>>96469445>Word Bearer EditionI WILL BEAR THE WORD
>TQIt will never be kino until it gets multiple quality eroges.
Why hasn't GW released Genestealer Marines, not that I want them to do this, but it seems like money for them.
>>96469456>hello can someone give me a qrd of the new squats codex?GW got rid of judgement tokens and gave them yield points they gain for taking and holding objectives that they can spend on various buffs and abilities. They start the game with +1 to hit on enemies who are standing on an objective (and re-roll charges) and then once they go over 7 yield points they switch to +1 to hit if you're standing on an objective (and the whole "-1 to wound if STR > toughness" thing)>did they get any new vehicles that don't look like lego shit? They got one new dual-kit vehicle. It looks like a sagitaur with hover pads and a gun on top - if that's lego shit to you then it is what it is.>are their railguns still 18" range? The handheld rail rifles are still 18" range but vehicle mounted ones are 24-36" depending on the platform.
>>96469445>Word Bearer EditionAppreciate it anon.Disregard secondaries, post models.
>>96469445>What is the most uncomfortable truth relating to 40k and the hobby you can bear to tell us?Most people don't have fun painting minis. I wish it wasn't true, and I wish there was some way to intro new people to all the info and techniques in a way that cultivates joy and minimizes fear/apprehension/and feelings of inferiority.
>>96469507damn I looked up the new stuff and it all has the obnoxious age of smegmar naming. did they not get the jetpack guys from the kill team as a unit? I sort of like the idea behind the faction and even some of the aesthetic, but everything about their execution seems half baked.
>>96469511Hell yea king, nice models
>>96469511Postan a lad
>>96469536Everything has the obnoxious Sigmar naming conventions now. Just how it goes with GW unfortunately. Personally I love most of the Votann stuff minus the cthonian units not having proper beards, but that was an easy enough fix. That being said they definitely do need more, but then again so do like half the armies in the game. GW went on a massive push these last few years to make a bunch of new armies and then gave them fuck all and told people to wait on a second wave. It's so shitty.
>>96469511My first ever painted model. I know he's painted rather poorly but it gave me much joy to see him in the recent thread collage. Joy and confidence to keep on painting.
>>96469536I wish your post was less obnoxious and less obvious that you were just looking to complain
>>96469511Bruh!
>Necrons are losing their higher thinking and ability to speak and may revert to mere animals following their simulated instincts>But with necrons tier weapons and technology>In the grimdarkness of the far future the Necron is doomed to become metallic undead skeleton echoes of who they were in life, metallic animals kept alive by autonamtic technology and software that they no longer understand and that other people in the galaxy could hope to understand, not alive but they cannot ever truly die kino honestly
>>96469445TQWe are all damned to be branded the worst labels among the 40k fanbase for the crime of being able to say what we please and freely express our opinions.>thread themeHey that’s pretty fitting for the word bearers honestly.Thread themes should be a thing. Also because it is madness I feel the expiration of my own mortality encroaching at 26.
>>96469445The vast majority of the playerbase likes Marines and is happy with how things are. Im simply the minority and I can leave at any time but choose to stay anywayI haven't taken any progress pics recently, so here's some Tyranid tunnel markers I was working on last week.
>>96469556Honestly anon, this is good enough for me to have a hard time believing it was your first model. Everywhere is pretty tidy aside from the bone on his one greaves, but that little detail does look like you'd have to fuss over it
>>96469553maybe I'm just being bitter but it seems to me like the faction is being cockblocked from achieving the obvious identity it should have because they don't want to upstage marinebabies. in fantasy dwarfs are known for having good armor and advanced technology, but votann have worse power armor than marines and their technology doesn't seem any better than primaris shit. I know their original codex was busted and had to be nerfed before it was even released, but now they just feel like a castrated faction trying to find a new niche.>>96469557what crawled up your ass and died?
>>96469575This might be the only example of modeling using those processed cork sheets that I've actually liked.
>>96469578Thanks but yeah this was my first model of my first army. Maybe he doesn't look that bad but he was a mistake after mistake which I desperately tried to fix. I think I screwed up every single color I used on him and had to correct it. The leg does look bad I probably should touch it up. I finished him right before the deadline fot the collage so I missed some things. I had a lot of fun though. Those guys are next and then the Daemon Prince from the Combat Patrol.
