I FUCKING TOLD YOU NIGGA.
I predicted that the combat engineer kit would be able to build grenadiers too, just like how you can build deathmarks or immortals with one necron kit. I TOLD YOU.

GRENADIERS CONFIRMED!

The paintjob is fine but I think you need to add a bit more to the base. Having nothing but snow is just a bit boring.
Maybe add some rocks or ice crystals in there to break it up a bit?

Grenadier is the rule they have. If they were actually DK Grenadiers they would have hotshot weapons instead of shotguns. It is also a type of infantry so they aren't saying "you can build these as grenadiers" but are saying "as a grenadier type of soldier".

I bought a basing rock kit off Amazon like a lazy dumbass in order to get the right sizes, but you can quite literally just walk outside and grab some rocks off the ground.
Here's some ice and snow bases I did with them. For ice you can just paint light blue and drybrush up to a white. Then just add snow.
>>
>>94766974
you are fucking retarded my dude
grenadiers are dead and we're never getting them
they've been amalgamated with engineers and it's their ability and face mask that lives on

And if you prefer the rocky snow terrain instead of icy snow, cork is your friend. Buy a few sheets from a hobby store or online and rip it apart to glue onto your base. Paint over that, add your snow, and you've got a decently good-looking rocky texture poking out through the snow.

This is a special rule. Grenadiers are dead. Or rather, grenadiers and engineers have been merged into the unified krieger equivalent of cadian kasrkin.
>>
>>94767060
That is basically impossible, five bodies for 35 points would be good even if they were straight up random dudes.

Nope. Developing new technology and evolving new bioforms are one and the same.
A mere termagaunt is several different bioforms: the creature itself, its weapon, and the ammunition in said weapon are all tyranid bioforms the hivemind bent to its purposes, and all of them are alive.

Hard no. Everything Tyranid is biological from their gravity manipulation to ammunition. Even fucking bone swords are bioforms.
>yes they impregnate the gun to spawn the children and then launch them for one of the weapon
In some cases this is probably true but I think in the case of the Fleshborer the gun is basically an incubator and launch device. I don't think the beetles are the gun's offspring.

I think that's basically how their FTL works since they can't Warp travel. They have a bioship that can gravity the shit out of a tunnel between them and their target, compressing the space between the two points.
>>
>>94767379
It's how they do FTL.
It's incredibly destructive when they do it within star systems, too- if done too close to planets, a fleet passing by can rip them out of their orbits.
>>
>>94767385
I bet the Necrons can or used to be able to do that too
>>

