>>96420412I don't get the reference but yeah I can definitely see a monster fucker sbgl warband. They've been definitely heading in that direction.
Bloodbowl 7sI love it. I love it so much.11s is fun but I really like how quick and "condensed" it is. Even if a game is going shit I can quickly get into a new scrum
>>96420636why are they black. Looks great either way.
>>96420650based on warcraft draenor orcs, specifically the Bleeding Hallow Clan
>>96420412>mosscairnBit of a jump from the more generic warcry though, I guess that may be the point?
>>96420785If that's the new season of Warcry this year it'll be around October for spooky factor.
>>96420636Are the files handy anywhere for the crowd/pitch?
If I got a heretek and I confer blaze to a grenade launcher, if I fire a smoke round it's basically white phosphorus, right? I'm guessing it's also just the initial hit that has the chance to cause blaze and walking in and out of the smoke would not cause blaze check to proc?
>>96421501Both the crowd and the pitch are Kraken Studios. they got their own site and a mmfI really like them
Staring at 42 ruffians, maybe starting Sharkey's Rogues was a mistake.Or maybe I need to stop being a little bitch.
>>96421505Smoke weapon does not cause hit therefore blaze is completely useless on it.
Which edition of MESBG is the most fun to play? I own the 2018 version, but I haven't touched it in quite a long time, preferring instead to play War of the Ring. However, there are times when I'd like to run something like a skirmish as a prelude to a big battle, and I'm curious how the big 2005 one ring blue book compares to 2018? Does the blue book contain everything you need, just like WOTR, or do you also need to source the faction books? On a related note, how do the supplementary books compare to the ones for the 2018 edition? Better, worse, different?Basically, want to know if it's worth my time ebay hunting for the 2005 version and its supplements, or sticking with 2018 and hunting for its supplements.
Are there any blogs or video channels out there that are still doing Epic 40k battle reports?
Some poxwalkers turned into mutant scum for an outcast gang.

In Necromunda, if your scenario says to randomly select your crew... does this mean your leader may not be chosen? What happens if your leader doesn't come along?
>>96425927You just play without your leader that game.
>>96420636>>96420650Its kinda off yet fitting they are painted in a human skintone
>>96425927What >>96426565 said - if you randomise 6 dudes from a crew of 4 juves, 3 gangers, 2 champions and a leader, it's entirely possible you'll be fielding 2 gangers and 4 juves.>>96424848>>96424893Those look sick - good job, anon.
>>96420636Why does the one player have a transsexual aura?
>>96429312We are both ugly obese "incel" men...wait that doesnt really rule out troons does it?
>>96429929Lol
>>96429929I'm talking about the one with the troon flag marker stuck around it's base.
>>96423144Kinda want to do 2018 lists with the newest profiles. I hated special strikes and felt that way too many characters had F6.
>>96431777oh I just did cyan and magenta because I needed something flashy and they are cyberpunk colours
>>96433855Well he's certainly radiating a particular vibe =p
Is Norse a decent beginner team?
>>96434666Everyone has the most important skill in the game, players are cheap enough where if they die you don't really need to care.I'd say so
Im trying to get my 8 year old nephew into games. I think blood bowl would be cool but I worry about his attention span and complicated rules. Should I get the newest blood bowl starter from a few years back, an old version of the game like the OG or kerrunch instead?
>>96435273Just play blitzbowl man. It's bloodbowl with objective for scoring like Warhammer Underworld, players died very fast but you get to bring them back so even if someone played poorly they wouldn't feel completely curbstormped.
>>96423800doubtful. Epic 40k was the least popular edition of Epic by a large margin. and it died before the internet really supported video anything.
Played my first game of MESBG today. It was very fun to see Shagrat kill Gorbag, though I'm sure I got almost all the rules of the game wrong
If I want to pick up underworlds for the first time as a new player (to play casually with friends), is Harrowdeep an okay place to start? Is Emberguard better as a new player? My understanding is that older warbands are somewhat compatible with newer sets and GW releases some (?) updated cards for the older warbands. I was thinking of getting both to have the 4 teams if compatible. Nothing is very clear as much as I search, but this was kind of helpful https://spentglory.com/2023/06/21/can-i-use-this-old-warband-a-beginners-guide-to-the-shadespire-season/
>>96429929lmao
>>96437535New edition is not compatible with old edition, including card and board, warbands use universal cards, they still had their gimmicks and 3 abilities to uses. usually 1/game. Not all old warband will get this however, warbands that didn't get rule in new edition will use the generic rule that is pretty boring.>Harrowdeep Probably the worst expansion of all time, and GW had reprint those Stormcast on so many set (including the upcoming 4 packs one) you could probably find them for cheap on Ebay or B&N.For starting Embergard is good, if you want more warbands get one of the 4-pack from the link, or buy split individual warband for cheaper, or wait for the upcoming new 4-pack. You also want to buy, or print more decks. There're also a new expansion coming but it's only come with 2 decks, Embergard has 4.>https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/eueoinsr/saturday-pre-orders-chaos-above-underworlds-below/
>>96435313Is Blitz Bowl fun for adults too? I want to get my friends into minis/tabletop
>>96439470Fun is subjective, it's a smaller and faster game with no campaign and management like regular BB, so it can be more newbie friendly (but some people considered the management is the fun part of the game, hence why fun is subjective). Blitz Bowl ultimate second edition is what you should be looking for, it's also come with additionals team cards for 23 teams that sold separately. The team you get from the box is only half of a normal Blood Bowl team so you won't be playing a Blood Bowl game with it.Cards and Rules are available online so if you don't want to get the Blitz Bowl box, so you can print it, get a team or Blood Bowl starter box (from GW or 3rd party) and play the different "-bowl" game that spawn from it ( Blood Bowl, 7, Dungeon Bowl, Blitz Bowl,.... )
>>96439470>is it funYes, especially for beginners, especially if you add beer.
>>96439470My girlfriend would never try bloodbowl but blitzbowl seems like a good gateway drug
Working on an artscale rhino for necromunda with detailed interior that actually holds ten 25mm based miniatures.Roughly 150% the size of a GW kit.
Is there a new bloodbowl season coming soon? I want to get a starter set but I feel like the new season is around the corner
Anybody know where I can get the Soul Forge Studio Battlefleet Gothic STLs? They seem to have removed all of them for purchase. It would be a true shame if they became lost media.

>>96446506>>96446533Holy fuck this looks way cooler than the current starter set. Thank God I bought blitz last week instead
>>96446533>>96446506I need to know if the rumor about Underworld Denizens being squatted is true or not... I'm literally in the middle of working on them.
>>96446590Why would they do that? They still sell a kit for them.
Are we seeing a golden era of GW's specialist games?
>>96446683No nigga, they raise the price next month.
>>96446533More untested fanfiction bullshit.LRB6 or go fuck yourself.
>>96446506> If a Grail Knight is knocked down, roll a dice and on a '6' they remain standingI hate it
>>96446778Just reverse foul apperance. But more of a gotcha.
>>96446786Less of a gotcha, you don't even lose anything extra for it succeeding, while FA can kill your blitz movement if it goes off.
>>96446778Its foul appearance
>>96446778Then don't buy into it, just stick with what you already have.
>>96446683No.The golden age was the previous edition of MESBG which was the best game GW has ever produced by a landslide. It got absolutely gutted by the new edition.Lets hope BB doesnt get killed in a similar way.
