Players got pretty experimental with a device built by a master alchemist after they gave them the finger bone of a saint whose miracle was causing plants to grow that they fished out of the hovel of another, slightly less-successful alchemist, whose experiments turned their home and the surrounding woods into Vault 22.

It's just my PC. All of this accumulated over a year of playing. I'm a professional artist and i scribble various stuff daily. Most of these are 5 minutes-1 hour scribbles I've done of her either during session or as a warmup before I do client work or when I'm teaching during downtime when I wait for students to finish whatever assignment i give them. Some days I just do like 10-20 drawings of her simply because I'm bored. Some sessions I can shit out 3-4 pages of drawings in my book, especially during combat because she is a ranger/scout and my turns mostly consist of "pet munch this guy, I move here and shoot that guy" so I have plenty of time to scribble something up.

How hard is it to learn to draw? I'm a draftsman (sort of by trade although I just use AutoCAD since school) which is useful for drawing dimensional drawings of play maps but all my attempts at sketches are toddler tier.

It seems like a steep learning curve just to draw the retarded adventures of my Call of Cthulhu and 40k RPG adventures.

The best thing any developing artist can do to improve their art is take a life drawing class that uses real nude subjects.

Drawing from nature was outdated before we even had literature
>>
>>94749102
There are websites that you can use that have large libraries of models. If you can't find a community college that has life drawing, practicing on these websites can still help. Start with gesture drawing, then work on value scale, then learn how to blend colors by making your own color wheel.

Because not knowing when the artwork is "done" would induce a closed loop system where you always spot something missing in your work and then go down the spiral of "fixing" the same work over and over and over and over again. It's highly inefficient. It's frustrating. It will make you hate art.
>>94748635
>How hard is it to learn to draw?
That depends.
What is your goal and how much time can you spend drawing daily?
>>94748938
>The best thing any developing artist can do to improve their art is take a life drawing class that uses real nude subjects.
Wrong if you don't know what you're doing and what life drawing is for.

>What is your goal

To be able to draw character art and depictions of scenes in game to the level of say >>9472881. monocolour pencil sketches with reasonable proportions and the ability to draw things happen not just character portraits.

>How much time to practice

I could definitely sketch a bit every day. It's quite calming and since my post I've been trying to practice the whole anatomy circles thing first since it's easy to understand with my technical/mechanical drawing experience.
>>
>>94750708
>Wrong if you don't know what you're doing and what life drawing is for.
The assumption is they want to draw characters in action poses to illustrate their rpg sessions. I don't know what else you could take from their post. Life drawing will definitely improve that immensely.

assumption is a mother of all fuckups. But even if they want to draw characters, they shouldn't do life drawings but should start by drawing from head using various anatomy books that teach you how to simplify the human body to be able to draw it 360ยบ from your mind

Then work on putting/simplifying humans into simple shapes. I've put a .pdf that a lot of artists use to practice here >>94758554 . Alternatively, manga style is extremely popular because it's flexible enough for you to transition out of it or stay in it if you find it interesting and there are tons of resources online that give you character frames to work around. One more alternative is Proko. He does tons of courses and you can find some of his stuff online. It covers proper basics you need. The only thing you need to be aware is that if you cannot do more than an hour of drawing daily, don't expect fast improvements.