>>96469625>he was a mistake after mistakeYeah that's what first models are. But every mistake you made and had to fix is something you're now aware of and can touch on in the future.>The leg does look bad I probably should touch it upI don't think it's bad enough to bother touching up, like it's slightly noticeable in a picture but wouldn't be in person unless I was looking at him from 6 inches away, let alone table top length.>I had a lot of fun thoughMission accomplished>Those guys are next and then the Daemon Prince from the Combat Patrol.Have fun lad, looking forward to seeing more
>buy the datasheet cards for my army because I just wanted the rules in a convenient to carry/use format which is the whole point of datasheet cards and I remember the index card packs being good for exactly this purpose>cards only come with the army rule, not any of the detachments>not a single one>so you technically can't even use the fucking things to play a game anyway>doesn't come with a sleeve to hold the cards either like the index cards did, just a shitty box>but they do come with the combat patrol datasheets for some reasonMy bad GW, I made the mistake of ever buying physical rules from you instead of just pirating them. Thanks for reminding me why - won't happen again.
>>96469660>doesn't come with a sleeve to hold the cards either like the index cards did, just a shitty boxI think I'd rather have the box imo, I hate the sleeves. They get so fucked up over the span of an edition. The other criticisms you raised are totally fair though.
>>96469590I mostly use them for building up volume, but when they work, they work. Sometimes, I feel like I'm spending so much time making the cork not look like cork that I should just use something else.
>>96469445>What is the most uncomfortable truth relating to 40k and the hobby you can bear to tell us?I often feel shame for being an Eldar fan due to the general opinions I see on Eldar, to the point where I'm not even sure if they're right and I'm wrong.
>>96469511Painted a head.
>>96469746>Sometimes, I feel like I'm spending so much time making the cork not look like corkhave you considered cork? you can find the raw stuff at reptile/terrarium supply stores
>>96469556It makes me really happy the collage is motivating people, especially newfrens. Great model anon.
>>96469660>cards only come with the army rule, not any of the detachmentslol, retard. Those cards were released at the start of 10th when nothing had a codex.
>>96469811Not those ones, downie. The ones that release alongside the codex.

>>96469831You don't need to drag your tourist nonsense from one thread to the next, nobody was going to notice if you didn't necropost
what do you bros use for storage? ive got so much hobby related shit, bits and models that i need to come up with a way to store it all properly. im just gonna chuck all my sprues into a big container and when i get time take each bit off individually and put them into compartments but dont know how to store all of these models without damaging them
>>96469842Being retarded is truly bliss
>>96469445How much do you all think I could sell an assembled and primed recast thunderhawk transport for? I was thinking a few hundred, but it's so rare that not even recasters have moulds for it anymore.
>>96469845i did, actually, i'm under contractual obligation for the next five secondsafter that i'm free
I got a monopose tactical squad off ebay and I'm thinking of running them in one of the tiny early plastic rhinos to clown car them out. Should I base it to the dimensions of a regular rhino to be polite or should I not care?
>>96469870Forgot pic. I'm magnetizing the windshield and trying to fix the panes
>>96469877I’ll give you ten bucks
>>96469883Fuck ya mudda
>>96469877>>96469870the old one? idk man thats weird. its so obscure that a recast is probably just as unavailable but obviously not worth "as much".
>WB threadGuess now is the best time to ask: what the hell is up with CSM gameplay-wise right now? I thought they'd still be rocking weird-ass Cypher/Fabulous Bill but now it looks like they've moved to even dumber lists than that with cultist spam even outside of Chaos Cult.
>>96469889tldr? >GW makes legionaries too expensive>people need battleline to do objectives properly>cultists are cheap and sticky objs
>>96469870>but it's so rare that not even recasters have moulds for it anymore.Probably depends on your recaster. Mine (the table) apparently still sells them.
>>96469900>the tableI am aware of that seller. How is the quality?
