What's the average kill-count of your standard line-legionary? Some novels have mentioned Kharn's running kill-tally thing in his helmet but it wasn't even past 999 so I thought it was comically low considering who he is. Any other sources? It seems like it would be one of those things that would be severely underestimated by the writers because the alternative is absurdly large numbers to account for the fact that they conquered the galaxy, similar to the rate at which planets were brought under compliance (sort of this thing we aren't meant to think about too literally).
>>94763539Can't believe that dude stole your fellblade.
Anyone bought Tortuga bay jump packs, are they bigger than GW jump packs?
People complain about the studs but this is my favourite heresy kit, all the bits and special weapon options and the kino missile launcher. I own 10 boxes.
>>94765208Yes they are, in a similar proportions as to the bodies.
>>94765246Thanks, I'll avoid them then.
>>94765211It is the best SM infantry kit of the last two decades. Even 40k marine players bought it at the time, because of all the weapons that came included with it, whilst still being a reasonable price for GW standards. It's gonna be a sad day when GW stops making it.
>>94765318I'm glad someone agrees, it was the first plastic HH infantry so it helped a lot of players get into the game with the Calth box.
Wanna run some custodes with an allied detachment of militia to represent a force at the siege of terra. Would the new cadians be fitting for imperial army draftees? They seem pretty close to the art.
>>94765439Those aren't the new cadians, they are renegades with chaos stuff removed
Is its possible to play a non loyalist army of custodes?
>>94765702This can't be a serious question.
>>94765710shitposters and idiots everywhere man.
>>94765710Well you can play non loyalist Space Wolves and Imperial Fists. I don't have all the horus heresy rule books, and Valdor went rogue after the heresy, but in a strange way as he already had a force, ships etc to go anti imperial. As if he was prepared for it in advance, and this means he and some of his custodes would have to had started, before the Emperor was entombed on his throne. But again I am mostly a kill team/w40k player, that is why I am asking. I have a custodes army, but I also like how Emperors Children stuff looks like.
>>94765760Oh wow, you must be very new to warhammer. Custodes have loyalty to the Emperor encoded into their genetic structure anon. Even Valdor, who went rogue, is still fighting for the betterment of the Imperium and Humanity, even if his methods do not align with those of the Council of Terra. Valdor is not a traitor.Custodes being non loyalists would be the same as Chaos Daemons fighting for loyalist forces out of their own free will. It just doesn't happen. The only one instance Custodes fought against the Emperor was when boarding the Vengeful Spirit, which was mostly residing inside the Warp itself at the time. And it was achieved by Horus and the power of all four Chaos Gods physically forcing the Custodes' bodies to attack the Emperor against their will.
>>94765782I did start in september after a friend gifted me his army and the Valdor book.
>>94765782ah and to not just be stupid, and a potential asshole, glad you explained it to me. Reddit talks a lot of bad about 4chan, but somehow is a lot less helpful, when someone isn't a veteran of decades of hobbying.
>>94765670I meant to add to my post but apparently just didn't that I was also considering them but stripped of chaos bits to make them look more slapped together like SoT militia might. Cadian's are cheaper though.
>>94765791That's a generous friend.>>94765819Never visited Reddit myself, it sounds like a terrible place. If you want to read about anything from warhammer lore there is lexicanum dot com. It's the best warhammer wiki site, plus lists all the sources most of the time.
i think this test terrain turned out good. now i need to do more
Burgeoning SoH anon here again. Going to start building and painting despoliers tomorrow. What are some fun ways to run them?I was thinking of 20 inside of a spartan w/ chaplain, but I’m considering 2 smaller units of 10 inductii instead. Should I put them in transports? Do they need a delivery system? I’ve also decided to increase my 2 tactical squads to 16 man each (inspired by display armies in the core rulebook). God I love infantry spam. Also, post games. >pic related
>>94765702Custodes are autistically loyal to the Emperor and will follow any orders from Him or Valdor. And RAW they are always counted as Loyalists.BUT you could imagine edge cases of the Emperor's will - as perceived by the Custodes - or their own appreciation of the situation going against the practical goals of other Imperial forces. They could be absolutely paranoid about every non-Custodes being a potential traitor and culling them at the slightest sign of insubordination.
