Alright, as I said, I finally managed to drag the family history and in extension the nature of whomever has invaded my mind from father.

Our family used to collectively adhere to the Path of Metamorphosis. Father, sister dearest and a long-lost brother.
It’s usually a path travelled alone, but my grandsire put the cogs in motion of some kind of tenuous research collective amongst a few of the more zealous western-European Tzimisce. They took the whole “turning into a dragon” thing quite literally, at least, that’s what I gleaned from the codex that used to belong to the lost brother.

It describes the process of him descending further and further into madness as he kept augmenting his physical form. So blinded by his own ambition he was, that he burned the candle at both ends, pushing his body to its absolute limit while slowly succumbing to insanity. Brother became something twisted, even by fiend standards.

Eventually one of his experiments went catastrophically wrong. Supposedly he obliterated his body while trying to bind himself to a spirit in a bid to transcend his corporeal form.
Whatever remained of him got sealed away by my sire, followed by both father and sister dearest abandoning their path. Seeing his fate as an inevitability should they continue down this road.

What I encountered that first time experimenting with Koldunic rites were the still burning remnants of his soul that had slipped its bonds in the aftermath of my fight with sister dearest. In that moment we established a connection and some small part of him fused with me, resulting in a condition not unlike botched diablerie.

So yeah, in short, man-made horrors no longer beyond my comprehension.

Hunters didn’t rise from nowhere—they rose because we gave them every reason to.
The burning times weren’t divine retribution; they were the natural result of predators who thought themselves untouchable.
And when mortals proved us wrong, instead of reflecting on our failure, we hid.

The Masquerade, while powerful, was not the stroke of genius most of our people make it out to be.
It was a confession. And this is what it said:
“We can’t govern ourselves."
"We can’t stop ourselves."
"We don't want to change our ways."
"The best we can do is hide from the people we claim to be superior to.”
"All so we can keep doing what we’ve done for millennia."

The formation of the Camarilla is nothing more than the formalisation of that failure.
And to add insult to injury: in trying to fix Kindred’s problems, we didn’t look inward—we looked to mortals.
We copied their governance, their hierarchies, their systems of law and punishment.
We mimicked their feudal structures and called it innovation.
And then, we dared to claim that mortals must have learned it from us.

This wasn’t leadership—it was incompetence. Laziness. Cowardice.
A people who claim to be eternal should have been capable of creating something greater, something truly timeless.
Instead, we copied those who provide us with the sustenance we need to survive, and patted ourselves on the back for it.

If Kindred are ever to rise above their current state, we must first learn to rule ourselves as individuals, before we start talking about leading a collective.
Through mastering our own Beast and the eternal wisdom of our kind, we can empower ourselves and others.
Only then can they even begin to consider leading mortals—or anything greater.

But the vast majority of my clients are those who call the spiritual expanse their home in some form or another.
As above, so below, and being one of the very few Kindred that can interact with the different planes has brought me a wealth of opportunity.

It's not standard policy for sure but it was too good an offer for the Assamites to pass up and the Camarilla is in a pretty shitty situation. They control a huge city but, aside from our little historic town (technically part of the same metropolitan area), pretty much every other town or city in the state is firmly under Sabbat control. The Sabbat haven't mounted another full blown siege, but they send raids practically every other night. I heard the Lasombra antitribu Primogen and his childe got dusted by a some Sabbat super assassin recently.

That's kinda why I'm hanging onto our sexy snake lady's phone. I need to figure out what's going on and decide what I should do with her and the Assamite. If this a Camarilla thing, I might need offer her up as an apology because we need stable relations with the Cammies right now.

The setting chelys takes place in is a small neighborhood about 30minutes away from the nearest city. At least two hours away from the nearest metroplex. Three elders have an immense appetite just to stay active. Even running a bar, that many people going missing presented a logistical issue. While the nearest city may actually be a trafficking hub, I’m not one to put that into my stories. Body horror is one thing, that is another. Anyways, three big appetites to feed in a small area bodes poorly even with allies in both sects keeping things peaceful. The moment a cop or a cute kid gets killed, all the people would be in a tizzy. The only logical path was for both the elders to be killed off. Playing into the Texan posting I had been doing, and the mental downturn my sire had been in, which I had talked about several times, it made sense for them to die in a last stand of sorts.
Secondly, the idea of Chelys is based off what does one do when given immense power but horrifically unprepared for it? Does he rise to greatness, or crumble underneath it? It’s a good writing prompt.
Lastly, I’m not an author dude. I’m literally a scientist. Creativeness is not my strong suit. I occasionally write poetry, and play music, but that’s the limit of my artistic ability. Most of my writings here are going to be cartoonishly bad. We are on 4chan after all, a place not exactly known for highbrow literature.