Hear me out anons, what about xenos worshipping space marines? Half of them fall to chaos so it's not a stretch for a few chapters to fall/ get mindbroken into worshipping some stange and powerful xenos
>>96469900He only has gunships, not the transporter
>>96469852Foam cases if they're fairly round minis like marines, magnet trays for sharp pokey models like deldar. Labeled office printer paper boxes for sprues, organized by army. Labeled ziplocs for loose bits. Stanley flat tool cases with foam glued in for washes/contrasts to hold them secure. Gw hobby cases for paints. Raspberry jam jars for basing grit, freezer ziplocs for cork and cedar bark. Brush wallet for brushes. 3 ring binder for instruction manuals. Duotang layered with baking paper for transfers. And that's about it. I'm thinking of chopping up all my codexes and core books and throwing the rules pages in a binder that I can swap in errata sheets and faqs as well, and then rebinding all the lore pages for each edition into one giant fluff bible
>>96469923I'm a bit surprised that there isn't a chapter that was mentally dominated by a xenos psyker to be its lackies
>>96469900uhhh link PLEASE for the love of all that is holy
>>96469905It really depends on the model from my experience. I bought a bunch of stuff from them recently (2 sagitaurs and a land fort for my Votann and a norn emissary and zoanthropes for my wife's nids) and while the nid stuff came out pristine, the votann vehicles were a little shoddy and needed some cleanup. It looks like there was definitely a mold slip on the vehicles in some spots that didn't exist on the nids at all, and it took a decent amount of scraping away at them to get them back down. The nid stuff on the other hand is basically indistinguishable from the original kits.
>>96469923>>96469939no because the writers are too busy furiously masturbating to chaos to write something like that
>>96469934dont ruin the books, why not just scan the pages, that way you can even manually add erattas.
>>96469889Cheap shit wins games. You still at least have the other mainstays in most lists like Nurgle vehicles, Chosen, bikers, et cetera with other new things like the new Noise Marines and Vashtorr being an easy pick for armies with 6+ vehicles of any sort.
>>96469877That cast looks really really rough. I'd probably give a friend like 100 bucks for it, but I it's so big, and requires so much repair that I don't think I could justify paying more. Also post that BT lev fucker he looks cool
>>96469923You're asking for the old GW level of world building. That was 40 years ago
>>96469941Nice try james. You just dragged Z into the streets in cuffs and are charging him 5 years of his earnings and he's probably going to jail.
>>96469934thats quite a detailed list, thanks anon!
>>96469964I'm a thread regular that just really wants a cheap thunderhawk to cut up and modify...
>>96469941Nta(I'm the thunderhawk transport anon) but I don't think they should. I'm not schizo enough to believe gw lurks here, but I know it could be plausible. However, I know waaaaaaay too many goodie two shoes "errm... you need to play with REAL models" types, and the types who are snitches just for fun.
>>96469949It's not ruining them if I'm happy with it. You could say the same about converting stuff, you could just print a completely new model or scan rather than cut one up. Also it would cost me an arm and a leg to print out all the pages on high gloss when I've got the books already. There's nothing the book does for me together that it also can't do split up, and functionally for me it makes more sense to split them up. Also you didn't read, I can manually add erratas even if I split the books, that's the whole point
For this month's collage I'm thinking of picking up the AoS Sorceror Lord and converting it like picrel, do you reckon it works as a CSM Sorcerer?
>>96469843Not 40K but I reccomend the Prince Roger books. March to the Sea is pretty great. I’m a sucker for David Weber.>>96469511The only WB guy I know has switched to chaos knights lately or I’d find a game pic.
>>96469971I get it. I don't really want to see more of them disappear though and they seem to be cracking down really hard rn. If I found out that I made a post here that got a guy thrown in jail and split up from his family I would be utterly distraught, and could never forgive myself
>>96469978Yeah, looks good to me.
