Swear to God if he shines that flashlight in my eyes one more time I'm gonna break his fucking neck, dress him in that Santa Suit, and stuff his corpse down the chimney. This shit Baron Samedi is dealing with is exactly why you don't hire AssMites to do your killing; they don't know the first thing about subtlety. They're like that Jap kid blindsiding the target on live TV. You want it done quiet you gotta hire someone who had to avoid being seen 24/7. Like me. Hatchling 01/15/25(Wed)19:27:10 No. 94815021 Alright, as I said, I finally managed to drag the family history and in extension the nature of whomever has invaded my mind from father. Our family used to collectively adhere to the Path of Metamorphosis. Father, sister dearest and a long-lost brother. It’s usually a path travelled alone, but my grandsire put the cogs in motion of some kind of tenuous research collective amongst a few of the more zealous western-European Tzimisce. They took the whole “turning into a dragon” thing quite literally, at least, that’s what I gleaned from the codex that used to belong to the lost brother. It describes the process of him descending further and further into madness as he kept augmenting his physical form. So blinded by his own ambition he was, that he burned the candle at both ends, pushing his body to its absolute limit while slowly succumbing to insanity. Brother became something twisted, even by fiend standards. Eventually one of his experiments went catastrophically wrong. Supposedly he obliterated his body while trying to bind himself to a spirit in a bid to transcend his corporeal form. Whatever remained of him got sealed away by my sire, followed by both father and sister dearest abandoning their path. Seeing his fate as an inevitability should they continue down this road. What I encountered that first time experimenting with Koldunic rites were the still burning remnants of his soul that had slipped its bonds in the aftermath of my fight with sister dearest. In that moment we established a connection and some small part of him fused with me, resulting in a condition not unlike botched diablerie. So yeah, in short, man-made horrors no longer beyond my comprehension. >>
Chelys Rex 01/15/25(Wed)19:30:50 No. 94815041 >>94803197 Some have tried. All have failed. Usually some day or so old finding me from here. If my spirits and house items don’t get them, Jimothy or Ted usually intercept them. Be they busy, I’ll handle it in a : personal: manner. All are impaled and left for the sun, Jimothy keeping watch. They meet final death not for attacking me, nor for trespassing, but for violating the Tzimisce NAP, which we all discover as apparently we’re all autocratic-libertarians.>>94803410 So be ye a baali then, or merely someone who dwells with the infernal fallen? We’re all mostly anon here. >>94807851 It goes well. Ted is the local champion, though he’s on rest for the month. Three ghoulodiles and an attempt on his life left him moderately wounded. It’s been local brujah and gangrels fighting the creatures or each other for free drinks for the night. Business goes well. Nossies have to stay in the VIP members only area sadly, they’re all chill. The occasional kindred can fight Jimothy is they want, but none have succeeded. >>94814060 Well, I’m fairly certain I’m fourth, unless my sire was lying to me. My dominate is enough to match a Malkavian’s dementation of I want to break someone instantly. He was the last patron as I was closing up. Someone had told me I would being a good lad that night. Weird I thought, but whatever. Then as I was shutting down, he sat at the bar. Ordered a drink. I said last call was an hour ago dude. Next I know I’m pouring him a drink. 1/2>>

He told me his auspex allows him to keep a sense of his few childer remaining. When he found out his eldest childe had died, he started investigating. Some favors and some skulduggery later, he finds us here, and thus me. He said he tolerates my diablerizing my site only because he had willed it. Otherwise, I’d be decorating my roof at this moment. As his effective childe now, and a “pretender” I will be under close observation by the league. He knew of the Tal’Mahe’Ra beckoning me. Said he had organized that as a test. Most of the old line usually hop in. My desire to be my own ruler is surprising for one young and of powerful blood. My wards and handle of koldunism is something he hasn’t seen since the early Renaissance. He then bid me to sleep and I woke up the next day. Jimothy said I simply walked straight to bed that night, no discussing business or anything. I have a feeling he’ll be back regularly.>>

