What do YOU think about the Witcher ttrpg?
Why don't you tell us about it OP?
>>94789511Because I haven't played it. Wtf is your problem?
>>94789515So maybe you should have a better OP then the standard shillfaggotry that is spammed here. You should try again and maybe make a thread stating you have not played the game and want information on it.
>>94789567Or you should fuck off. Yes, I like that idea.
I feel like we just talked about it last week but its a worse cyberpunk red
It's not osr. Therefore it's shit
>>94789596>Osr good>Everything else bad
>I want other people's thoughts on something I've never actually played!Eat shit and die.
>>94790192>5e "players""I begged my DM to do this cool thing and he let me do it" isn't gameplay.
>>94790194I've never ate shit and died before, how was it?
>>94790201>Needing 40 tables to tell me how to tie my shoelace is better
>>94789596everything osr is fucking garbage>>94790201imagine being idiotic enough to believe that if something isn't osr, it's 5e. lmao
>>94790211>jumping to illogical extremes is an argument
>>94790232Imagine being idiotic enough to not see the post he responded to literally had 5e players written in its image.
>>94790234It's crazy how butthurt you lot get over 5E
>>94790289It's crazy how butthurt you get over seeing anyone say anything negative about 5e.
>>94789495It's okay, man. I think that it was an attempt at playtesting Cyberpunk Red's system before it actually arrived and it shows since most of the fantasy rules got ported to that game as an in universe MMO.Like Cyberpunk Red, it feels like rocket tag sometimes and I personally don't mind it since I'm a fan of other rocket taggy games. But I think this one fails in the sense that sometimes the rocket is a bit unfair. To explain my point of view: Some games, if you prepare properly, you can work around the fact that if you're hit, boom you're dead. In a Cyberpunk setting, or a mystery horror, or a gritty war story game - that's fine. But I feel like the Witcher, despite it's attempt at looking grim and dark, lends itself to a game where heroes tend to survive. I tested this game and if I had everything correct, sometimes the rolls just had you die pretty fast. Not as fast as a Call of Cthulhu game, but fast.Check the treasure trove for the PDF. I'm sure it's around there. For me, the better Witcher game would be an E6 3.5 game. Wanna play the titular Witcher? There's a few classes that fit - or you can just multi class. Any other archetypes fit naturally. Elves are Elves, Dwarves are Dwarves, monsters are monsters and with E6, monsters can be deadly. If you don't want to play E6, by all means test Witcher out. It's still an okay game.
>>94790391Thank you Anon.
>>94789495Huge mistake not making it just about Witchers going around doing Witcher shit.
>>94790192This but unironically.
>>94790391So it's like how Star Wars and Warhammer Fantasy were parasitically used to test what became Genesys.
>>94789495I didn't know it existed until seconds ago.
>>94790192lmao, you just know this was made by a 4e player cause no one else would assumed to rope it in with 5e as an example.
>>94789587Based OP.>Hurr a thread isn't about wotc or gw products? Must be a shill!
>>94790194Why the fuck would you need other people's thoughts on something you've already played? If you've played, you can form your own thoughts about it.If you haven't, other people's thoughts make ght be helpful for getting an idea of whether it's worth spending time and/or money on trying it.
>>94789495No thoughts.
>>94789495It suffers from the star wars syndrome where most players want to play the unique thing from the universe (be it Witcher / Jedi / You name it...) and they are supposed to be rare. Same with sorceresses. So some players get stuck playing shit or it becomes a mess of a game.
Could the Witcher beat the Lord of the Rings?
>>94789495Depends on the setting
>>94804060Original Witcher or Girlboss Witcher?
>>94804494Original.
>>94804581Loses, as men always do.
>>94801776>Thread is actually shilling, and a game that has been talked to death and why nobody wants to play or discuss it>There are two different threads in the archive to the same template>HURRR AT LEAST IT'S NOT DND! LE HECKLIN BASED!Game's shit. It's literally CP2020 with fantasy paintjob. It's chargen is the only interesting thing about it, and it's still broken anyway. Combat is broken, too, and is gun-centric, except there are no guns in it. And if you aren't playing an entire party of witchers with some points in crafting, you are playing the game wrong. Here, happy? Because that's literally the only thing you will ever hear or conclude from this game game and its discussion. And we've been over this hundreds of times. So what's the purpose of this thread other than artificially sustaining fake interest in this game, which nobody wants to play for OVER FIVE YEARS AT THIS POINT and was talked to death seven?Go fuck yourself, you fucking child
>>94799160That's a really bizarre way to look at it. The Star Wars FFG line was fucking huge.
>>94804586What about girlboss?
>>94790391The actual story behind is that CDPR threatened Pondsmith with a lawsuit for not fulfilling his obligation of making a Witcher TTRPG, while they were doing their part of the deal and making CP vidya. Instead of doing his job, Pondsmith decided to first consult his lawyer and spend next year on doing nothing, then eventually being forced to make the game anyway or facing said lawsuit. End result: super-rush job that was just face-lifted Cyberpunk ruleset, with so many, many mistakes, the errata bloated into 40 pages within a month after premiere (a "great" feat even for Pondsmith's dodgy standards)Does it work? Kinda. Is it good or worth playing? Not really. But he avoided a lawsuit and I think that's the only part that mattered to anyone involved