>>96469971I'll sell you mine for $500 cheaper than gw>$400 firm I know what I got
>>96469978cool idea
>>96469964not in jail but I have it on good authority he has to report daily to a political office
>>96469978You should dig through dnd tutorials to find one for spellbooks and have him standing on a big pile of them and them glue an arm reaching out of one and trying to crawl away
>>96469985if there was a safe way to arrange a sale without doxxing myself I'd take that deal 100%. way better than the like $1300 leafbux James is charging here.>>96469982yeah.. just sucks
>>96469982Yeah, fuck gw>if you will not fix your prices and your bait and switch rules tactics to sell more models gw>then I will>and if I can't, let warhammer 40k BURN
>>96469998Realistically not much better being on probation and who knows what being on probation in China actually means in its entirety or what that means for him in the future
>>96470004Little dramatic m8
>>96470003Keep an eye on ebay then. I'll throw it up once I'm done being lazy
>>96470002I like that idea.
>>96470012Just being silly. I was doing the horus speech
>>96469957Oh yeah. The leviathan. The one they made plastic models for. Right before putting them in legends/legacy(can't remember) :') I magnetized the arms and then just quit
>>96469877God, I love heavy lift variants of gunships so much. It just so happens that when the Valkyrie Sky Talon was available, I was either broke or decided I had given up the hobby, and got back in witht he perfect timing of it had just been discontinued and any kits available for sale are NO LOWBALLERS I KNOW WHAT I HAVE.
>>96469843I like classic sci fi:The mote in God's eyeFootfallA fire upon the deepOld man's warRingworldHyperionThe forever war The moon is a harsh mistress
>>96470076Yeah it kinda sucks that we only got a year with him, but he's still a lot of fun to run even as legends you should finish him up.
>>96470121Everything Krieg is gonna be like that
>>96469843If you can find an audio book for neuromancer or dragons egg they're really really good. Also seconding ringworld
>>96470133>tl;dr incomingI had a legit one from FW back when I still had my DG. Sold it all because of covid, the mid 9e rules change, and the "current models" rule. I used it ever since late 7th. I didn't chaosify it, either. I made it look like a DG relic. I focused back on my original BT army once I got on my feet again after lockdowns, but the game changed so much in such a little amount of time. I'm just trying to get rid of all this for an engagement ring, and I hold no love for 40k anymore, and i know if i tell myself to paint them, theyre just going to collect more dust. I might keep my last OG crusader squad and OG grimaldus and box dread and just use them in my nerd display stuff. Had those since the original Armageddon set when I was 7.
>>96469923Chaos wank is in full motion. But the real reason is that space marines have hatred against xenos hard coded in. They were made to kill aliens. Chaos was not part of the plan, basically, so half of space marines got "blindsided" and fell to chaos anyway. Chaos space marines may be traitors, but they still despise aliens as much.
Have you ever made up your own space marine chapter? The idea seems sorta fun but I'm awful at coming up with any sort of crest design.
>>96469900>$269 for a bootlegare you shitting me
>>96470154do you know how expensive the real thing isdo you know how fuckhuge a thunderhawk is
>>96470154They charge it based on its weight iirc
>>96470156I don't know how much gw is ripping people off but I'm pretty sure you can buy a real, flying drone for not much more than that fake one.
>>96470149Well I wish you luck on the engagement lad. Maybe one day you'll join back in the hobby but if not I hope you'll have a couple guys to look back on fondly and remember the parts of the hobby you had fun with
>>96470164the real thing is 1400 dollars270 dollars is barely even recovering the cost of the resin unless they're using REALLY cheap shitty material
>>96470164It weighs like 5 pounds. And is the size of a small toddler
>>96470154Add a decimal place and you're close to what a real one might cost if you can find it. The lowest I've ever seen a legit GW Thunderhawk sell for is $575 and that's because it was the HH version. Not terribly different in terms of model sculpt, but it is noticeable.
>>96470173wouldn't it be cheaper to make it out of polystyrene sheets so it's mostly hollow like how they made star wars ship props?
>>96470154It's always been about 50% of the original since I can remember. That's my 80iq take anyway.>>96470167>hopefully youll have a couple of guys to look back on fondlyThat's the thing, too. My original 40k friend group could never be replaced. The closest was when I got my old fire crew into the hobby, but I saw them fall to CH--consooomerism.. my crew lead had been in it since 2nd, though, so he was ancient compared to me. Unfortunately, my new hobby is bonsai/yamadori. And it works well with my future wife's fish/frog stuff. Shit... I did turn into nurgle. Fuck. Thanks for the well-wishes. Hope things go well for you.
