Given that Arks of Omen was a scavenger hunt & didn't go well, I doubt they will give us yet another scavenger hunt so soon, so unless something goes different Vulkan is on the back burner, this leaves Russ or Khan. Out of the two of them, Russ is the more attention grabbing but Khan gives them a larger canvas to play with. IfnRuss comes back it's gonna be what everyone expects. Russ has no nuance. If the Khan comes back there's a lot more to work with. Will he rejoin the fold? Fuck off to the Dark Imperium? What does he think about Gilly? Etc.

He then went into hiding for ten thousand years, possibly out of fear that his love for combat will result in his corruption by Chaos thanks to his experiences during the Battle of Terra during the Heresy.

Then, he'll be found by the Black Templars, he'll refuse to rejoin them, then the planet he's on will be attacked by Chaos and/or Xenos. Seeing the zealous ferocity with which the Black Templars fight will ignite Dorn's warrior spirit and help him realise he can also fight once more without being corrupted, if he alloys his battle focus with his faith.

He will then return as the Primarch of the Black Templars.

Introducing them with a novel series of a number of incidents on a while scale, seemingly unconnected but all lead to a big chaos win, but nobody takes credit for it. Then some AL Kit releases, and after some month of silence a single model release for alpharius.

My take from reading lore is, as Dorn gets to know Sigismund he starts to treat him like a brother instead of an underling. like he expects too much from him. they do not not have a father child relationship at all. that's what it Means when Dorn says you are not my child as it should be. Dorn literally Realized in that moment that difference between them. Its not just oh I fucked up and trusted you too much you failed me. No Its More like Dorn has given Sigusmund the benefit of the doubt like buying a two pairs of the same shoes. The timelines fits perfect.