>>94765835Well he gave up all his stuff, as he was being shipped off to war, so he wouldn't need it anymore. and better to give it away to friends, then have his mother or sister throw them out an hour after he is gone. Bit sad to be happy from a friends unluck, but it let me play some w40k, but the play group evaporated as more and more guys went away. And where I am now, after moving, the only played games are Horus Heresy and Old World. Old World looks very nice, but I have no army to play it. So the only option is to play Horus Heresy, plus most of the people also speak english, so I don't have to use my own language to expose myself.
>>94765907ah so they are like the 4th Guards Tank Division. they think everyone is a traitor, want to kill everything that moves or doesn't and think that they themselfs are unbeatable gods of war.
>>94765858Cute as fuck, theres just something nice about epic scale terrain.
>>94765439very cool idea
>>94765858When the war is over I will take a nap under that tree and smell the flowers... when the war is over...
Would strongly recommend just footslogging despoilers. With fixed run move distance it has become quite easy to get into charge range turn 2 with units that are running on foot. Never put despoilers in a spartan, because for less points than a spartan you can field an entire second 20 man despoiler squad with apothecary. And target saturation beats transports, especially when everybody expects to run into a flare shield spartan and builds their list accordingly. Field one big unit of 20 myself. With the full compliment of power weapons, plus apothecary. Don't usually put a chaplain with them, because he goes with the elite melee squad.
>>94765975 meant for >>94765900
>>94765975and it works you say ?i should do another 20, just to be sure...in all seriousness i should add ways to trigger spite of the legions like snipers or a librarian
>>94765987It does. Specially when there's also two or more dreadnoughts and your big elite melee deathstar shoved right in the enemy army's face. Outside maybe plasma myrmidons spam, no army has enough firepower to clear all that in a single turn. And once turn 2 starts everything is locked in combat all the time, so nothing can get shot. Tried using snipers to get the spite of the legion bonus, but nobody ever fails their pinning tests. A librarian with telepathy would probably work better, with the huge modifier it applies to the leadership test.
>>94765975For large despoiler squads what is the usual load out for the squads 2xaxs, 2x mauls and a charnobyl saber on the sgt?
>>94766012>Tried using snipers to get the spite of the legion bonus, but nobody ever fails their pinning tests.spite of the legion can also be triggered if there's no characters in the squad. so it surprisingly always work on dreadscould rotor cannons also be considered ? maybe add some fear with a herald or wt ?and since units can take multiple pilling tests you could really go msu with snipers
>>94766057Depends on what you want from your despoilers. If you purely want to go after MEQ then I'd go power spears over mauls. Sure, the mauls wound easier, but with spears they attack at initiative 5, reducing the models attacking back. Can take power axes to have them be a bit more flexible, and also be able to hurt 2+ armour save units. Do attack at initiative 1, but in a unit of 20 there should be enough ablative wounds to keep them alive until they attack.Charnabal sabres are also surprisingly decent, though I would maybe give the sergeant another melee weapon too that does more heavy lifting outside of challenges. And don't forget to give the apothecary a power weapon too, that's basically another sergeant worth of attacks. >>94766080Personally not a fan of rotor cannons, too reliant on enemy units failing a pinning test to earn their value. Don't worry too much about needing to trigger spite of the legion, my despoiler squads almost never get it but still do alright. Just make sure that when a more elite melee unit catches them you got a dreadnought or elite melee unit of your own nearby to help out your despoilers.