>GW revealed Black Templars as being from the lost II Legion >nobody noticed

>>96470250I like to think that these guys are just nerds that want to do study magic and grow additional limbs but someone keeps bothering them to go fight shit
>>96469889CSM will basically always spam cultists when it's available. Point for point they're just better than legionaries for their intended purpose (sitting on an objective, screening, or blocking bullets for someone more important). Legionaries in my experience do put some work in if you kit them out for melee though, especially in pactbound zealots where you can give them mark of Khorne to really let them swing above their weight class.
>>96470189You can look up the guy that did just that with a tau manta. But the main diffference is that with a resin cast is that once you have the moulds you don't have to worry about much beyond making sure the resin cures properly and the mould dosent slip, compared to a polystyrene creation that would have to take many manhours to make and would probably still costing more than $300 in labour alone.

Polishing home roolz for our HRz Bible, working on Craftworld Eldars rn.- What's special about specific craftwords? Does anyone have some fun rules, be it official or fanmade that adds to player Eldars (even against Eldars)?Currently the way Eldar subfactions work here:Pick a single Craftworld. Your Craftworld allows you access to unique Units/Wargear, and if they have an associated aspect shrine they can take these as troops (We're using the oldschool percentages: 25% min as troops, 50% max as characters, 50% max as support/elite.).Eldar also lose double points for losses: if a model costs 50 pts, it's 100 pts for losses, meaning if both armies get wiped in a 1k game, the eldar player has 1k points, while the opposing player has 2k. I think people can guess why we made that rule a thing. It works good here because we're in a friendly, easy quick-fix setting, but what do you think anons?
>>96469445>>Thread Question:>What is the most uncomfortable truth relating to 40k and the hobby you can bear to tell us?An incredible amount of people are going to think you're super fucking weird and that it's not a real hobby. We're engaging in really fun escapism that others will see as childish unfortunately. Most ITT have thousands of hours painting alone listening to lore or music. You're rolling dice and playing army men with your painted toys. Wait - get this: My Aunt thinks I'm weird because I have a few IKEA cases of minis. She has snow babies in china cabinets in comparison. People have a hard time "Seeing" the hobby correctly or understanding that I like to imagine and escape into the hobby. I've been going through Ian Arbitor's stuff on youtube while painting a new army and this is all I want to do for the next few months. It's a lot of solo enjoyment but I can't find anything like it in another hobby or video game. It's what does it for me - but a stack of people seem to think it's weird I spend my weekends at the shop.
>>96469528I enjoy terrain. It's relaxing and low stress. You can mess up and still save the piece. Minipainting is a grind since I'm on 3000+ minis at this point
>>96471348They just look like that sometimes. I dunno why.
>>96471277Nta but a few threads ago I asked jokingly about why there was so many videos about speed painting, like finishing armies in a day or a mini in one hour. "What, are there people who like assembling and playing but not painting?"I got like 5 replies saying Yes. Nobody said No.There are a lot of people, even here, who like 40k, except painting. It is what it is man.
>got past assembly, gap filling, sanding, cleaning, priming, and all the way to halfway through basecoating step without noticing part of the model still had a bit of sprue nub I hadn't cut off
>>96471348They're offset when it's double sickle mags, unless we're talking really oldhammer, then it's on on the top upside down and one horizontal on the side.Me I like the offset mags, I like to imagine the gun has delayed firing, the first barrel fires then the second, double tap. In full auto you'd get 1 first shot then the second would be in sync with the third, etc.
>>96471431I feel like the paradox here is that people that actually like painting and take it to a higher level usually don't much care about the game. There's an anon in /wip/ that paints the best black templars you've ever seen and I remember him saying he has 0 interest in ever playing tabletop.
>>96470951They're a GW IP, they'll come back at some point, especially since they had a mini. Looking at the BSF Zoat rn.