why are DKOK models half as cheap as every chaff infantry in the game but with firepower as good as a 100pt unit's
>>
>>94767403
Because they aren't, there will never be a time where you can actually use these points in a competitive game. There will be a points update before the codex is allowed at tournaments.
>>
>>94767403
So they can sucker in tournyfags to spend thousands of dollarydoos on grey plastic only to nerf the rules into oblivion before the general release of the book. Just like Votann in 9th
>>
>>94767403
>why are DKOK models half as cheap as every chaff infantry in the game but with firepower as good as a 100pt unit's
Engineers are a 5-man squad of T3 dudes and Grenades only has an 8" range.
They're also armed with shotguns and maybe one GL so they probably have zero threat outside 12". That said the remote mine is pretty good at delivering even more mortals so you can't just ignore them.
>>
>>94767403
The engineers lack a good way of actually getting near anything unless you stick them in reserves or a chimera in which case you're adding +75pts to them on principle. People are acting like they're going to be deepstriking at 6" away, they're a 5 man squad at T3 5+, that need to be almost in charging distance to do anything, they can easily get picked up by incidental fire, it's not mind boggling as to why they're so cheap.
>>
>>94767472
There are two ways to field them that I can think of. The first is supporting an infantry squad to discourage the infantry squad from being charged (squad could fall back and then get grenaded/mined) or as action monkeys. On their own they wont do a whole lot unless you are lucky or the opponent screws up.
>>
>>94767472
Don't they get 6 inch scout moves so turn 1 you just move them behind LoS and that leaves you free to mine + grenade t2on the midboard?
>>
>>94767472
>5+
Do we know that for sure? It's probably a 4+ like Grenadiers had.
Still, assuming a 4+ save, a 5-man squad of intercessors wipes them with an extra point of damage to spare in one round of shooting, and that's without resorting to the grenade launcher.
I didn't account for cover for the Kriegers, but I also didn't give the marines any bonuses or rerolls.
>>
Why does Lord Marshal Dreir have a name instead of a clone vat number?
>>
>>94767514
to be fair, Intercessors are absolutely undercosted in terms of firepower after the buffs.
>>
>>94767518
Death Korps officers have names and have had them since at least Vraks, they're implied to go through a different upbringing to the normal Guardsman and may intentionally be allowed to have more autonomy to stop them being as smoothbrained as their soldiery. Exceptional soldiery promoted into officers might be given a name.
>>
>>94767514
They have always had a 4+ save so it would be odd for them to have a 5+ now. They also look fairly armored in the pictures.
>>
>>94767523
Ehh, somewhat. It's still only bolt rifles and one grenade launcher. It isn't until you start digging into all the bonuses and abilities marines can buff them up with that they become a problem on their own.
>>
>>94767552
it's 4 shots per dude, it's kind of nuts. 20 shots on a 5 man is way above what your average group does

Beastmasters are technically part of the the Cult subfaction, but where do Mandrakes go? They're not really specifically part of Cults, Covens or Kabals but are more like free agents.

Heavy Weapon Teams are always too fragile to justify taking alone though. That's why you'd always integrate them into infantry squads (which obviously don't exist anymore). It's six wounds at 5+ save a unit. They get wiped turn one unless someone has nothing to shoot.

>>
>>94769194
>>94769200
i've played like 20 games with it and I just don't lose because the math on a bunch of units gets ridiculous
A Repulsor Executioner can shoot its main gun at a tank and deal real damage while all of the smaller guns just destroy an oath'd guy nearby.
Enemy deathstars like big blobs of Kataphrons just wither and die even to weak fire because bolters are wounding on 4's.
You can just run an Ironstorm vehicle heavy list and advance up the map vaporizing the two most important things a turn while getting access to cheap, strong stratagems, nuke buttons and fantastic action economy with Power of the Machine Spirit and Overwatch on Oath'd units.

Once Marine players finally drop Gladius I expect it to be a 60+% winrate army

I remember watching Solo: A Star Wars Story with my little cousin and there was the WW1-esque scene. I went online to rewatch it as it was the only part worth remembering and I check the comments and there are 40k fanboys in it.

I've seen this before of any sci-fi military IP and inevitably there are 40k fanboys in the comment section.
I've looked at historical (ww1/ww2) movie clips and seen 40k fanboys going all "this is how the Imperial Guard fights."
Have we become the bronies of sci-fi intellectual properties always looking at different stuff and just going "what if that is in 40k" or "40k can beat x IP" and so on?

Seriously it kind of gives me second hand embarrassment.
I know that a good chunk of these comments are not made by kids/teenagers either.

Black Templars offshoot who are secretly made from chimeric geneseed taken from Raven Guard, Imperial Fists, Night Lords, and Alpha Legion.
They branched off because they were so incredibly loyal and zealous that the Black Templars were jealous, so they got sent out on a special crusade which was actually a suicide mission. But because they're also super tactical each squad is basically an army by itself which means they could pull off missions just like in Astartes.
They're best friends with the Deathwatch for being xenos killers but hate the rest of the Inquisition for being corrupt and overly radical,
Their main battle tactic is to utilize their super tactical nature to sneak up and ambush their targets with power knives, using hyper-brutal executions to terrify other targets.
They're good at fighting everyone but they like fighting Tau and Eldar the most because those are dumb xenos who don't understand that mankind is king in the galaxy and the aliens just need to go extinct.
Their Chapter Master is Sephiroth Rex, who uses a jump pack and elongated Power Katana to impale his enemies from above.