>>94765935>>94765974yeah. epic terrain is such fun to do
>>94766080Mk II my beloved
>>94766080Imagine using rotor cannons against milita, haha
>>94763360Archmagos fails his Cybertheurgy checks 8% of the timeDominus fails his Cybertheurgy checks 17% of the time (same as rolling a 1)Magos Auxilia fails his Cybertheurgy checks 28% of the time (worse than 1/4)you'd use the Archimandrite's BS 46% of the time (Battlesmith 4+), the Dominus' BS 28% of the time and the Magos Auxilia's BS 24% of the time, in return for which each of them gives up shooting for that phase Castellax and Thanatars gain no benefit from the Dominus or Magos Auxilia's BS and the plasma mortar gains so little benefit from BS5 over BS4 it's not worth risking the feedback3 russes would only gain any real benefit if they don't have Blast weapons and yes BS5 co-ax autocannon/vanquisher cannons is a good thing - 5/6 to hit with the autocannon and if you do, 97/100 to hit with the vanquishersif it's Cyber-augmetics+Industrial Stronghold then why stop at 3 russes? go for six, that's 12 vanquisher shots at BS5 per turn, you will kill a primarch with thatbut at the end of the day they're only Third-line so even krak missiles can penetrate them from the front, you're giving up shooting on a toaster who can get some very nice weapons itself and if they're your firebase you'll probably spend most of that Battlesmithing trying to stop them exploding and probably want to do a lot of it in person since the Techpriests can Battlesmith too
>>94764162> cork mountain for manletsLmao
>>94765858That looks REALLY excellent anon
>>94765121Judging by single terminator squad in tunnel clearing operations, where they got 97/1 K/D ratio in single tunnel clearing operation against traitor militia, daemons and CSM, I would assume that average legionary had kill count in thousands.Kharn not having 1000 kills would mean he just turned this thing on or he reset it before each deployment.
>>94765702Yes, but it's tricky.Custodes are super loyal to Emperor and you can play them only as loyalists, but here comes tricky part. Since Emperor was one who orchestrated Heresy, mastermind behind it all, who controlled both sides, he would send his Custodes from time to time to influence events in traitors favor, so Big E's plans could finally come to fruition.
I've got a SoH army which is well painted and I want to sell it.i have a potential buyer but no idea of value.I have an Abaddon, 5 Justaerin with combi plas, 15 Reavers, 30 Vets with combi and special weapons + the old torsos and shoulders, 2 contemptors and 2 rhinos both with legion doors and insignia and stuff. All well painted.
>>94765858Love it anon, so nice to see vegetation in the Horus Heresy.
>>94766404Well how long did it cost to clean, assemble and paint everything? Then factor in all the paint, glue and other stuff used.
>>94766404For a decently painted army you should be able to get slightly more than the original price of the models. But it's no guarantee, getting even is already quite an achievement usually. The most profitable situation is when some IT nerd with too much money takes a fancy to it, those people usually have more cash than common sense.
>>94766116the problem with spears is that I don't have any plastic ones, and stupid GW doesn't ship stuff here. But it is good to hear that maces and axes aren't totaly horrible. I will try to build 4 dudes with axes and 4 with mauls, and then test them out in mono weapon builds and in a mix. thanks for the tip about apothecaries, I never thought about giving them any gear. Besides one having an ax for some reason, Which I still can't explain to myself, even if it was me building the model.
Standard is kinda anemic, but otherwise this looks alright.
>>94766474Power spears are very easy to convert from power swords. Just drill a hole in the handle, insert some brass rod or something similar, and done. Don't have a physical example at hand, I play DA so am legally bound to use power swords exclusively. If you can get your hands on some of those falchions from the plastic GK set even better, those look ace as spear heads.
>>94766507Every herald conversion I've seen looked more impressive than that model lmao. It's so plain and boring, and that banner is rather underwhelming. Good to see GW finally caved and made a female space marine head though. She even has cornrows, the inclusivity nutcases are gonna be pleased with this one.
>>94765702Short answer: No. Long answer: Also no. Not aesthetically, not thematically and most certainly not legally. There is not a single custard that does not remain firmly in camp emperor at all times. And please don't try to be a special snowflake and go "Well, MY custodes realized the emperor is bad and now fight for freedom or communism or whatever.
