I find the Marvel Multiverse RPG fascinating. The internal balance of its superpowers is virtually nonexistent. Some purchases of X value are merely okay, while other purchases of X value are "travel through time and realities," "instantly banish someone to Hell," "replicate any other superpower in the book," and the like. However, the developers seem earnestly invested in trying to dial down its most busted mechanics. Every month or two, they use three separate documents—FAQ, "Tony's Workshop," and errata—to gradually test out balance patches before finalizing them. They have a very, very long way to go, but at least they are trying.I have played and GMed this system. (And no, these were not "one player controls multiple PC" games.) Certain powers really were vastly better than others. Months later, I was surprised to learn that a few of the stronger options we used, such as Lightning Actions, were eventually given errata and toned down a bit. Just a bit.I find it endearing that this system with flyers, speedsters, and flying speedsters supports combat grids. The premade adventures even have gridded maps.Last December, the writers presented a free Marvel Rivals mini-supplement. It comes with a gridded battle map and rules for "capture the central zone, and simply respawn if you die"-type gameplay. It supports both PvP and PvE.https://www.marvel.com/articles/games/celebrate-marvel-rivals-free-marvel-multiverse-role-playing-game-add-onshttps://cdn.marvel.com/u/prod/marvel/i/pdf/MMRPG_MarvelRivals_20241220.pdfThis, I also find fascinating. How does capturing a zone on a battle grid work when some characters have normal human speed while others are hyper-fast? Particularly when the sample map's zones are very far apart? I do not know, and I am curious.Does anyone here have more experience with Marvel Multiverse, and how it fares as a grid-based tactical combat game? This Marvel Rivals game mode is supposed to work as PvP. Supposed to, anyway.
I want to get venom pregnant. Oh wait this isn’t /v/.
I've been running a local marvel game for about a year now
>>94805347And I just ran the Marvel Rivals add on, we did 2 rounds and it was a lot of fun
I'll read his later
>>94803469>The internal balance of its superpowers is virtually nonexistenttbf it's not like superheroes are balanced. While it's good for a game, your average superhero team is frequently made up of "strong guy", "smart guy", "fast guy", and "guy who's a pure construct of energy from the power dimension".
>>94809033This is an RPG wherein "make a slightly different version of a regular attack" is valued the same as "travel through time and realities," "instantly banish someone to Hell," or "replicate any other superpower in the book."
>>94803469Weirdest astroturf I've seen yet but I'm STILL not playing your chinkslop capeshit mobashooter.
>>94803469>Spiderman>resilance 3That's not very accurate to the game. Spiderman is made of tissue paper to balance out being able to cross the map at freakish speeds