Successor to Blood Angels. Fleet based because their Homeworld was destroyed by Grey Knights, but the chapter still exists in eternal penance because they were too good at fighting to exterminate entirely. Special traits are that they still have red thirst / black rage but they're able to control it because they try really hard and clamp down it it with pure angst. Their martial doctrine and specialty is razing entire planets even if there is the smallest seed of heresy, and readily sacrificing allies if it means the mission succeeds. Their big secret is that they maybe are not so loyal to the Emperor as you would think, and are using the Imperium for their own goals. They are called the Doom Reapers or Death Reapers. Their icon is a hooded, grinning skull with a knife clamped in its teeth, over a mushroom cloud explosion.

Damn, son. I hope you aren't doing a full Sons army in that quality because you'll be working on it for the next 7 years minimum. How long did that one model take and how many have you done?

I'm gonna call the satirical homebrew chapter the "Coldsteels" in reference to ColdSteel The Hedgeheg they'll be a satirical chapter of space marines descended from a traitor legion. I'm thinking nightlords. But they'll be designated as Raven Guard.

Does GW still do free minis of the month from their store for "newcomers" and when will it most likely be a space marine? I haven't been to a GW store in a long time so I could pretend to be new to the hobby saying stuff like "I saw the Secret Level Animation" or "I played Space Marine 2 and I'm curious about mini painting."

If a space marine doesn't show up I might actually just go "fuck it" I'll buy a space marine or a third party not!Space marine set and make my own.
>>
>>94769674

After making the post I found out that the current one allegedly is an Eldar.

I just want to do something different than painting imperial guardsmen.
Since the satirical homebrew chapter called the ColdSteels will be Night Lord successors would Night Lords dark blue colours without the lightning strikes be a good starting point?
Its gotta be on the nose.

Uhh I'm just looking to collect some here and there as a side project. But yeah unless I run out of steam I want to paint it all to this standard.

Redpill: krieg were never a steel legion recolour, they were depicted more or less in the style that FW made them from day one. The steel legion models were only used as a proxy because that's the closest they had, but they were never SUPPOSED to look like that.

I'd say it's very clear they originally made them as just an alternative regiment for using Armageddon models. Like painting Kodongian Woodland Warriors using Catachan models or Tyberian Forward Troops using Cadians. They just took the Panzergrenadier influence of the Steel Legion and made another German inspired regiment to fill the pages. Later this got expanded a bit where they drew them with heavier looking coats and different helmets, but still kept the folding stock carbines.

Not bad for a first mini. Your paint's either a little thick or you sprayed too much primer on some spots, and you definitely spilled some colors where you didn't intend to, the small detail segments being the most obvious.

Look into some painting tutorials on youtube to get a better understanding of how to thin your paints and control your brush strokes and you'll be doing better in no time. Duncan Rhodes is a good place to start but don't stop there, you can find good painting tips all over the place now.

Only options for infantry are Krieg, Catachan and Cadian. Being an artist employed at GW sucks ass, the pay probably sucks, you can't be credited for your work for your resume, and GW has increasingly clamped down on letting individual presenters become little micro-celebrities within the community in a post-Duncan world which is a shame because I bet Duncan Rhodes helped more people learn how to paint GW products than every other employee combined for the entirety of Warhammer's history and created a lot of good will between players and the company. But I digress, Suggs probably just found a better opportunity elsewhere.

Do you realize how utterly depressing it is that humans have the home field defensive advantage, positioning, and manpower in nearly every battle... and they lose constantly?
Most Ork Waaaghs start with Orks throwing asteroids full of boys at the planet and whoever lives basically starts building their empire, logistics, and equipment from scratch.
Its the equivalent of having an hour to turtle and build your defensess in Starcraft and then get absolutely BTFO in every game.