>>94766507>Make (2) new Herald consuls, after releasing another kit that allows you to make one, and when 3 Herald consul kits already exist.BUT WHY?I thought for a second it was that Fists character from the Mars book, and I was about to lose it
>>94766341well i could swap the cyberthurgy power to cybernetica on the enginseers, allowing them to buff the thanatars with whole host of good effectsso then I would have 3 guys with machina (archmagos, 2x dominus)and 3 guys with cybernetica (archmagos because archimandrite lets him take 2 cyberthurgy's, 2x enginseers)and i'm stopping at 3 russes because I dont want the allied detachment's points to exceed the primary detachment's, its already on 1300 out of 3000the allies also contain all my line troops (4 infantry squads) and some fire support (lascannon HWT and multimelta sentinels)
>>94766516For a veteran hobbiest it is probably easy. I have 6 power swords, and no drill. the attempts to drill probably would require me to destroy them. But I do have 4 axes and 8 maces. But the GK thing could be a good idea. 10 bodies to make more bolter dudes and pole weapons, two handed terran great swords and some regular calibanite blades.
>>94766532Anon if that head looks female to you I think you need to see a doctor.
>>94766552however, i am tempted to take some thallax in my mechanicum, so that I have more line troops, and specifically line troops that move fast and arent made of paper
>>94766554I'm using modern audience standards for the bait anon.
>>94766507It's fine I guess
>>94766533I thought that Valdor was super loyal, best warrior that the Emperor had, bit like Pierozyn , and then one day his positions get artilery targted or in case of Valdor he sees reality for what it really is thanks to his magical spear, and he is still patriotic , but it makes him crazy.
>>94766552>stoppingwhat is this
>>94766549Dread it, run from it, Camba Diaz arrives all the same.
>>94766507Now watch the traitor version look 6-9x cooler as both the champ and overseer are

>>94766607Have you considered reading the books?
>>94766617>>94766617there is like 300+ books could you be more specific? what to read.
>>94766607Because the Chaos Gods offered Horus their aid in usurping the Emperor. This was explained a lot better in the old lore, ironically enough, which is just a few sentences. Then the BL novel series happened, and those hacks couldn't help themselves and just ruined it.
>>94766642but Horus loved his father, why would he want to abolish his rule?
>>94766553Invest in a small hand drill. Can't do without one if you wanna drill weapon barrels, holes for pinning parts together, and so on.
>>94766507I'm curious if the prosthetic leg was part of the initial concept, or if it came later to make the model more visually interesting. The low loincloth looks out of place on a mk 3
>>94766650Because the Chaos Gods influenced circumstances beforehand to stoke the fires of Horus' ambition, to the point where he thought that he, not the Emperor, should be the rightful ruler of the Imperium. And the Emperor, being completely immersed into his webway project, didn't realise what was going on until it was too late.
Which Legion is the least dependent on FW, third-party figures and/or 3d prints in order to field a functioning army?
>>94766662all sons are ambitious, but only assholes try to kill their father. And Horus was a good son, not a bad one. there had to be something that made him do it like , the goverment using his fathers absence to move against primarchs and space marines. Or ad mecha were up to no good.
>>94766675Horus became a bad son. Even Fulgrim, who was possibly more loyal and dedicated to the Emperor than Horus, ended up turning traitor. It all starts with good intentions, but with each small step he ultimately ended up on the wrong path. It's part of the insidious nature of Chaos: it all starts with small, inconsequential things, which escalate so slowly you barely notice it, and before you know it you're in so deep there is no turning back. The classic boiling frog analogy is very fitting for it.
>>94766650Because the horus heresy was about marine's rights (to not be killed off at the end of the great crusade)
>>94766694Keep telling yourself that, traitor. Maybe it'll make eternal damnation slightly more bearable as you slowly mutate into a mewling mass of flesh.
