Finished these ladders. They were more fun to paint than I thought they'd be.
>>
>>94850544
Is them being on bases going to mess up how they work in game?
>>
>>94850557
A tiny bit, since you start climbing the feature with a slight offset in some circumstances, but my group is fine with fudging it.

Tried to paint a mini with no washes... please say something nice. I know the brushwork is pretty chunky, but I'd like to think I did pretty well defining all the major volumes in a way that makes sense?
>>
>>94850840
It's great, way better than a wash. You've controlled the light well.
>>
>>94850709
I mean I like the patterns you have on those previous guys so you can just adapt your new scheme to paint something similar. I'm not sure if you're looking for scheme advice or just general ideas on how to go about painting the vehicles
>>
>>94850877
I'm looking for scheme advice. I don't think painting my vehicles silver like the troops would look good.

I wonder if this is the guy who got sad in the last thread and had his posts deleted for only typing emojis. If it is, considering how obvious your painting is, might want to keep the sperg out to yourself.
>>
>>94850968
He's posting the same shit in 40kg, so I thinks it's a different guy.

did you print these or are they from some old bandai toy?

Oh hey he posted it in the gunpla thread on /toy/ as well, so it's probably a sitewide script.

Any of you guys make marine sauce? You feel like it's worth doing?

>>94851330
i thought you cant make it anymore with modern paints
>>
>>94851330
The color of a wash should be adjusted according to the colors you're trying to shade and the kind of effect you're trying to achieve. One-size-fits-all solutions are inherently inferior.
If you're adamant about using a dip, just buy army painter's cans.

Ty anons.

Gonna try and find my old DLSR camera next weekend and see if I can shoot some better photos than with my phone, that poor focus is bothering me too lol

Ty. The gradients are just multiple thin glazes on lighter yellows. I use Averland Sunset as base, Flash Gitz Yellow as mid tone and Ice Yellow from VMC as the light tone.
>>
Evaluating buying this pigments to make the base for my ork buggy themed on arid badlands desert. I've never used pigments before, are they a meme? Can I archieve the same effect with paints? How would I fix them with no airbrush?
>>
>>94851870
Pigments are pretty cool. You can just fix them with diluted PVA glue, using a dropper. Or you can fix them with a varnish, either by a dropper again or, better yet, varnish in a can.
>>
>>94851870
I would personally not fix them. It really dulls down the effect. If your models are going to see a ton of use you'll just have to choose between reapplying your pigments every few years or fixing them with IPA or a pigment fixer, both can be applied by brush, though not ideal.
>>
>>94851921
>If your models are going to see a ton of use you'll just have to choose between reapplying your pigments every few years

This sounds utterly mental to me

I'm a very "conservative" painter tbf. Black/Grey spray undercoat, solid basecoats, drybrush or edge highlight depending on the texture.

I'm too scared to try all these newfangled airbrushes and contrast paints and all that.
>>
>>94851330
1 part lahmian medium, 1 part AP dark tone, 1 part new seraphim sepia

I got a jar full of it, and use it when mass painting troops. It pulls to the recesses fairly well without a huge tonal shift so I don't feel the need to paint over area to bring color back.
>>
>>94851870
You can use cheap makeup for the same effect

Finally have people to game with. Really helps keep the motivation up to finish.
>>
Finished this fine bloke up, practicing skin is something I usually don't get to do on my minis. Really happy with how that turned out.
>>
>>94852100
I think the OSL on the cloth is a bit too close in tone to the light source but it still looks fine. I like everything else though, especially his hair/beard and the aforemtioned cloth
>>94852118
You have the tones down correctly, could use a little bit of blending to look smoother though
>>94851438
Looks great anon, I'm not particularly sure about the red base rim though

I haven't varnished yet. How do you advise I improve this? Go a little more white on the light source?
>>
>>94852566
>Go a little more white on the light source
Either that or darken down what you have on the cloth. I'm no expert on OSL mind you, but if it was up to me I think I'd darken the cloth. The lamp feels bright enough already to me
