Hey /tg/ do you play Risus?I'd like to try it as a first-time DM with first time players but I don't know what to expect and prepare for and I don't want to spill my spaghettis everywhere. Some kind of playthrough or any advice really would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
>>94829961Make all players have between 3 and 4 cliches, and cap each cliche at 4d6.
>>94830064Yeah I think I could handle charater creationbut I'm more orried about the actual gameplayespecially the combat and teamup rules.Did you play it? Could you provide me with a small greentext of how it went?
>>94830142I'm not doing that because I find your low-effort OP image offensive to the hobby. I've run Risus more than a hundred times, easily. Here: https://www.risusiverse.com/home/rule-elucidation
In my limited experience minimalist games don't work well with inexperienced players, or worse GMs, because they don't give you any clue how to do anything.
>>94830166>a catgirl is offensive>on /tg/ oh how the mighty have fallen
>>94830279I'd say the same.something well structured is better.I just gm'd something for a new player hours ago and he really seemed lost on what to do during the normal roleplaying part regardless of my guidance, but everything picked up great afterwards in combat since turns and rules gave him a way clearer idea of things.
>>94830364nta but the OP catgirl is not even cute or hot, plus all the text makes her seem more annoying than anything eslse.Still better than some guy's ugly catgirl waifu, which I've seen spammed many times.
>>94830364Generated shitpost templates are not fun or interesting and none of it has anything to do with traditional games.
>>94830279Seconding this, I had an awful experience with Troika. I managed to react and make things flow, but I could tell the players needed some guidelines the game wasn't giving to them. Minimalistic games expect the player to make their own fun, and without experience to reference they are left too on the spotlight.
>>94831579>player tells you what he wants his PC to do>you tell him which cliche to rolleZee pZee
>>94832372nta but>>player tells you what he wants his PC to dothis can actually be very hard with noob players
>>94832372someone answered already, but yeah. Murderhobos are usually the result of not knowing what options you have and devolving into violence just to affect something. Railroading isn't usually the better option. Some games give a more limited spread of options and that gives you better prompts to do stuff, Mothership for example.
>>94830534She's a cute and hot dumb cat gf
>>94834255It's a drawing of none of those things.