>>94766694That is such a retarded plot point that BL inserted. Even if the Great Crusade ended in success, and they somehow completely eradicated the Orks, humanity will never stop fighting amongst themselves. There would always have been a need for a highly effective, elite military force, even if it was just to keep the human population in line. Not to mention the yet to emerge threats like Necrons waking up en masse, and the Tyranids arriving. Which the Emperor would surely already knew about, if he is as omniscient as BL likes to portray him. Just imagine how much of a retard it would make the Emperor when the Tyranids showed up to devour the galaxy, and he just got rid of the most powerful fighting force humanity has ever had.
>>94766702>The corpse-slave doesn't realise the dark gods will feast on his soul when he dies I will remember this moment when I ascend to daemonhood and laugh
>>94766690fulgrim fall was eldar, and eldar women, foult. >>94766694yeah. I think the goverment and the Imperial Army feared the power of space marine, and with the crusade nearing its end, they wanted to pull a Mount Ararat Black Swan type of event for marines and their primarchs. And the Emperor was busy, if he knew he would have never allowed it.
>>94766638>>94766617>Have you considered reading the books? The books have to be the greatest trolling the 40K fandom ever did.>Have you considered reading the books?Have you considered giving me the answer?> the books? After reading Horus rising I gave up when the viewpoint switches to some irrelevant imperial guy who bitches how he loves to write on paper and that he has these super special books that he only uses to write special things because they do not make them anymore.Writing this and can only be produced by someone trapped in a dungone and the life of his family depending on him writing text.>Horus heresy>Yea this is this other empire they also have the emperor...>However he is only a guy and not magic...>So they kill the false emperor...>And this guy who is strange because he wants to write on paper...>Only paper production was stopped in the future...Nothing will want to make you to go out on book burning then reading this trash.
>>94766723Sorry but that is just a really dumb opinion. The Imperial Army had nowhere near the military power, not to mention the cohesion needed, to ever have a chance to eradicate the legions. And the Council of Terra was all too happy about having marines do all the heavy lifting when it came to waging wars.
>>94766607>>94766617>>94766638>>94766642>>94766650Thanks anon for pointing out how insane all the non answers about Horus and chaos space marines are.>What is this?>The emperor will turn into a god and force us to worship him?>Here lets all worship these astral boys we only now got into contact! And 40K fags have no answers especially that GW insists on retconing everything into the most retarded lore possible now.And once ore world of shattered darkness has the best solution.Basically there are no chaos gods or chaos there is a non thinking presence force of corruption that basically perm fucks you if you use corrupted mana and always in the same way.>Oh I know I should not drink corrupted mana however I really need it now.>Wow maybe I should take more corrupted mana? >>94765121I'm guessing Kharn is only taking into account legionaries he kills, not militia or other Astartes. Probably wounded a lot of fuckers as well which he didn't count.Either way, seeing how Astartes are SF on steroids their kill counts against average humans is probably something like a couple of hundered to one, especially seeing how resilient they are. Put them in any space marine vehicle, be it a flyer, tank or anything else and you're looking at insane numbers. For average line legionaries I'd expect them to have hundreds of kills against baseline humans, against other astartes you'd see more conventional modern day numbers.

>>94767091The Thunder Warriors were completely unfit to be let out of the Emperor's sight for ever a second, and totally inadequate to the needs of the Great Crusade. The Emperor didn't wipe them out because lolEmperorreasons, they were actively endangering his plans, and to see them slowly die out as he stopped replacing them and they began to meltdown would have been a waste of resources and probably a drag on morale, so he used it as an opportunity to add to the founding myth of his Imperium. Contrast this to most of the legiones astartes, who were completely self sufficient and mostly stable. Their whole benefit is they could maintain themselves with little oversight and thus would have been a perfect elite force to keep around after the Great Crusade to stamp out the Orks ad infinitum or be prepared for rising threats. Only the retard legions like the Night Lords and World Eaters needed to be concerned about getting Thunder Warrior'd.