Anonymous 01/15/25(Wed)20:00:18 No. 94815173 >>94815041 No, see, third is the Antediluvians, right? Fourth is the direct childer of the antediluvians, they could be anywhere from 4,000 to 5,000,000 years old. I mean fourth is legendary, they're both powerful and old enough to know everything there is to know about their power. As far as I'm aware people don't even diablerize up to 4th generation. You hear about people diablerizing to 5th, usually 6th, but 4 is on the cusp of the unattainable, definitely unmaintainable. The 4th generation guys probably eat us, is what I'm getting at, a vampire that old is a legend, they're above society, if they see us at all, they see us like ants, right? 4th generation guys are like Superman, but like, in those continuities where Superman can piss a hole through Jupiter all the way from Pluto, they watched humans invent the wheel, blinked, and the internet had already happened, you know what I mean? They're like the closest thing to antediluvian that's still alive and awake, not to mention actually real. It's the closest our curse gets to caine or whatever original "caine" there is, you get me? Basically, please just tell me there's not actually one in the US. I haven't shit in 120 years, but I would. I would shit.>>

Ascending ones condition, yes, but not by becoming a spirit. Channel the eldest, and look to the earth itself. Bond to EVERY mote of life in your dwelling. From the eagle, to the buffalo, to the dust mites in your eyelashes, to the virus dwelling in the soil, ALL must be in communion with you. From there, you will not need to feed, for you feed off of them. Their basic metabolic activities fuel you. You will transcend humanity, kindred even, and achieve the Azhi Dahaca. >>94815158 >>94815173 I’m gonna keep on keeping on here. No one else saw him apparently and my security feed never shows him, just me giving a drink to an empty space. I had heard of this generation effectively having some handle of all disciplines, I suppose it’s true. I personally have noticed my thirst increasing beyond what it once was. Easy explanation is that the reason nobody competant has tried is that they know the prize is a fake. Hell, just your sire's death would be front page news in any elysium worth a damn. And there's an unaccounted for methuselah, not on any books, that nobody has ever heard of, that only you have seen, wandering around in broad view of all and sundry and every camera, not even leaving a psychic trace. And you diablerized a methuselah of the fifth (or fourth according to your later testimony, lol) generation, yet nobody there has reported your having the characteristic marks of a diablerist in your aura. Nameless, Unknown, Lacking Lin(...) 01/16/25(Thu)01:40:19 No. 94816692 >>94807209 >1/2 You ask what led me to these beliefs. The answer is time. Time to witness the consequences of the failure of Kindred society to confront the root causes of its own problems, and the mistakes that we as a species have refused to acknowledge, much less correct. At Thorns, we didn’t solve the problem—we admitted defeat. We abused mortals, and mortals pushed back. Hunters didn’t rise from nowhere—they rose because we gave them every reason to. The burning times weren’t divine retribution; they were the natural result of predators who thought themselves untouchable. And when mortals proved us wrong, instead of reflecting on our failure, we hid. The Masquerade, while powerful, was not the stroke of genius most of our people make it out to be. It was a confession. And this is what it said: “We can’t govern ourselves." "We can’t stop ourselves." "We don't want to change our ways." "The best we can do is hide from the people we claim to be superior to.” "All so we can keep doing what we’ve done for millennia." The formation of the Camarilla is nothing more than the formalisation of that failure. And to add insult to injury: in trying to fix Kindred’s problems, we didn’t look inward—we looked to mortals. We copied their governance, their hierarchies, their systems of law and punishment. We mimicked their feudal structures and called it innovation. And then, we dared to claim that mortals must have learned it from us. This wasn’t leadership—it was incompetence. Laziness. Cowardice. A people who claim to be eternal should have been capable of creating something greater, something truly timeless. Instead, we copied those who provide us with the sustenance we need to survive, and patted ourselves on the back for it.>1/2 >>
Nameless, Unknown, Lacking Lin(...) 01/16/25(Thu)01:41:26 No. 94816697 >>94807209 >2/2 And the ultimate self-inflicted twist of the knife: the Camarilla was built on the idea that authority comes from violence. By that logic, mortals are the ones who rule over us. The mobs we fear, like the sunlight we flee, the institutions we dare not cross like the rivers of myth—it is mortals who hold the power that keeps us in line. The Masquerade isn’t enforced out of Kindred wisdom or strength; it’s enforced through mortal ignorance and the fear of what happens if we fail to maintain it. This is why I reject all governance that doesn't begin with the self. They are a farce—a mask over the same rot that brought us to Thorns. Thorns could have been a foundational stone for something greater, but that has never happened. And will never happen. The Camarilla stands unchanged, immutable, stubborn like the Elders that perpetrated it. You say you’ve seen only evidence that Kindred require a firm hand. I would ask: who benefits from that hand? Those who cannot control themselves may need guidance, but is that guidance truly for their sake, or for the convenience of those who claim to lead? Rules mean nothing if they are rooted in control, not understanding. They create obedience, not growth. If Kindred are ever to rise above their current state, we must first learn to rule ourselves as individuals, before we start talking about leading a collective. Through mastering our own Beast and the eternal wisdom of our kind, we can empower ourselves and others. Only then can they even begin to consider leading mortals—or anything greater. Until that day, we’re just parasites pretending to be kings.>2/2 >>

