with CAD designs placed onto it in a digital modeling software.
>>94676646
Not a fan of these. They work for the eldar because the eldar are supposed to have the slender look to everything they own. Even their “heavy” equipment looks like it can float while the Imperium should maintain a blend of WW1, cyber punk and diesel caterpillar design. Especially for the imperial guard who are regular soldiers instead of the warrior monks of the Space Marines.

conceptually how would aiming a human body in a power armoured suit with a jet engine strapped to the back work?

we've all seen iron man movies of course but uh I don't know if you've seen how awkward and full-attention the actual modern jet pack stuff is, not to mention the JB11 (with auto-stablizing! for the first time because it's the first time the JBs have had more than 2 engines) kicks out a lot of fumes, like a LOT of fumes that you don't want to be breathing; fine for your power armoured guy and the enemy, but not so good for your allies if they all go to sleep whenever the assault squads pass over them

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsDGHFCrVio

and the JB11 is still slow as shit with terrible accel/decel rates and see what that pilot's doing with his legs? nothing? yeah, because his cog is so low down relative to the thrust that if he kicked out, as well as the thrusters setting his legs on fire, he'd flip over and thrust+gravity welp he wouldn't have time to recover even if he was 500m up, that's a death spin auto special

then there's the Browning/Daedalus/Gravity pack everyone was raving about a few years ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgtyHS59d_c

still undergoing usefulness trials though between you and me I think it's probably not met those given that it's competing with drones that don't need training for most of its potential jobs

780kW output to move a guy "a couple of metres" above the ground in normal use, so probably only useful for mountain rescue and even then, under ideal conditions where the patient isn't laid close to the edge and, honestly, can do a lot of stuff themselves like applying bandages and splints, because once you're strapped into that thing you're not coming out without assistance; useless for boarding actions the Telegraph video envisages (like buccaneers! get it? Brexit!!!! Britain's still relevant, guys!) because a) automatic weaponry exists and b) doesn't actually shoot repulsor beams from hands

Technically speaking, Suppressors don't shoot while flying. Their jetpack is extremely small because they use it either to assist drops or to take bounding leaps to reposition quickly. The whole package is also used while stationary to counter recoil and allow them to use the massive autocannons that would otherwise very hard to use even for a marine.

GW has forgotten that their miniatures are first and foremost gaming pieces before they are display pieces.