>>96447076>Lets hope BB doesnt get killed in a similar way. This happened already, 5 years ago.Keep up.
>>96447076the best edition of a GW game is always the one that's two or three versions older than the current one.GW must release a couple shittier versions of MESBG as soon as possible to retroactively improve the current one. Or start releasing all new editions in 1995-2001 with a time machine.
>>96446683The specialist games golden era was 2019
>>96446778It's awful isn't it? At this point I'm almost convinced JTY has never actually played Blood Bowl, that it was all just some shared hullucination. My only hope is that the community team are being functional illiterates as usual and that's not entirely how it works. Like, it only works against a Defender Stumbles or something. Which, in fact, leads to a much better way of doing this skill: A skill that's basically Dodge but without the reroll, just the defensive modifier to being blocked. How much better would you feel if that was how that skill worked? We'll have to see just how much of this is actually a 2020 1.5 edition or not. GW lied through their teeth and tried to fucking butcher Horus Heresy a couple of months ago, so god help us if this is more of the same.As it stands I fully expect the formatting of the rulebook to be the same padded out incomprehensibly bad made with chatGPT layout of that game. The only things I'm at least positive about is the removal of Wildly Innaccurate and that the Easy Pickup skill has enough caveats to feel like a reasonble addition.
>>96446964Yeah but you can reroll foul appearances
>>96447314>>96446778>t. faithlets
>>96446655No clue. I just read it here and it has me scared. Hopefully it was just some salty guy wishlisting.
>>96446506Nice, this new box looks dope. Hopefully the local GW will start a new season for the fall and I can break out my dark elf team again.
>>96446506Normally I'd be hopping up and down over this news but for some reason, I feel pic related.I'm sure it'l be great but after playing thousands of games, played almost all the teams over a 12 year span, would take a lot for me to return. That said I have been enjoying TOW except the cost
>>96448000> Dark ElvesJust don't go rushing out to grab 4 blitzers
>>96448042Elaborate?
>>96446965Foul Appearance doesn't prevent turnovers or keep tackle zones where there should not be any. This is way more impactful but being a 6+ also makes it a total crapshoot. It's just a 1 in 6 chance to completely fuck up a play. There's no thought or plan here, it's just going to randomly ruin your day for no reason. Also, why the fuck is standing upright so central to a Grail Knights identity that they needed to invent a whole skill for them?>>96447487One day you will play a GW game long enough to realise that they get worse over time and change is not always good.
>>96448075Nta but i dunno, OG Luthor von Drakenborg was broken as fuck. >blodge>str5>ag4
>>96448063They've specifically said that they are rejigging old teams. There is a very real chance that this includes tying the Blood Bowl teambuilding rules to what GW are going to sell you.In this case it means that it is completely in-character for GW to reduce DE Blitzers to 0-2 because that's what comes in the box.
>>96446506Were these added in later? Is that why the girls are sharing the same bodies as everyone else?Surprised none of the players are painted black, it's very uninclusive of GW. But I sure am glad they've gotten rid of the sexism in Bretonnia, perhaps one day they can get rid of the classism too and everyone can be a knight. Why I should stop complaining about them not being inclusive enough, look at the art work of the peasant girl, she looks so much like a boy that even transgenders can feel included. When do Amazons get male players?Anyway this is a middle ground between adding female players and having no female players - as an owner of an imperial nob team I didn't have much joy painting the incredibly small frames of the girls that I felt obliged to paint because others would judge me as sexist for not using them.
>>96448235I think its great. Buff Chaos Women for me, and i can break female players legs with a smile
Secure the ball details, confirmation that player activation ends, so you can keep the carrier safe after the fact instead of having to form a cage prior.
>>96448395I love how your phrasing implies that you will be switching to these rules. You haven't seen the rules, you haven't played the game, you haven't even seen a demo game between other people playing it.But you're already committed to it.
>>96448439My phrasing implies nothing except that I will at the very least be doing everything in your second sentence, you fucking schizo.
>bretonnian trophy has a little frog and snail on itheh
>>96448235just use a man-at-arm head and problem is fixed
>>96448523I assume there are a limited number of heads, i.e. as many as there are models, like in all GW kits, anon, so you'd need to buy multiple sets to be shop legal, and then also hope your friends aren't spastics who care that your fictional team doesn't include the women.
>>96423144>>96432441I really don't like the new army lists, but I've considered playing with new rules, new profiles, and old army lists. Or even free form army lists at this point, since I'm not playing at any club but with my friends and family. Great pics, anon.MESBG related, any good Sauron proxies that don't necessarily have the look of the movie? I've posted this in /awg/, but might as well try to ask here. I love the concept art of the movie, but don't really like the design of the ragged cape and so many spikes on Sauron. Looking for something like pic related.
>>96448594Do you even play Blood Bowl? The reason BB models often share the same body is because many teams are just the same sprue twice, and you attach a different head to the same body to make a different player>like in all GW kitsTell that to Kill Team players and their piles of unused heads>also hope your friends aren't spastics who care that your fictional team doesn't include the women. Why are you people so obsessed with this completely fictional scenario?
>>96448594>so you'd need to buy multiple sets to be shop legalor just get a man-at-arm head on ebay from the old world kit
>>96448594What the absolute fuck are you on about? If you need extra heads you could just blue stuff them. Or print. And like another anon said, BB boxes typically have plenty of extras. Also in a fantasy world where the entire kit was just monopose models, fucking nobody would care if you'd replace the heads. Could have headless models and nobody would care. They're your toys, do whatever you want, retard.
These guys aesthetic are similar to the new Necromunda Cawdor, and this one can also be used as a pit fighter.
>>96448235I'm not sure the middle one is a female head. But as other anons point out, you can justgo to a bits site and buy some non-female heads if you're that bothered by it.

>>96448763Every autumn I get the urge to buy and paint NH yet I never doWill this year be the year? Probably not!
>>96448235You need medication
>>96446590No the pitch size did not change so those rumors are full of shit. Plus they said high elves will still have rules day one
>>96448763Yes.I have the 2020 kit + several third parties. The female characters in the imperial team do not share bodies.>fictionalDo you have friends?Have you been outside in the past 15 years? You do know that people are a spectrum of judgemental pricks who lean heavily on "inclusivity" to tell you what you should be doing with your own models and are emboldened by GW's political shift, right?Or are you just some freak who sits in his basement and doesn't have to deal with misanthropes?>>96449232All the male heads have chiselled chins or beardsIt's not ambiguous
>>96444262Post this in the wip and 3d printing general I wanna see this real nice anon
>>96448075Foul Appearance can fuck up entire plays as well and it can also mean full on lose the blitz action. You clearly dont play the game as much as youre larping if you cant see that foul appearance is basically the same. If you want further proof out of the several teams I play I play underworld With every player having foul appearance after a few leaguesHypnotic gaze also broken af and will kill the game by your own retarded standards. The main issue you should actually focus on is the newer teams all having some form of gimmick rule thats unique to them whilst the old teams dont.
>>96449436>Do you have friends?Nta, but I do, and they absolutely do not give a fuck what heads I use on my models. Go out and talk to human beings.
>>96449436>You do know that people are a spectrum of judgemental pricks who lean heavily on "inclusivity" to tell you what you should be doing with your own models and are emboldened by GW's political shift, right?Mate you should really get out more. You are coming off as a seething nogames twat with insane fabricated projections.Nobody fucking cares what you do with your toys. Never has, never will.