Compare that to the legions which were always the core of their respective expeditionary fleets and formed a significant portion, if not the largest portion of the crusade fleets, alongside the mechanicum and titan legios. Mortal formations were assigned mostly to cleanup and consolidation operations, and pretty much the moment anything significant came at them they were called for support from all the various transhuman agencies of the crusade.

Realistically, how common would Artificer armour on Tactical marine sergeants be in 30k?It dawned on me that everyone in my friend group takes Artificer at every possible opportunity, as well as power weapons on sergeants. I'm not complaining about Artificer armour and I understand it's point as a +1 save bump to help with duels vs power weapon enemies, but would legionaries be given the suits so freely? If the game was to be played in a historical recreation type game, would every squad leader get it? Or is it only for the most exceptional warriors/those who supplied their own gear (salamanders or legionaries who are good friends with tech marines, etc)?

Hunting for unpainted parts on the model before they get a gloss coat for their waterslides and panel lining.I posted the two vex carriers previously asking for opinions on what colors to paint the vexillas, but it got derailed pretty quickly on account of them being fetish dolls. So I’m asking again. These guys are tactical marines, but given the lore from Malevolence we know that the BA have a strong NCO corps to keep the regular legionaries in line and stop them from eating people, so for my tactical marines I’ve painted up 3 guys in veteran colors to show how they’re the ones who take command if the sergeant gets fragged, and they can also lead smaller fire teams if the squad has to break down. I’m thinking of using red and yellow on the banners like the classic BA banners but I’m also afraid of the ketchup mustard look, but ketchup and mustard does look good. Also considering black and white, and purple.
>>94769476>Thunder Warriors were culled after they rebelled against Emperor.the palace coup was an armed resistance by a surviving band of TW to put Capatain-General Valdor on trial for the massacre of TW on Mt. Ararat anon. Actual armed rebellion and planned disobedience did not happen by the TW until after Emps tried to kill them off. Even then they thought it was on someone else's order, attempted to apprehend said person and wanted to wait until Emps came back from whatever he was doing to give judgement. It is true Emps never wanted to use the TW to conquer the galaxy, thanks to BL we have TW stating that their numbers were never replenished during the Unification, and Mt. Ararat occurred by his decree. Yet, at the same time aged mortals were given proper medical care and could retire peacefully after unification if they desired or accompany the fleets if they wished. Why is the not the case of the TW? They are the most human of Emps gene altered creations after all, just like mortals they were affected by psychosis, degeneration, organ failure, and they aged just ignore they fact they were combat ready longer than the normal lifespan of mortal men. Why were they alone singled out by Emps to be hunted down if they survived by the DA with such agency?>Emps destroys tools when he is done with themWe saw it with the TW and we saw the forced retirement of members of the 19th after the Jovian cleanse. Thanks to Path of Heaven we saw his ideas about the Nav houses. You can argue he doesn't, but it's not one that holds water.
>>94772135>We saw it with the TW and we saw the forced retirement of members of the 19th after the Jovian cleanse. Thanks to Path of Heaven we saw his ideas about the Nav houses. You can argue he doesn't, but it's not one that holds water.I think what people seem to forget because it's cool to hate the Emperor is that the tools he discarded were ones that were usually broken or dangerous. Thunder Warriors were turning into soup on the battlefield and couldn't operate in the larger galaxy without his direct supervision, or the Navigator houses were like a cartel wielding a disproprotionate amount of power in the Imperium +mutants+getting rid of the Warp was always his plan anyway, how do you think the powerful Navigator houses would react if they get wiff of the Webway project (which ma very well be something that's mentioned in PoH, I didn't read that one. Do you recommend?
>>94772156>Thunder Warriors were turning into soup on the battlefield and couldn't operate in the larger galaxy without his direct supervision...then supervise them? 40k Wulfen and Death Company are exactly the same, yet they are offered a warrior's death before putting them down behind a Costco like the Thunder Warriors were.No way the Emperor, at the height of his power and backed by 10,000 Custodians cannot achieve what two accursed chapters can do without their primarchs.