>>96471436just in time
>>96471462It does make sense, there's gotta be more people who like one specific aspect compared to people who like all parts. You might like cooking, someone might like eating, but there's less people that like doing both, especially when one takes more effort. And 40k isn't 2 sides. So it's an even smaller portion of people who like all of these at once.

>>96471563It's pretty hard, that's why I do have a pile of shame.I always saw 40k as a hobby, I was fascinated by my late grandfather's electric train set-up and the things I'd see in White Dwarf magazines.Painting and hobbying as a whole is scary and difficult, but I don't see that mountain and pest at it or try to find shortcuts. That's also why I think consumers and bootlickers are very sad people, rather than try and grow up and make things better for everyone, they want the easy way out yet nobody can remind them that they are taking it.I think it's pretty telling that most trolling here is done by that kind of people or with those kinds of opinions, merely pretending or not.Thank you for reading my ted talk/blog

>>96472430There's a much higher level of detail present on the in-game model.

I can't tell you how much joy I get seeing the box slowly filling up with painted models. It's euphoric

>>96472490The dark blue base was an excellent choice
>>96472468>The campaign forces you to play multiplayer>even if you don't customize others will>they game actively shills DARK ANGELS RECTUMGUARD and etc packs at you???I don't think you've actually played SM2, let alone talked to anyone who has
>>96472490>votransGender euphoric, no doubt!Jk jk, I'm loving the models. I've been considering doing a blue desert base for my own army, still need to make up my mind how I wanna base em all.
>>96472535NTA I beat the campaign and never touched it again I had a vague idea there was some multiplayer and customisation but never looked into it

>>96472653There are no Eldar Marines that get five codeices, while the Eldar only exists as scatterred units in their army.Xenos players complaining about Space Marines don't know what suffering is.
>>96472048Dark Eldar are hardly just elves unless you consider Vampire Pirate Science War Crimes Slaver Carthaginians are just Elves
So the Kromlech bikes I had since about 2018 were part of this decision. I got 120 mk2 marines from ebay for 300+tax(+6 command sprues). Got me a 3set of special weapons, including the rotary guns for chaincannons. My old repurposed berzerkers/old termies into possessed using skulls I got off a friend were an old project. Tentacle technovirus inspired. Will have to buy a few more kromlech bikes because a few dudes are apothecary/techmarine based. Which I'll repurpose those backpacks into warpsmith/other dudes later. This should be a fun final project. After the Spider army. After the Terminator army. After the Tyranid army. After the flame blood angel army(new).Terminator army might get sold. Really not feeling a terminator army, so I might zenithal coat them and sell them. For about... The entire cost of all the stuff I got for cheap. (2000 bucks)Shit feels complete for the most part. Just casually grinding out the minis when I get time and steam, powering out the spider army showed me I need to slow down a fair bit.

>>96473195i weep when i look back at the guys i started with in the era before youtube
I don't thin my paints
>>96473381I must've watched like 50 different tutorials before I started painting my first mini after a ~10 year break
>>96472693So because of the topography, I have to hand prime the models. The legs wont let me spray even coats, and the black I sprayed on was chipping off by just airflow. So I had to keep models for 48 hours in a soap bath. I just dried off the first batch after a good rinse. The gray primer is mixed with leveling medium, and water and splotched on with the pooling taken out and then let to dry. Gray primer is easier for me because its not so shiny when I go to apply so I miss fewer spots. Just concerned about the rubbing spots. This seems to keep on the model and I hope the paint will stick to it and stay.

>>96473403I rarely do, only when the paints I'm using are particularly thick.
>>96473403You don't wash your ass either.
>>96473330That's kinda the point of IG though isn't it? If you want a mix of shooting and melee you'd need to do something filthy like bring allied Knights. Either that or flood the board with Conscripts intending to bayonet charge as soon as possible. Are Conscript squads still an option?
>>96473580There are no 'cog of Vashtorr' marines. His followers have been... Black Legion and Iron Warriors I think.
>>96473618>Are Conscript squads still an option? Not for like... 5 years.
obsessive thinning is part of the reason so many people find painting white so difficult.
Restock votann you cowards.