>>96449483Here >>96448498
>>96449436I use MeshMixer to flatten down boobs and remove obviously female heads from my 10mm Warmaster models because even if nobody else sees them, I don't want to know that my Empire are gender inclusive.

>>96449886I don't know, ask Forest DragonHis Brets are nice but this is honestly very off-putting
>>96449886>>96449937Aaaand I'm out.
>>96449847you could also use any of the other billion options for empire. or just don't print those specific models.I'll never understand the weirdly obsessive veneration for FD over every other sculptor, but especially from anons who don't actually like his sculpts.
>>96446786>>96446786There actually are some niche applications for Sure Footing that Foul Appearance doesn't have.>It works on your own turn if you roll a skull, to prevent the knight from getting knocked down>In this case you could also reroll it, since it is your own turn>It also works on other effects that cause the player to be "knocked down", such as being hit by a bomb or a thrown teammate. (But not Stab, Chainsaw, or Vomit.)
>>96448094Can't wait for them to make it so skaven teams can only have 2 gutter runners and having to have 2 throwers, rendering them completely unplayable. But realistically, they will change it to 0-2 blitzers, then change the box to only have a single blitzer, ensuring you need to buy two boxes to field a team.
I really hope the grail knight ability is a unique trait and not a skill anyone can getOtherwise I am sure this new edition won't be a game ruiner. The expanded pitch theory wasn't proven correct right?
>>96450768The article explicitly stated the pitch will not change. They basically called out that leak specifically to assure everyone it wasn't happening.
where WHERE can I play Blood Bowl IRL? (in the U.S.)
>>9645100699% of American bb players live in Florida
>>96451006Do you live in the greater Cleveland area?
>>96451543More like the greater Detroit area
>new bb edition >want to avoid the sweats and cursed L terrain in 40k>spearhead and KT are my speed and don’t require me to lug a whole army on a 100 minute train ride + walking in summer humidity or snow>black orcs and gnomes are cool>new teams are not bad eitherIs this my excuse to start playing bb? Did they announce any dates or expected rules drops yet? I’ve not had a chance to do the research Is there a goblin team or just snotlings and orcs with goblin teammates?
>>96452065No announcements on dates yet but IIRC BB2020 had a late summer announcement as well and dropped mid-late November, so that's what I'm expecting. There is a proper goblin team, which just has goblins, two trolls, and a various assortment of goblins wielding illegal weapons like bombs and chainsaws. Beware, though, this game does not strive to have all teams balanced, many are deliberately weak to serve as handicap/challenge teams for better coaches, and goblins are one of them. A new player is likely to have a hard time playing them.A more forgiving team that heavily features goblins is Underworld, which is goblins + skaven.

>>96453291As few as possible but I had an idea:>Lame and Gay clause: If a player stalls they must roll a d6 at the end of the turn. On a 5+ a fan has tossed a rock at them, roll an injury on the player holding the ball. Every consecutive turn of stalling at +1 to the rollDo we have a release date?
>>96453325Kinda like it but make it a 6+Stalling is valid but man it sucks after like 3 turns
>>96453291Hopefully not much, the game plays well. The major stinker is Wildly Inaccurate which is already going.Introduction of skill tiers, where the SPP cost of a skill varies with how good it isSwoop reverted to the 2016 version
>>96452083Thanks for that.I noticed the only goblin team on the GW site has not chainsaws or trolls. I’m guessing you can run them as is or add in the trolls and chainsaws, right? Kind of like the extra 4 infantry you can take for Veteran guard if you buy another box or proxy or how some factions have “1 box kill teams” in KT. Am I right in assuming this? Are thunder valley green skins and underworld better for learning the actually game? What’s fun in blood bowl? Should I just wait until the changes are revealed in the autumn? Does he tend to drip feed BB like their bigger games or do they give such a low amount of fucks that they throw it all out and say “here, now shut up”
>>96453425>I noticed the only goblin team on the GW site has not chainsaws or trolls. They're resin. There're a bunch of extra to add in the game outside of the box, everything cost money, your bloodbowl money and your real life money, because outside of the footballing, you also had to manage the team. I
>>96453425>>96453482Forgot to mention the troll is Plastic. This Underworld warband had a small troll and some goblin you can convert into the chainsaw looney, and the ball and chain fanatic. You can also find plastic Fanatic in Age of Sigmar, or Zarbag's Gitz.
>>96453425Goblins are probably the single worst team to learn BB. Not only are they famously and deliberately weak, they will also encourage you to play with jack like TTM or secret weapons that are irrelevant to most normal teams.Black Orcs (Thunder Valley) are also very weak but at least they will teach you the fundamentals of gameplay and especially positioning. Underworld are a legitimate team and while they can be fragile, can also win games.
>>96453527>>96453513>>96453482Ah I see. Even the blurb on GW site says goblins suck but somehow haven’t been completely crushed I think I might go with green skins, ogres reikland, or Gnomes purely on aesthetics. I should also mention that I own a resin printer and I will be saving any stl’s I come across. I will see what the new edition brings before committing to anything. Maybe I can get the bretonnian team for cheap from a reseller
>>96453513>>96453482The Storm finger magazine is a good way to get cheap fanatics if you can still find that issue
Anything I should know before getting in Necromunda?
>>96454144Approach it with the right attitude. Necromunda is not the kind of game to optimise because it is easy to break and comes with a social contract that you're going to play for the narrative/spectacle. Take cool guns, don't spam anything too hard, use things that you personally think are cool even if they are sub-optimal .
>>96454144There're a lot of reading, there're also rule error and most of the time : home rule to clear up confusion/dumb rule. There're a lot of cheese and unbalanced stuffs. Designer don't really care about this much, but we all got brains to judge on our own.Playing to win isn't the goal, nor the fun. The fun is the building of your guys, and the friends you made that didn't quit to play Kill team.
>>96454174This.>>96454240And thisA good guide is choose each weapon and skill only once each when building a gang. The game itself is not super complex, but the backend is super crunchy. You can make the game simpler or more complex by choosing more/less weapon traits.Generally just go for fun, think of your gang and what they would do to judge their actions. Last campaign I was jumping all the time as the fluff was formed dancers who loved snowing off. Had a few injured gangers and a champ died but it was worth it.Don't take it too seriously, aim to have fun and you will have a blast. If you aim to always win, you won't have anyone to play with
>>96453325Fuck off. Stalling requires the opponent to make some huge mistakes to allow it. And the game just doesnt work without it. If some idiotic anti-stalling mechanic was in play, the ball carrier would just sit on their half before late in the drive starting to move across. Which is already a often used technique, but your idea would just make it the only strategy. Stalling is a part of the game. Get good and stop allowing the opponent to get in such a position.
>>96453291All I wanted was to get rid of wildly inaccurate and they already confirmed that. Gw selling status markers is a nice plus because I was looking at getting some markers, I'll just wait a bit
>>96453662Orcs are a great team to use for learning the game, they suit the rules well and execute a bash playstyle wellOnce you get a handful of games under your belt and understand the 2-1 grind then you can lean into the stunty teams like ogres, goblins, gnomesThe way the stunty teams interact with the rules and how the game is played is weird. Like they're intentionally bad, but they do funny things usually. Goblins are great but you'd probably like them better played in tournaments, like friendly one day, 3 games, bobs your uncle.