>>94772294Well the Wulfen and Death Company aren't exactly known things in the wider Imperium, and the Emperor isn't around to make a decision on them, they are being given a warrior's death by their own chapters not a larger Imperial authority. And this is getting really far from the original point which was that the Emperor still has no reason to do this to the astartes legions in general even if it was pretty likely he would have wiped out the Night Lords and World Eaters at the end there. But then in those situations its basically the same story, those two legions were actually a danger to his plans, an uncontrollable tool, compared to the other model legions
>>94772156Chris is a letigetimetly good author when it come to BL, if you have time to burn you should pick one of his stories a try make sure to read Scars first but yes.>the tools he discarded were ones that were usually broken or dangerous. Are you actually putting forth the idea Angron and Konrad were not broken or dangerous? Emps gets rid of tools when he's finished with them. Whether you think that's okay or not is a personal choice that reflects you ideas about Emps himself, but all of his tools are "Dangerous". The real question is if he's done with them or not. With this in mind remember that the topic was about marine rights and how they were being phased out of leadership positions in the IoM as the GC came to the close with some anon saying that Emps would never kill them because reasons Marines were a tool to conquer the Galaxy anon and we have seen how Emps treats his tools.
>>94769694>decided to get surgery to be better. The were good enough the way they were, bigot and body shamer.
Ferrus confirmed to be the best primarch once again.>>94772343>nooooooo what about my feefees
>>94772343Thanks I'll take a look at it, I liked Scars and I liked Warhawk too, which I think is by the same guy. >Are you actually putting forth the idea Angron and Konrad were not broken or dangerous? But so much of the lore says that at the point of the Heresy they were basically about to purge the NL and WE, and the NL were a renegade legion in all but name. His tools are dangerous but not to him per se. >Whether you think that's okay or not is a personal choice that reflects you ideas about Emps himself, but all of his tools are "Dangerous"I unironically believe that the Emperor was justified with all of his decisions with the sole exception of not just helping Angron, and even in that case, he probably remembered the last time he helped fight one of his son's battles for him (Mortarion), and look how that was repaid.

Loadout advice for a 10 man SoH Reaver squad, I was thinking 5 LC, 2 power axes and one power fist on the chief?
>>94772330>the Emperor still has no reason to do this to the astartes legions in generalOh no, i was only referring to the culling of Thunder Warriors being unnecessary. Like, it could've even been possible to set up a Veteran Affairs office to care for them as retirees if you want to. It's not like they had long to live either way right?Whoever doesn't want to retire (AKA none) gets to serve still and hopefully die with honour in combat. But setting up a VA office means it's no longer YOUR fault: you agreed to fund it, it's them who don't want your help. And it declares that which should have never been a secret to begin with:>1. Thunder Warriors are OFFICIALLY no longer fit for service>2. They will be phased out. Be retirement or death, all active elements will eventually perish and shall not be replaced>3. The Imperium thanks its heroes, and may they rest in peace so well earned.EXPLOSION. CHAINSAW. GRIM DARKNESS, FAR FUTURE
>>94772370This. Marines aren't "people". People build lives, grow families and GET PAID.Marines are SLAVES who are for conquering through extreme violence. And they do it FOR FREE.They are given meals, gear and ammo, but no actual money and wouldn't know what to do with it except trade it for raw materials for more meals, gear and ammo.Marines can do anything, but at the end of the day they aren't people.Immortal ultraviolent warriors simply cannot understand the needs of frail, ephemeral mortals because they don't have any of them.
>>94772572Human politicians already are completely out of touch with the needs of the common man. Now imagine how much more out of touch functionally immortal teenage boys turned into unstoppable fighting machines would be.The Emperor undoubtedly could have created space marines in a way that they did not need to recruit from regular humans. But he made sure that marines need humans to sustain their numbers, because space marines are created to serve and protect humanity.
