What if we replaced Thief's Cant with Floriography?
>>94768064>>2024 DMG>https://easyupload.io/2kvpenThis link is dead. Plox replace with a new one, as per >>94766764.
>>94768289I'll let someone else make the next general to change it.
>>94768113>I mean, technically, if you're the type of asshole to burn absolutely everything for an entire day in a single crit. It still doesn't compare to some other builds.Yeah, but it would be fun though. Like you're at a big boss enemy that's been AC tanking you all day, you roll a crit, and give everything you've got, even your own vitality, all at once in a single attack to take it down. Even if it fails, good effort.
I've been away from the game a while. Are the 2024 rules good or not as good as the 2014 ones? I saw that races are gone and I don't much like the sound of that.
>>94768448They’re calls species now and their stat is applied to their background rather than race(species). Additionally, they’ve still got their unique features like the elf sleep thingBooks are actually better written and have decent improvements
>>94768448There are some nice quality-of-life changes (such as potions taking a Bonus Action to use), but on the whole it's kind of shit.
>>94768448Kind of a wet fart. It's not *bad* per se, but there's more content out for baseline 5e, and despite swearing up and down that 5e stuff is backwards-compatible with 2024, it's really... not. >>94768482My group already has a bunch of Quality of Life rules, don't really feel like we need to pay for a worse version of what we've made ourselves.
>>94768064>TQ:Ravnica party summoned a Death Pact Angel to help us out of getting curbstomped by a Rakdos group. After taking some damage in the process fighting off a summoned demon, she demanded our eternal servitude and all the loot as payment for being bothered. When my Gruul Beast Barbarian raised an objection that she found that cost too extreme, the DM called for initiative as the angel moved to attack for such blatant insolence. Everyone else in the party elected not to roll because they didn't want to get caught in the sights of an angry evil celestial, even though my Barbarian won the roll.Barbarian zooms up, disarms the angel of her 8-die scythe, grapples, and uses the last bit of Barbarian movement to pull her away from the weapon and towards the nearby ominous lava fixture. Angel tries to charm the Monk to save her since as an Orzhov he's a subordinate, but he makes the save and retorts that he'll need compensation for it. Ignoring the offer, she gets another round of trying to wriggle free and failed charming as she's pulled to the lava, where my Barbarian dunks her for massive lava damage then uses a Bite to try to heal off some of the damage from the previous fight, which finishes off the angel.Earlier in the game, my Barbarian got a random Simic altering, allowing her to use a Giant Toad-esque Swallow on a successful bite against a grappled target that's her size or smaller. To everyone's horror, magical realm occurs, with the Monk being pissed off that his inaction screwed him out of extorting a high-ranking member of his guild, and the Boros Divine Soul Sorcerer being appalled at the sight of any angel not only being so swiftly killed but also swallowed whole. Monk informs his guild, a representative arrives and tears out half of the Barbarian's soul as compensation, and in a later arc a Seraph of the Scales threatens us with combat in a hostile area unless she acquiesced to an exorcism to free the angel's essence.
>>94768493>it's really... not. Why? From what I've played it all works fine.
>>94768482>>94768493Thanks!I guess if I find another game I'll ask about which version of the rules being used then. The quality of life improvements seem alright. Checking 5etools I don't think I like all the subclasses being uniform at 3rd level.
>>94768641Those anons are retarded, the '24 rules are almost uniformly better.
>>94768658I'm taking any opinion on it, it's not like I'm gonna spend money on the books kek. Haven't even done that for the 2014 ones
>>94768658I did not say the '24 rules were bad. I said they lacked content and backwards compatibility is tricky due to the power-bumps being at different levels.
>>94768709To be fair, wotc was always going to slowly dripfeed the actual content past the three corebooks anyway. Right?
>>94768709In '24 power bumps are all at the same levels though. For older subclasses you just move everything to level 3.
>>94768448Kinda better depending on your taste. When I did a strawpoll only 40% of tables have changed over. I find 5e is garbage without good house rules anyways so most people have their own version of 5.5e already https://strawpoll.com/eNg6vzVkwgA/resultsStrawpoll above if anybody wants to check the results or vote.