>>96453425>What’s fun in blood bowl? Should I just wait until the changes are revealed in the autumn?I would strongly. STRONGLY advise you wait. We have no idea for sure what they've done this time. 2020 edition was a massive clusterfuck on release. Your team could be gone. It could be dead. It could be completely changed around. Your starting roster options will almost certainly be fucked with in some way.Until someone leaks the new rulebook, we simply don't know for sure if this is REALLY a 3.5 sort of deal, or the kind of apocalyptic enshittening that the Horus Heresy just got.As for getting teams... if GW doesn't do a plastic box option you like. You got to Etsy, spend 35 quid and get a 3d printed one instead. GW cannot copyright "generic fantasy who play american football" because that would involve trying to copyright American Football things which would get them into trouble with a REAL megacorporation with REAL megacorporation lawyers.Even if you do like the plastic box, it's probably cheaper to fill the rest of the team in with 3d prints.
>>96454350NTA but some teams are put in a very bad position defensively from something that's actually unavoidable like having the mandatory 3 man LoS and 1 available blitz target explode immediately leaving them down 4 players. No matter how good a coach you are, that's a situation you couldn't avoid and are hard pressed to play into without it ending up with your opponent being able to comfortably form up deep into your half with 3 turns to score.I'm not advocating for anti-stall game mechanics though.
>>96456716Yeah sure sometimes shit happens and the entire LoS gets knocked out. But in an average match it requires the defending player to make big mistakes for stalling for multiple turns to be feasible. Any sort of anti-stall mechanic would just punish the attacker for playing well, playing correctly.
>>96453291I want stars like Griff et al to be heavily restricted. Fed up seeing people saying they won a team with flings, only to be revealed they use griffs. That's not BB, it's just abusing stars. Doesn't count and its not using the actual team i.e flings>inb4 got beat by griffThe one time i ran into him in a tournament, i killed him and butchered the enemy team.
>>96456308I'm not sure what the point is here. if they don't fuck it up this time they'll just do it later. the only constant with a supported GW game is pointless, untested change. if you're gonna insist on playing in their little walled garden, you just have to learn to live with that.
>>96454144Play for fun, not to win. Don't spam the "best" skills and weapons, mix it up for fun. Home rule whenever youvsnd your lads feel like it. Remember that the game is supposed to be ridiculous.Pic related, my juiced up meatheads, one of whom who has every every genetic defect, are set afire while siphoning bunker fuel from a garbage tank.
>>96423144Big Blue Book (The One Ring rulebook) plus the original sourcebooks and second edition pre-expansions.
>>96456308Take your medicationThe article said in plain English that every team is in the book and high elves are in teams of legend. Cyanide has mentioned that bb3 will be patched with the new rules. Doomposting like everything is fucked and the game is ending is retarded
>>96457002I rather the stars be really good because they're meant to even the playing field in leagues when you're down tv, historically the stars were terrible and you'd get rolled by the higher tv team always, with powerful stars you at least have a chance
Were there rules for Tau and/or Knights in 3rd edition Epic 40k? I can’t find them in the armies book. I know there’s Fanstic magazines for 3rd edition Epic 40k but I got no clue which they’d be in
Im looking to get into BB is it still worth getting the SS box for the minis/ board?
>>96460218Second season probably provide more value than the 3rd season starter if you like the team, because it also have the refs and the star players, while the 3rd season won't, and probably cost the same, since GW just announce a price hike in October.
>>96459827Tau didn't exist yet so unless there's a fan project, no. I don't think knights got ported. they were oop by then. if they did it would have just been the old chicken knights, not the forge world style ones.
>>96460305>TauShame>KnightsBigger shame, I have a “few”
>>96460218If you like the teams yeah, the pitch and dice are still good
>>96460465what's the particular interest in 3rd?2nd and 4th are the editions you're most likely to find players for by a very large margin, and they both have well developed community rulebooks with support for a crazy number of army books.
>>96460906I just received someone’s collection of 40k and it came with 3rd’s rule book, army book, and battle book, and I prefer reading physical books to PDFs like NetEA desu. If 2nd or 4th are THAT much better than I’ll have to reconsider my plans for army comps since I’ve been basing this off of 3rd’s army lists. Here’s a picture of all the space marine stuff I received btw. That’s 3 companies of marines with command and as many rhinos as needed, and 40 terminators with not enough land raiders to carry them
>>96461418>>96460906ALSO there’s no epic players near me, my plan is to just use this massive collection I was given to play with friends who show interest or maybe even random at my LGS that might wanna try, I was given enough that I can do this. No one in my area afaik (south Florida) plays epic. None that I could find anyways
>>96461418>I prefer reading physical books to PDFs like NetEA desu.just print your own. 3rd edition really half baked
>>96461783Might as well, no harm in printing. Fuck it, NetEA it is
>>96423144Honestly the new edition is pretty good, the big soup lists (botfa, pelennor, motw, mordor, grand armor, etc) cover most of what you'd do with old alliance matrix anyways, plus a lot of the new army lists let models and combos be fun where before they were basically unplayablein terms of listbuilding I had more fun brainstorming weird lists in last edition, but in terms of actual games the new one has a lot of improvementsbiggest failure of the new edition is ringwraiths without a doubt, totally murdered an iconic profile for nothing. losing special strikes kinda sucks too, but tbqh sword/axe strikes were lame and bad for the game, if only they kept the ones for staffs/maces/clubs for some models
>>96455654>>96453513>>96453482>>96452083I would get the black orc team but it’s OOS at the only retailer in my country that stocks BB (the rest are the big mainline GW games). I don’t know when it will come back if ever since they lost their exclusivity deal with GW, but as luck would have it somebody posted an imperial nobility team a few days back on our local secondhand forum. It’s about 27-28 USD with shipping. I like the models, the fat dudes, and their uniforms, but will they be skewed or complicated like the goblin team? They’re honestly so cheap I may as well get them. Will I get filtered by the “puff and slash” pants that imperials are famous for? I’m quite fond of their box art scheme as I never paint anything purple. Oh and do need to buy another box to build all the variants or can I just let my opponent now before the game like “this guy is built like Y but he’s X” or is that not a concern at all? And if I need an ogre or star player or w/e I think I can print them or try to find them cheap. I have a few projects in front of them in my hobby queue.
>>96461783Which edition of epic would you recommend, 2nd or 4th?
>>96462286Imperial Noble got their full special players in 1 box (4 bodyguard, 2 thrower, 2 blitzer ) You can mark the base rim with the role name using the transfer sheet in the box to avoid confusion.
>>96461418>>96462837you can generally play with all the same units. and it's not so much "better" as it is the big editions each being total rewrites with different design philosophies. there are players who LOVE 3rd (just not that many of them). they also aren't numbered as editions by GW, that's just how players refer to them. they're really different games.>first editionadeptus titanicus and space marine. mostly about highly detailed titan combat with the ground armies only lightly filled in. the 2018 reboot of AT is a spiritual successor.>second edition / fifth editionSpace Marine & Titan Legions. feels the most like a mainline GW game of the epics with lots of dice and tons of crunchy special rules. the recent Legions Imperialis is a direct copy of the 2nd ed rules core, just with super limited lists and barebones titan rules.>third editionEpic 40,000, aka the one that pissed everyone off. it's a very abstract, elegant ruleset, (especially for GW) and handles very large battles cleaner than any other epic. but the lack of crunch turns people off.>fourth editionEpic Armageddon / NetEA. tries to cut a middle line between abstraction and crunch, and is generally pretty successful. still has very thin titan rules though.NetEA was the one most played since it came out as it was well received and kept alive by a very active community scene. Legions Imperialis release brought a lot of new blood back to 2nd though which used to be on life support.you could do worse than just trying different ones and seeing what you enjoy. all the rules are free online.
