>You CAN do a hand riffle shuffle, right Anon?
>>94808231Kinda, but it's not pretty or smooth.
>>94808231I don't play card games.
>>94808231Nope, not even half assed-ly
>>94808231Yes, but I don't like to bend the cards like that.
That ruins the cards, ahole
>>94808231No, I have dyspraxia.
>>94808231I could by the time I was twelve. My mother's extended family plays a lot of 500 (it's between Bridge an Euchre), and other card games. Everyone in my family who is at least a teenager, including my niece and nephew, can. You're not really an adult if you can't even play civilized game of cards.>>94812287>>94812293It doesn't hurt the cards. The whole point is that you bend them both directions. It loosens the cards up, which is a good thing. No one wants a stiff deck. And who the hell doesn't have at least 4 fresh decks of cards around?
>>94808231Not really. I usually play with old plastic deck that's too smooth for that anyway
>>94812581That doesn't make any sense. The tension comes from your middle and ring finger supporting them as your thumb and index brace them on the shuffle. Then your thumb and the crook of your middle/index finger on the bridge. Smoothness is irrelevant. Stiffness is relevant. Which is one of the reasons you shuffle a new pack seven times to break them in a little (the other being that seven shuffles ensures random distribution).
>>94812528You're kinda weird.
Being able to bridge is normal. If you can't bridge a deck of cards, you're not allowed to play with the adults. It's like being able to type your name blindfolded before you're allowed to play video games on the computer. This is just good parenting. Also no one calls this "rifle shuffling." Maybe edge-lords and degenerate gamblers. The part that's a dexterity skill is called "bridging," and that's all that anyone refers to it by. If you can flip the pages of a book, you can do the shuffling part.
meh, nothing beats a good faro shuffle, it can preserve cards for a longer time>inb4 haha poorfag just buy another deckfuck you
>>94813340It's fine to want to preserve your cards, anon. Shuffling isn't the threat to them, though. Having them pass through a few thousand hands is. Cards go grimey and dirty long before they die to shuffles.
>>94808231Used to play cards a lot in my youth. I would do card tricks too. It's actually a useful skill to cultivate to get a chicks attention if you aren't retarded about how you show it off. Learned all the shuffles. Used to spend hours practicing while watching TV or whatever. Then three years ago my arm was lost in a workplace accident. I then learned how to do it with just one hand. So if you don't have any better excuses than me I guess you're just weak
>>94812287A decent set of playing cards can take it. TCG cards are printed in comparatively vast quantities so they're made of cheaper materials.
>>94813340Faro shuffling is NOT shuffling. It's trivial to make it non-random and people do it by accident even when they aren't actively cheating.
>>94812528>It doesn't hurt the cards>>94813511>A decent set of playing cards can take it.I've seen plenty decks get fucked up doing it. It's a fancy casino shuffle because they get rid of all their cards by the end of the night. Unless you too want to replace your cards often then I advise you don't do it.
>>94812528>It doesn't hurt the cards. The whole point is that you bend them both directionsIs this the fabled American education?>The surface was bend in, and then out>This doesn't affect the tensile strength of the objectUnless this is a tourney and we are playing using standard, cheap and mass produced cards that are going to be tossed out after play - you are an asshole and deserve to be punched in the face. To say nothing it's one of the easiest way to plant cards and switch their order. Also, friendly reminder there is no better shuffling method than just throwing the cards on the table and move them around with your hands in circular movements. Nothing gets even close to the random results of it, and it can't be cheated in any way. But it doesn't look fancy nor professional, so fat fuck's that could afford tossing away cards after a single night of playing invented all those "fancy" card shuffling tricks.
>>94814228Maybe you're just shit at it.
>>94814228>>94814640You guys should actually play cards, instead of talking about playing them. Bridging your cards absolutely does not harm them. Or at least, harms them so little that they will get gross and grimey from being handled long before they'll get meaningfully harmed by being bridged. You're wrong but you don't play cards so you don't know it. I do play a lot of cards so I do know it.
>>94808231No, but my wife can, so I always make her do it.
>>94815122>Bridging your cards absolutely does not harm them.>Or at least, harms them so littleSo which one is it?And I guess someone should tell you there are OTHER cards than the standard ones, you dumb shit
>>94808231Yes, but only on MTG decks
>>94815351Anon I'm just telling you what playing with cards is like. You can vicariously learn something so that you don't have to experience the big scary world.
>>94815351You must be buying those shit "plastic coated" cards.
>>94815355This, especially if they aren't mine
>>94815122I want you to know that this kind of incredibly insane hyperparanoid posting pattern is unique to this dying era of this particular website so you need to watch for that when hiding your power level in the future. It's a unique derangement and it marks you out. Best of luck to your recovery.
>>94812629>(the other being that seven shuffles ensures random distribution).Deboonk'd
>>94812528unfathomably basedi learned how to count as a child playing blackjack and 31 with my grandfather. go fish and, later, poker, helped build pattern recognition skills and they worked so well that people all over the internet call me a schizo for asking 'why all the chessboards all the time?'>>94813178card games are the most based type of game and I'm tired of pretending they're not
>>94815361>You can vicariously learn something so that you don't have to experience the big scary world.you're sperging about riffling cards you fruity faggot
>>94817036>>94817197Really got under your skin for some reason. Anons, you won't hurt cards by shuffling them. That's just not how playing cards are made. They are coated in plastic and will die from other things long before shuffling causes any significant wear. That's just how they're made.
>>94818283*looks at your pile of curled cards*yeeeahhh right...
>>94808231It serves no practical purpose, so why bother?
>>94820523>shuffles the cards effectively>doesn't require a table
>>94812293Oh no, I'm going to have to spend a whole $7 for a 2 pack at CVS eventually. The horror.
>>94820523You shuffle three times between deals. Being able to shuffle quickly is a matter of etiquette. It's about being polite to other players when it's your shuffle. Like not picking up all the cards before they've been dealt, and never passing the cut. It's just manners.
>>94808231with 1 hand
>>94812293>Not a big deal for playing cards.Shuffling your Yugioh deck like this though lmao.
>>94822999Nothing, ever, is "just manners." All things have a purpose and a design. Sometimes it's just to flex control over someone else. You sound like a dim-witted asshole, not polite.