>>94768493>it's really... notSure it is, 99% of it anyway.
I just want to watch the world burn.
I'm going to be playing a 5e permadeath west marches campaign. DMs will not be pulling punches. My thought is undying warlock that dips into bard for 1st-level healing spells, taking proficiencies to use heavy armor when I am able. Is this a good idea? When should I dip?
>>94768785But what happens if the werewolf doesn't believe in magic?
>>94768785Werewolves can have the roughest, most unlubricated size difference sex and never risk injury
nirimer killed himself lol
>>94768448Some better, some worse, most classes and feats are better and you can just use the old rules instead and backport anything you do like. Simple and easy upgrade to the game and it being official instead of your own homebrew changes means the improvements will be widely available across groups.
>>94769202>Werewolves can have the roughest, most unlubricated size difference sex and never risk injurywarning: this does not apply to interracial couples with non-werewolf partners.
Ranger racial enemy feels really restricting if you want to run a ranger in different campaigns. Do people you know have a homebrew rule where the ranger's racial enemy can change each campaign?
>>94768709>backwards compatibility is tricky due to the power-bumps being at different levelsWhat do you even mean by this? What's "tricky"? There are rules for it. A level 2 Warlock who's not a Hexblade yet is as strong as a level 2 Warlock who's not the republished Celestial yet.
>>94765765>>94765805you needs to be a sorcadin to get the prerequisite feat for adept of the black robe
/5eg/, what's an unusual personality for a clown? It would feel like too generic if I do I standard funny, sarcastic, sad, or evil clown, and too much of a homestuck ripoff if I make him a stoner. I consider making him serious or just angry all the time, but I feel like it's missing something
>>94769568sincere and passionate clowner, believer in the importance of the medieval usage of the clown as an actor in morality plays that instill good virtues in the common folk through humorous performances which impart lessons by having the clowns show how not to act through their buffoonery.
>Anon recommends to check discords for groups looking to play>All of the games in the channels are pay-to-playthis is so fucking gay
>>94769558Initiate is an origin feat in our campaign.
>>94769661>homebrewThen why are you asking if the rules allow for it?
>>94769648What discords did you look in? The Foundry discord has a free game only section.
>>94769666That's only for the prerequisite feat, it has nothing to do with the mechanics of how the features interact. Specifically, if the damage of Life Channel and Smite is applied to the weapon attack, so that damage applies for Great Weapon Fighting and Savage Attacker.
>>94769673Well, that helps, thanks. I was checking 5e tools as per >>94765454 suggestionI'd like to find a group here but it doesn't seem like anyone is advertising around here these days, and I understand why but it is a bummer
>>94769693Yeah sure. You're already homebrewing stuff, so just say that works.
>>94769696There are sometimes free games on 5etools too, and for StartPlaying you can filter the maximum price to be $5 (which is the minimum for a priced game), without setting a minimum price, which shortens the list to show more free games.Every once in a while on /tg/ there are LFG threads, keep your eyes open.
>>94769709That's not really fair, a mechanics interaction and what counts as an origin feat aren't similar homebrews. For example two DMs could look at the same rule or mechanic with inconclusive wording and reach two different conclusions about how it works, but I wouldn't call either ruling a homebrew.
>>94769725>for example this unrelated thingCool. So RAW, no what you want doesn't work. But you're already homebrewing stuff, so just say it works.
>>94769648>post a game>a lot of interested applicants are "17 turning 18 next week totally so it's fine"These are all 14 year olds aren't they? Where the fuck do the 20 year olds look for games?
>>94769750>So RAW, no what you want doesn't work. Why?
>>94769821I already told you. Also in my campaign paladins aren't an option for PC races so you wouldn't be able to do that anyway.
>>94769842>I already told you. Also in my campaign paladins aren't an option for PC races so you wouldn't be able to do that anyway.Nice homebrew. Also you're retarded, anyone can get Initiate of High Sorcery as a starting feat through the Mage of High Sorcery background, which means you don't need to be a Wizard or Sorcerer to pick it up as a feat or have it as a prerequisite for the Adept feats.