>>96463214Thanks for the breakdown anon… I’ll try and go with NetEA. Excited to paint them desu, no clue how I’ll do the Guardsmen but the marines will be Black Templars (decided that AFTER building some librarians)
>>96462867So you're saying I don't need to buy another team box to play or at the least play without being severely hindered? I would just need to get the support pieces like a big guy or star player or fans etc?
>>96463261ok. there's basically 3 places you want to be aware of for army lists:>NetEA approvedis the lists at https://tp.net-armageddon.org/stuff the main rules committee has fully vetted. lists are prettymuch "fixed" after approval, they don't get any more additions or big changes except the occasional balance tweak.>NetEA developmentis all the shit in various stages of testing at https://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/.a good chunk of these are in almost-complete state or just trying to get final approval vote and are as polished as the approved lists. but they're still subject to revision.because stability of existing lists is so protected, when players want new toys it usually means spinning off a new list that features those things. that means epic lists tend to be much more specific about what they represent. instead of playing a "imperial guard" list or a "tau" list, you'll be running a Steel Legion During The 3rd Armageddon War list or a Farsight Expedition list.>EpicUK liststhe UK scene has their own army book at https://epic-uk.co.uk/wp/army-lists/.it's more tightly focused on rebalancing for tournament results, so the lists tend to be a little more restrictive. but the baseline points calcs are all the same at NetEA stuff, and a lot of tournaments freely allow lists from both.
>>96463571Once more, thank you, I really appreciate this. I’m gonna stick with the approved lists for now just in case
>>96463214>>96463571Anon, NTA, but what are some good sources for Epic STLs/minis? I'm particularly interested in Tyranids, Iron Warriors, or Ordo Xenos. Is there a sculptor like Forest Dragon for Warmaster that has a large offering in a similar style like that?
How are the Nu Chorfs? I used to love them, solid line, disposable fouler hobgobs, put every single egg in the Bull Centaur basket. Are the new sorcerer guys good or just worse lineman? I fucking hate the new aesthetic they have though, glad I have a 3d printed old school team
>>96464397Epic is easily found everywhere, even on thingiverse you can find some very good epic minis.
>>96457002This the "simplification" of Star Player access has been the absolute worst idea they had in 2020 edition and it needs to go back to carefully curated lists of who will play for what. So what if that requires a lot of reading, casual players don't fucking use Star Players anyway.Hakflem needs to go back to being Skaven and Underworld only. Cindy Piewhistle needs to be Halfling only. Gnomes should NOT be able to hire Halfling Star players full stop. It needs to be fixing, and the longer it's left like this the harder the job is going to be to do.Like, I would sooner they keep Wildly Innaccurate. Keep the defacto removal of Stat Increases from the game. Keep everyone's Passing stat being 1 less across the board in almost all cases than the previous edition. If they fix any one thing, NOTHING would be better that going back to the properly curated Star Player access lists.
>>96465729The new guys are fairly pointless. It's amazing how dirty they did the Sneaky Stabbas though. Overpriced, with shitty skills, no Dirty Player and no basic access to Sneaky Git. A skill LITERALLY NAMED AFTER THEM.Incredible.But you can still build them the old way, and it'll still work. Sure you lost Tackle on your linedwarfs, but Ironhard skin basically means they're never going to get fouled, are largely immune to chainsaws, don't need to worry about Mighty Blow or some random stadium or weather roll or a wizard with a lightning bolt. It probably won't FEEL like it comes up all that much, but it's probably going to effect the opponents planning more than you'll realise.
>>96462286They're a fine team, the thrower isn't good at throwing (in the current rules) so he's more like a runner. You definitely need an ogre and maybe a halfling if you want to try a thrown halfling one turn touchdown. The imp nobs are like a control team, you want to get guard on your bodyguards and try to shut down your opponent's gameplan. Use blitzers to hit things, fend can be nice at gumming up your opponent's plansThe ogre is huge for giving you a roadblock/pivot points, just don't rely on him because bonehead (while the best negatrait) is still a negatrait and will fuck you
>>96463417you dont need fans for models and you dont really need star players like they may come up in a league because theyre kind of like force multipliers if your team is weaker than your opponents you get to use them for free to even the playing field or if youre going to a tournament you may use a star player on your team to improve their power but not really with nobs
>>96466749You can have all this and more in the LRB6
>>96462286I mean at that price the partial team is actually worth getting if you don't have a 3d printer. But for blood bowl the standard product is a full 16 player team with all positionals covered and every player is uniquely sculpted, GW has the worst offerings on the market for blood bowl miniatures.
>>96468959nobody to play with though
Tips for my first real warband in mordheim? I played a bit as a kid (just moved models around) but my club is reviving a campaign so I decided to join in. I've got models fit for mercenaries and I settled on Marienburgers since I like playing the rich fucks. I know the game is usually all about having a lot of shooty models but I really want to kit my heroes out a bit so I'm tempted to go armor+shields on most of them and heavy armor with a two hander on my captain partially because that's how my models look and partially to run up to all those shooting bands and bonk them on the heads. That plus a few henchmen with a mix of bows and crossbows.
>>96468972>if you don't have` a 3d printerI actually do. And I do print stuff like beasts of nurgle, GUO's, and mini's that aren't game related.I will admit that I prefer building plastic kits over slicing and printing and puttin on the gloves/mask and the processing of the resin prints. I don't buy full price kits anymore, and this kit was so cheap that I'm more so paying for the convenience of not having to go through the entire process. I will definitely print a generic football ogre or special characters if I like the painting and feel like playing the game.and some 3rd part sculpts are just ugly or poorly scanned on top of that.
>>96469138You play with yourself when it comes to PC and penis, you can do it with miniatures. But seriously, you haven't tried.
>>96470609>some 3rd part sculpts are just ugly or poorly scannedWhat kind of argument is this? "some" official sculpts are ugly too, point?I have, for JUST 3d printing, at least a dozen different sets of sculpts for every team plus a number of sculpts for the secret league teams and others like the dugout teams and the simians.this is around 280 some teams of sculpts in total with not one single duplicate sculpt in the bunch.Noone can handwave all of that as being ugly. Oh and of those? 5 are scans (GW), nu-skaven, nu-vamps, classic orks, classic chorfs and classic humans, which is the keyword in your response that tells me you are talking out of your ass because when it comes to 3d printing blood bowl scans almost don't even come into the picture, noone who is informed on the subject would mention scans as a negative point.
>>96460251>>96460692NTA but I'm guessing it's worth waiting for the Third Edition box if I like the teams more? I don't really care at all for the Second Edition teams, though it does have the star players I could use and big guys I might eventually use
>>96472500The chances that you naturally just happened to be wanting a brettonian team and a khemri team together at the same time that GW announced a joint release of them is so vanishingly small as to be negligible. So the reality is you only want one of them at best and any illusion to the contrary is your FOMO deluding you. That being understood, if you really must have one of these GW teams then the best option (since you show a willingness to wait) is to wait for them to be sold individually or for someone to buy the box looking for the other team who then wants to sell off the team you are interested in.