If I can weigh in here I think we're making a mountain out of a molehill with the in character skepticism to the stories told. "After all, the night is full of falsehoods and half-remembered rumors" is in the OP. I wouldn't construe it as a personal attack if someone says you're a liar IC, I kinda find it funny that most of the time when Blue is called a liar she's telling the truth or giving her honest opinion. /schreck/ has been largely a wonderfully positive and constructive place so far, I think we can give the benefit of the doubt. Especially since the skepticism towards someone of weird clan and low gen dates back to the Triclops and SirKrabat days at least. I mean we say some nasty shit to each other IC already. I missed the whole thing about powerscaling and god-tier vampires of weird clans and low generations, but it is something I've been thinking about for a bit now. Phrenolopher is really the only named character I post as. I posting as him for a few reasons, a lot of it is his long-antiquated understanding of neurology and the mind, but the fact that psychics in WoD (Of the mage variety, anyways) are REALLY underdeveloped, so it leaves a lot of room for fucking around without some sort of big-ass lore conflict that makes it obvious I don't know much about MtA, but it also leaves me a lot of breathing room in terms of power.
If you look into what a psychic can do in Mage, it's pretty substantial. A vampire with proficiency in most of those abilities would be like an 8/10 in terms of power, if you wanted to take it all the way and decide that things like astral projecting and psychic vampirism can work in tandem for a kindred, it could very well even be an extinction-level threat. If I made Phrenolopher a villain in a campaign, I would certainly consider making him some kind of esoteric mind-vampire as an end goal of his to grow in power and rule the earth, but that's not for /schreck/. On the other hand, there's honestly an appeal to making him still very weak and early into his psychic enhancements, or maybe even just an outright fraud/failure, but that sounds like it would be pretty much the end of posting as him, since he would have no credit and nobody would really listen to him anymore.
I've kept really vague about where he is, somewhere within the range of "struggling mad genius" to "proficient mad genius", while also not posting much about his progress in his research.
I'm kind of curious of a few things. What, if anything, did others see him as? Would it be more interesting if Phrenolopher had some sort of psychic insight or some power to flex on /schreck/? Is he more interesting if he kind of sucks at what he does? I'd like to know!

I really like Phrenolopher, actually. He's well mannered, does begrudgingly acknowledge his clan's alignment with the Sabbat, and his antiquated ideas about the brain help him feel his age, especially combined with the Tzimisce tendency to become walking anachronisms. Personally, I think it's very easy to lose what makes a character interesting when you focus only on how strong they are/can become and it risks being indulgent in a medium where the only person who can truly knock the character down a peg is you. Right now he doesn't seem like a loser or overly indulgent to me. I really don't like Mage, but psychics are a fairly well established urban fantasy fixture on their own, you have a lot of material to work with there without ever needing to bring up Mage.

If I can make a suggestion on how you could have your cake and eat it too? Tzimisce are some of the most prolific ghoul users, in no small part because they lack both dominate and presence as in-clans, meaning they have to lean on the blood bond more if they want to be a "ruler" clan. Phrenolopher can't give himself psychic abilities, but he does finally crack the code on how to warp someone's cranium to create (horribly twisted and insane) psychic ghouls reliably.

To me Phrenolopher embodies the "vampire obsessed with something niche" trope perfectly. Thus I think that keeping the research vague but plausible, as you've done so far makes him a more interesting character, as it grounds him in a way. Personally I wouldn't mind a smaller breakthrough, if only to move the character forward a little bit. Apart from that, having him chime in on hatchling's posts as a of voice of reason was one of the things that made it incredibly fun to post back when I got started with the character. Through those early interactions I've grown to really like the character you've written so far.

I'd actually thought about the idea of Phrenolopher either not being able to use the abilities, or them being too impractical for him to use, and that he would instead use ghouls or even diminutive psychic szlachta, something that doesn't need many complex bodily processes or functions to fight like others do, but instead simply float through the air and launch projectiles telekinetically or attack the mind directly.
I also thought he may be able to use these abilities, but only through "gizmos" he'd have to use to interface when them, or psychic "weapons" he would use that project the abilities themselves with his input.
Either way, I guess it's paid to stay vague, even if it was because I was indecisive about the character himself.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I think a hard limit to minions only would be the right call. It plays to the Tzimisce strength of relying on small armies of ghouls, will be more plausible for other posters and potential players if you want to use him as a BBEG. Speaking of as a campaign villain, it also provides a clear point of weakness for him that explains why he isn't willing to risk a direct confrontation with the PCs. And honestly the sky is the limit for what kind of psychic szlachta you could create. Heck if you wanted to use him as a campaign villain, you could tie the plot into /schreck/. I know Blue for one would warn her elders if she heard about a Tzimisce with a psychic army, and you could post updates for the campaign from his perspective, though it might be hard to regale us with the story of his Final Death when the story ends. The way you interacted with sark never really gave me the impression that you had >5dots in anything or that you were ahead of the curve of what average player characters were normally doing. This is possibly a biased response because I'm completely blasé to psionics, having a lot more time in VtR than VtM, but he comes across as plenty normal for a major NPC.

Pretty sure nothing I've seen you describe is out of the realm of like auspex 5 + thaum 4 though, and even the most exaggerated interpretation of what he has claimed would still only be auspex 7-8 + MotM 4.
Hell, Dark Thaumaturgy paths have psionic feeding at 5 (Phobos 5: Leech of Fear) and psionic assaults at 1 (Taking of the Spirit). I think you're over estimating how rare and difficult these abilities are.