As for my Deal, I have seen the so-called power of the Fallen and their lies back at Ceoris, and that sort of “power” interests me not. My bargain wasn’t with anything that treads this earth, much less anything bound to it. I bartered with something from the deepest parts of the spiritual world—something beyond comprehension. At first, it wanted a piece of my soul and my memories. As I would part with neither, something else was brought to the table. Something I've long wanted to leave behind, but couldn't find a way to do it. Like I've said before, smashing one problem with another problem isn't always the most elegant solution, but it tends to be cost-effective. And in my 'loss', I gained the most important and rarest of all magical knowledge, ensuring I would never again have need for such dangerous dealings. I wouldn’t call myself an Infernalist for that. Then again, I don’t call myself anything at all. As for Deals With Devils, I have taken a rare few contracts from the Fallen on occasion, just as I have with the Fera, the Fae, and all manner of creatures that walk the night. Such agreements are always a fascinating study in ambition, desperation, and curiosity. But the vast majority of my clients are those who call the spiritual expanse their home in some form or another. As above, so below, and being one of the very few Kindred that can interact with the different planes has brought me a wealth of opportunity. Those that have a problem, if no one can help, if they can find me, then maybe they can hire... Me.>>

And it answers the question it raises itself; what happens to all the childe of some 600 year plus autark who abandons them moments after the embrace? They end up on a plate or executioner's block. Simple as. One of the many, many problems with Chelys' story is that his sire died like a bitch, yet somehow he never died like a bitch in all the hundreds of years before despite being just as stupid and more widely known and disliked and significantly less powerful that whole time. This is compounded by the fact that Chelys has not immediately died like a bitch right after, even though the supposed elders are both gone now and the claimed blood prize is still right there. And all this recent hullabaloo was was a single pack of mangy lupines, that both the elders died to, somehow, as if vampires can't regenerate. You know that I believe this earnestly because I haven't gone up there and made a meal of a southern style old clan kabob. For comparison, if we believe every part of stripper's story, the consistent next point in my mind is that there is a sabbat elder or pack of elders who has decided that making childe to imprint their values on to effect a change in the operations of the sabbat is a good idea. The setting chelys takes place in is a small neighborhood about 30minutes away from the nearest city. At least two hours away from the nearest metroplex. Three elders have an immense appetite just to stay active. Even running a bar, that many people going missing presented a logistical issue. While the nearest city may actually be a trafficking hub, I’m not one to put that into my stories. Body horror is one thing, that is another. Anyways, three big appetites to feed in a small area bodes poorly even with allies in both sects keeping things peaceful. The moment a cop or a cute kid gets killed, all the people would be in a tizzy. The only logical path was for both the elders to be killed off. Playing into the Texan posting I had been doing, and the mental downturn my sire had been in, which I had talked about several times, it made sense for them to die in a last stand of sorts. Secondly, the idea of Chelys is based off what does one do when given immense power but horrifically unprepared for it? Does he rise to greatness, or crumble underneath it? It’s a good writing prompt. Lastly, I’m not an author dude. I’m literally a scientist. Creativeness is not my strong suit. It’s not a call for global revolution or systemic overthrow—it’s far simpler, and far more personal. Self-determination is a (mindset) revolution of the Self, not of the Collective. It doesn’t require mastery over others, and thus it does not demand sects or hierarchies dismantled for it to take effect. It begins and ends with a single decision: to take matters into your own hands, to master your own Beast, and to empower yourself so that no one else can rule over you. At first glance, this