>>96472563I understand your point, but here's how I came to it>Want to get into BB>Hmm Second Edition has everything, but I don't want either team>Also figure new edition and set is coming out sooner rather than later>I'll just play learn if I like the game on BB3, get Blitz Bowl to get friends involved and then buy Norse or regular Orks to play with friends at LGS>Oh shid new edition with two badass looking teams, including Bretts who would be a contender for my starting team based on rule of coolI still think I'm going to get Norse or Orks and see how I like tabletop. Haven't played Blitz Bowl yet with friends (I know it's really not the same game)By the time I figure out if I want to invest and have friends who want to play, the new box should be out and hopefully available I guess my question is about whether there is so much value in Second Edition that it's worth getting it and trying to sell the teams. I think my current course of action is good though
>>96472621I'd advice you to get team from non-GW source. If you want the GW norse or orc get them now, next month they're gonna increase the price, probably 5-10USD.
>>96472621>Second Edition"second season" is the GW branding, this is more like 13th edition? And no, people are only playing 2020 (and will only play 2025) because it's the current gw product, and it will live only so long as that status is maintained.the 6th community edition (Living Rule Book 6) is the latest edition of the game that survived on it's own merit of being a good game that people wanted to play.It is also the last version of the game to be designed with the involvement of the man who invented the game, as well as the last vrsion of the game to be released as a complete game all at once AND is the last version of the game to be playtested with a goal of making th game balanced and fun to play. You say you are getting your friends into the game, so you aren't relying on the existence of an already established group, which means you can buy whatever team miniatures you want and play with whatever rules you want, so the free and complete LRB6 is a valid option here, you can play that and still buy whatever minis GW makes as they come out.
>>96472652That's a good point>>96472669Sorry, I'm talking about the 2020 Second Season Edition box and the 2025 Third Season Edition boxI will most likely mainly play at my LGS. I'm not sure whether or not yet I can get my friends to come along
Anyone have any recent additions to your warcry / mordheim terrain you'd like to share? I have all of the branded Warcry terrain I could care for but I was wondering do you think the Fortified Manor the Empire could be converted into something playable or would I be better off buying some generic scatter terrain like hills and rock formations?
>>96472855>I will most likely mainly play at my LGS.Shouldn't matter if you can get friends in on it then, you'll find interested players.HGell I would take a couple teams and a small pitch to cafes, set up and then just read a book until some random expressed interest in the miniatures, I've got a few people into playing that way.
>>96473152manor was nice sight blocking terrain, and you can have some model garrison on top of the watch tower, but it's kinda small for AoS-scale, it's also completely flat with no detail inside.
>>96454144The community is full of sore loser grogs who don't read the rules. A lot of them will try to cheat you if they aren't winning. Remember, these are the people who are too stupid/incompetent to play comp 40k, which is a low bar.
>>96473533>HGell I would take a couple teams and a small pitch to cafes, set up and then just read a book until some random expressed interest in the miniatures, I've got a few people into playing that way.Zoomers might laugh at you, but this is something from a bygone, pre phone era that I wish more people did
>>96473874I work at an lgs and it's still done this way by Millennials and older.
>>96473152Would work well with some other buildings and bridges for a city fight.
>>96472500Yeah the models look super fun to paint for the third season box, brets and khemri aren't super beginner friendly but the new rules will help(giving a special action to pick up a loose ball on a 2+ is a huge help to playing khemri)
>>96473533>HGell I would take a couple teams and a small pitch to cafes, set up and then just read a book until some random expressed interest in the miniatures, I've got a few people into playing that way.Of all the things which never happened on /tg/ this thing never happened the most of all>>96473909I've run an LGS for decades and it's more likely that two guys will stand beside each other, holding 40k boxes, and one asks you "how do I find people to play with" so you point at the guy beside him and say "talk to this guy, he likes 40k" then after like 5 minutes of them chatting you say "hey you guys should swap numbers and text each other and setup a game"You gotta herd cats man, if you sit there reading a book in an LGS chances are nobody will walk up to you and say anything, they'll figure that you're busy reading
>>96476386People do much weirder things than that.
>>96420387come play in the sump, scummer. it's nice and warm.../d/48OzeB
>>96472669It's hard to say what edition this is because of all the LRB editions as well. Technically, this is the third edition of GW's revamp. But I suspect it's going to just get called 2025 edition, same as most of us called it's predecessor 2020 edition.Ah well... I was really hoping GW had forgotten about this one and another five years the community could have taken it back again and fixed it. I guess we'll have to see how bad it is when it arrives.
>>96478419Post your naf so we can see your LRB6 record
>>96478782Who even registers with the naf?The whole point of community rules is to divorce the game from the control of an organization.
>>96479785The naf was who made the lrb6 which you seem to only jerk off thinking about though, without the naf there is no lrb6 and thus no moron like you who can't say anything other than "old rules better" (without any reasons) and "just play with whoever will play with you its easy to find games"But lets break it the fuck down>who even registers with the naf?A huge portion of blood bowl players, people who want to play events, people who want to play blood bowl. Now you're going to say some retard shit like "tournament tryhard" no you fucking retard, naf lets people do whatever they want with their tournaments. One of the events in england last month everyone was given a free giant to add to their team for the tournament. >The whole point of community rules is to divorce the game from the control of an organizationGo play warhammer armies project or 9e fan rules for whfb oh wait you can't because when a community doesn't have a central controlling organization people like you can't agree on what are the best rules. So everyone just ends up writing and re-writing the rules so there's monthly army book changes and everything falls apart. AND AGAIN, THE NAF MADE THE LRB6. THAT IS THE COMMUNITY WHO MADE THE LRB6 AND THE COMMUNITY WHO KEPT PLAYING BLOODBOWL WHEN YOU COULDN'T BUY MINIS OR STARTER SETS. So now you're so anti-establishment that you're actually saying "community is bad, I hate community."If you're truly so cool and hipster and anarchist go make your own miniature game rules and go play those. Fuck off.Congrats on ragebaiting, you're even dumber than I thought in my wildest dreams. Don't eat too much paste little bro.
>>96420387Does anyone have the Blood Bowl Sevens pdf? Thanks!
>>96485694>The naf was who made the lrb6No, that is jervis and the BBRC, the NAF is a separate body seeking to regulate and standardize tournament play worldwide.
>>96485694>naf lets people do whatever they want with their tournaments.Incorrect, there are numerous occassions where podcasters for blood bowl hosting an event would state that "unfortunately we can't make this even NAF compliant because we want to use secret league teams, or because we want this tournament to be undead theme teams only" etc...
why is GW so hesitant in making a kill team or warcry/underworld warband for actual daemons?you got the tzeentch underworld warband and its one of the best
>>96486581Nurgle has Grandfather's GardenerSlaanesh has Thricefold DiscordKhorne only got the Flesh Hound from Magore Fiend, but they had the most amound of warbands amongs all god : 4.
>>96486251If you google blood bowl rules there's a site which has it all, with love from russia
how afraid should i be of chaos renegades getting squatted in this new edition? they're the only team without an official box at this point
>>96490276Oh man I hope so, GW cutting slann is responsible for a lot of players sticking with LRB6
>>96490276>a chunky hardback rulebook (including rejigged rosters for every team in the game).https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/gikf8db9/blood-bowl-returns-for-a-new-season-of-mayhem/Nope, renegades are in the main book. >>96490676Citations needed, there's a lot more recordings of BB2020 games played than LRB6 games played post 2016.Plus slann have a 2020 roster made by the fans and widely used
>>96490676I've never seen an event pack, NAF-registered or not, that didn't allow Slann as a playable team. The only barrier to using them is that their rules are not in the core book. It has nothing at all to do with the state of BB20.