>>96473648Whites and yellows are a bitch regardless
>>96473604I think a lot of people that use mainly citadel don't realize that certain brands like AK don't need to be thinned at all
>>96473648Thinning whites?
>>96473403What IS a thin paint?I just scoop from the pot with my brush, dab it once quickly in water, then put it on my (often dried out) "wet" palette. Then I just pull and twist my brush. I dont bother with water ratios, "milky" consistency, multiple thin coats etc.I do multiple coats if I must, but if I get coverage from the first coat, I dont try to do more coats.
>>96473658Learning to paint properly thinned whites is an important part of learning how to properly layer and to consider the impact of your primer color for new painters.
>>96473662It's why when someone asks me for advice on painting my first question is what paints they're using, and something I always try to tell people is just as important as thinning paints overall is not overloading their brushes. Too many times I've seen people on paint night at the LGS thin their paints using various mediums and then chunk it onto their brush like they're trying to paint the whole model without reloading their paintbrush.
>>96473672Frankly: Paint to any consistency that gets acceptable coverage while not obscuring features.
>>96473662>that certain brands like AK don't need to be thinned at allI put my Ak paints on the wet palette and thin them a little bit on said wet palette before applying them to the model. Have I really been using those paints wrong?
>>96473712Nah if you didn't overthin them it's all good. Do try using them straight out of the bottle sometime tho
>>96473677I primed my mini white, then grey, and when those ran out, I used some leadbelcher primer that I got hanging around. It changed nothing to my mini.I prime white to paint black too, since it lets me see where I already painted easier, not for some color layer theory. Also I prime the sprue, and remove the mould lines after priming, scraping a bit of prime. It doesn't seem to impact the paintjob.
>>96473712no
>>96473712most modern paints it's just personal preference. over the years manufacturers have moved towards thinner airbrush-friendly consistency out of the bottle because it's cheaper to make.
>>96473720>Also I prime the sprue, and remove the mould lines after priming, scraping a bit of primepsychopath shit
>>96473648Instead of water I use liquitex white ink to thin white acrylic paint and this is two (2) coats of it over a black primer. It covers incredibly well.
>>96473736I build up from grey primer using a light blue grey (vallejo extra opaque) thinned with white ink, but when I'm painting actual white areas/highlights it's time for pro acryl heavy titanium straight from the bottlerinse the brush frequently to keep it moist so paint flows off, but no deliberate thinning with water
What are some cool GW models I could use as a DEldar clawed fiend?Cost doesn't matter
>>96473735Never had chipping issues. I think a lot of steps are unnecessary, painting is easy and simple. But then again, we wont have>You can learn this "easy" esoteric technique to improve your painting in my Patreon link below.
>>96473797>You can learn this "easy" esoteric technique to improve your painting in my Patreon link below.anyone falling for this deserves to be scammed desu
>>96473542>>96473550I'm still a noob still building dexterity so there are issues but none of them stem from paint being too thickAlso the crudely applied paint over the metals is thematic rather than an executive dysfunctionThe contrast paints for skin & bones give me more issues than le evil thick acrylics
>>96473797I don't get why priming on the sprue and then having to handle it while you assemble stuff is easier for you. Just build the things, spray the things, then paint them like a normal person.
>>96470364Yeah, that's what my order from Bad Dragon is for.
>>96473844It is easier to hold, but that's about the only benefit I can think of
>>96473736that's what I did with liquitex ink and AP's pre-fanatic shitty pure white when I first started paintingwas much easier to get a good consistency for my beginner ass
>>96473844Because priming the sprue lets me prime every bits, and I just prime one side, flip, then prime the other side on a flat surface.Priming an assembled mini is more annoying because you have to worry about blind spots. For the assembly, I scrape off the primed parts that will be glued while scraping off mould lines
>>96473618i dunno, seems like most armies have a variety of playstyles
>>96473873That genuinely sounds like more work to me, spraying from a bunch of angles is a matter of seconds vs having to remove paint from all the joints and still ending up with gaps in the primer from all the mould line removal.congrats on avoiding "unnecessary steps" though lol
Any of the old forgeworld dragons the same size as a mutalith?
>>96473934Yeah dudes a dumbass if he primes on sprue