might seem self-centred—perhaps even self-indulgent. But self-mastery means reigning in not only external forces but your own desires and impulses as well. You are free to do what you want, or you are free to want what you want—but you cannot have both. I chose to have the former, not the later. Empowering others is a natural extension of this philosophy. When you help others govern themselves, you create alliances built on mutual respect and shared strength. Tyranny, whether by individuals or institutions, thrives on isolation and disempowerment. But a union of the self-governed—the free—is a force that no tyrant can easily overcome. Still, this is not a system I impose on others—it’s one I choose for myself. I already live it; it’s my decision, my responsibility. But the more who walk this path, the stronger we all become—not through rule or revolution, but through mutual growth. Unlife, after all, is too long to waste in servitude—and far too interesting to walk alone.>>94819900 (again) If given the chance, I could write endlessly about my views and philosophy—but now I’m curious about yours. After my Deal, I needed to disappear from Kindred society and lay low for a time. I thought life as a family man in the American countryside would provide a simple cover. As for how I had children who bore such a striking resemblance to me, despite my condition, well... that’s a complicated story. They were blood-related to who I was before my Deal and my Embrace, but genetically, they weren’t my offspring. I wasn’t their father in the biological sense—though no one, including my wife, ever knew otherwise. For a time, I thought this arrangement was enough. But as my wife aged, she would often speak of our children and the legacy we would leave behind. That’s when the weight of my deception grew unbearable. To hide such a truth from someone I truly loved—it left me with regrets I still carry. I vowed never to cross that line again if I were to ever take another lover. Now, to your question. In recent years, there have been... rumors. I’ve heard whispers of thin-bloods, particularly in California, giving birth. Some claim they’re anomalies, one-off cases. Others say it’s a trait unique to their diluted Vitae. I have even wondered if their condition, through its inherent instability, might hold the key to unlocking something once thought impossible for us all. There’s a certain school of Blood Magic that can temporarily draw one’s Vitae closer to Caine. In theory, if that process were reversed—if one could weaken their Vitae rather than strengthen it—who’s to say what might be possible? At least for male Kindred. You may think this is pure speculation—and I would not blame you. But consider this: if even the lowest of our kind can reach the farthest corners of the unknown, who’s to say what lies just beyond our understanding? Phrenolopher 01/17/25(Fri)14:05:19 No. 94829445 I missed the whole thing about powerscaling and god-tier vampires of weird clans and low generations, but it is something I've been thinking about for a bit now. Phrenolopher is really the only named character I post as. I posting as him for a few reasons, a lot of it is his long-antiquated understanding of neurology and the mind, but the fact that psychics in WoD (Of the mage variety, anyways) are REALLY underdeveloped, so it leaves a lot of room for fucking around without some sort of big-ass lore conflict that makes it obvious I don't know much about MtA, but it also leaves me a lot of breathing room in terms of power. If you look into what a psychic can do in Mage, it's pretty substantial. A vampire with proficiency in most of those abilities would be like an 8/10 in terms of power, if you wanted to take it all the way and decide that things like astral projecting and psychic vampirism can work in tandem for a kindred, it could very well even be an extinction-level threat. If I made Phrenolopher a villain in a campaign, I would certainly consider making him some kind of esoteric mind-vampire as an end goal of his to grow in power and rule the earth, but that's not for /schreck/. On the other hand, there's honestly an appeal to making him still very weak and early into his psychic enhancements, or maybe even just an outright fraud/failure, but that sounds like it would be pretty much the end of posting as him, since he would have no credit and nobody would really listen to him anymore. I've kept really vague about where he is, somewhere within the range of "struggling mad genius" to "proficient mad genius", while also not posting much about his progress in his research. I'm kind of curious of a few things. What, if anything, did others see him as? Would it be more interesting if Phrenolopher had some sort of psychic insight or some power to flex on /schreck/? Is he more interesting if he kind of sucks at what he does? I'd like to know! >>