>>96490756Your aecdote is worth less than my anecdoteAlso your interpretation of GW's statement is flawed>every team in the gameMeans every team that you find in the book, is the whole list of teams that are allowed in the game, you have read this as "every team that exists in the game NOW will be in the coming book, which is incorrect reading.
>>96493183>every team in the gamechances are even this statement is a lie as well, GW will make more gnomeshit to toss in and GW has a history of making false promises in advertising (ie; 8th edition will be the final edition of 40k, going forward there will only be FAQ updates for 8th)
Is Hive Secudus an expansion for Necromunda or is it more of a limited time starter set?
>>96493422It's a starter set, but it's not a limited-time time
>>96493422It's a 2 players standalone game that you can salvage to use in normal munda game, but what you got for a normal is pretty shit.At least the listbuilding cost is the same as normal munda, unlike the "Hive Wars" box which made up an entire new list building for all the gangs just for that box because.....?????
>>96493183NTA but the last statement in the article confirming High Elves will have a Teams of Legend update on launch day is a soft confirmation that they're the only team that would need one, ergo any teams that have currently non-Teams of Legend rules are already in the new core rulebook.
These models annoy me irrationally. Usually i am fine with things just there for looking cools sake but how the fuck would you even put this coat on, why would you put it on then put armor over it, i hate it.
>>96493915>but how the fuck would you even put this coat onPut each of your arms through the intended hole, close the coat in front with whatever buttons/zipper/velcro it has, finally do the belt.>why would you put it on then put armor over itThe armour is too bulky to fit a coat on top of, and keeping the armour visible helps remind the scum that they're ready for a fight. And remeber, (visible) bodyguards aren't just there to brutalize anyone with an attitude problem, they're also a fashion accessory. If that means they have to spend a bit longer suiting up for the job, well, they're working in shifts anyway.

>>96494285Sorry, gonna have to go with the interpretation that doesn't automatically assume GW will just outright delete rosters they've supported with rules for in the past, given previous behavior where they have continued to support those rules even in spite of not offering any model sets for them (aka the last generation of Teams of Legend from when 2020 dropped). GW has yet to "delete" any BB rosters that were present in LRB6, the worst thing they've done was preserve them as they were in the Teams of Legend document and at this point the only one remaining is High Elves, which is why they specifically mention it.
>>96494384>GW will just outright delete rosters they've supported with rules for in the pastPrimaris replaced Space Marines, GW's #1 model line.

>>96420387Excited it isn't dead. A little apprehensive since I just got into it.Ideally I'd love to see each major army/faction get a bespoke warband since there are still a few missing them.
>>96497994Yeah would be awesome. But I do like that you can buy a Spearhead and it gives you a bunch of different Warbands.Personally I love Warcry, our group has actually started building our own "sets" so we don't just have GW sets
>>96498165I'm really excited for more Warcry but I do need more terrain. I got the original and Heart of Ghur starter sets and I need more terrain, I asked earlier about the Manor of the Empire but I feel I would be better suited finding other terrain. Have you guys scratchbuilt anything for your skirmish games before? I know KT can be easier with beercan towers and such but I'm wracking my brain trying to think of what to do - or I might just buy some neat dockyard style dnd terrain to play on for a small city fight that I might be able to spin out for mordheim later.
>>96500023Most DIY terrains (rock, hills, ground, mountains, castle wall, ruins,...) are made from Styrofoam with a hot wire cutter, even GW used it for their diorama. Nowaday there're 3d print, and plasticard.
>>96500220I hate that, I have not allowed owning 3D printers to stop me from traditional hobbying processes where they make sense, like I see people printing whole blood bowl pitches which takes a couple killograms of filament or more at over $100, whereas I do my pitches from foamcore or thin wood panels with glue, sand, etc... for maybe $20 and have a small number of scatter objects that are printed to go on them.
>>96500023>>96500246>thin wood panelsYou mean popsicle sticks right?I forgot about them, you can also build wood structures from those sticks.
>>96500341Yes I totally made a pitch on a popsicle stick. No, I mean wood artist panels.
>>96500341Those look fantastic anon, are they yours? If so, any tips for weathering the wood?
>>96503470not mine, there're lots of tutorial for them out there, but the short is you can torch them, or just do it normally with paint and a wash. AK has a bunch of paint for weathering.

Are there any bespoke Warbands that are particularly beginner friendly or that should be avoided if I'm teaching someone new to skirmish games to play Warcry?
>>96505125Just use any warbands you can get your hands on, except Wildercorp and Hunter of Huanchi, because they don't play like a traditional slap fight and it get messy. Also avoid Knife of the Crone and Grandfather's Gardener if you're teaching newbie, because holy shit ability activation just to activate another ability later.

Where the various units have bespoke behavior and their own actions and reactions. It's fine if the game doesn't have that, I can homebrew it if that's the case, but there's no point in saying that the resource provided offers enemy AI when it caters to just a rogue ambot.
>>965037794" x 7" actually.
Man I wish Kill Team was not such a shitty game locked behind semi-preconstructed DLC teams. 40k is in dire need of a Mordheim- or even Warcry-like game. Less crunch and sweat, more listbuilding freedom and modelling opportunities. Shadow War Armageddon, for as fun as it was, suffers from the lack of available options but that's not wonder considering it was simply an early-alpha test for NuCromunda.
>>96510063>more listbuilding freedom and modelling opportunitiesForget about it. I'm amazed nu-GW keeps the trading post around in munda

>>96508120>How is it? Is it the Van Saar vs the GS? Can you use other factions? It's Orrus Spyrer vs Genestealer, Van saar is the lackeys that follow the Spyrers. You can use other faction to substitute for the lackey. This is called "Secundan Incursion Gang">Is it a good way to start into Necromunda?Did you not read the whole sentence before replying? it's not a good start to play a normal game. Spyrer didn't have leader for a Spyrer gang, Van Saar Tek Hunter can make a gang but they have terrible guns. Malstrain Genestealer you can make a full gang, but they're don't have any customization and was lazimy designed to be the NPC gang it's not a good recommendation for new player. The "Secundan Incursion gang" can also be used in the Underhell campaign, a campaign similar to the box but the Genestealer is a NPC faction. And yes, it's still not a great start because the van saar have shitty guns.
>>96510673So far it looks a bit gamey becase it matters if a base is in contact of other bases. But I like the unprecise control and the push your luck factor.

>>96510063Someone made a fan-version of KT that more or less takes the core rules of current KT and implements a very freeform teambuilder system where there's points for everything down to stat adjustments to your guys to configure them exactly how you want, so you can pretty much make any kind of team you wish. I haven't had a chance to playtest it yet because I'm traveling but it seems pretty decent to me. It didn't get a lot of community traction though because discord troons and plebbitors wouldn't stop screeching about the AI art long enough to actually read the ruleset.>https://encounter28.blogspot.com/
>>96515887>[insert name here] 28Uh oh
>>96515887A valiant effort, but it's not really an improvement over the current kill team. I think many would prefer choices but unique to each team, rather than a pick anything buffet. And there're no "gimmicks" for each team like the current Kill team, which added a lot of "soul" into each team, actually it's even better than Shadow War, which has some of the greatest list building rule from GW, but the gimmick are simple, many of them are pretty lame.
