Thinking about putting a netbook(s) about playing Big Eyes, Small Mouth campaigns set in/based on the mangas by Rumiko Takahashi (Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, Rin-ne, Mao), seeing as how Guardians of Order did RPGs for El-Hazard, Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Dominion Tank Police, Slayers, Hellsing, and more. What do I need to do in order to pull this off?

Are you looking to summarize all the characters as BESM statblocks?

I've not seen anyone use the phrase "netbook" since around the time when BESM and takahashi's manga were popular.

OP, have you just come out of a coma? Anyway, you need a text editor. Remember to make an imageless version for the people on dialup, and a version with small images on some pages for those lucky fuckers with ADSL connections.

Optimally, I'd want to give each manga a decent enough setting guidebook, come up with unique character qualities both positive and negative that would be appropriate to the setting (Jusenkyo Curses for BESM Ranma, for example), guidelines for creating your own characters in said verse, adventure hooks and campaign seeds and finally, yes, BESM stats for the major protagonists and antagonists of each series.

Which edition of BESM? Where do you plan to publish it?

Haven't really decided on an edition; I have BESM 2e corebook, but I can probably get the 3e or 4e corebook from the PDF sharethread, and as for publishing... current tentative plan is on 1d6chan, though I don't really know. I mean, I've seen a lot of projects on /tg/ get immortalized there, so why not this?

Are any of Takahashi's manga even capable of supporting an RPG campaign? I thought she only did episode comedies.

BESM is garbage, though... The nostalgia factor would be interesting, but please don't actually try to play BESM.

Urusei Yatsura, I'll give you, it's hard to see stories in that... but then, isn't "wacky high school slice of life comedic hijinks and adventures" one of the genres that BESM already covers?

Otherwise, though, you got some pretty classic adventuring set-ups in both the historical fantasies Inuyasha and Mao, with Inuyasha's Sengoku period and "find the shattered Shikon Jewel" story making for plenty of adventure hooks in particular. Rin-ne's "urban fantasy ghostbusters" backdrop should be easy enough to work with. Even Ranma 1/2 can work as basically "Street Fighter with a Slayers vibe", I think.