It is hardly new, but evidence is sparse. One apocryphal story has Caine embracing a pair of lovers, who killed themselves when they realized they could no longer have children. But that was two vampires. Whatever the explanation is, there is a reason your predecessor let this one go. Let the poor woman be. Though I am curious on one thing. You said thinbloods and "the like". Are you sure that this woman is thinblooded? >>94827810 Protection and networking. Neither should be underestimated or disregarded. >>94829445 I really like Phrenolopher, actually. He's well mannered, does begrudgingly acknowledge his clan's alignment with the Sabbat, and his antiquated ideas about the brain help him feel his age, especially combined with the Tzimisce tendency to become walking anachronisms. Personally, I think it's very easy to lose what makes a character interesting when you focus only on how strong they are/can become and it risks being indulgent in a medium where the only person who can truly knock the character down a peg is you. Right now he doesn't seem like a loser or overly indulgent to me. I really don't like Mage, but psychics are a fairly well established urban fantasy fixture on their own, you have a lot of material to work with there without ever needing to bring up Mage. If I can make a suggestion on how you could have your cake and eat it too? Tzimisce are some of the most prolific ghoul users, in no small part because they lack both dominate and presence as in-clans, meaning they have to lean on the blood bond more if they want to be a "ruler" clan. Phrenolopher can't give himself psychic abilities, but he does finally crack the code on how to warp someone's cranium to create (horribly twisted and insane) psychic ghouls reliably. >>
Hatchling 01/17/25(Fri)15:18:53 No. 94829978 >>94829445 To me Phrenolopher embodies the "vampire obsessed with something niche" trope perfectly. Thus I think that keeping the research vague but plausible, as you've done so far makes him a more interesting character, as it grounds him in a way. Personally I wouldn't mind a smaller breakthrough, if only to move the character forward a little bit. Apart from that, having him chime in on hatchling's posts as a of voice of reason was one of the things that made it incredibly fun to post back when I got started with the character. Through those early interactions I've grown to really like the character you've written so far. >>94829808 The psychic ghouls are a really cool idea. I fully agree with everything here. >>

I'd actually thought about the idea of Phrenolopher either not being able to use the abilities, or them being too impractical for him to use, and that he would instead use ghouls or even diminutive psychic szlachta, something that doesn't need many complex bodily processes or functions to fight like others do, but instead simply float through the air and launch projectiles telekinetically or attack the mind directly. I also thought he may be able to use these abilities, but only through "gizmos" he'd have to use to interface when them, or psychic "weapons" he would use that project the abilities themselves with his input. Either way, I guess it's paid to stay vague, even if it was because I was indecisive about the character himself. >>
LadyBlueBlood 01/17/25(Fri)17:11:17 No. 94830880 >>94830504 Personally, and this is just my opinion, I think a hard limit to minions only would be the right call. It plays to the Tzimisce strength of relying on small armies of ghouls, will be more plausible for other posters and potential players if you want to use him as a BBEG. Speaking of as a campaign villain, it also provides a clear point of weakness for him that explains why he isn't willing to risk a direct confrontation with the PCs. And honestly the sky is the limit for what kind of psychic szlachta you could create. Heck if you wanted to use him as a campaign villain, you could tie the plot into /schreck/. I know Blue for one would warn her elders if she heard about a Tzimisce with a psychic army, and you could post updates for the campaign from his perspective, though it might be hard to regale us with the story of his Final Death when the story ends. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed Phrenolopher. >>

This is possibly a biased response because I'm completely blasé to psionics, having a lot more time in VtR than VtM, but he comes across as plenty normal for a major NPC. Pretty sure nothing I've seen you describe is out of the realm of like auspex 5 + thaum 4 though, and even the most exaggerated interpretation of what he has claimed would still only be auspex 7-8 + MotM 4. Meanwhile, Consensus—the Norwegian company that now holds the rights to WoS—is still run by some Magickal Accountant Man. Their headquarters was built atop an old ancestral site once owned by the Norwegian Tax Agency, so naturally, it’s a nexus of creative misery. Rumour has it the same Wan Kuei group funding the French Ventrue at Scarcity has also partnered with Consensus to greenlight a Revenant sequel. It’s nice to see undead IPs getting resurrected, though I hear this time the lore’s going to be even more "streamlined" for mass consumption, throwing even more Mortals off about our dear Kindred society.Scarcity Software = Ubiquotuous Software (Ubisoft), naturally.