>>96515887>28
>>96515887Pure autism, current kill team is great because it doesn't has list building, if you want list building you have all the other editions of kill team.

>>96510063>>96516429>other editions of kill teamhad a fun thousand point game of 7th 40k the other day, and was wondering about older versions of Kill Team. When we had more 40k players than tables at my old LGS we would do ad hoc multiplayer games of old kill team, but I can’t remember the rules all that wellI bounced off modern Kill Team because of the bespoke teams (I like to list build), which older edition of KT should I start badgering people to play?
>>96524924Play Necromunda if you like to list builder.
>>96524924>older versions of Kill Team>7thIt's 7th edition but models moved independently like characters, you can certainly find some fun in it, once you figure out all the cheese and ban them. Because that's what the actual game is really about : finding cheese. Cheese like : manta/chimera spam, how do Pink Horror split?, "I'm sure there's a broken psychic power somewhere".Points economy is also not great, since you're forced to take the whole squad, and many unit can eat up your entire budget when you really just want 1 or 2 of them in your team, instead of the whole squad. Kill team in 8th edition fixed this problem.>8th8th edition but model moved independently , unlike 7th, they made a separated list for all faction with individual points for each model. You can level up your specialist and commander but the level up system is completely worthless because it jacked up your unit cost, and game had a total cap on unit cost total. Most commander cost too much it's not worth getting one unless the format forced you to. Some unit cost too low and vice versa. There're a limit on special weapon unit, but then there're also multiple version of the same unit with different name, creating the infamous "guardsmen plasma spam" meme.>Shadow War ArmageddonThe game, the myth, the legend. The game that created the Kill team in 8th, 9th and current edition as well as Warcry. It's Necromunda using 40k factions. There're wargear restriction but it's not as strict, allowing you to build weird combination like 2 pistols or 2 CC weapon. It's a very wild, brutal and unbalanced game. Most people will hate this game, because you either lose from a bad roll, or you just get a complete 0-10 stomped by a top tier kill team, or maybe you're the top tier and some dinky Genestealer cultist beat your ass because your important dude got kidnapped before the fight even started, too bad.
Elf I restored for somebody else, it's going to be a hired sword for Mordheim
>>96524924KT 2018 was amazing. LARPers will respond to this post with the copy-paster memes like "b-but muh plasma spam" totally ignoring that the last two edition of Kill Team turned into real best-option-spam but with no real listbuilding on top of that. KT18 was much slower but had granularity, myriad listbuilding options and almost no exclusive DLC teams - 99% of teams were simply using 40k minis.
>>96525449The "7th" rules can be applied to any edition and you can work out points to split units into individual models.
>>96528252Can't just split because leader have vastly superior statline compare to normal, and an anti leader spam rule also need to be in place.
>>96528279That's not a huge barrier, for instance grey hunters for space wolves have their wolf guard pack leader, so you go split up a wolf guard unit to figure out his value, then subtract that from the grey hunter squad and divide the remaining points between the grey hunters, now you have your leaders cost that is higher than your units. If you do this for enough units you should be able to deduce an average ratio of point value that you can apply to any unit.I don't imagine it would work out perfectly, GW decides values arbitrarily not formulaically, but perfect balance is for competitive not fun.
>>96528346What i meant is that it's not just a simple split it up math "do it yourself", someone has to write a list for the whole group. Not every unit has a separated entry for leader.Of course there're the lazy solution of using 8th points and old ed rule. But 8th also removed a lot of the option and special wargears.
>>96524924KT18 was great, had enough granularity to be able to make the kinda team you wanted to play, even if it was silly. Its a pretty simple game besides that, and I had a blast with it. Most of the problems people had with it were due to comp people ruining it by exploiting things, but as long as you play with some degree of morals, the game goes great.
>>96432441>>96448636Have the army lists changed that much? I know at launch is was mostly themed shit, but with the latest book isn't it basically as open as it used to be? Or did some lists get chopped to bits?>>96470184Armor is basically a waste of gold. It's expensive *and* shitty. A guy with S4 and an ax will basically negate your armor with no issues. Shields are usually worth taking, as are helmets if you've got some spare dosh laying around. It's worth having at least one or two models with a ranged weapon to cover all your bases, but the meat of the game is melee (at least in my experience).I find two handed weapons, while cool, a risky proposal. Since they have Always Strikes Last you run a real risk of your dude getting ganked before you even get a chance to swing.

>>96528279>>96528346>>96528430Usually each unit is costed at the stated cost per additional model + the cost of the leader's statline. >>96453017anons finally met up IRL, after rescheduling a couple times. I still ended up a little late, so we got to play a full half in a couple hours before getting booted from our table for Star Wars: Shatterpoint...Bashy team bashed from the get-go, getting 2 casualties by the end of turn 2, then we realized they'd been using orky taktiks and had fielded 13 players (it was our first time playing tabletop in quite some time). They still got 2 more casualties before the half ended. Shortly after we took the 2 extra players off, the Orkland Raiders were able to walk the ball into the endzone anyways.(1/2)
>>96531148(Sorry, 3* more casualties before the half ended.)Neferata's Z Team, however, came up with the rolls when they were forced to play desperate (both down on players and short on time). A full-length pass was perfectly accurate on a natural 6, whence it was then scooped up by the other Thrower, after which there were a few short turns back-and-forth as players fumbled, until right before halftime the Thrower was able to rush it in.1-1 draw(2/2)

Is there a solo community at all for Necromunda? I've been tempted by the game repeatedly for many years, but the only people I play with have an ingrained tournie mindset and it just wouldn't result in any of us having fun. But every time I see a Necromunda release it gets my imagination going and I think about picking up the core book and a kit or two, plus working on some dense terrain to fill a small kitchen table...
>>96533206You can house rule it.E.g. can't choose the same skill more than once (rolling randomly is fine) no more than 2 of any weapon etc
Enforcers has been buffed into normal 3+ combat stat just like everybody else. and a discount on recruitment cost. Hopefully this didn't turn "gang wars" into "police civil war" with 2+ enforcers fighting eachother.Badzone Enforcer still stuck with the crappy stat, so they're for pure narrative rp now, instead of them being used for advantage and appear everywhere instead of just the badzone outside of the hives.
>>96530740You build your elite team out of your codex. The enemy picks a Big Boss that can bling and generic grunt patrols (ork boyz, guards...). Depending on how many 'team building rules' you break (taking all minis from the same unit profile, not using more weapons that allowed per squad, not picking minis with more than X wounds) the bad guys can take more or less patrols.Gameplay starts with stealth. Both players get to choose which patrols to move depending on the quality of them, the noise the infiltrator does, the mission rules, etc. At some point the enemy gets to control all his patrols. Missions are: Kill the Big Boss, sabotage X point, exfiltrate the map, etc.
Zikkit's Tunnelpack is complete. That's the first of the Embergard stuff done. Just six more warbands to do before Spitewood. I want to have all the current, new Embergard warbands collected at some point. These were the first Skaven I've ever painted and were actually super fun to do!
>>96533206 Ive solo played Necromunda before, back when I was trying to get the rules down. As long as you aren't invested in either gang winning, just take every turn as "what action would make sense for this specific dude in this specific moment" and play it out.