>>94769893>or have it as a prerequisite for the Adept feats. That's not how it works, but hey how when you're homebrewing, it doesn't really matter. Anyway, so no you can't play a paladin but you can play a fighter or barbarian. Also remember in my campaign we do gestalt classes instead of multiclassing.
>>94770028>That's not how it works,What? You need to have Initiate in order to take any of the three Adept feats. You must be trolling now, there isn't even anything homebrew about this.
>>94769202Just because they're immune to nonmagical weapons doesn't mean they're invulnerable. They can still take fall damage, break bones, sprain ankles, etc. Werewolves could definitely hurt each other during sex.
>>94770292Having the prerequisite feat is a prerequisite to grabbing adept, anon. It doesn't matter if you grabbed the background or nt. You still need the first feat. If you don't have that first feat, regardless of the background, you can't take the second. But, again, because you're gomebrewing that you can grab adept regardless, you can just say that it works.
Why do people say drunken master is a shitty monk subclass? I get that it isn't as flashy as the other subclasses, but I feel like it is decent and is even better woth the 2024 monk class changes.
Gimme your honest thoughts
>>94770388But other people's unarmed strikes aren't environmental damage? They're "immortal not invulnerable" in the sense that it's 3e style "DR from regenerating instantly", but that just makes the sex better it doesn't make it actually dangerous.Just because a particular second caused 0 points of damage, does not mean that I did not feel anything, It just means that I took no damage.
>>94770453I think 30 ft is a bit much, even with the 1 damage. 15 ft feels better, but is tou still want to screw some people over you can make it 25 ft and laugh at the small races.
>>94770391>It doesn't matter if you grabbed the background or nt.Anon... If you take the Mage of High Sorcery background, you get Initiate of High Sorcery as a starting feat at level 1, meaning you can take one of the Adept feats at any of your ASI levels.
>>94770453Does "unworked earth" mean plowed fields are off limits or is it just more substantial stuff like houses? Can it end movement undergroud?Push will range from gimmick to super deadly depending on available environmental hazards.
>>94768064D&D? But that's Angel of Mercy from MtG.
>>94771455Next you'll be saying this doesn't represent the average D&D artificer.
>>94771472I thought that was a yugioh card art first
>>94771484That's because it's an anime alt art for consoomers, this is the real one.
If I become an undying warlock and reach level 10 where I get immunity to being magically aged, does that mean I can consume potions of longevity with no risk of side-effects?
>The final monster has a base HP of 50 and gains +1 HP for each person/enemy that dies throughout the entire campaign as it fattens itself on blood flowing into the earth.

>>94771870lmao what a clowngrifter or just buttmad retard?
>>94769313It does apply for mixed couples as long as lycantrope is on the receiving end.3'6" Halfling-werewolf that picked up adventuring to "seek new experiences" is a viable character concept.
>>94771968>A female halfling werewolf was planned for BG3, but cut early in development
>>94771952My bet is grifter.
>>94771523Card games on motorcycles!
>>94771999>>94771952
>>94772090Nonproblem.
>>94772090I agree that plenty of outrage-bait surrounding DnD is a product of grifting, but also WotC are indeed California-brained retards and art like this was certainly created intentionally.
>>94771952>grifter or just buttmad retard?
>>94772090Human with size Small?As small as 2ft?
>>94772252It takes digging down to world records but it's technically possible. Genetic freaks of nature to be certain, but possible. But that's just being devil's advocate, it's fuckin' stupid to codify it when in the same extreme humans can be technically-Large with heights of 8ft+.
>>94772252What's even funnier to me is that dwarfs can't be small sized even though humans can.

Would have at least enjoyed being friends, but its a blessing in disguise, I suppose.
>>94772605What was the campaign?
>>94772614DragonlanceWasn't familiar with it (Or a lot of the settings in 5e honestly, due to lacking a group for years) but it seemed interesting and I reached outI don't know, I felt I was pretty polite and cordial the entire time, it was really surprising seeing such a spiteful response from someone I had already so quickly enjoyed the company of despite having just met
>>94772632I'm interested in Dragonlance, what are the other players playing?