When I was like 14 or so I wrote a fanfic where a team of inquisitors were sent on a world infested with chaos cultists and genestealers, it followed the leader of the inquisitors as he slowly becomes unhinged and violent as he's corrupted by Khorne, an underling who plans a coup to oust him as a Tzeentchian plot, and a woman who's slowly being transformed into the genestealer patriarch's wife. It's been deleted for about a decade now, should I rewrite it? I'm off for half of next week for some reason.

The Eldar tried to stop him from manifesting but Lucius killed enough of them to summon Fulgrim into realspace. Many Craftworlds seemingly vanished from their already obscure territories and the Eldar have evidently disappeared from the galaxy at large.

Thats effectively but the Deldar did, but they're reliant on the torture of mortals and they absolutely have to have chattle or they die. Craftworlders are utterly reliant on spiritstones, which means they have to be near the Eye of Terror. There isnt much beyond the galaxy and if the nids are any idea, its not any better. So they're stuck. They're a doomed and dying race thats the whole point. Its GRIM and DARK.
>>
>>94771545
Addressed at the end of the Beast series. There is no point for the Aeldari to leave cause Chaos would follow them or bee where new galaxy they end up because Chaos knows no limits.

There is an example of a craftworld that left the galaxy. It still got invaded by daemons.
>>
>>94771545
Eldar are noble and couragous in their own way and will not abandon the exodite eldar who they feel they owe a debt to, to extinction and extermination. They will not give up the dream of the eldar race somehow finding a way to continue living free from Slaanesh

>>94771553
None of what you said is true.
Drukhari can quit their lifestyles and be something else. It's not unheard of for the Drukhari to switch to any of the Aeldari cultures.
They don't need spiritstones. It's not the reason why they don't leave. The reason is that it's pointless. Chaos cannot be outrun. You can't escape Chaos because the Warp is everywhere.

A dark eldar who kicks the torture habit will still need a spirit stone. It's why leaving the Dark Eldar is virtually impossible. They have to convince a Craftworld to give them an unused stone, which is something most Craftworlds don't keep just laying around.
If they don't have one then they're doomed to be consumed as soon as Slaanesh so much as glanced their way.

No. The Mike Brooks novel mention that there are Drukhari who joined Craftworlders, Exodites, Corsairs, Ynnari and the Harlequins. It's not impossible. Maybe hard because it's kicking an addiction but it's possible.
Aeldari do not need spiritstones to live. The soul drainage of the Drukhari is due to their activities, not the lack of spiritstones. Corsairs carefree, lifestyles despite wearing spiritstones, have them suffering the same symptoms as the Drukhari in the long run.

Also, there is another Mike Brooks novel that says that Drukhari souls shine dimly in the Warp. So dim that psykers can barely register them.
Basically, their souls are as large as the T'au souls. They are tiny. I speculate If they stop being pricks, Slaanesh and his daemons might not detect them.

Completely finished my first miniatures. I've painted a lot of necrons so far but haven't finished the bases on them because I'm afraid to commit to something that I won't end up liking. I just went ahead and did astrogranite on these with the intent to repaint the bases later if I end up not liking it. I can't do the fine lines very well, specifically those black recesses on the blades, but I'm just glad they're done.

I'm excited to be moving on to the Skorpekh Lord, who is the whole reason I picked up necrons in the first place as he's my favorite model I've seen so far. I've been holding off on painting him since I wasn't confident in any method for painting good necron blades, but now I feel like I got a good way to do it so he's up next.

I can't tell if your weathering is supposed to be metal wear, or just dirt and splatter to match your basing. If it's the former, I think you've overdone it a bit. If it's the latter stuff like dust, or runoff from mud splatter, tends to find itself settling in cracks and crevices which means the fact that yours is less prevalent in those areas than it is on open, flat and easily cleaned surfaces feels unnatural.
