I'm playing in a pirates of drinax campaign. This is the first time I've gotten to play Traveller proper. Thus far it has been fun. We've been playing pic related version. However it has made me curious about the different versions of traveller. What are the major differences and what version would you recommend?

>>94846539No, the jump drive is malfunctioning still and there's some other stuff. Last malfunction lead to the spacebug alien encounter though, which was fun. We got so the gray market area now and try to find a way to make money.
>be me>haven't played tabletop games in years>okay maybe like a decade even wtf>lurk this board>daydream>imagine going online to find a group>join traveller campaign>roll up character>play>integrate well with party>gain trust & respect of other players/characters>two or three hours into the game>while everyone else is doing ev work outside>arrange to be the only person aboard our ship>steal ship>abandon rest of party stranded in deep space>savor their salt>laugh my way to some random planet>sell the ship>live like a king in some backwater city>but it's just a daydream>in my mind>and here>on this forum>for (You) to readHas anyone ever done this?
>>94842571They're all really compatible forward and backward with a few exceptions. As far as I could tell it's just some finer details about how to handle certain situations rules wise like simultaneous actions. Da Archive has a file with a detailed explanation about differences if you're interested.>>94847283You geniunely need to seek help before you blow your brains out
>>94846619>Last malfunction lead to the spacebug alien encounterThe Chimax? We had it stuffed and mounted on our trophy wall.>try to find a way to make moneyIf you can get enough of the interior fixed up, something my group is currently doing is discreetly transporting VIPs and such between systems. There is a considerable chunk of change you can make doing so, for the low price of Steward 1 or 2, and hopefully not getting blown up by past enemies,It's not big money, but a handful of people traveling 2-3 systems away will pay for ship maintenance costs all on their own.>Advice from a seasoned spaceThe Harrier is good at what it does, but it is NOT a dogfighter. Spend the creds to get your EC up to at least +4, and take ruthless advantage of it's advanced stealth system (enemies need to locate you again from scratch every time you change range bands!) and early jump system, which means you can stick and move (also rob) from between 90 and 100 diameters, and vanish before anyone can catch you. It's gotten me paid.Stay safe out there, Traveller!
